Like an idiot I bought a Malcador Annihilator but want to field it as the battlecannon/demolisher cannon variant. What's the best way to convert the turret? Been looking at the cannons from a taurox prime and imperial knight as possible candidates but not too sure which would fit best.

You probably won't see tracked tanks and crab tanks from the same forges. Different motive power for different terrain (GW thinks all planets have one type of climate and terrain).

When they were created, the Reductor were separated from the martian command hierarchy and thus no longer had ready access to the Skitarii legions (don't know why), but in their newfound errant freedom they decided they would make their ideal shock trooper, more resilient than the average Skitarii since they lacked the people and the mass production of small arms to arm them.
Why they don't use Kataphrons? Beats me. Why they weren't simply gifted some Skitarii? I'm guessing it's because they didn't have the forgeworld-tier manufacturing capacities needed to mantain such an army, but they do use Thallax soldiers as currency for deals. I'm justifying it here.
But if the Taghmata recieved the Skitarii, that'd be the thing that would make Taghmata worthy of being used, instead of them being mere undecided Reductor players.

Luckily white scars are pretty much the only legion where every BL book they are in is good though that'll change at Terra no doubt so HH9 ought to turn out decent.

Yeah, there's basically nothing you don't want one of the specialist divisions for short of small allied detachments with Adsecularis troops.

Doesn't stop almost every YouTube batrep with the Mech being the same Thallax/Castellax/Thanatar/Magos mix with occasionally some Krios or Adsec thrown in, though. I will admit it looks pretty cool, though. Shame Thallax are a bit useless half the time, but I'd probably still take six even if I didn't have to because they look so awesome.

The one time I saw a Reductor list batrep, it utterly annihilated the MWG Alpha Legion player with hardly any losses, and executed Alpharius after he tried to march towards Gravidons with only Dynat in tow without even using One With Many. Man, that guy does NOT know how to XX.

Considering all this talk of everyone's favourite Martian bombardier boys, what's the general consensus on how to run Ordo Reductor? I've been interested in starting a force, probably with either a support Lachrimallus/Adescularis Techblob or a Macrotek Turtlebunker. Any thoughts, or other (read: probably better) ways to play them?

To make best use of our truly superlative tonks, deepstriking tanksniping troops, Droplites, whatever the hell else, you'll want an Archimandrite as your Warlord for 2+ reserves and IWND on every single vehicle. That means you need a Magos Reductor (I recommend just giving him a Machinator and having him mind the artillery, buffing and fixing on 3+) and the Archimandrite, leaving you without a HQ slot free in Matrix of Ruin. No big deal unless you're going for Blitzkrieg, you can just use the normal Force Org.

Always fun as fuck, although I use Levies instead. Respawning tarpits are glorious trolling, and I'd never take less than 40 even with no LachriMagos. Seeing as they respawn, it's probably worth going for the full 375 to get 20x3 Fearless, 4+ 5+FnP Hatred guys.

Good for siege battles, but you've got kinda short range outside some of the artillery and decent mobility on everything. Also, no forts with Matrix of Ruin. I've bunkered down a couple times, but it kinda turns into a snipefest unless you know your opponent is coming to you.

My personal two favourite methods, neither exclusive for yours and I run a mix of these two and Techblob:

3) Armoured Charge. You take your mandatory Thallax, you then nab a couple nice toys from the other slots, and with the entirety of your HS choices, you take a 2:1 ratio of cheap PotMS Vindicators and Krios Venators. Expensive, but hilarious when your opponent sees at least six Fast, Scoring Tanks with pure bullshitonium weaponry regenerating as they rush towards him.

Follow up with deepstrikes and whatever else.

4) Red Lightning. Fed up with all the slow beepboops, you take a plane, deepstriking Thallax and Ursarax, speedy vehicles, Droplites and Dropidons Jump Pack Magi, mix in a little #3. Get in their faces and rip them to bits while they struggle to realize that you can do fast with the best of them.

Thallax should never be above 3 men, too expensive. Either give them Destructor and a Photon Thruster or Multimelta to hunt tanks, or Ferrox and Heavy Chainblades, use them to poke, score harass and tarpit. They don't kill things, but they do everything else.

I would recommend at least one of the following for Spartans, big LoWs and Primarchs:

- Droplite squad
- Gravidon Squad, with some kind of transport
- Two or more Krios Venators (Them with Master of Destruction is sex, turns them into basically 4-shot Sunder Laser Destroyers)
- Two or more Vulturax and a managing Dominus (or Satarael as Warlord)
- A Lightning Fighter.

Artillery can't handle Spartanstars efficiently, but they can sure help, or obliterate the contents if you pop it. I run both the Droplites and the Grav, but my meta is deathstar central so it's kinda required. One should be more than enough most times.

You CAN take automata, but Cybernetica does it better, as do the Legions sometimes. Take if you want some cool boops, pretty much none of them save the Domitar are bad. I am planning three Castellax to escort Satarael around.

Enginseers are good if you have three or more artillery tanks, I'd say below that they're a tad inefficient due to lack of fixing above and beyond what the Magos Reductor can do himself.

Walkers In Ruin makes us actually pretty nippy, even without speed buffs we close the enemy down deceptively fast since they can't limit our angles of attack at all and don't suffer -2 to Charge through terrain. Ursarax like that.

We can do pretty much anything, or like me, a melange of most of it all together since we have stupid synergy between everything with Magi Prime specialists and Magos Reductor battering rams. Remember, we don't just siege, we solve Outside Context Problems like nobody else, and that gives us a hell of a toolbox.

How silly would it be to run a Custode army with no vehicles besides Dreadnoughts? I have two Achillus and two Galatus and was thinking of a pure deep strike force with them, Valdor/Tribune, 3-4 squads of Sentinels/Guardians, and maybe a squad of Sagittarum.

The thing they've really got going for them would be their access to defense lines and a ridiculous amount of cheap infantry.

Any thoughts on the IF RoW Hammerfell Strike Force? I know it get's tossed under the rug alot but I really dig the idea of teleporting in massed infantry across the board and I'm trying to figure out a way for it to work well.

So far my thoughts are using a Seeker or Destroyer squad to obtain a Land Raider Proteus and giving it an explorator augury web. That way it can find it's way to a safer location for the unit to pop out and mow some infantry down backed up by a trio of twin-linked lascannons. Then I'd be using their nuncio vox to accurately beam down large squads of troops farther down the board, and giving that tacts have nuncio's as well I can keep teleporting them accurately into the mid field.

I have a few more ideas on the matter I'm still working out, a Damocles would be helpful to but that's going to be starting in reserves.

And I'm thinking that pinesol is going to be too harsh for what I want to try, which is take a toothbrush, dip it in the solvent, and give it a light scrub and rinse in an attempt to take off just the top layer or two.

Droplites is a squad of Secutarii Hoplites in an Arvus Lighter. Deepstrike in, hop out, fire 12 BS5 Haywire shots into the back of a Superheavy or Spartan that looked at you funny then run your surprisingly durable scoring squad around his deployment zone and force him to kill it, or they'll gut the rest of his vehicles or tie up his artillery and such

Dropidons is the same, but with Myrmidon Secutors with Graviton guns - more durable, less damage. Alternatively, put a Gravidon squad in the Arvus and kill deathstars on what's practically remote control.

Gravidons are Myrmidon Destructors with Graviton Imploders, they'll wound almost all the time against deathstars because BS5 Preferred Enemy grav weapons. Pops Primarchs really quite well, although they do need transport for short ranged weapons.

In a mechanicum list where they're jetpack scoring units they can be useful but I wouldn't waste heavy support slots on them, they're expensive if you max them out and can only have 1 special weapon per 3. I tend to use 2 x 3 man squads with destructor and a photon thruster and use their mobility to keep them out of trouble whilst sniping with the photon thruster from a distance for my mechanicum. With SA I'd just take some more tanks. The leman russ executioner would have a higher damage output.

Pulling apart an ebay Land Raider with my bare hands, hobby knife, and my bare hands to get at the juicy engine block inside before cleaning it up and re-assembling it better than the guy who built it the first time did. The Land Raider and other CSM projects are taking priority for the moment for the fate of Konor summer campaign thing because one of my friends is a devout loyalist and my other main 40k friend is mostly Eldar/Tau/Nids and has a small force of Raven Guard he started last year, meaning that the burden is mine to carry. I must, for the good of the hobby, take it upon myself to Destroy Ultramar.

Pretty much; depending on how you spray it can come out more matte versus satin. If you overgloss the whole model and the use satin, it brings the colors back to full tone but removes any overshine or lack of depth. You could also use Semi-Gloss if the entire model is already bright metallics.

About solar,how do you beat em with your mechanicum anon? It is truly a pain playng agaist a Fucking Aegis wall with 80 LD10 dudes , 3 dracosan with demolitioner plud volkite veletaris and usually 3 basilisk/medusa and some rapier around

They deeply dislike Macrocarids as far as I can tell. Scout forward, burn their Rapiers and infantry lines with Irrad Engines then tank all the I incoming shooting with Flare Shield and IWND/Magi repairing the couple glances you'll probably take. Droplites work well too, melt an entire tank squadron and have slightly too much armour to massacre easily. Bring a bit of your own artillery andl lay Reductor counterbattery fire with Master of Destruction, too Ordnance Sunder AP1 Barrage Medusae or Assault 4 Sunder Laser Destroyers will happily omnomnom HP from Dracosans. Send your Thallax down behind their walls if you can get a spot, poke at rear armour of tanks and such and make sure you lay down Cyber-Occularis to slash their Aegis cover saves and grant your AT weaponry Interceptor in case they try the outflanking Russes. Run some of your own blobs, Adsec or Levies, doesn't matter if they get chewed up by lasguns or Volkite they're just there to stall them and push against their line. If you can get anything like Ursarax to melee all will die, but watch for Demolishers or target them down as you wait for Archimandrite and Explorator Web 2+ rerollable reserves.

When exactly does this all happen? In Betrayer Lorgar tries to convince Magnus to join the Traitors and Magnus (post-Prospero) isn't sure yet. The implication was that he wasn't going to fully turn on the Emperor until later in the Heresy. We are later in the Heresy now, obviously, but was Lorgar only talking to a shard?

You want the Macrocarid because you can use the front irrads to sweep holes through Aegis 2+ cover blobs, Triaros doesn't really cut it. Trust me, if you're rolling with artillery you want all four Occularis. They do so much nonsense it's unreal, and they're just sticky enough to annoy the shit out of Solar units with a billion points invested. Nobody wants to waste four Lascannon to fail to kill one bug, but I've seen it happen just because it was wedged between an aegis line and a building calling in artillery strikes all over his basilisks and command bunker, and unlike Legions they can't even shoot all the random Rhinos at it and hope.

Regular Krios suck spectacularly, especially against an army with almost no 3+. You may as well drop a Vorax and upgrade them all to Extra Armour-less Venators, you'll need them.

Empyrite Thallax add nothing whatsoever in regular games, they can already deepstrike outside of Zone Mortalis.

Myrmidons work, although you'll probably want only three and a Macrocarid, slice out a Castellax, downgrade the artillery to Medusae since they're Machine Spirit and need to bust tanks, remove their Dozer Blades because you ignore terrain anyway as Reductor. If you have spare points or don't mind cutting a Phosphex Bomb, take Enhanced Targeting on the Vulturax. Makes both his launchers and Haywire gun far more effective.

For me it's competent CC. I've got enough shooting from Peltasts and heavier weapons but most of my units will either tarpit for a couple of turns or outright fold. I've thought about ursarax and Castellax but they don't fit well in my lists.

Feels good about it,large variety of unit,everything playable,only against solar and militia it a bit a pain becouse of undercosted-dudes with hight bodycount and heavy barrage rain(i start to put machinator array everywere becouse of basilisk),so is a MUST play cybernetica or reductor.

Almost nothing plays EXACTLY like you'd expect it to at a glance. Skitarri are both sturdier and faster than you'd expect footslogging troops to be, katapharons look like they'd be your dream troops tanks until you realize that their just a hair short in terms of range to be super useful with how slow they are. And that's just with 40k, 30k I don't even know enough about to say for sure about anything really.

I play Reductor, not the other types, but since I do a lot of different shit with it weaknesses vary by list. Basically, we WILL win shooting matches. Don't even try to standoff us unless you are the cheesiest of cheese Ironfire or Solar Auxilia. Deathstars fold instantly under grav and artillery, plus Haywire bullshit of the highest order.

We're kinda tough and can field some nasty tarpits, but only a couple units are actually any good in melee.

Drop Pods and flyer lists are our bane, since they'll show up, light up the artillery with combi-meltas then be a massive pain to get rid of.

My 3k list, in particular is pretty specialized to Fuck Tanks mode because Iron Hands and Spartanstars are common here, but there's 150-ish bodies there, that's actually quite scary.

Quadmortars will basically cancel out my tarpit blobs, and the infantry will mulch any that get through, so I can't rely on them. Thallax are Demolisher bait, but the Lightning Fighter will happily blow that Infernus clean open, or my Droplites will do it if you can Intercept with your two lascannon. My artillery can spot and pound away at yours or your Dracosans from behind a building somewhere.

Really, the big weakness I can see in that list is lack of anti-tank. The Vanquishers give you two ranged meltas that ignore AC, but that's not too huge, and otherwise you just rely on tossing out Demolisher fire at everything. My flare-shielded Macrocarid with a nice repairing Archmagos and IWND can just drive up with impunity, microwave a neat hole in your aegis line with Irrad Engines and throw out some Myrmidons that will start doing a respectable job against almost anything.

You can anti-infantry exceedingly well, you can deal with Light Tanks well thanks to outflanking Vanquishers, but it just seems that armoured lists will roll through you with Tank Shock since your AT is very focussed. Lose your Vanquishers and Medusae you've got serious holes, given how much of a bullet magnet the Malcadors will be they will probably be having a little trouble/
May I recommend some Tempest Grenade servitors? Discount Hoplites with other options too, they'll deal with those armour pushes.

It could be even stongher with some change,so as it is it is not hard to handle,but remember,the final solution to everything is to slap a ulator(it cost even less in money LoL)

Against that list,will be a boring game,it dont have a true artillery barrages,so your medusa-phosphorex and bombard are safe and should clean a lot of bodies from the table.

Malcador is not a problem,handle it like a dracosan ->vultarax is the way.

3 krios venator can help,but those tanks behind aegis have 4+ Cover save against pulsar shoots.

Malcador infernus int a big deal too,he have to keep it near,if you have some castellax/vorax he have to stay away from you(r) (smash) and far from table sides,also he can just be raped by vultarax or krios venator like dracosan/malcador.

leman russes can be a pain,but if you keep some castellax in mid map you can handle em.

Personally I'd cut the quad-mortars because you have 120 infantry providing ample dakka already and replace them with Laser Destroyers if possible. BChargers don't really help much vs. Reductor, aside from the mandatory 6 Thallax we're not bringing beepboops and the front armour of everything else worth shooting them at is too tough. Vanquishers aren't too helpful, Macrocarid is sitting pretty well even with Armourbane and the SA and RA of arty is only 10, you could probably do better with more versatile guns on them.

They take rather worse to tides of S10 AP2 pie plates, massive instagibbing Hellstorms and Haywire cripples the only vehicle they can hide from the billion las shots tearing their elite vet and termie lists apart. If you want to use them 'as is' without buying extra, decide if you want to use them as Tacs or Vets. If you haven't downloaded the rules already, do so and read those entries.
Tacs are basically all bolters with unit upgrades to taste.
Vets you can give them a couple special/heavy weapons if you want, I don't recall if you get much flexibilty in the box for that.
You should also decide on your Rite of War before building anything, as for a legal army you need your 2 Troops tax (which for most people is two squads of Tacs), unless you pic a Rite that makes other units count as Troops.

Just because if I was your opponent, that would be a massive Ursarax buffet since we can soak the relatively small number of S5/S6 hits all day and ID you with S10 Fists. Same with Automata and some of the bigger daemons, although if there are no Mech players in your meta it wouldn't probably help much aside from decking irritating Praetors and 2W termies.

Ah, OK then. Just make sure that if you see Ursarax, get your Sentinels and probably the Dread on that flank, or they'll happily punch through a squad or two of regular Custodian Guard. Dear god those Dreads are cheap and smashy.

Mechanicum actually gets quite the inflated reputation from all lists and even most of the rules for newer stuff being designed to mulch AV14 and T4 3+ as quickly as humanly possible. Custodes especially, I've noticed, aside from Firepikes and Dreads. Making that swap would certainly lock down Mech assault units, which already were pretty much the only ones you'd be scared of. Just watch out for tarpits and artillery, and you'll do fine. Droplites, if they have them, will pretty much guarantee that ONE of your vehicles will die turn 2, so deploy with backups to stop a joint Ursarax/Hoplite drop shutting down an entire flank.

Haywire their tanks, pound their infantry with Medusae and Occularis then when they get close absorb the charges with tarpit Adsecs. Leapfrog over the combat with Ursarax and smash the engaged Custodes with S10 power fists in the rear. It's not just strictly the tanks, although they are probably the most powerful units Custodes have. Haywire with droplites works best but also vultarax, krios venators combo'ed with cyber occulari to lower cover saves (no one wants to waste shots on them?) and my personal favourite the archmagos ordinator with armourbane photon thruster (with cyber occulari to remove some jink).
The squads are easy to deal with mechanicum, peltast shooting, grav myrmidons and Reductor artillery make short work of them.

Honestly they're not bad, but not feeling as imposing as they should be; perhaps seeing them side by side with other Terminators will look better, but I also feel their paintjob is too dark and that bright gold would make them look more intense.

I do like the Firepikes and Talons, however; I would just like some more mobility and inbuilt grandeur on the rest of the models. I have decent hopes for them though. Shit I still plan to buy 10 of them plus 2 Orion Gunships.

Waffle Custode here, the only things I find disappointing about them are all minor details, like that they don't have those leather strips hanging from their pauldrons. The firepikes could have been, ya know, actual pikes that shot fire, or something, but oh well. And those plumes look like they're in a funny spot but I can't really be certain until we see more pictures.

And yeah, they actually look kinda huge, now that you mention the base size, and the helmetless head does seem relatively small.

Every time I see your Custodes it makes me wish I started the army with super detailed bases instead of the cityfight look; I love the contrast of mine, but damn do I want to do marble and stone sometimes. Maybe when I do a squad or two with Rython coloring.

As for the Terminators, the leather trappings are part of my frustration with the lack of grandeur look; I may add them myself later on with plasticard. But yeah, I really hope these guys are fucking massive, would look so cool.

Also now we just need purple plumes Custodanon and we have the trifecta.

Thank you. I honestly love how the bases came out on them. I've used gravel, sand, and flock... but wanted to try something new for this new army, and the dirty and damaged stone plaza that the green stuff ended up creating is just perfect in my eyes. Ironically the final design came from my failed attempts to get the stronework perfectly smooth, cause the damn greenstuff kept sticking to my fingers and tools. And I wasn't thinking when I pressed it against the smooth plastic of the package, in an attempt to flatten it all out, and of course it stuck fast and I had to scrape it off, and in the end that's why the stone generally has a more 'textured' look than the other bases.

I painted the whole thing (old paint names incoming) Dheneb Stone, with a wash of Gryphonne Sepia over top, but that wasn't dark enough for my liking so I added Devlan Mud, which made things perfect for the effect I was aiming for.. And if you should ever try what I did with the green stuff, best practise is to use it to stick the legs to the base (and I still put a dab of superglue on the feet), so you can press just enough to get a flat surface for it to bond with.
