I used to think that land destruction had no place in casual EDH... But now I realize I had a warped view of casual EDH. I used to think that cards like Sheoldred, Jitte, Ulamog, a few God enchantment creatures, etc all had no place in casual EDH.
Nowadays I realize that these things are fine for casual EDH, but with that realization I've also realized that Land Destruction should be fine as well. The truth is that if someone is playing mono red they not only can't take care of powerful enchantments but they have very few ways to take out creatures with over 7 toughness or indestructible creatures. So are you going to tell me that they should either A) get very lucky or B) willingly lose the game because they have no options?
No, neither of those choices are acceptable. The truth is that land destruction is the most powerful tool in Red's arsenal, not using it puts mono red players at a supreme disadvantage. If you feel like you're allowed to use supremely strong creatures "because they can be removed" or supremely strong enchantments "because they can be removed" then I feel that I'm allowed to use supremely strong land destruction "because you can run mana rocks".
And just as you say "Well you should run more removal!" I say "Well you should run more mana rocks!" and then you can say "Well I do but they aren't in my hand right now!" and I reply WITH THE EXACT SAME SENTIMENT towards removal.
So at the end of the day I say this; If the point of casual edh is still to win, which it obviously is if you're running $20 powerful praetors, then I'm going to do what I can to win, which is to keep you from being able to play those praetors.

Of that it comes to everyone wanting the same damn decks out of the CMD17 decks, then try holding a tournament with them. If you have only four people you want to play, then each one buys only one of them. You can decide who buys what deck by drawing names, rolling dice, and so forth. Then have a prize for the winner. If I were you, I'd pick one of my own cards as prize support. Probably a $20 card. If you're not so generous, then perhaps everyone chips in $5 - $10. I wouldn't make it single elimination though if this is the case. Perhaps 1v1 against everyone. Then losers bracket and winners bracket. The two winners play then the two losers play. Angels have a good shot, especially since the duel deck makes Merfolk and Goblins unlikely, and the C2014 deck rules out Elves.

If you're looking at the most popular and/or iconic tribes, and you rule out Elves, Merfolk, and Goblins, Angels vault up the list pretty quickly. Plus, it's good to have another flying tribe to weigh against Dragons.

My personal guess is Dragons, Angels, Wizards, and Elementals.

1) That is horribly inaccurate. STi engines need tuning for literally every single upgrade. They're bottom end shits out around 450-500 awhp. The only affordable awd cars that can hold upwards of 800 awhp is the Evo and the SHO. That's it. And even then they need built bottom ends. Like I said, a Terminator bottom end can withstand upwards of 1200 rwhp.

2) AWHP is only as good as it's computer system. It's not inherently superior to RWD cars. This is why STi's still get beat by RX7's. Well, the difference in weight helps too. But, that isn't as much as a factor as most would think.

I'm a combo player. My group got really pissy at infinite comboes and so they "banned" them in the sense that they asked me not to do infi comboes anymore.

Then I won with Niv-Mizzet + curiosity, Mono Blue Lab Maniac + Enter the Infinite/Leveler. And Avacyn + Worldslayer. And they still got mad.

Well you can go creatures or spells so just run Eternal Witness and/or Regrowth.

Palinchron. Literally go infinite with Riku, Palinchron, 7 lands, and 2 extra mana.

>copy with Riku
>copy untaps 7, 7 floating

And then you untap for 14 more, and do it all again. Costs 7+2+4 to do, nets you 7+7 for 1 net mana and a 'chron copy. If you have an ETB trigger you get that an infinite number of times.

You can't exactly get unblockable, but Temur Battlerage gives trample and double strike.
Also new Odric and Concerted Effort give double strike and evasion if you have a creature with that ability.

We'll Arcane Adaptation seems like a more playable version of Conspiracy. The pirate legend seems a bit weak, but I kinda like that he can be mono-red ramp

Is it? I'm thinking about running it in grixis marchesa, pseudo dork seems good. (Could be wrong though, this costing 3 instead of 2 might kill it).

Other than that it creating artifact tokens is good. Daretti decks probably will like it at the very least.
