Recently a thread came up and people said the right felt the SJWs were boogey men.

Well...are we crazy or ARE WE CRAZY (for not standing up before it was too late).

Im not asking for "conservative values" and all races have been present since the beginning so why can't it just stay that way, why must divirsity push everything to the extremes?

>>

Gender already showed up with the Aetherborn, who are explicitly defined as singular-them-pronouned non-gendered things.

What's it like, having a stick up your ass bigger than any dick could ever be?
>>
>>54001495

Is that the same group Spoony talked about in some counter monkey?

Not saying "it can never happen" but I've been an adult for a while and know they tend to go so over board that it ruins it for the actual players to appease random people that don't even play.
>>
>>54001397
they aren't demmanding any of us do anything about it
they aren't tweaking the rulrs so gay players have better chances of winning exclusively due to their sexual preference

>>

>Gender already showed up with the Aetherborn, who are explicitly defined as singular-them-pronouned non-gendered things.

That makes sense with the Aetherborn. They legitimately don't have the qualities needed to have physical genders. It would be like being surprised that a Changeling is gender fluid.
>>
I see you didn't get a good enough response in the lore thread, so you decided to make your own bait thread.

It's Canon. Honestly, I'm really hoping that Unstable will satirize this kind of behavior and ridicule this extreme emphasis on Diversity in a tasteful manner. Not outright hating on diversity as a concept, but demonstrating that overdoing it can have a hard impact on the story, similar to how a South Park episode might handle the concept.

It would actually be a really cool and useful way to use Unstable that would have a lasting impact on card aesthetic from now on, instead of it just being the "joke set."

Then again, they're probably already doing that with the Gay Interracial Roman Kings Power Couple.
>>
>>54001561

Neither did Karn and yet he was refereed to in male form, because people weren't throwing hissy fits about these things back then.
>>
>>54001584

Nah, it wasn't. The artist got politely asked not to keep producing it due to 'Official MTG artist making art of Official MTG characters' being seen as it being official statements on the characters.

That's what the pride awareness thing is. You don't have to outfag the literal faggots by overreacting.

Kinda hard when if I only have a couple cards from some set. Still.

Ok. So it's been here for a while, but we all know the equality meme goes farther, has it gotten worse or has it moved from buried in the story to corporate virtue signalling.

If it's kept corporat then that's ok but...idk. I've seen many things I like be turned to shit because it became a victim popularity.

I believe that Gay Pride isn't inherently political, at least it shouldn't be. Casual and spontaneous (as in without outside force) insertions of homosexual characters is fine by me. Once it starts to get to actual pandering, which means that people are starting to become glorified/demonized for what they happen to be rather than their accomplishments, that is where I have a problem.
BLM is political since it deals with policing. BLM is also controversial since it has been associated with unsavory words and acts, but that's an inherent weakness with a hashtag movement.
I opposed Runescape's Pride Event on principle of them not asking the community first, which they traditionally have, but I wouldn't mind if they at least negotiated first and there was overreaction from the community, although that was handled poorly by the mods.

That was just pederasty, a related but completely different subject.

Pederasty was really the only form of homosexual act (keep in mind that a homosexual act is not the same thing as homosexuality) that was acceptable, and even then it primarily consisted of molestation without insertion. It comes from a heavily patriarchal culture that believed women to be secondary citizens, and anyone that "received" like a woman was considered inferior. Hence why homosexual acts were only permitted on children, who were likewise secondary citizens.

In general, ancient acts of homosexuality were almost exclusively performed as a manner of exploitation, and is hardly something that should be treated with anything other than pure contempt. Even contemporaries found the practice of pederasty abhorrent, and homosexual acts in general to be as loathsome as the majority of the world's populace finds them today, with adult males often being put to death if the receiving one didn't happen to be a slave.

>A company really shouldn't have a fucking political opinion.
As an accountant, I am obligated to disagree with you.

Under GAAP, a company does track intangible assets on their books. Virtue signalling (under the classical definition, not the politicized one that people throw around now) is absolutely a way to enhance your company's standing with its consumer base, and thereby to increase its value. Value-based management theory holds that the primary obligation of a company is to maximize shareholder value.

In toto, if a company believes that expressing or supporting a particular view will have a net positive effect on consumer relations, the company needs a reason NOT to do so.

> there isn't enough money in the whole country
The US, which is supposedly one of the richest countries in the world, doesn't have enough money to pay for a healthcare system for a single state? I'm sorry, but that's just ridiculous. Plenty of nations in the developed world have universal healthcare systems. Some of them are substantially poorer than the US. The money is there, Americans just don't want to get their healthcare in the same way as the rest of the developed world. The issue is political, not fiscal.
>>
>>54003013
"Society" is pretty resilient.

Basically, when the left kills itself, everyone else will just move on. It's a self fixing problem, like how 2/3's of homosexuals carry some significant STD and that ratio increases daily, and the Left actually does its best to keep these statistics quiet, making the situation worse for themselves.

The Left's worst enemy is itself, and the worst thing that could happen to them is getting what they want.

I mean, that's true in general of politics. Let's not pretend that the Right-elected president isn't struggling with the Right-leaning legislature.

The problem isn't Right, Left, or Center. It's the slow death of compromise as an acceptable option. It used to be that people actually understood "Right" and "Left" as gradients, rather than absolutes. And that meant that some of the Left could work with some of the Right and everyone would get some of what they wanted. Now, both sides are reduced to shrieking children screaming about how the other one isn't being fair to them, while the Centrists try to smug their way to relevance. And, if you're on either side but don't toe the appropriate party line, you're cast out.

Mistakes of the Right:
>Trying to control other people's personal lives

Mistakes of the Left:
>Trying to force you to deal with other people's personal lives

There is no reason to ban gay marriage, just as there is no reason to require that every church be willing to host it.

There is no reason to ban abortions, just as there is no reason to ever allow one to be performed without the mother's consent.

There is no reason to give a single goddamn shit who is or is not using a bathroom. You're in a goddamn stall. If, at any point, you are not in a goddamn stall and are invading someone else's space, that is a problem regardless of your genital configuration.

There is no reason to require that companies pass over more-qualified applicants in order to hire less-qualified ones who happen to belong to a marginalized group, AS LONG AS the system leading up to that point has provided ample opportunity for members of those groups to reach the same level of qualification. Note that this one is tricky because demographics and a variety of other factors can easily result in skewed numbers on who actually has access to resources, and it can be argued that getting women and minorities into the higher-paying jobs NOW will eventually result in evening out the unequal starting position in future generations. Personally, I think subsidies at the education level are a better approach, but good luck getting politicians to increase spending on that.

>The Greeks actually despised gays like the rest of the ancient world. They tolerated bisexuals though.
Nope! To start with attitudes towards sexuality in the ancient world varied immensely from culture to culture. Some societies held homosexuality as taboo, others did not. Some saw it as a sin or frivolous while others saw it as camaraderie or as separate from heterosexual activity. Some societies, especially in the Mediterranean, held androgyny as a divine aspect and had priest(esses) we could loosely define as """"transgender"""".

In Greece the prevailing view on homosexuality was semi accepting. It was seen as feminine and therefore bad to take dick, but delivering it was masculine and therefore cool. Soldiers sometimes participated in homosexual acts. It was popularly conceived as being non-equivalent with a male-female pairing.

Were you thinking of Rome? Because there they had more hard line stances with taking a penis like some kind of SISSY. But also galli priestesses so heck, "despise" doesn't quite cut it.

>>54003465
>Marriage is the state subsidizing the raising of children
The funny thing is that nothing about a straight couple getting married requires them to either have children or express plans to conceive in the future. If marriage is really about kids, you'd think that there'd be some requirements on that front, regardless of sexual orientation.
>>
>>54003468
>Abortion means wasted money through divorce and mismanaged children
And no abortion means STATE money wasted on supporting kids who are put into the foster care system, or paid out in welfare.

You're also spuriously implying that a man will never leave a woman once she becomes pregnant. It hardly seems fair to discuss "forcing" women to take care of kids, when men can skip out at any time.
>>
>>54003448
The Greek prevailing view on "homosexuality" was that it didn't exist. The concept of a man being innately and immutably attracted to another man simply didn't occur to them, with "sexual preference" being the closest thing they might understand in comparison to the modern notion of "sexual orientation".

And, the prevailing view was that homosexual acts were shameful and an indulgence. Still, even though there were many laws put in place to punish homosexual acts (including laws in Sparta punishing soldiers who continued to practice pederasty with a ward who had grown too old), though how frequently they were enforced remains speculated.

In general, the notion of Greeks being favorable towards homosexuals is ahistorical, and fails to appreciate the distinct differences between their culture and modern terminology. At best, they could be considered to have tolerated homosexual acts, but to a certain degree lower than that they tolerated acts like infanticide and having sex with animals.

>Nope, which is why there is no reason for a government to either ban it or require it. One unnecessarily restricts a group, the other unnecessarily protects them.

But there's plenty of reasons to ban it, starting with the fact that gays getting married doesn't make any sense, and really only seems to be pursued for the false idea that it would somehow make people more tolerant of their fetish-dominated lifestyle. That, and while people talk about slippery slope being a fallacy, Canada rushed out legislation to legalize bestiality.

That's largely why they weren't satisfied with "civil unions."

The good thing is that even though the Supreme Court performed an extraordinary breach of legal conduct in legalizing gay marriage, public opinion actually worsened afterwards, rather than improving.

Then name one. One that isn't drowning in debt or subsidized by the US.

The fact is that America is the reason medical research happens. In other countries, there isn't much profit to be made in it. You think people do this stuff out of the goodness of their heart? Don't be naive, in the real world medical research happens because private companies want to make a profit. Because they can profit in the US, the rest of the world gets to free-ride off of all of those developments. But without the US, there's no incentive for people to do medical research. Modern medicine exists because the US hasn't crippled their healthcare system through nationalization like everyone else has.

Achilles and Patrolucus weren't gay though. And you're misconstruing the message of the Symposium, and also how gays and lesbians were considered dramatically different. In general, lesbians were simply not regarded.

Also, nobles sexually exploiting people (and animals) was one of their many, many indulgences. Nobles did many things the general populace didn't like, and sexual deviancies were one of the many complaints philosophers and other nobles laid against them.

Tell it to Plato? And I never said he held them up as being equivalent, but in the modern western world we certainly do. I just wanted you to know that Plato utilized them as a male-male example of love and that they were popular heroes regardless. Lesbians being largely ignored doesn't exactly erase Sapphos' work or her place as a symbol of female-female pairings in the Hellenistic world. Whenever that kind of symbol might have needed.

Also I don't believe Alexander the Great earned any major disapproval for him and Hephaestion. Again largely because of the long standing tradition of homosexuality relationships occurring in the military.

Do you have anything else? I've shown plenty of evidence for not only awareness of same sex couplings but also approval for them in certain context. What examples of large spread homophobic attitudes in ancient Greece do you have? I'm curious to know where this is all coming from.

But Epaminondas was a real historical person who was the effective ruler of a Boetian rise to power, who has an elite corps of all-faggot soldiers, and who was himself an out-and-out faggot who never married or had female lovers but had two male lovers one of which he died a heroic death with.

Like, this may be exceptional but it actually happened in history. People criticized him for not having children and he told them to look at his war record and called his battles his children. I think the guy talking about how the modern conception of homosexuality in no way resembles the historical one is actually right, but he's using it to downplay homosexual acts in the culture and Epaminondas was just an out-and-out fucking homo.

So that MtG card does not really trigger me or make me fret about value-pushing, because if anything the real like Greek gay autarch was about a million times fucking gayer than the card is.

There's no censorship, it's just market forces.

People love having their own beliefs preached to them. They love having their opinions confirmed. They react like OP when they hear things they don't like. So much popular media espouses liberal values, and people buy it, because that's what they like to hear.

You can bullshit up whatever little theory that helps you live with the fact that your ideas can't survive in a free market, but the facts are plain to see. Companies fear losing the liberal audience, because it's larger and worth more money to them.

Left-wing ideas are mass market, and right-wing ideas are niche market. Liberals have more market power, so they can afford to drop media, because they have plenty of alternatives.

Socrates explained to Phaedrus, the character who embodies "dumb and wrong", that he was both dumb and wrong soon after. (well, to be fair, he's more of the character that embodies youthful ideas, but generally in Plato's dialogues there's always caricatures of people used as foils against Socrates's wisdom).

The whole dialogue is Plato laying down his distinctions of love, including the concept named after him, the idealized form that doesn't involve either blood relations or physicality.
>>
>>54005742
That's still censorship.
> Companies fear losing the liberal audience, because it's larger and worth more money to them.
Liberals threaten to boycott businesses that offend them, intimidating them into silence at best, or outright pandering at worst.

Free speech is more than just a legal protection, it's a moral and cultural ideal. It requires that people be accepting of different views. Instead, liberals insist that their way is the only correct way and that everything must be made to serve their idea of "progress." That's moral censorship.

No, it really doesn't. The problem is that toleration by necessity involves an arbitrary rejection component. So the only way to put these concepts like "free speech" and "toleration" into practice is through legal protection based on what does and does not cause harm: which includes taking away others' rights, not just physical or financial harm.

And you're doing that thing where you treat all "liberals" as one monolithic bloc. It pisses me off regardless of what group is on the receiving end. It cheapens the whole process.

ohhh boy.
>>

>Choose a different card game
Your non-mtg choices are chilling with the shitty yugioh community or playing pokemon and risk looking like a pedo. There's your anime card games but they're usually ded. Neither pokemon nor yugioh play the same as MTG. Either.
>the boycotts
Bruh, you had the women's march and the march for science, and you know what those accomplished? Outside of a fuckton of selfies, nothing was actually achieved.
>dude if you don't like what we're doing with the diversity, don't buy it
>telling prospective and current customers to fuck off if they don't agree with the company's arbitrarily injected policies
Never actually get into business. Please don't.
>>
>>54006334
This isn't a case of different views. The left is just factually wrong about what they think ancient Greece was like. Faggotry wasn't "accepted" any more than bestiality was.
>>
>>54006239

>Why not? It's up to the consumer to make their own purchases. Nobody is forced to play MTG. Choose a different card game.

Is this a game of chicken? A game to see who breaks first?

I like Magic the game, and being annoyed by politics being inserted into it has only been enough to stop me from purchasing new packs, not stopping playing altogether. But, if the whole plan is to see whether or not the Left can just push itself into everything and not somehow get pushed back, that's where people start to play a game of chess.

"Oh, you made a gay card in a children's card game? Fine. We let Trump get elected."

Pawn for King.

so you're already a faggot. case closed.

So you're going to fuck yourself over because you don't like the marketing decisions for a children's card game? Okay then. Enjoy that.

Cringeworthy.

That's all the better, because your awakening is probably going to be very rude.

The left is going to be fine. They largely live in states that are insulated from what Trump does. The rest of the country, however, is going to get to deal with the consequences of zero health/environmental regulation and gutting social spending in order to cut taxes for the wealthy.
>>
>>54006624
Just putting priorities in perspective.

The left has done a great job of bullying everyone to card players and bakeries, but that's only served to piss people off to the point where between Hillary and an orange idiot, at least the orange idiot had a vice president with some practical experience as an electrician.

>>
>>54006705
Trump has mostly only been able to roll back regulations, since even with control of congress the GOP hasn't been able to do much. That's important if your state doesn't do any regulating on its own and just goes along with the floor set by the federal government. The left is concentrated in a small number of states that don't do that, so Trump hasn't actually been able to do much to effect them.

And even if he does manage to repeal Obamacare, the biggest effect that will have is that it will slash Medicaid by a huge amount, and that will mainly impact the red states that voted for Trump in the first place.

This is why you are losing the game. Us from the left actually don't care about your silly game. We are indoctrinating the young ones to think being a transgender is nothing out of the ordinary, it has nothing to do with you. You are old meat.

And this is why you lost the election.

>comic readers were the first to be SJW'd
There was no saving them. Literally no one cared about those poor fucks. It's sad really.
>sexism in videogames? We need to fix these gamers!
And thus, a new generation of voters showed up. Protip: they didn't vote for you.
Comic readers actually warned them about your ilk.

So now you attack card games and space mariners? Protip: They won't vote for you either.

If you keep attacking people you will continue to lose even harder. No one likes you, you are scorn, you are annoying, you are stupid. And hobbyist are banding together against you after the great fall of the comics industry.

As someone who has read Plato, the idea of immutable and inherent sexual orientation really is alien to the Greeks. In general, the idea of immutable attraction is directly against much of Plato's core philosophy, and the transformative nature of Love is actually a focus in several of his works, notably the Symposium and the Phaedra.

In general, Plato thought "earthly" or physical attraction was vulgar, and that the "Divine Eros" (later known as Platonic Love) was to be esteemed. In short, if you loved a guy because you wanted to bone him, you really didn't love the guy, which is basically as thorough a condemnation of homosexuality as you can persuasively deliver.
>>
>>54007010
it's just as condemning of heterosexuals. It's why divorces are so common. men and women didn't really love eachother. once the sex got boring they split.
>>
>>54006868
The states that are going to be hit worst by sea-level rise are in the South.
>>
>>54007055
It's only condemning certain heterosexuals, not all. On the other hand, it really leaves no room for the idea of "homosexual marriage" being anything more than an awkward joke.

only right wingers call it "homosexual marriage"
gays just call it "marriage". the sexual connotations were created by you guys.
>>
>>54007055
Actually, while you are correct that men and women never loved each other. The reason for divorces is because we gave women the right to be a strong independent woman who needs no man.

If you lived in the 1940s, and you either had to:
a) go back to being 'independent' and have to work your ass off to survive, while possibly getting insulted and harassed by men everywhere
or
b) just continue living with your boring husband
You would choose b.

If we delete the women liberation, divorces will stop.

And we all know why women shouldn't be free
>too stupid to keep a man
>too stupid to keep being loyal to a man
>too stupid to vote with rationale and not feelings
>too stupid to understand the concept of a nation
>too stupid to have foresight of alien calamities like letting strangers into your nation/home/mouth/vagina
>too retarded to raise children
Then you realize /pol/ is right, we should just enslave everyone.

Not really. New England and the West Coast are the main centers of the left in the US. The South, places like Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, etc. are much less liberal.
>>
>>54007213
marriage isn't about sex you clown. gay sex has been legal for decades. we didn't want to legalize gay marriage for sexual reasons. You made an arguement about gay men not loving eachother and only wanting sex. but if that were true we would have never pushed for gay marriage.

>we didn't want to legalize gay marriage for sexual reasons.

Wow, you're really both an idiot AND insane.
The whole point of legalization was because you guys just want it easier to get buggered.

You had civil unions, which were virtually marriage in every form except public acknowledgement. What you wanted was "equality", or in fact special privileges (which you got with civil unions), all because you are demanding not simple tolerance, but acceptance of your fetish.

Why? Because you want less criticism and open condemnation for homosexual "behavior", and generally just more freedom to advertise yourselves so you can have more gay sex.

Here's the business. If it was about love, men have been able to love men since cavemen days. Men have loved men like brothers, fathers, and sons, and it was not only legal, but encouraged and celebrated. Hell, Medieval Christians actually had a pseudo-marriage ceremony that joined two men as brothers.

Gay Marriage has always just been about sex. Homosexuality in general has always just been about sex.

You really think anyone would take issue with two lifelong friends living together, expressing brotherly love for each other? No one would.
>>
>>54007350
Not him but just google and do the math, nerd.

Here is a tip for you, find out the number of US people that play videogames, divide it by 2, and you get the total videogame voters.

Now do the same, find the sales number of multiple card game franchises, this time reduce the total number by 40% , then add the resulting number to the previous calculation you did.

Now again, the same but for tabletop, and for comics.

The total you get is the boost in votes that Trump got around the entire country during election day. Remember that spread out votes are actually far more important than condensed areas. So if 1,000 new voters show up and manage to color red a province or whatever and then in turn thanks to that color red the whole state, then Trump gets like over 20 points in the election career.

So its actually pretty important, every voter is important.
>>
>>54007384
>"you didn't want gay marriage because of love. I don't care what you think this is how it is because I said so."
hold hands with your brother in public and see what happens.
>>
>>54007451
If that's the only way you understand how to show love for your brother, my statement on you being an idiot and insane stands.

Really. Your whole "gay marriage is about love" is so stupid, it makes me question whether you have any inkling of what love actually means, and what managed to twist your understanding of it so badly.

Did your father have sex with you?

The "sacred band of thebes" was a peculiarity and an oddity, and they were still expected to have wives and children. They were also essentially victims of sexual exploitation, molested from a young age and brought up to think of that as the norm in their small group.

And yes, many despised the Band of Thebes, with both Xenophon and Plato treating the idea with disdain, though Plato doing so a little more tactfully by having Phaedrus broach the topic with Socrates later correcting him on his interpretation, while Xenophon simply had Socrates flat out call it shameful.
