What are your favourite tactics and positioning?

One of my favorite abstracts.

I play my queen bee second, as you have to play it on or before your fourth piece, and I've heard first piece queen bee is disallowed in tournaments because it's considered too strong. I tend to save my ants because they are strong end game and you don't want them locked down. Better to place beetles or grasshoppers (or ladybug) early because of their movement options.

>disallowed in tournaments because it's considered too strong

the reason it's disallowed, is because it lead to, too many, stalemates.

also, pillbug, mosquito, queen master race reporting in!

What's the purpose of the ladybug expansion?
>>

I only own the basic set.

Unless I think my adversary is going spider-beetle, in which case I like to get my beetle down next to my queen fast (to top my own queen over the enemy beetle), I prefer to start with my queen and get my ants binding enemy hexes soon, perhaps as soon as turn 3.

I like to be very agressive.

The ladybug is more interesting than the spider.

best defensive strategies?

I can't tell whether this is an actual game or an elaborate ruse.

Well done /tg/

Having loose ants to preemptively bind important enemy hexes.

Placing a beetle next to your bee, so that if an enemy beetle tops your bee, you can top their beetle.
>>

What good does it do to beetle a beetle that's beetling your queen?
>>
>>53982254
Sitting on that queen-beetling-beetle keeps the enemy from spawning new tiles there, and also from dropping down and capturing the last space.

t. pleb
>>
>>53983093
This makes no sense
>>
>think this is some obscure /tg/ meme
>start writing some elaborate long answer as if I'm in on it, pretending this is a real game while "knowing" it isn't
>only before clicking submit google it and find out it actually is a real game
I guess I'm retarded now
