Write a strongly worded letter of protest! No, I won't. Other than that, it was a good story. I just hope they got it out of their system and don't overdo it.

One thing they did overdo: breaking backs over knees.
>Russ to Magnus
>the Lion to Curze
>Sanguinius to Ka'Bandha
>Horus to the Emperor

I'm guessing Gav will forget about that scene and have Luthor break the Lion's back over his knee when Caliban rolls around.

They have a contemptor that's been around since the Heresy so I'd include him.

Yeah, they blew up all the traitor homeworlds that hadn't already been blown up. (Okay, it was often a mere scouring rather than exploding the planet.)

While looking up what happened I got a link titled "Colchis, land of the golden fleece." An old kingdom in what's now Georgia (the Georgia that Stalin was from, not Coca-Cola). One of the first to practice circumcision. The description of 40k Colchis in The First Heretic kind of matches. It broke up after being bombarded after the Heresy.

Chemos was bombed and quarantined. Chthonia was bombed, not much info given. No info at all about Barbarus but I'm not sure it could be made any worse. We all know what happened to Prospero, and Nostramo and Olympia were destroyed by their own primarchs.

The Blood Ravens' homeworld is "Cyrene Secundus"???

If the blood ravens got a home world in DoW3 I'm pissed
Also circumcision would first be practiced in the Fertile Crescent because you require civilisation to develop the tools for those practices.
Georgia the US state is based off King George 1 of England founding it.
Also Herodotus had a right laugh making two iberias and two Albanias, which if you look up gives stormfront as the first suggestion

MK7 is being phased out anyway, figured now is as good a time as any to work it into my HH stuff

Cue ADB sperging out over confirming Ravens are canon TS successors.

I like ADB but he freaks out over weird things. And I'm still absolutely tickled that 8E happened after he spent a long time saying the timeline would never advance.
>>

>over confirming Ravens are canon TS successors
Unless something new came out I don't think the Ravens have been "confirmed" as such, just heavily implied.
>>
>>53897632

That HH short story about Revuel Arvida on Prosero made him freak out over how heavily they hinted TS = Blood Ravens.

The 40k White Scars' tradition of hunting down an enemy seems to be taken from the way the Mongols hunted down Muhammad II of Khwarezm and Bela of Hungary after they killed Mongolian envoys.

There's no need to be a Chaos-tier cuckold who gets fucked over and asks for more. If the Emperor won't keep the oaths he swore to his sons why should they keep their oaths to the Emperor? If the Emperor fell to Chaos should all the legions stay "loyal" to him?
>>

Yeah, you have rivals on either an ideological basis or just bad blood; so for example the IF and IW are rivals because Dorn and Perty don't like each other, but IF and AL are also rivals because their tactics are so different.

>>
>>53901940
Yeah, that's true, you're right, I'm just splitting hairs. Them all being in his cabal makes sense. And they show up in the Ahriman series because they're with Amon or he seeks them out.
I guess it was just that they're all there, no-one died inbetween. Even Mordant Hex shows up for a cameo, although that was kinda cool.
The only one missing was Ctesias but I'm not even sure he was a proper original Thousand Son.
I guess it's just that it's so neat. The only question mark was over Hathor Maat, you knew everyone else would make it out okay.

Also, I think there was a cut subplot about Ignis getting Credence. I thought he was going to defeat the cybernetica tech guy and do some magic shit with him, but instead that guy vanishes and Ignis just randomly steals a robot.

So, /hhg/, how do you truly feel about 8th edition?

Would it really fit 30k, or would FW streamlining 7E into 7.5E with the new red book be infinitely better.

While I like vehicles being more survivable, not having an armour facing makes a lot of tactics redundant. That and transports and other vehicles are infinitely more expensive. Not to mention terminators.

I understand your point, but the only Reductor that we know of, besides the meme armies of anons, is Caleb Decima. Him and a bit of fluff in HH Tempest.
But yes, there should be more of the Basilikon Astra, and more Autokrator as well for good measure.
What do those guys even do? Do they drive the tanks or do they build them.

Because this is a skirmish scale war game with rules and lote focused on the soldiers on the ground. Yeah battle barges and stuff are probably the most powerful tool is a space marines arsenal but if we wantes to mess about woth those this would be bfg general

so they just build and maintain the most destructive and useful technology the Mechanicum can muster?

What is a Space Marine compared to a Cruiser? Fuck that what is even an Emperor Titan compared to a Cruiser? Yet the Titans get their shafts sucked at every opportunity while they can't even hurt a Voidcraft, much less get anywhere without it.
>>

Because GW hasn't re-released Battlefleet Gothic yet.

Remember when Knights were barely mentioned in fluff? From the end of the original epic in the 90s to about 2014, there wasn't a peep about them.

Now they're everywhere again, not just minis but in lore and books. Because GW re-introduced Knights into the game.

When they remake BFG (which is inevitable by this point, nu-GW is trying to milk anything classic) they will introduce the Mechanicus fleet to compliment those Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus armies. Then we'll get some fluff about them
>>
>>53903833
I get your point, but 40k is very much immature in its priorities. Rule of cool, the guy with the flashiest sword and biggest pauldrons is most important

Space Marines fighting each other with giant chainswords and giant robots battling will always trump shipbuilders.

There is a lot of fan-interest in the Gloriana Class Battleships, I suspect eventually there will be a filler HH book about the crews on them and be about naval combat.

I was aiming to play at a 1000pt tournament, but I dunno if the Sisters have it in them to compete against other 1000pt lists that are Magnus+Renegade Knight, or just 2 Knights.

I meant how, because of the rules incentives, would-be Taghmata players are persuaded to play Reductor because their exclusive units are powerful, they gain super move through cover and the limits (six Thallax, don't over do it on boops) are very easy to fulfill, while Taghmata is like chaos undivided but worse and offers you nothing.
Pretty much the only reason why someone would play regular Taghmata is when they are planning to take three Magi and none of them is a Reductor. The other scenario would be robots, but that's covered by Cybernetica.

Seriously this magos has apparently spent the past 10,000 years making new shit so GW can pull awesome stuff out their arse and just say lol, Cawl did it'.

Also while a lot of people like the new rules a lot of other people think they are a dumbing down of the rules with things like leadership and initiative having little effect on things and vehicle facings not mattering anymore.

Fluff is always nice, we don't have enough custom armies around here. My Reductor, couple Custodes and Blackshields and a Loyalist Iron Warrior horde is all I can remember off the top of my head.

Reductor is only frowned on if you go full cheese without a good reason, I think. We don't have enough fluff to be hated as a Faction even if our lore wasn't cool as fuck anyway. Just don't go Droplite, Gravidon, Medusa, Krios Venator and Adsecularis spam on some poor Astartes infantry wave and you'll be fine, and there's certainly armies out there who can take on even that, although not many.

I'm building a Dark Angels army that I have wrote fluff for and I would like to incorporate the reductor forces into the fluff but play them as a separate army on the table top. I really like thallax and ursarax, Krios fluff says they weren't used outside of Taghmata forces so i won't be using them because I'm a fluff autist. I'll probably load up on artillery batteries of various types, demolisher cannon and colossus bombard are my favourite. Droplite and Adsec units don't appeal to me at all.

WIP is fine, unpainted is worthless (barring some impressive kitbashing, sculpting or converting).

Basically, unless you're actually doing something to make your models truly YOURS, they lack vision and frankly it's an insult that we're expected to care.

Have a decent tabletop standard.

I paint assembled, since there are rarely spots that I cannot reach that will still be seen. Combined with a broad application of the base layer and any washes, missed spots are almost un-noticable.

>>53913306
Also, as they've said, lets also see some of your painted work. Even if it's only a little bit at a time, something is better than nothing. Anyone can trim and glue a miniature together, even if it does look nice., but your painting skills are where the quality of your work will be truly judged. I know my work is mediocre at best, but even I've gotten a few positive remarks, so give it a crack and let us see it!
>>
>>53910745
I liked it, but I could've done without the entire Loken arc. A lot of HH novels tried to split their focus too much, imo. Should've just turned it into a novella or something.

I liked the knight house on Molech.
>>
>>53913895
A WIP is a WIP. An unpainted miniature is eh at best, and unless it is some sculptural work of art, it doesn't really mean much.

Because even the most well designed miniature will only look as good as its paintjob allows it to. A good paintjob can make a shitty miniature look amazing, and a bad paintjob can make an amazing miniature look shitty. Your work is fine, but there's not really a whole lot we can say about it til we see paintjobs. The only thing you might get, of negative value at that, is some armor-autist crawling out of the woodwork to complain about the suit being incorrect or something.

>its not a tank simulator and was never meant to be
>>53911032
Armor facings are probably the one thing I'll miss the most when we switch over. In theory, FW could bring them back by adding a special rule a lot of vehicles (mostly medium tanks) that would give a -1T modifier for hits from the side or rear. That would mean adding arcs back into the game, but that's fine; the current HH rules add a few things on top of 7th ed 40k rules (like 6th ed scoring rules). They can always add things.

The problem is that defining arcs is tricky and, like templates, is probably one of those things that resulted in arguments and time-wasting. It's easy enough to draw lines through the corners of a Rhino or Land Raider, but what about a Caladius, or a knight? Maybe simplify it and take a toughness penalty if the enemy (or just their weapon?) is behind a line drawn tangent with the frontmost part of your vehicle. Yeah, I'd do something like that.

That's adorable. I have no idea how the Mechanicum/OR treats kids, although I suspect it's some variant of "get out the way and go learn to siege".

I told Canaris to stop experimenting with those blasted Warpstone engines, but I guess they seem to work.
Cargo hauler variant, probably not a huge information leak given they're not exactly combat ships, but it does explain the increasing numbers of floating tiny pet whales in the geneoforge vats of late. I thought the kids just wanted Cyber-Occularis, but apparently not.

Any fluff inconsistencies or clunky sentences will be ironed out in time. Regarding the edict I may have a bit about the Knight Errant being given permission from Malcador to "do whatever is necessary and use any weapons he has at his disposal" to complete his objectives, the KE interprets this as psychic time bitches.

Most of my DA characters have yo olde English or Hebrew names, I think these names fit their fluff quite well.

I might take this this fluff in the direction of how far can they go before they aren't exactly the good guys anymore, with some characters saying that the end justifies the means and others being like yeah okay but don't phosphex a bunch of human shields to kill one traitor astartes.

To be fair, the definition of "good guy" is rather wide compared to what they're fighting. Hell, the Reductor wouldn't even blink in that situation, they'd happily go all Sierra Madre on somewhere for minimal miltiary gain as long as there was SOME, and they were mostly Loyalist (despite everyone playing Traitor Mechanicum because they get even more cool toys and characters) and widely praised in comparison to the Cybernetica, who just killed people with power fists, bolt cannons and plasma for the most part and were considerably more humane.

My fluff for my Heresy-Era Imperial Fists isn't too bad, I think.

The 1st Company of the 1st Battalion of the 13th Chapter of the Imperial Fists, known as "The Lucky 13's", is a force within the Legion that compromises entirely of veteran battle-brothers. Their specialty is that of all other Imperial Fists, however, their history is an odd one; compromising of an unusual number of original Terran-Crusade based legionnaires that were present before Dorn's arrival, these battle-brothers found themselves on personal request operations from mouth of the Primarch himself, an abnormal amount of trust placed within them amongst a handful of other companies compared to any other forces within the Legion.

While not unusual, The Lucky 13's found themselves doing an inordinate amount of siege work on rebel or alien worlds during the Great Crusade, almost always being the first and last word for compliance amongst planets. It was here they made their name, as they found themselves continuously lucky in numerous ways during each mission; whether it was unusually fast warp jumps, no casualties during an operation, or even something as bizarre as a Lascannon shot simply scoring light burns across some battleplate. It was only after the Heresy began did the 13's find their luck being tested. Still finding themselves breaking down walls, this company now also found their calling in running even more personal request operations from the Primarch; often razing traitorous garrisons, headhunting specific traitors, and working misdirection operations amongst many others.

>>53923969
It will mostly focus on my praetor as he is super noble and honourable. He will understand that this is war and his actions are necessary but the amount of collateral damage that occurs will eat away at him while his lieutenants try to sit him firmly on one side of the fence, the dreadwing and ironwing warriors want him to embrace full destruction while the ravening and Deathwing would prefer a lighter approach. There isn't enough info on storming and firewing for me to decide where they sit.
>>
Seeing as people are posting fluff, I'm doing a BA force. The idea is that they predate the reunification with Sanguinius (or some of them do, at least), so they're less noble than most of the legion and more given over to acts of ruthlessness as a result of hanging around too much with SoH and DA. They suffered the effects of the red thirst fairly heavily before Sanguinius was brought in and the geneseed stabilised (as did all the legion). Their aesthetic is more medieval gothic than renaissance, a bit closer to the typical Imperial look in that regard. The idea is that they're the precursor to the Knights of Blood 40k chapter, so they share their badge and aesthetic of metallic armour with red pauldrons, helmet, and backpack. The force I'm building has a lot of dreads and some land speeders, wears MkIII on footsloggers I pray every day for plastic MkII assault marines, and one day I think I'll get them a caestus.
>>
>>53924333
Cool story. Any named characters yet? Specific battles in the heresy they were a part of? A good idea to grimdarken that fluff would be to somehow have something happen during the heresy that turns their luck around or imply that there's some sort of sinister reason (warpcraft?) behind their 'luck'.

I've mostly been working on the lore for my preator. I'll see if I can post a quick version when I'm done with work.

It's not that wierd.
>already have MkIII and MkIV
Oh well I guess MkII or V is next up.
>already have both variants of regular termies
Well, what other variant of regular marines are there, oh I know bikers. And jetbikes are badass and unreasonably expensive.
>BoP and BaC have two HQ models
Well I guess we'll have two HQs.

I'm more amused than anything. We all know what we want, but will GW continue to listen?

Thramas crusade

Mk2 armour, options for assault and breahers.

Two generic hq units rather than the monopose models, allowing for easy weapon swaps and legion upgrades to be applied.

Anything after this is icing. Maybe some jetbikes?

I want assault marines, FW ones are hella costly. MkII ideally, or MkV at a push. Ideally they'd do them like the death company kit, which includes five marines with both normal backpacks and jump packs, as well as both bolters and close combat options, that way everybody can be pleased.

They've run out of terminator marks, so I don't know what would take their place, maybe bikes or a support unit. Some kind of vehicle or larger thing would be nice. Characters are better when generic.

Keeping the topic of HH plastic sets, what tank would you like to see released in plastic? I'd love to see deimos pattern rhinos and predators, keeping the big tanks in resin as central pieces. What do you think?
>>
>>53925796
I'd like the Land Speeders and their variants first; they're widely underrepresented.

Eventually if you move to the Deimos chassis it invalidates a huge number of FW items so I don't think it would happen for a long time.

Malcador.

I don't really use tanks, but deimos pattern stuff aside it'd be cool to see upgrade sprues for Vindicators and Predators etc. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the Malcador in a multi-choice plastic kit though! I might misremember, but IG can use that tank too for 40K, so really it's double win.

Deimos pattern stuff must be a big seller though. Part of the point of releasing MkIV and MkIII in plastic was that they were the most popular armour marks, meaning that a lot of FW's manufacturing capacity was taken up with them. The profit margins are much larger on plastic than resin, if you're shifting high enough volumes of something it's the logical choice. Plastic Deimos pattern might be acheivable with a single sprue upgrade for the standard plastic rhino variants (plus another few for turrets), given that's what FW's kit is too.

>>genuinely believes more 30k plastics will ever happen
so deluded
