The "Lifeguards" are a guild of somber adventurers who travel the land trying to save surviving people in this miserable time.

They are based out of Fort Peco, an underground shanty town only accessible by traveling through a labrynthine network of water-filled caverns. These caverns seem to be ever in flux. Referred to as "The Burden," all Lifeguards are required to understand a complex system of beacons that allows for safe passage.

Anyone wanna give a brief run down on the races and such in this world for newbies just coming in who are too lazy to read the previous thread?

The Last World is supposed to be paradise by this setting/cosmology's standards, which is 'everything is normal.'

Shit sucks so bad here that 'the Khaos can't get us' is considered the non-hyperbolic best thing anyone can hope for.

The nature of the rough draft worlds God's been making and the Eternal Cycle essentially guarantees it could've happened eventually, if God hadn't taken fragments of the Demiurge, tried to purify them, and been at least slightly corrupted by it.

The best option at this point for anyone left is to get Out the specifics of which we shouldn't pin down.

Yeah, we probably shouldn't elaborate on what getting Out actually -means-. It's best to keep such information vague, and cryptic in order to preserve the sense of the unknown.

Well, it's pretty obvious getting Out means somehow finding a way to completely escape God, the Khaos, and the Eternal Cycle of creation, corruption, and consumption. The Khaos is inevitable, and all God wanted was to find a way to create a world and children who weren't susceptible to it. If the Khaos isn't going to stop, and the plan for God's paradise is shelved (permanently or otherwise), then finding a way to escape the Eternal Cycle entirely is the only option.

Issue being that'd essentially involve a bunch of unknown and unknowable factors that you'd need to look for. Solving even a fraction of the puzzle that leads to getting Out would be a huge deal.

Here's what we can guess.

>Any such attempt to get Out would be an immense undertaking, even if the solution became apparent.
>The Flame is what's told everyone that there's a way Out. Whether or not the information is even accurate is not in doubt, but the Flame hasn't been forthcoming on the details. What information has been gleaned was given to people who were on the brink of suicide.
>The Khaos is likely aware of the prospect of getting Out, as are its minions - whether or not they're bothering to try and prevent it is unknown. Their fixation thus far is corrupting and consuming the Unfinished World, God's creations/children, and generally being faggots and unmaking the Great Work.
