I know. But I always have the choice to either give in to the shitposting or to try to make /tg/ better, even if ineffective.

Shitposting may be low effort, but is rarely rewarding. And even when it is, it's a hollow, short-lived feeling of reward. Even one good kitbash would enrich the thread a hundred times more.

An easy choice, mate. But I am still responsible for half of the threads that start with shitposting, too.

I dunno about them being shit. Ten heralds of tzeetch do al least 10 D3 mortal wounds each turn at 24'' with a Staff of Change for 830 points. Add thousand points of screening units (or even more heralds and then some cheap chaff) and you can repeatedly just melt whatever is closest without a chance at having a save.

>>
Rules question, /40kg/. Does Green Tide mean "as long as" the unit contains 20 or more models? So when 11 boyz die, you lose the extra attack? Or is the stat change permanent--like when you deploy a unit of 30 models, their stats have been permanently altered to be A3 instead of A2.
>>
>>53897829
yeah

Twice the lance attacks, 3+ to hit instead of 4+, carapace, conditional FNP.. no flanking maneuvers hurts, but they're basically just rough riders +1.
>>
>>53897980
Twin Lascannon and Power Scourge.
>>
>>53897925
Jump Packs is cheaper. Both can deep strike. Only difference is that a Drop Pod leaves a useless unit behind that does nothing the rest of the game.

>>
>>53898011

>>
>>53897829
Relative to normal Rough Riders:

pros
>T4
>4+
>FNP against S4 or lower
>DKoK special rules
>better attack from the mount
>2 attacks base

cons
>they don't get flanking
>no chainswords
>no special weapon options (not that big a deal)
>can't get orders from normal guard commanders

They could be quite potent. Really it comes down to cost, and we have no idea what that could be. They could be really pricey--seeing as how normal RRs are 3 power (with more options) and these are 5 (with no options).
>>
>>53897876
>they lack the chainswords
2A base. Two lance attacks > one lance attack + one chainsword attack.
>>
>>53897994
Does it actually? I only skimmed over the Tau mathhammer stuff but it seemed like an extra gun would do better most of the time than the ATS would. If so it would save a lot of points, although I'm not sure where I'd put them... more drones, I guess.

Loss of flanking is literally the only one that really matters there. If you're running DKoK you don't care about orders from other officers, you get DKoK order list from your DKoK officers. This anon >>53898036 explains why the chainsword doesn't matter, and the sergeant actually can take special weapons we just don't know what the list is.

Ork Speed Freaks are meme tier powerful now

You got motherfucking stormboyz making first turn charges

You got bikers that can fly across the board and pump a FUCKTON of shots into anything that moves, then charge it to death after

You got painboys, Big Mek KFF, and Warbosses on Bikes which can shit on anything that moves, and keep them boys alive and grooving

You got deffkoptas which can deepstrike anywhere on the board and pretty much assassinate any vehicle

You got Trukks that can survive the first turn they need to sprint up the board and dump their boy load, then the trukks can suicide into vehicles to stop them from doing jack shit

then you have the ork fliers, which are all okayish, except for the dakkajet which is fucking scary when kitted out fully

pic related, Speed Freak lists are going to be somewhere in the top of tourneys for real

They won't let them into the Deathwing any time soon. Your rank and file guy in green knows jack shit about the chapter's secrets.
>>

The entire Chapter doesn't know, just the Chapter Masters and select few of the Inner Circle. Compartmentalization and all that. Regular rank-and-file Marines are just conditioned to follow the orders of their superiors and can easily be sworn to silence.

Primaris is just a new way of making Marines.

I don't know where people keep getting this meme that Guilliman is taking a bunch of pre-existing Marines and sticking them in another Chapter after they were raised and trained elsewhere. The ones Cawl had on ice are all in G-man's crusade, he's not leaving them behind on other Chapter worlds, he's just delivering the tech and resources to make their own Primaris.

Interrogator Chaplains have ingrained mind-wiping/washing codewords like you'd see in secret agent movies or something. Like reverse sleeper agents. In the Legacy of Caliban trilogy, Asmodai uses it on Belial and makes him forget that he was going to kill Cypher against his orders, and instead makes him think that the injury Asmodai sustained was from Cypher trying to kill him and Belial rescuing him, rather than Belial cutting Asmodai's hand off.
>>
I have this weird idea of letting 20 termagants with devourers come with a trygon prime.

I mean, is this viable points wise? That'd be about 370 points for a unit that would probably annihilate infantry squads and give a high priority target.

Thoughts?

I saw something similar suggested in one of the generals recently. I think it could work rather well, since it removes a big weakness of large devilgaunt squads by getting them in range right away, and also giving a really meaty distraction to help protect them.

I do feel like it might be better to go with a smaller number of gaunts with the big guns and give them a few extra meatshields instead though, like say 25 total, 15 with the good guns, 10 baseline.
>>
>>53898586
It's perfectly viable. People keep making the mistake of thinking that paying the points for a Trygon to Deep Strike something is like a tax on top of that infantry unit, but it's not because you still get a fucking Trygon out of it.

You lose devourers before you get the chance to use them at 8ppm. It's not a worthy trade proposition for devilgants when they're not backed up with termagant sacrifices. >Bred for war, a Death Korps trooper takes the unthinkable step of embracing peace. But in the 41st Millennium, war follows…

>After the horrors of war and the devastation of a world, one unnamed trooper from the Death Korps of Krieg – vat-born, grown to be a soldier – has had enough. Removing his uniform, he takes the identity of a fallen civilian and joins the workforce on the world he fought to liberate. But can this soldier overcome his conditioning and training and serve the Imperium in a new way, or will he forever be a warrior of the Astra Militarum?

This is shit tier fanfiction level writing that is in teh same level as love and krieg stuff. His previous works were not bad but this is inconcievable.
>>
So, are Imagifiers worth it? 40 points for a half shot at an act of faith every turn. Let's say we use that for fighting. Wouldn't it be more cost effective to just buy a new unit and get twice as much shooting, fighting, and objective control?
>>
>>53898631

Yeah, it might be expensive but it really forces the enemy to kill the trygon and its squad while your other units advance towards the enemy.

Didn't even think of dividing the weapons for the gaunts, seems a good idea as you can choose which die first and if you're going all in you can even try to get a Tervigon near them.

I'd be interested what would be the ideal ratio of devilgaunts to regular ones though and if 20 or 30 is the smarter choice.

>>
>>53898709

You deep strike 9" away from the opponent, you're guaranteed to get off all the shots (60 S4, rerolling 1s to wound in case if 20 devilgaunts) in the first turn or later, if you wish.

It is -guaranteed-, that's why this strategy is actually viable and forces the opponent to make a choice in his turn. Either he decimates the termagants + trygon or he gets a face full of devourers

They also absorbed my charges and stalled long enough with 4++ and -1 to hit rolls for HQs/elites to smite everything to death. It hurt.

Remember 1 in 3 chance to land is higher than quite a few weapon hit/wound/gets past save chances. A 3+ BS with a 3+ to wound against 5+ armor is less than 1/3rd. And you still have 18" assault 2 lasguns and a 4++.

New lore for the XE-NOS.

Starting with the Tau.

According to the new 8th ED lore, The Tau are unafraid of all the stuff that's going on. They expanding more than ever and have conquered a vast swath of the galaxy. However, they are meeting greater resistance from the Imperium, Orks, Tyranids, and many more enemies. However, a new enemy comes for the Tau from the darkness of space. An enemy of infinite malice and hate. This new enemy looks hungrily on the shining prosperous Tau worlds. He will come for them soon....

WHO IS THAT ENEMY, TEEGEE?
>>
>>53898919
It has a couple options. It can drop Swarmlord, a Tervigon, Pyrovores (yes really, and unlike most units they can shoot from deep strike because they have 10" flamers), a Haruspex maybe although I'm not convinced he's viable yet. Also loading it up with 5 barbed stranglers makes it expensive but it's a lot of dakka and you realize it's actually pretty efficient when you look at the warrior tax required to run 5 stranglers on them.

Tyranids are up.

According to their 8th ED, LEVIATHAN IS DEFEATED. Hive Fleet Leviathan met its defeat at the Baal system with its ground forces crushed by the Imperials and the majority of its ships being sucked into the Warp by the Great Rift. Apart from some remaining tendrils, this is the end of Hive Fleet Leviathan.

Hive Fleet Hydra now takes Leviathan's place as the most threatening Hive Fleet. Though, the fleet is acting strangely. Hydra is ignoring bio-rich worlds to seek out and consume the splinters and tendrils of past fleets, starting with Leviathan.

But for what purpose?

NEC-RONS time.

Imotekh's plans of galactic conquest did not skip a beat even with the Great Rift ripping the galaxy in half. Imotekh's new focus is the Absorption Wars. They are wars waged by his dynasty on Tomb Worlds that have been awakened by the emergence of the Great Rift. The Sautekh will use the weakened state of these newly awakened Tomb Worlds to absorb them before they fully awaken, to add their strength to their ever growing dynasty.

Other than that, nothing new about the Necrons. Boring as ever.

Presumably to absorb the genetic information that Leviathan gained shortly before it's destruction.

With that information, the Hive Mind will likely go on to craft a more threatening series of Tyranid organisms to better aid in it's eventual consumption of the Galaxy's myriad races.

Similar to how Leviathan attempted to absorb remnants of Kraken on Valedor before the Eldar forsaw the plan and put a halt to it by destroying the world and preventing Kraken's genetic information and findings from ever reaching Leviathan's Bioships.

Probably just an excuse to let tyranid players have lore friendly battles against each other.

But here goes: There is more than one hive mind. The swarm that we original saw was just one hive mind running from another. Outside the galaxy is a millennia old constant battle between two hive minds, the first one eating up as much biomass as possible to fuel their delaying actions against the second. Hive Fleet Hydra is a tendril of the second hive fleet that broke through.

So GW is really desperate to sweep away the wars of old to set up more Chaos vs. Imperium fun

In 8th Edition Rulebook:

-Hive Fleet Leviathan is destroyed at Baal, mainly by Daemons
-Armageddon is invaded by Daemons and Orks/Humans unite to stop them. Not many (if at all) Orks left after the battle
-New Tyranid hive fleets are starting to eat older Tyranid fleets for an unknown reason

By 10th edition I doubt we'll have xenos anymore.

They're a little weird and out there since they aren't overseen by Jes Goodwin who is the one that keeps the whole modern Tyranid range consistent, but I don't think they're bad. The Hierodule is really out of date and could use a new sculpt but the "recent" ones like Malanthrope and Dimachaeron are neat. I would be fascinated to see how Forge World would do an entire Tyranid range if they added Hive Fleet Ouroboros to the Horus Heresy (never gonna happen of course)

A Daemon Prince is a mortal who has pleased the entities of the Warp enough to be elevated to Daemonhood.

A Greater Daemon is a piece of their own patron deity that has been molded into a sentient daemonic general that will go forth and do that God's bidding.

A Greater Daemon will always be born in the warp and will never have a mortal origin like a Daemon Prince does.

>>53900077
Greater daemons are completely a function of their patron. Princes are partially what they were before having their patron go in and rearrange things, and generally have some power of their own. The Prince will also have its own ambitions that may not be exactly what their patron desires. Exactly how much they gain from the process varies, presumably depending on their patron's whims and the prince-to-be's capability. A Primarch is capable of beating up one of the Blood God's favoured as a primarch, so any gain is an increase in power.

I'm declaring this now, as a Guard player.

Any Ork player who wants to use the Looted Vehicles may do so in games with me.

Here's the rule:
You may take a Looted Vehicle at the same cost, power and points, and role, Heavy Support or otherwise, that the original army would have. It must have the 'vehicle' keyword ('monster' is up for negotiation but you better have a fucking awesome looted carnifex). It has BS 5+ and WS 4+ or whatever its original WS was, whichever is worse. Variants on the 'explodes', 'open-topped', and other special rules (open to negotiation) are carried over, while faction-specific keywords, buffs, and the ability to benefit from any buffs that being an Ork vehicle would bring do not (it's looted, not kustom, ya git).

GIMME SOME WAAAAAGH
>>
>>53900618
It also costs less than half as much, and two Dimachaerons with average rolls will bring a Knight to a little under half health in one fight phase, and probably survive the retaliatory strike.

Plastic Thunderhawk is rumoured to be the Primaris Flyer.

They teased us early knowing we would fall for the Forge World resin remake so they could bait-and-switch.

The Dark Imperium novel has Primaris Marines flying around in a new Thunderhawk variant called the Overlord which is not the Forge World one.

With Chapters and Hive Fleets and Clans and whatever, it's possible that with the release of the Codices, players will be able to choose from a selection of sub-factions like Ultramarines, White Scars, Raven Guard, etc. in order to get the associated Chapter Tactics. And, like the Flesh Tearers, you can make your own Chapter by just assuming the identity of one of the Chapters listed and replacing all instances of <Standard Chapter> with <Custom Chapter>. So basically like last edition where you can have the Purple Warriors be Ultramarines by just saying that they use <Ultramarines> Chapter Tactics.

Of course, each Chapter's special Characters still queue to their own unique Chapter, like Calgar to Ultramarines and Pedro to Crimson Fists, but for everything generic it still works fine for Your Dudes.

We just don't have anything, save maybe association with special characters and Inquisitor Ordos, to give these <Faction Keywords> any meaning at the moment, just memesters spamming the Wu Tang BS by RAW. That stuff would probably be shipped in with the Codex releases.

>Thunderhawk variant called the Overlord
It's described as an oversized Corvus Blackstar, not a Thunderhawk

He was still wrong, sinc he reported it as such.

The Deep Aelves he said we'd see previews of months ago, nothing.

Is taking two flamers in an assault squad pretty much always a better choice than the plasma gun? I remember someone saying that i'm only ever gonna want flamers and an eviscerator on the sarge.

You should cut one of the morkanauts, and replace those gretchin with boy blobs you can march up the board alongside the leftover morkanaut

I just realized that, barring Assault marines, i have enough marines to run an entire battle company. Is a 60-tactical, 20-devestator, 20-ass marine force viable?

I have never played a marine army that isnt chaos, all these vanilla marines just randomly come into my hands through bundles and friends retiring from the hobby

New Necrons are boring as fuck. Anything that does damage costs double what it should and everything else doesn't hurt enough to be worthwhile.

Honestly thinking of starting from scratch with something new.

>Putting 100 models on the table and catching bullets
>Praying to stay alive and RP because you can't kill anything

>literally an NPC race, just a challenge to see how much the opponent can kill

People actually find that fun?

1. Drill it.
2. scrape dem moldlines.
3. put another magazine on the side. 2 barrels, 2 mags! needz more ammo, ya git!
>>
>>53901567
>you can't kill anything
you take half a dreadnoughts wounds with a warrior blob per shooting phase, what drugs are you on
>>
>>53901567
god you're a retarded baby, by staying around you can kill stuff
>>
>>53901625
Wow a whole 4 wounds call the fucking space pope
>>53901640
You don't stay around against anything with reasonably strong firepower, like mass Heavy Flamers, Knights, Artillery, or just enough Heavy Bolters. Killing 20 models with Scout statlines is fucking easy.
>>
>>53901774
I'm reminded of that tau player who wondered what the point of anything that didnt kill an enemy unit per turn was. Your basic troop is the best basic troop in the game
>>
>>53901813
>a bunch of dudes with slightly better Bolters

Is better than

>4/5 point fearless Nid blobs
>Guard Heavy Weapon spam in every slot
>Brimstone Horrors spamming Smite on essentially free point models with a 4++
>Scions deep striking in with Plasma spam
>Harlequins with 4++, advance/charge or Soulburst, and insanely good weapons
>Berserkers in Rhinos

But please, tell me more about how slow dudes with no special or heavy weapons are better because AP-1
>>
>>53901912
I agree that warriors ain't the very best, but damn are they hard to get rid of without double the unit's points in anti horde.

Why stop at 2 magazines? Also, it needs a bayonette, and the boss needs a gitfinda.
