Thanks, I was thinking of grey, black, & red. I know the colors are uninspired but I'm a fan of Red Tailed hawks (pic related) & was planing on doing something similar to the Hawks markings on an Inceptor Squad, but a more vibrant red, & the brown & white switched to black & ash grey. I'm not trying for too much crazy colors, just an interesting placement. Maybe a skull & other bones painted on veterans, because of their ancestor worship. But that is only if I feel confident after painting it basic.

Scouts, are they worth taking now? Snipers, CC, or bolters if they are?

Screen units deal with charges, and it's a land raider with a 4++. So it's slightly tankier than the land raider. It'll die to enough anti-tank, but it definitely will not go down without a fight.
The thing it seems to struggle against is small elite infantry like termies. It doesn't get a massive amount of shots against them nor does it have copious amounts of damage, so it takes a while to whittle them down, 2 turns to be exact.

Battle Sister Squads are efficient at killing conscripts, and have a 3+ save, which means they don't get killed easily in return.

Dominons can move3d6+18 in the first turn through their act of faith, vanguard, and normal move.

yes, I have found out that heavy weapons squads suck ass in the moral phase. The loss of one heavy weapon can send the whole squad into battleshock hell. Now I am going to hide my heavy weapons in my infantry squads.

with 2 Heavy Flamers and a Storm Bolter, it rounds out to 107 Points, the same as an Immolator with an Immolation Flamer and Storm Bolter.

+4 Carrying Capacity and 6 Fire Points, an extra Wound, and x3 attacks on the charge against infantry, in exchange for losing 4" of range and the ability to advance + shoot in the same turn.

So an Immolator can rush upfield and start attacking faster, but a Repressor will get there with greater firepower and can act as a bunker for the sisters inside. The extreme usage rate of Immolators for sisters means most squads are 6 models or smaller anyway. Dominions in a Repressor will clear 24" of board turn 1, and the rules for the fire points allow them to still fire their flamers or meltaguns (at BS 4+ for the latter) even if the Repressor advances. While the Dominions are inside a T7, W12 3+ Faith-Shielded box.

Downside is that keeping your girls inside them disables Acts of Faith, and if I understand correctly, the Canoness' accuracy boosting aura.

Anyone have general thoughts on the Phoenix Lords this edition? They all seem very cool and thematic, if a bit underwhelming for their points cost.

I'd like to build an army that is basically an entire phoenix court (including avatar) but don't know what else to thematically bring with it.

Ordinary chapters, from the space marine index, can take them, but Deathwatch and Gray Knights have very specific lists on their Index regarding what you can or cannot provide the DEATHWATCH or GRAY KNIGHTS keywords.

It's impossible to field a Deathwatch Predator, for instance. Theyre in a seperate index than Space Marines and considered to be seperate subfactions within the Imperium, for the purposes of rules.

All right, so let's say I like Iron Hands.
Most don't have any Chapter Tactics right now, nor any unique Detachments.
Certain chapters still at least have named characters, so you can get a little identity out of bringing Lysander or something.

I'm seeing these FW leaks, and they include a lot of neat Dreadnoughts and Relic Tanks, which is a big thing in Iron Hands, but I've reached an impasse anyway.

If I bring a bunch of Dreadnoughts, how the fuck do I actually make them Iron Hands? Like, if the guy next to me brings the same list, but throws in Calgar, his shit suddenly actually gains something. If I bring a CM or a Techmarine or two, is that really enough?

I don't want to show up to the table with a black and steel painted army and then have to say, "Oh, I'm just using Ultramarines for the purposes of rules though." That sounds like it'd be real fuckin shit.
