Repost from the old thread-
Primaris Scheme. Coming up with their fluff, blah blah blah
What do you anons think? Additions I should make? Mistakes I need to fix?
>>53920792
>>53920792
Looks solid. The base shouldn't stay white though it ought to contrast the model slightly
>>53920816
What's with the overwhelming majority of people who play Orks using an Ork voice? I get it can sometimes be funny but when they're doing it most of the time they play or say anything related to orks it gets a bit grating. I can appreciate the occasional post with an Orky vehicle and some chatter but sometimes it's a bit much.
>>53920823
Thanks! Yeah the base is white from airbrush/primer. I haven't decided how to base them yet, so I'm gonna leave them blank until I decide.
I need a highlight color for the green. It looks dark here but irl it's actually brighter than I thought it would be, especially since the base is nearly black. I might go for a second wash of nightshade since it's supposed to be night-fighting in a swamp.
Working on my dark apostle/noxious blightbringer. Using the primus medicae from forgeworld for my artscale (now normal size marines) with some bits from the new starter set.
Is the head too small though? Used a wood elf one.

Posting again. Suggestions on how to achieve this color bone? Basecoat gray/blue mix then highlight white with nuln oil wash?
>>53920912
I might try caliban green washed blue next, and keep the olive green as the highlight color. A little bit of testing to do before I go hard on the army. I guess this is what drones are for
>>53920792
>>53920816
>>53920923
You'll get away with it. For some reason the death guard champion and the plaguecaster (the two models without helmets) have small heads anyway so it won't look too out of place.
>>53920959

>>53920855
Do you mean talking like an ork or orkposting?
>>53921083
Both, really. There's the occasional banter, and then there's the full on in-character speech and conversation.
>>53921109
Unsure if this a plus or minus for you, but they have a very "cooked lobster" look to them because of the red and the spines/highlights. Personally, I really like it, but could use a wash maybe.
Has anyone here ever painted Mortifactors? I think I have a decent paint list ready, but I'd be interested to know the process you did the colors in.

If you're not the same anon as last night, here. If you are, I still enjoy these schemes and maybe they'll help someone else.

Yeah I am, I was hoping that It would get more attention in a WIP with more than 12 posts.
>>53921051

>>53918563
Rattle can primers go on much much thicker than air brushed primer. It's not going to give you the same result. It sounds like you don't know what airbrushes are like and assumed a rattle can and an airbrush do the same thing when they do entirely different ends of the spectrum when it comes to paint spraying.
When painting with subassemblies should I try to mask parts so I can glue them with plastic cement, or just paint everything and use super glue?
>>53921616
try to mask them. but you could also scratch color off with a knife
>>53921276
they'd probably get the ones with Colonel Cawl's secret blend of herbs and spices (i.e. World Eater geneseed, capsacin, and grox testosterone), so they'd be as pissed, if not moreso, as their regular marine counterparts. I imagine that if the AM tried fucking with their new meat, someone would GET A FUCKING BOLT RIFLE BROKEN OFF IN THEIR FAGGOT ASS.
>>53920839
Anon, seriously cool models. How'd you paint them? Is that an offwhite?

The thought was a shallow pond of sorts that you'd find within a cave. Naturally the water would be pretty clear from underground filtration but I was considering adding some moss on other parts of the diorama, so I could also go for a stagnant pool of water too.
I dunno, the indecision has ground my progress on the piece to a complete stop and I'm dying to move forward but I just don't know how I want to go about it

2nd edition inspired Primaris WIP
Should I do black or brown holsters and satchels? White parchment or black parchment?
I've been messing about with a few Dark Eldar test models. This is the first one that's a bit closer to completion. Opinions would be appreciated.
>>53923215
I keep seeing people use the german word for cinema with no apparent context and subsequently must assume I am behind on a meme. What have I missed?
Anyone had any luck stripping corax white? Came out really flaky and im planning on soaking the model in dettol. Will i have any luck or should i just accept its pointless and move on?
>>53923350
>Should I do black or brown holsters and satchels?
While black and brown are neutral colors, brown is slightly "warmer" than black. While black contrasts a but more with the shade of red you have picked.
So, do brown if you want something that "fades in" with the red you have chosen, or do black if you want something that "stands out" from the red.
If you still can't make up your mind, my vote is for brown. But that's just my own subjective tastes.
Do you guys like my completed objectives? This is such a fun kit I really enjoyed making it. Every objective piece has so much character to it, it could be a story in it's own right.

It's so mysterious! What could it possibly mean? How did it get there? Man, if inanimate objects could talk I bet it would have whopper of a tale to tell.
>>53923375
Looks solid, but I can't quite put my finger on it, it needs something to sharpen it up. Another contrasting colour or a brighter fine edge highlight. If you want to take it further.
>>53923483
Man you need to get an imagination.
I've got a few mortar squads in my IG army. So yeah, mortar shells can have a story around them. Like the squad needs to capture the mortar dump to secure more ammo for the campaign.
It's funny you brought up the mortars because I was actually pretty excited to set up my mortar teams next to them in a game.
>>53923456

legend has it that because a single guardsman chose to flee the battle instead of running the orders to a mortar battery to fire on the incoming chaos vanguard rather than redeploying, the battle was lost, and the loss of the battle contributed to the loss of the war.
you could say that those pristine mortars represent the loss of Cadia due to a guardsmans cowardice.

Rust would work wonders with that scheme imo. Meaby have some fun and try the hair fixer technique?
>>53923419
Pls respond
>>53923975
>Rust would work wonders with that scheme imo.
I think the same. I think adding some small patches of dark-brown, then metal, then a mix of really bright orange and Lahmian medium. dunno if it'd look too bright in the end though.
Meaby have some fun and try the hair fixer technique?
I am not familiar with this, what is the "hair fixer" technique?
Someone in this thread needs this. I can feel it in my bones.
>>53923690
Yeah maybe take a brighter yellow, or orange to just highlight tips of the armour plates just to add definition.
>>53924036
Actually its called hair spray technique. There is plenty of tutorials on Youtube.
First you paint the rust color on the whole model. Then you give several hairspray coats. After, you paint the armor in the normal way. And finally with a toothpick or a hard brush soaked in alcohol you remove the paint of the armor leaving the rust under showing(wich is protected by the hair spray)
>>53921042
Im going to pick up some Primaris, I've avoided doing space marines for years and can't even remember the last time I painted one.
Do you think this would be a good colour scheme? Do you reckon my local GW would let me do a test paint on one of their tester models if I picked up the big box set?
>>53924346
I like it, but the belt should be blue, and I would use the white helmet only for the sargents.
>>53924346
Opinions being worth shit and all that but i dont like the clash of colours. they just dont seem to blend at all.
More progress, just have the backpack left. Finished the shoulder pads and it took me much longer than I wanted it to. It's hard to tell cause of the picture quality but I severely underestimated the difficulty involved when painting directional highlights on such a round surface and have it look good. Also didn't know if I should go with a gold or black trim. Obviously I went with gold and I think it was a good choice. I'm open to critiques.
>>53924443
Me neither
>>53924495
Gold works anon.
But why are you taking all this care painting a marinelet?
>>53924552
Because I enjoy painting my minis more than I do playing the game. Also because this is my first time glazing on highlights and I wanted to see if I would like it (So far, yes.)
I know it takes an insane amount of time to do, but I am hoping with practice I will become faster. A goal of mine is to become good enough that I can do commissions during my layoff season.
>>53924346
That color scheme is atrocious.
If you really, really REALLY want to use red, yellow and blue at the same time, choose one to be the dominant color, and use the other two sparingly.
Or choose two that complement well and remove the third one.
Does the ravenwing bits set come with a transfer sheet?
Gw used to sell a DA transfer sheet but now they don't and I'm worried that I will have to freehand stuff like the book on sableclaw.
>>53924331
interesting. I'll give it a check, see if it works for me.
>>53924137
>>53922080
Looks cool man, keen to see the finished product
This is going to take a bit of Green Stuff.
I combined the flames to make them less flat, removed the proboscis and made it into a flame-spouting trailing limb instead, opting for a gout of flame coming directly out of the mouthpiece. I've got some extra pieces of flame and the claws of Murderfang to use where the tusks are currently. I think I'm on to something here!
>>53924346

>>53923456

>>53925360

Its a very neat idea, but I dont think the flames are necessary, at least not on the guns.
>>53920728
Reposting from the last thread, I've decided to try painting a few guardsmen models (so this was technicaly my first IG model ever). :D
This guy's been so much fun to paint I'm thinking about painting a whole IG army now.
Will propably post a finished version later today/tonight or in the next thread.

Painting noob here, how many thin coats is too many thin coats?
I've heard you should apply coats until the whole surface looks smooth (normally 2 for units and 3/4 for large panels) and so that it doesn't look painted, but that's a little vague.
For reference, this is 2 coats of just Deathworld Forest. (Well, Chaos Black>Leadbelcher>Deathworld x2).
Sorry about the light blur.

Looking for a couple of tool recommendations:
What are the best side cutters and fine detail brushes out there?
>>53920973
I'd start with this.then drybrush or highlight with Ulthuan grey. Then wash with watered down nuln oil. Then highlight with ulthuan grey, then pure white.
All in all only 3 paints and a wash.
>>53925653
nois
>>53926903
Yeah since these are my first models being painted, I wasn't exactly sure on how to take care of them prior to painting.
I didn't take all of the nubs completely off (Should know better considering I'm coming from GunPla), and I didn't even look to remove mold lines/sand down nubs.
When priming my first batch of units (including this Stalker) I was wearing acrylic gloves when handling them, but the gloves kept getting stuck to the larger units that I wasn't holding by the base and you can see smudges/very obvious marks from where the piece of glove got stuck.
>>53924158
Do you think this works, or should I go further with the yellow/orange?
>>53927360
a very fine highlight on the very edges with a mix of bright orange and yellow would do wonders on him I think
>>53920792

how did you do the white?
Thinking about doing a similar scheme on AdMech.
>>53927360
You could try an edge highlight on the highest edges like pic related

>>53927521

>>53927541
No anon, that looks much better, what you can do now is try one last small highligt with pure yellow, on the most elevated areas.
>>53927646
Okay, i'll do that! I'll show up in some other thread with more progress down the line!
>>53922080
The easiest conversions are replacing weapons.
You could have just cut the bolter off a the grip and replaced it with a bolt pistol, and given the sword a new blade.
The damn primaris marines are re-igniting my interest in 40k.
Now I'm wondering if this sort of paint pattern would work on them.
>>53927803
I'm not really clear what the green lines are meant to be. Are they an edge highlight? An indication of some random camo pattern? Or are you honestly going to try painting it exactly like that?
Whichever it is, I would suggest using a different colour. Either a lighter shade of the main colour or something which contrasts / complements it. Two distinctly different colours which are quite close in hue tends to look bad.
I'm getting back into 40k with 8th edition, thinking about making my own chapter/fluff.
Any thoughts on the scheme?
Fluffwise I'm thinking exorcists successor chapter founded to guard a planet/warp thing.
>>53925653
Outstanding work!
>>53927889
I like it. But maybe you could make the head not entirely red?
Also paint it dark grey and not black
>>53927907
Yea I was going for dark grey for the armour anyway, as for the head maybe a white faceplate?
How does this look for AdMech?
>>53927889
Gotta say, that looks pretty damned sweet, and good fluff. The Ultima Founding established a lot of defensive chapters assigned to segments along the length of the Cicatrix Maladictum, guarding against warp fuckery is strongly in keeping with theme. Post your pics when you have them painted up, I'm curious to see the results!
>>53927924

Don't bother stripping it. Take the ruined mini and the can to your local GW, show it to the blackshirt. Unless you happen to have the biggest cock mongrel of a store owner in front of you, you'll probably get a replacement kit and can.
Slowly getting there
couple of more nights to go and they'll be ready
>>53931154
To be quite honest most problems with spraycans are basically 99% percent of the time user error.
People talk about 'bad batches' and that stuff all the time, but the simple truth is most of the issues they experience is due to either not shaking the can properly, or spraying from too close, too far away, too much or just picking a day with shit weather without testing the spray first.
If you take your stuff to the store the blackshirt may give you an introduction on how to use a rattlecan, but don't expect any more of it.
>>53928139
I'm not sure what upsets me more: The AoS base that looks ridiculously out of place for 40k, the grotesque proportions, or the fact that you could have done so much more sculpting work on the Castellan legs.

>>53928139
>>53928362
>>53931254
>The AoS base that looks ridiculously out of place for 40k
I think the AoS bases work fine with the right paintjob, but I'm kind of surprised by how soft and blobby those bases look.
GW throws money at limited edition run plastic miniatures all the time why the fuck won't they invest in plastic bases that have crisp detail? If they'd look good they'd sell so much better.
>>53929496
>no penis rune in the book
>>53931249
Well, if you're a regular who is known to actually paint shit, the manager will probably hear you out.
And if you can prove that even after two minutes of shaking the can, holding the can far enough away from the model, only using short bursts and working with decent weather, the paint ends up looking grainy as fuck, they should pretty definitely help you out.
>>53923419
I can tell from your typing and choice of primer that your ignorance is going to result in shitty prime jobs regardless of what you do.
>>53931275
Yes, pretty much everything. But that doesn't change the fact that its terrain aesthetics are a mile away from 40k.
>>53931309
They actually have crisp detail for the most part. I worked with those bases and that's actually one of the worse ones.
>>53929007
Pls respond
First few guys coming through, still need to highlight and then transfer two of them. Getting there, slowly
>>53928851
I would argue that diminishing returns start at around $20. Tamiya sharp point side cutters are worth the price imo.
>>53930647
>when i see pictures of people painting before assembling i see they have stuff like backpacks and arms attached to sticks, how exactly are they sticking to them? glue?
It's usually a glob of this stuff - the same thing you use to affix a model's base to an old paint pot of medicine bottle lid so you can pain the model without actually handling it.
Sometimes, though, they'll drill a hole (especially if assembly will later involve pinning), use superglue, or both.
>>53931749
looks pretty cool but it's absolutely ruined by that mold line on the leg
Got some Grots sitting in some Super Clean waiting for them to be stripped.
How long does Super Clean usually take to get the paint ready for brushing off?
>>53931749
Pretty much >>53931803 this. Without the mold line this would be awesome. Also, thank you, I now know where to use my leftover Exalted Sorcerer heads.
>>53931749
Wow... y'know, I'm not usually the guy to call out mold lines, as I'm a frequent violator myself (pic related), but the model you chose to put front and center in your picture has a 'ooge, obvious glaring one running down his right leg.
Other than that these guys look really sharp! You gonna drill those bolt gun barrels and highlight the red with some dashing crimson colour?
Before painting a whole unit I do one testrun model.
It is less blue in RL
>>53931974
Looks pretty spooky m8
I would have gone for a lighter blue, but as you say, it might just be the camera
How much quality am I sacrificing if I substitute Army Painter paint for Vallejo Game Color?
I know I said I'd not post this guy in the thread anymore. But I think he's finished now.
>>53927541
I think your Eldar looks really great Anon. Maybe the paint is a tad too thick though.
>>53932077
I can get what you mean, he is mainly a sloppily put together guy so i'm not too careful with the thinning of the highlights.
I really want to convert my tomb blades because I hate the models
something canoptek inspired would be cool
>prime up kabalite
>get it all base coated
>start highlighting
>realize how fucking tedious they are
>desire to paint dwindles
I think I've made a huge mistake.
I have some Primarines coming in the mail this week, but can't choose a colour scheme.
Pic related is what I'm leaning towards, but not sure how good it'll look on Primaris models. Plus I don't want them to look 'boring' by being grey.
>>53920839
Hot damn those are crisp
Back in the hobby because 8th ed. I haven't painted in years. Here are some of my fire warriors. I'm trying to pull off the voir'la sept colour scheme.
feedback appreciated
>>53932230
>grey
>boring
you could add scarring, rust, wear-and-tear through combat, sigils, kill-counters, heraldry - fucking anything! The fact that you claim its "boring" just shows that you really need to improve on your imagination.
>>53926216
That Ethereal in the middle was only available in a Mega Army pre-release box, so is pretty fucking rare. Nice find mate.
>>53932363
Chill Senpai, I just meant in comparison to the traditional brighter colours it may not 'pop' as much from the tabletop.
>>53928942
Looking good muh man
>>53932072
I like this scheme, looks a little globby in spots but I bet much less so on the table
>>53932527
If anything, desaturated grey and an attractive accent colour is more eye-grabbing than some two-colour schemes.
>>53932594
Thanks! Yeah it's also extra messy because it's a test model. Not that i'm some super painter anyway.

>>53931835
About a day should work. If you want to be extra sure that the paint will come off then you can wait a bit longer.
>>53932936
>whats the best mold line remover?
The *best* mold line remover is the one Citadel makes. The most *economical* one is the back edge of your hobby knife.
Working on my broods, the never ending work in progress. Do any other Tyranid painters find Gargoyles utterly tedious to paint or is it just me?
Also, do y'all think flying bases should be based or left transparent?
What do you think?

>>53933448
>I was considering picking up one of those Citadel mold line removers. So you think it's worth it?
It's going to be pricey, but yes, I do. I also have a lot of metal models to work on (something most 40K players don't have to deal with), and it works as well on them as it does on plastic.
>>53933618
Seems a little heavy on the Tau tech, hard to tell that belongs to the kroot.
>>53933618
I like it. A reminder of when GW knew how to sculpt monsters
>>53933618
Das beautiful mate.
>>53925653
Aww man, mine look like total shit compared to yours. Good job.
>>53933651
Oh really, so it works on metal too. That's good. Thanks.
>>53929496

Are big marines gonna replace little marines by 2018?
How would you guys get the color on these Necrons? I was thinking a white primer and then some kind of desert color, right? And then wash with Agrax.
>>53934541
nope. they are too bad by themselves. they cost too many points
>>53934541
Yes, they are
>>53934545
Looks like bone to me. I'll bet on Screaming Skull over Zandri Dust. With Sephia washes.
>>53934541
nobody knows.
>>53933809
Its just sand, some cork and gw tuft along with some bushes. Glued the whole surface and applied sand. Cut off the cork in rocky shapes and glued them on. Its a bit simple looking but the model is crowded enough.
>>53934580
Are you ready to bet that we'll see new marines releases that are not primaris? I'm not
>>53934627
Will look into that, thank you.
>>53932595
Have they released any guides on how to paint these?, I know duncan has released guides on how to do grey but these ones grey look much more apealing.
>>53933265
Gargoyles are a nightmare, I hate the huge areas of the wings and how they get imn the way during painting.
I'm going to be basing mine to mtch my army, I just find the transparent bases stand out too much, on the board the look closer to white than transparent.
>>53932230
It's a great scheme, can't wait to see what GW decides should happen to chapters with unknown or traitor geneseed like the Red Scorpions or Minotaurs.
Hey /wip/ should I paint all the bone parts or the black parts first?
>>53935411
Depends on what you are painting.
>>53933618
You are just continuing an old and proud tradition. Krootify away, son.
>>53935426
Forgot my image like a retard.
What's a good starter airbrush? I hear good things about Iwata. I have around a 135 dollar budget for getting set up.
Any recommendations?
>>53935411
>>53935481
Mortifactors got one of those schemes where it's almost 50/50 and neither the black nor bone parts are distinguished by being easier to access.
So whatever you like. Don't think it matters too much.
Though if you prefer a black undercoat for the weapons, your metal colors and misc other details I'd go with black.
>>53935616
Cool, thanks. Im just worried about the more detail heavy miniatures like my sternguard.
>>53935636
As long as you leave the bolters or any other weapons off from the guys that carry them held across the chest you should be good I think.
Nice choice of chapter btw.
No school like the old school.
>>53935692
Thanks! Id rather paint a cool somewhat obscure chapter than make up my own retarded one.
>>53923456

I'd spray black and use Zandri Dust as a base for the bones.

>>53935834
>Is it wine corks cut up or like hobby sheets of cork or something?
It's cork tiles. I bought this four-pack of 12" x 12" cork tiles at Michaels with a 50%-off coupon. It's pretty much a lifetime supply.
>>53935910
>Cork sheets, I think they're meant to be used in cars but I've never figured out what for.
Yeah, that's a stretch. My best guess was some kind of insulation for high-end stereo equipment or maybe just simply catching and soaking up motor oil, but my google-fu nets me nuthin' on either of those.
>>53925360
fuck everybody this is tight
Is there a general name for these?
Specifically like pictured, where one side is flat and the other is a V shape between the two sides. Whenever I go in hardware shops, they only seem to have more plier-type ones.
>>53936239
>>53935910
Thanks lads. It's barely anything but would you recommend 1mm or 3mm?
1mm seems too thin, even if you stack it, whilst 3mm might be too thick on 28mm models, I dunno.
>>53936333

3mm is a little bit less than an eighth of an inch - about the thickness of the cork tiles in >>53936239. There's some underneath this Librarian, but you can hardly tell.
How do you guys like my yellow so far? Gonna add some black markings after the yellow's done, planning to make my fleet look like wasps

I think Reaper may have a guy that kind of looks like Harry.
Reaper have so many wizards, I won't try to find it now though.
Anyway maybe looking for kids in school uniform may yield better results. Can't really think of any from the top of my head though.
If you want the characters from the movies specifically Knight Miniatures makes a miniatures game. The KM stuff is more like 32mm usually though.
Thoughts on Gesso? Gave up on spray painting since Florida humidity. Heard a lot of good things about it, only a few bad things.
>>53937830

So some of hte primaris dudes don't have helmets and I want them to have helmets, can i just use regular marine helmets on them or are they not the right size?
>>53938688
They are the same size.
>>53938744
okay cool ty friend
I just basecoated a tank in waaagh flesh (due to a lack of castelan green) a d it looks fine to me. Only problem is I can't think of a colour to dry brush over it to make the details pop. Does anyone have an idea.
I'm painting a poxwalker using a similar method to the Battle Ready Duncan tutorial. I used Biel-Tan Green as the base for the skin and it came out waaay too green. Is there anything I can do to make it look less Incredible Hulk and more Solomon Grundy?
Right now I have a thinned-down Drakenhoff Nightshade going over it. Hope it helps.
>>53938840
Warpstone
>>53938981
Thanks lad
>>53939369
If you wanted to take it a step further, paint a wash into the recesses and corners of the armor, and then do the warpstone drybrush. Should make it pop nicely.
>>53939389
Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure to do that.
Working on a Captain in Gravis Armour. Just finished layering him after a few long days and have started working on highlighting.
>>53924346
Make the yellow into gold, and the red and blue much darker. Think a mix of the two edgy power rangers (pic related). Also the white helmet is iffy, although you could possibly retain it as a veteran/sergeant symbol?
Kolinski Sables, yay or nay?
>>53940037
Clean up your highlights, the yellow lines look aweful.
Is there a way to get paint out of your brushes ferrule or to repair brushes that have puffed out because of this, or is it just more cost effective to replace them?
>>53940761
depends. Brush soap or other cleaning agents that can deal with paint should work.
But the more aggressive stuff is gonna do a number on the bristles. Dry them out and make them brittle.
Best way to avoid that is always not to get paint in the ferrule in the first place.
>>53932323
Massive picture without a really good quality to boot. Brush control is alright, albeit a bit splochy on the washes. You might want to do a red eye lense, to pop up more again st the white.
>>53935463

Do plasma guns have to be blue lore wise? Or can you make them other colors?
I'm trying to decide my color scheme for my marines and I feel like blue plasma would stick out too much from the other Salamanders colors.

>>53941431
Nothing HAS to be any color. You can paint up pink ultramarines if you want. Do what you want.
>>53941482
I only have 8e stuff.
Would yellow, red or orange be entirely unheard of colors for plasma guns?
>>53941587
Things do have to be certain colors IF I want to be lore friendly though
>>53941605
There's plenty of examples of canon non-blue plasma guns here. http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Plasma_Gun
Unless you're going for a specific army that specifically loves/hates a colour then you're fine. Like Necrons only have a couple of dynasties that have non-green energy.
>>53941605
You can bullshit your way through a lot. Take the pink ultras for example, fighting on a xeno world with lots of pink foliage necessitating pink camo. Shouldn't let in universe canon stop an idea if you like it. Can always come up with a reason later.
Working on my appointed immortal for SWA. I've been having difficulty with this scheme shading the green parts of the armor. Mostly with consistency.
If I thin the Coelia greenshade with water I seem to have better results, (the deathmark looks like a completely different green almost as he had more shade) but when the shade is thinner it seems to streak together in whatever direction it wants over the flat surfaces. It kinda gives it this cool random camo effect but that's just the lie I tell myself. How do you shade flat surfaces?
>>53930710
did you drybrush wings, or it's layered highlight?
I've took a frew days break form paiting, since I've spent entire june on painting Dark Imperium for LGS.
Now it's time to get back to paiting! I've decided to finish off something form my backlog, before I go for crazy spending spree.

>paint some random, primed model for Malifaux

How exactly are you supposed to use Citadel shades?
Bloodletter (red) and Fuegen (orange) works great on oranges, but Coelia (blue) always comes out really splotchy and odd on my green panels. The guide I'm using calls for coelia on green specifically, but has anyone used this combination before and had it turn out alright?

>>53943043
Oh shit I didn't even see that post.
I'm going for the exact same Necron army. That's what I mean, that Immortal on the left is pretty blotchy.
I've been thinking about applying the Nightshade just in recesses and divets of armour. Like with the Immortals, around the base of the neck armour and along the should groove as it goes down the back.
Looks great though! What did you use for the orange on the pipes/axe? I'm using Jokaero>Fuegan shade>Troll Slayer and it's coming out odd. The energy orbs are coming out looking like basketballs.
>>53942003
>How do you shade flat surfaces?
With layers of glazes. Washes are for crevices and intricate detail.
>>53943094
I use jokaero>troll slayer+lahmian medium X2>fire dragon bright+medium> attempt yellow highlight with yriel.
I just got the fuegan in the mail so it's not on any of the immortals yet. Will probably try to put in the recess of the axe. I use blood letter on all the silver gun glowy parts, and then I use gloss varnish on all the oranges. Only thing is I feel it's time consuming and I have like 14 more immortals to paint
