I wish my idea of 'standard stuff' was jobs like that. For us, 'standard stuff' is getting hired to clear out some property for a new owner that has a ghoul squatter colony living in it, without using copious incendiary explosive devices to just burn them out wholesale. No, property damage MUST be kept to a minimum while body could MUST be at maximum; no survivors, just don't make holes too large to spackle over.

Does something like this could happen in Shadowrun?

""Recently acquired in a Fort Zancudo yard sale, all our APCs come direct from active service. Equipped with a turret-mounted cannon and portholes for small arms fire, they're able to carry up to four heavily armed mercenaries pretty much anywhere across land or water. And if you squint it's quite good-looking, in a merciless-occupation-of-your-homeland kind of way.""

So a Military decides to hold a yard sale selling several Milspec APCs to a military retailer. Runners could buy it for nuyen and some processing fees.
>>
>>53800184
Militaries in shadowrun don't usually do yard sales, but there's no one saying that a fixer can't have a friend that sells old mil-spec items of interest. Basically, you have to know people. Use your contacts!
>>
>>53800184
Sure
Just give the runners some military Fake SIN (or enough money for greasing palms) and off you go
>>
>>53800184
Yes, but expect shady guys in black suits to buy all that stuff in bulk for their megacorp, outfit them with proprietary tech from their own subsidiaries, then sell them to various national powers at substantial markup, while Joe Snuffy gets to get outbid at every turn because no runner has fatter pockets than a Johnson from a megacorp. That's if you don't keep the sale on the super downlow, of course.
>>
>>53800222
I think that megacorps either produce their own vehicles (which means they don't bid) or buy them in large quantities with long term contracts for support and supply
And even then, why should the J get such a big contingent?
>>
>>53800207

They sold it to a military resaler who then sells it to the following: private security companies, paramilitary forces, rebel militias, hot housewife, radical insurgents, unhinged lottery winners, over-zealous neighborhood watch groups, or just a military hobbyists with a worrying amount of disposable income.
>>
>>53800128
This run is actually a consequence of another run we did, where we were hired to assassinate the head of the Seattle housing department.
Basically, what happened was this:
>We get hired to kill this guy
>Previously my character had seen him at a humanis bar on a run that involved a cat, some mafia loans, and one orc having a really bad day
>Doing a bit of digging he's a pretty huge scumbag, so we don't feel too bad
>We get contacted by a third party about the job
>Go to meet them in Big D memorial park
>Turns out it's fucking Brakhaven who our GM plays as the biggest chad douchebag possible
>He wants us to, after we kill our mark, get his commlink to him before anyone else gets it
>Extra money, sure
>Already make plans to copy over data from the commlink (I've got data liberator and curiosity killed the cat)
>As we leave we end up getting pulled over by an unmarked police car
>Turns out it's not an unmarked police car
>It's UCAS FBI
>They also want the commlink
>Long story short we end up killing our mark after stealing his commlink in the chaos of a halloweener attack on the space needle
>Copy a bunch of data from the commlink, give it to the FBI, give the commlink to Brakhaven
>Also release all the humanis/corruption/bad shit I found on the matrix, which has proof of extreme embezzlement on Brakhaven's part from government and Brakhaven Industry funds for illegal humanis policlub support
>Due to a fuckup on my part, Brakhaven finds me after all this and while I'm getting treated by a street doc he busts in with a few of his badass humanis buddies
>Starts ranting and raving about random shit
>Sends a message from my commlink to the rest of the team telling them to get over here, thankfully our pixie rigger got enough hits to notice it was fishy
>Street sam gets his NEET hacker friend to hack cameras and doors and such to prepare for the rescue attempt
>hacker does it, but only for a "favor"
cont.
>>
>>53800293
>Brakhaven is busy ranting about trogs, pixies, and niggers while interrogating us for information we don't have
>UCAS FBI ends up smashing the door down and saving our asses before the rest of the team can attempt rescue
>Brakhaven gets SnS'd to oblivion
>As a show of good faith, the FBI doesn't send us to the slammer, since we've been useful
>They even paid for our medical expenses, how nice
>Now there's an election going to be held soon, and everyone wants everyone else out of the running
>We've got like 6 smaller job offers and one big one to do over the course of a week
>One of them to steal the ring of a woman running for governor and replace it with a fake
>Others include stealing an armband from a bodyguard of the commie governor, protect some guys from the seattle independence party as they put up fliers, get one of the people running a perfect cup of coffee just before the debate, another is delivering a message face to face just before the debate, etc
>Our hacker friend texts the street sam and calls in his favor
>Turns out the woman whose ring we're going to be stealing has an orc wife and the NEET 4chan hacker wants thicc orc pics
>with timestamp
And that's how our strictly 2D only weaboo infiltrator/streetsam was forced to drug to lesbians before stripping them and taking photos while a bunch of dogs barked at him.
>>
>>53800281
To keep it out of others' hands, and it's gear they can 'upgrade' for cheap and sell off to groups they wouldn't normally associate with and not have the stuff tied directly to them that could jeopardize other arrangements. Megacorps don't think like normals, they're purely selfish and opportunistic, and as long as someone else has something then it means there's something they don't have, and that's an intolerable state of affairs.

Hell, they could go even shadier and slap some other mega's markings all over the stuff, fuck it all up deliberately, and sell it on the cheap to groups just to wreck the rep of the other mega and get their own product into circulation instead as a 'more reliable alternative'. That's worth the kind of bank to send with a Johnson or two.

Kek. That's some hilarious state of affairs.

And fuck Halloweeners. Past group had a run-in with them outside an Applebee's they'd turned into a shitty hangout/clubhouse, and after some words and them requesting in earnest all the credsticks and weapons we have on our persons, ended up ghosting six of them in the parking lot and chasing the rest off.

Next thing we know we've got a To-Kill order with the entire Halloweener chapter of Greater Sea-Tac and a bounty on all our heads and all of a sudden shit's gone from 'go meet the contact at x location, hand him this package, take what he gives you, and bring back to Mr. Johnson without tampering with it' to 'welcome to Purge Night: Seattle 2075. starring all of you'.

Spent the next eight hours having to footrace Halloweeners and opportunity bounty hunters because they blew up our fucking ride with an RPG and we didn't dare pause to boost a big-enough ride for our fat-ass mongo troll, and we weren't irresponsible enough to pile into public transportation and cause a minor holocaust if we got jumped. Oh, and considering the long trail of bodies left in our wake because we can't fucking do subtle for shit apparently, we also got to play hide-and-seek with Knight Errant the whole damn way.

So yeah, fuck Halloweeners.

>That's some hilarious state of affairs
I didn't even get into the run where we infiltrated a humanis bar to hack the commlink of the guy who was performing there to get information on how to manipulate him into helping us break into a mansion where he was a guard during his day job. We found out he was a cat lover and our mage/infiltrator instantly wanted to threaten the cat when the rest of us wanted to get him on our side by clearing his debt.
The infiltrator mage went to go steal the cat but found out the mafia was already stealing the cat while the rest of us went to go take out a loan at a mafia front while I hacked the systems and removed his debt from their records (along with a far more high profile debt, to mask the disappearance of the smaller debt).
I swear to god we argued for almost an hour over that fucking cat which the mage/infiltrator ended up stealing from the mafia guys who were stealing it from the guard guy before returning it to gain his trust because she just saved his cat by stealing it from the guys who stole it before she could steal it. Which got her a "thanks I guess? What the fuck is happening"
And then we cleared his debt too which actually got him to help us out.
This was all fucking legwork.
>>
>>53800774
I'd have shot that cat on general principle if it was the cause of an hour-long argument over its importance. More power to you for being patient with that shit.

Pastebin has quite a number of suggested, Shadowrun related books, movies and music.

Me, personally, I like to prepare missions while listning to a playlist comprising of Trevor Something, They Might Be Giants and Aquabats. You may also want to grab and read through 2D storytime, if that's your jam. I'm not an overly visual kind of person, so I can't help with movies and stuff.

Also, reading every /srg/ from start to finish helps. Whenever I need an oddball NPC in my game, I steal an idea from other anons.
>>
>>53800842
Frankly, it was more amusing than annoying.
>>
>>53800667
There's a movie list in the pastebin that's pretty good. Other than that, I like the TV series Leverage and Burn Notice. They're both on Netflix and have a hefty amount of content. Good place to steal run ideas.

Hey folks, would you mind reminding me what the 'core' books for 5e are? I've got a street-level mage to build for a game and haven't touched 5 in a long while
>>
What cyberware is considered essential for a decker? And in 5E they still need a deck, right? Or is decking from a commlink the right way now?
>>
>>53803474
Everyone the GM allows
>>53803528
Unless you are AR Adept Decker you need Datajack for Hot SIm VR and to connect your brain to your deck
>decking from a commlink
motherfucker this is 5e not 4e you are talking about
read your fucking books
>>
>>53803528
datajack
cyberears with antennae x3

And yes, you need a Deck or modded Commlink (though that one is bigger cheese than cheddar)
>>
How good is "revenge" as a character plotline?
Like, if I want to play a spurned broad hunting down the ex that screwed her, would most GMs be able to run with that?
>>
>>53803620
I was talking more in terms of Arsenal, Augmentation, Runner's Companion, etc etc my man.
>>
>>53803528

...I think there was also that loophole where every datajack installed reduced your noise, so you may want to grab more than one.

There is also cerebral booster, but it might be out of your financial reach, since decks are, like, super expensive.

Decking with commlinks is possible, although it tends to end poorly for deckers involved.
>>
>>53803528
If you're clever, you get a 'deck AND a commlink, so that if one gets bricked you're not completely worthless.
>>
>>53803474

I think it was base, Run Faster, Run & Gun, and the dedicated splat for your character, so Street Grimoire for mages. Chrome Flesh is pretty cool too.

If any of them stick around for the entirety of the two-year curriculum, he gives his graduates a Sony Emperor commlink he's personally modded to accept a module as a sort of starter kit for aspiring deckers, which he hopes whets their appetites enough to go seek out employment gainful enough to keep them out of the usual street life and advance themselves, though he's jaded enough to know the majority will most likely sell them off for creds.

Our decker scriptkids on the matrix while hunting for exotic cookies (the baked kind not the data kind).

The street samurai day drinks.

The gun adept... Actually I have no clue what that guy does for fun aside from cannibalism.

The katana adept lezzes in Japanese when she isn't being a salty bitch.

The rigger functions as our Fixer and takes us to our jobs. He is retired and probably watches reruns of Matlock or something.

The mage is a freeloader a engages in recreational choking with the katana adept in her spare time.
>>
What kind of runs would fit a group of:
>An EDGElord face
>A vory affilitated Sammy
>A druid mage and
>a decker
?
Because I honestly have no idea

Doesn't need to be concrete runs, just general types (Extermination, Distraction, Spywork, etc.)
>>
>>53806492
Anything really, what I do is make things that focus on their skills but also have things they can't do be important to success so they have to hire on another runner they don't know, adding some trust issues to the mix.
>>
>>53806537
>so they have to hire on another runner
see, this is probably me fucking up, but that decker? That's a NPC
And I don't really want to play two NPCs on the team.

So what kind of runs are doable for such a group?
A group of two sammies, an adept and a decker can't do all possible run types, just like two infiltrators, a face and a rigger can't. Their Fixer wouldn't give them runs of which he knows they are not suited for.

So I want to know: If you were the fixer, had this team and a lot of possible runs: What runs would you say that this team should be able to do?
>>
>>53805440
The excentric gnome decker continues adding more elaborate layers to his plan to kidnap and replace Lofwyr. He bought a golden dragon custom ballistic mask, which I guess is progress.

The spacer ork street sam expands his collection of real-book literature, philosophy, and history. He can speed read and has photographic memory, and his academic skills are between 12-20. One day he hopes to return to space, maybe live on the moon.

The mage frolics naked with conjured spirits while yelling that no one understands him or his 'art'. Said art usually takes the form of kleptomaniac night time excursions where he steals anything shiny to fill his nest, surrounded by his chittering minions. Mentor spirit is magpie.

The face stays the hell away and spends his time perfecting his 'theme'. Think Johnny Spinrad, but grapple guns in each limb and the floor is lava.

Question for a new runner, what does the "capacity" for cyber ware mean? Does it work kinda like extra essence? Or does it mean physical space? How many upgrades can be jammed into an arm before you lose too much essence?
>>
>>53807364
Ware installed into a cyberlimb's capacity does not cost Essence, just slot space.

Install Chummer and play around.
>>
>>53807364
Capacity is how much room the cyberware part has for additional upgrades.
>>
>>53807364
Capacity is how much stuff you can put into a cyberlimb or eyes, or ears, or how much of that capacity a thing takes up, depending on what you're looking at. (The tables are pretty good at not fucking this up.)

Now, in older editions (3e, possibly 2e), cyberlimbs and so on had a small amount of Essence worth of stuff you could stuff in there without taking up extra essence

But it was pretty small, and once you went over you were paying essence like usual.

capacity is a measure for how much stuff you can fit in there
Your cyberlimbs have a capacity. Cyberware has an essence and capacity cost. If you implant it in your normal body you lose essence, implant it in a cyberlimb and it takes capacity. Once the capacity is full you can't add anything.
Adding stuff to your meat body allows you to potentially get more at a higher essence cost.
Putting it in cyber limits you to the capacity, but the only essence you lose is for the limb.
>>
Does it cost essence to get valuable metals carved into your skull?
It doesn't actually provide any mechanical difference from a normal skull, but you will look SICK when you become a skeleton.

If you're a mage, there's legit arguments (and augments) to take one point of essence or less worth of 'ware.

Just make it a yerz out mod or the like, and then take 'ware that you'd want to fill out the rest of that point.
>>
>>53807458
I think the general idea is that if it doesn't give you an in-game advantage, it's completely free.

Filling out that last bit of missing essence because you want to have a full point gone?

Probably some kind of Earthdawn call back I'm totally blanking on?

Really, given the cost of the most comparable bits of cosmetic 'ware I can think of for some big skull work it'd probably be between .1 and .2 essence. Or it could be more like a breast implant (normal kind) or basic cosmetic surgery and the range is instead .05 to .1 essence.

In any case, try and think of good social benefits and penalties flashing your new bling can bring.

Immunity to normal Weapons, a spirit power
against non-magical attacks the spirit gets hardened Armor equal to twice the Force
since the orichalcum is now a part of your Soul and by nature magical it may give you the ability to attack spirits in unarmed combat without the hardened Armor

but holy crap, can you imagine the cost of that?
Bone Lacing(Titanium) costs 30000nY
And Orichalcum is a SHITLOAD more valuable
>>
>>53808018

>>
>>53807958
Yeah, but then it's just a casemod, and even for a partial, you'd better hope that the GM doesn't say that it raises availability.

Even the partial (in all ways better than an obvious cyberskull except for being bulked) doesn't want an availability bump.

>>53807815
Immunity to Normal Weapons. It's a Spirit Power that gives them extra armour.

If the GM chose it out of ignorance, then telling Street Level's faults (favors awakened/emerged, shits on mundanes) might lead him to reconsider
If the GM chose it while knowing it, then the game is lost anyway. Try to make the best of it
>>
>>53807620
>Though, if I was really, REALLY rich, I'd get orichalcum instead of gold.

While if you were smart, as well as rich enough to piss money away, you'd get awakened minerals.

>Corinthian Bronze (orichalcum and elichium): Also called Corinthian brass, this is a highly polished material with the same basic properties of orichalcum. Active foci created with Corinthian bronze would roll their Force (minimum 2 dice) to determine the Force of the spell refl ected back, inactive foci and the raw alloy would only roll 2 dice to determine the Force of the spell reflected.

>Abyssitine naturally reduces the ambient mana levels by 2. Spirits in physical contact with abyssitine have their Force temporarily reduced by 1 while in contact. Spells that include abyssitine directly as part of the area of effect also have their Force reduced by 1 through absorption by the mineral.

>Cerrukite is the mineral version of an astral barrier like awakened ivy. Beings in physical contact with cerrukite are prevented from astrally projecting or returning to the astral plane or their home plane after manifesting. They must first break contact with the cerrukite before dematerializing or attempting to astrally project.

Or you could try to get your hands on the combination of the Abyssitine and Cerrokite, which does everything they do, Psilosen.

What does the face do other than talk? What kind of 'ware/combat style does the samurai have? What spells are in the druid's repertoire? Is the decker just a voice on the other end of a commlink handwaving through tech issues, or is he a physical presence with other skills?

If it's all one direction (Face is also a good gunner, the mage has lots of combat spells) then it lends itself to certain approaches.

So I'm going to be GMing a game of SR fo some new-ish players. One has a relatively firm grasp of the rules and fluff, another has an OK understanding of just the rules, and the third person has no fucking clue what they are doing. Experienced player is going to be playing a Street Sam of some sort, possibly with some magic, middle player is going to be the face and wheelman, and the newbie is going as a rigger/hacker.

Since the group isn't too experienced with the fluff, they are playing as up-and-comming runners who are still pretty green. The face is a former salesman turned cabbie after his business failed (he ran a small electronics shop with his brother in a mall) who has tuned to running for cash because he's a greedy bastard and made the necessary contacts driving shady dudes around. The Sam is a former security guard of some sort, and the Hacker is literally a Matrix troll who got cut off by mommy and daddy and decided to put his skills to use in the shadows.

Now I've been able to tweak a few SRMs to use as some simple runs for them, but most o the modules are a little too high powered I think and don't take well to being trimmed down. Anyone got any advice or ideas for a group of newbie runners?

The reason you can see a car engine with thermographic vision is that a car engine gets very hot, and transfers that heat to the metal around the engine (eg, the hood), so the hood heats up and can be perceived via thermographic vision. You're not seeing the engine, you're seeing the heat from the engine which heated up the metal around the engine.
Same reason you can see someone in thermographic if they are wearing clothes, their body heat warms their clothes because that are in close contact.
If someone isn't touching a window, their body heat isn't warming the pane at all, so someone standing behind a window would not be visible in thermographic vision.

ABORT
Do NOT have a new player make a rigger or hacker, and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT let a new player play a mix of both.
It will slow the game to a crawl unless you both have a very good understanding of the matrix rules, which a new player will not.

During this he lost an arm, which was replaced by generous Ares sponsoring which left him contractually obligated to work for their promotional campaigns as a cyberware model.
After all that he went to Seattle for a while to take some time off.

He's not your average cyborg merc or streetsam.
He's pretty friendly and not very heavy on cyber.
He's got the arm, eyes, smartlink and a tactical computer, so nothing really major.
He probably enjoys combat too much to be considered a normal person, but who can in the 6th world, really?
In any case, he's just as likely to take a job for the action as he is for the money.

He's proficient with pretty much all weapons by favours scoped rifles and light machine guns.

What? No it doesn't.

Have ambidextrous and carry two pistols.
Shoot both on semi-auto once per turn, like you would a single pistol.
Now you have twice the ammo.

You can also have different ammo in either, giving you an edge over single pistol users who only have one ammo type.
Ex-ex for corp sec and gel for civilians? Heck yeah!
>>
>>53824446
go full reaper/ dad from boondock saints and never reload.
>>
>>53824446
you can make one attack per initiative pass

FIRE SEMI-AUTO, SINGLE-SHOT,
BURST FIRE OR FULL-AUTO
A character may fire a readied firearm in Semi-Auto-
matic, Single-Shot, Burst-Fire, or Fully-Auto mode via
a Simple Action (see Firearms, p. 424) but may not
take any other attack actions in the same Action Phase.
If a character has one weapon in each hand, he may
fire once with each weapon by adding a Multiple At-
tacks Free Action (see Multiple Attacks, p. 96)

And for that it says
MULTIPLE ATTACKS
A character may use a Free Action to attack multiple tar-
gets in a single action (see Multiple Attacks, p. 196) by
splitting their dice pool. This action must be combined
with a Fire Weapon Action, Throw Weapon Action, Melee
Attack Action, Reckless Spellcasting, or Cast Spell Action.

You can't attack one target with both weapons

>>53824435
because CGL (and I think FASA too) hate dual wielding
>>
>>53824549
Except you can declare a multiple attack and Burst Fire with both weapons if you split your dicepools.

Mechanically it can be very benificial if you can do Full Auto 6 shots. Your split dicepools are compensated by the reduced defense for the opponent.

Dual weilding only functions at 24 and above dice I've found.
>>
>>53824579
>Dual weilding only functions at 24 and above dice

24 dice is what a prime runner has for his principal abilility thought. It's really not hard to get that, especially since cyberarms can be used to jack up agi over the general rest.

what?
As far as I can see, if you aren't an adept then the only way to get to 24 dice is to be an elf, get a Hand of God up to 10 AGI, get your skill up to 12 and then get a smartlink
You may of course specialize, get Exceptional Attribute (AGI), Aptitude (Weapon skill of choice), Reflex recorder, etc.
But I can't imagine a game going long enough to reach Skill 12
And getting all of that is going to mean you specialize for that and not much else
>>
>>53824638

>>53824579
That's not how Multiple Attacks works; it's a modifier on the attack action that you're using. SS/SA state that if you use Multiple Attacks, you can fire another weapon once at another target.

If you use BF/FA, you can split the fire between multiple targets. It doesn't let you use another gun.
>>
>>53824549

>>53824920
DOUBLE-TAP
Complex Action
A rapid pair of well-aimed shots from a Semi-Automatic- capable weapon fired in such a way to increase damage instead of making it harder to avoid. Tracking Progressive Recoil becomes very important with this Action. The attack gains +1DV and costs the firer two rounds of ammunition. There is no penalty to defensive rolls from this shot.
>>
>>53824909
"Burst Fire/Two Weapons Recoil
Twin-Gun Teddy is back in action, this time with two machine
pistols, a Ceska Black Skorpion with 1 point of recoil compensation
and a Steyr TMP with 2 points of recoil compensation.
That’s 3 points added to the 1 from his Strength and the 1
free point for a total of 5.
In the first round, he has two Burst Fire attacks going. That’s
6 bullets, making the recoil penalty –1. Teddy takes 1 die from his
dice pool before splitting it between the two weapons.
In the second round he gets more aggressive—Long Bursts
with each gun. That’s 12 bullets this round, so the recoil penalty
is now 13. Teddy has to take 13 dice from his pool. He’d better
have a big dice pool if he wants to roll even a single die on this
attack. And he’d better start thinking about doing something besides
shooting next round."

p.177 the example given.

That seems like he's using two weapons to fire BF and the LBF

>How'd your last run go, /srg/?

my game is on indefinite hiatus

But sure.

Our last run was a milk run to make some extra scratch at the end of the day.

The party
- Greyhawk: a grouchy, foul mouthed, egotistical, skinny-fat, baby faced, 20 something with dyed grey hair and a trench coat. Technomancer pretending to be a hacker and trying to figure out his life and what he wanted to do with it.

- Rama: physical adept who has to struggle to control his mouth and dresses like he stepped out of some ninja action manga. Part Indian (subcontinent) and part Japanese. Wears a respirator to deal with his crippling pollution allergies and conceals it with a dramatic scarf.

- Brick: A massively built seven foot tall Ork in medium grey sweatpants and t-shirt with an armored jacket and red knit cap. Former member of a 2-star gang in Philadelphia. Wheelman and knuckle cruncher.

The team had been formed for another job earlier that day. They were all new to Denver and to eachother.

Tiger was an Orange and Black Maine Coon. The poster listed a last known spotting and a place to deliver the cat if found along with a reward.

After returning the now windshieldless and bullet hole ridden unmarked grey van the Johnson of our first job had had us use, the party reached Brick's camper truck which had finally been released from Denver's customs impound.

Greyhawk proceeded to shut down, retrieve and re-program the 5 tracking bugs that Lonestar security had planted on the camper before releasing it. With the party now set up with its own wheels Rama announced "Let's go find some pussy" and we headed out to Tiger's last spotted location.

On the way there Grewyhawk did some digging and figured out that the neighborhood the group was heading toward was the home turf of a bunch of go-gangers. He also, at Brick's suggestion, repurposed one of the tracking bugs into a high performance pet tracker that could be mounted on Tiger's collar and linked to the owner's comlink once we retrieved and returned the cat, in hopes of getting a bonus.

Well warned about the dangers of the neighborhood the camper truck was parked deep in an alley to keep it out of sight and disguised as a trashed out wreck. (thank you chameleon coat)

Greyhawk stayed in the truck and began to canvas the matrix and claw his way into various security and surveillance cameras and sensors to try to spot the cat.

Rama set out to ninja around and search for clues and signs of the Tiger's presence.

Brick walked up the street and spent 5 Nuyen on a sack of cat food to set out bait.

Rama had found some traces of cat fur of the right length and color when Greyhawk called in. He had spotted what seemed like a cat of roughly the right dimensions and pattern on the roof of a nearby two story boarding house on a grainey security camera feed.

While Brick started crossing the street heading for the building's fire escape, Rama proceeded to ninja up to the roof in two leaps.

As soon as Rama landed, there was good news and bad news.

The Good news was, he'd found Tiger. The bad news was he'd spooked Tiger bad enough for the cat to leap at his face.

Rama's scarf saved his face from becoming a bloody mess but his respirator got pushed down his face causing him to suffer an allergy attack while he grappled with the panicking cat.

Right as Brick made it up to the roof, the door to the roof access opened and a shot rang out, zipping past Rama's general direction and a trio of twitchy Go-Ganger's started to emerge from the door to kill the trespassers.

You don't need 24. 20 is enough. And it's not hard to get. I'm playing a disgustingly unoptimized adept and I have that.
>>
>>53824958
Eh, what a weird change.
It was so much simpler in older editions.

And not being able to fire two pistols at the same target makes no sense either.

Just more needless rules baggage.

They're all called corpsec, omae. Nations gave the job of policing to corporations.Lone Star and Knight Errant are just the most prominent.
Any kind of law enforcement is technically competent and motivated by quotas and bottom lines.

Brick, wired reflexes kicking in, turned and Drove a Kick into the chest of one of the Go-Gangers, sending the man, and the other go-ganger he fell back on, tumbling down the stairs to land in a pile of broken necks and skull fractures.
He then slammed the roof access door and tossed his jacket to Rama to help wrap and secure the cat, as he turned to face Mr. Trigger Happy.

Tiger managed to squirm around in Rama's grip and peel out on one of the ninja's arms, leaving it covered in bloody scratches as he got loose.

While the fight got going Greyhawk discovered the Go-Ganger's had nothing on them worth hacking and so went to work canvasing traffic feeds to keep a watch for the approach of additional trouble and erasing audio and video records of the incident.

Mr. Trigger Happy opened fire with another terrible shot, missing Rama completely and grazing one of Tiger's back legs, drawing blood.

Brick tried to get Mr. Trigger Happy into an arm lock while yelling "Stop shooting you fuck were just getting our fucking cat!".

Mr. Trigger Happy wasn’t having any of it though and managed to squirrel his way out of Brick's clutches.

Rama, still recovering from his allergy attack managed to steel himself enough to calm down a terrified and now hurt and and bleeding cat long enough to scoop him up and wrap him in Brick’s jacket while Brick booted Mr. Trigger Happy in the chest, sending him crashing through the roof access door and flying down the first flight of stairs to land unconscious on the bodies of his fallen comrades.

With Tiger secured, Rama leapt the two stories down to the sidewalk, landing with style, and sprinted all the way to Brick’s camper. Brick climbed down the fire escape, snagged up the sack of cat food he had left on the sidewalk, ran to the camper, tossing the food into the back before climbing into the driver’s seat and pulling out onto the road bound for the dropoff.

Opening up the jacket, Rama found that while bloody, Tiger’s wound seemed to be mostly superficial. He shared this news with the group and tried of offer Tiger some food, which the cat ate.

By the time the Party had pulled up to the drop off site Tiger’s wound, while still obvious, had scabbed over. The location was an apartment building. With Greyhawk telling the others to let him do the talking and Brick telling Greyhawk to remember not to cuss in front of the Johnson, the party walked up to the building.

Having called their catch in using the contact information on the poster, they were met at the front door of the Lobby. The man in the doorway was stoic, plainly clothed, had a face prematurely aged by hard work of the sort where you couldn’t tell if he was in his early 20’s or late 30’s. He carried himself in the manner of a man with a lot on his shoulders.

"Did anyone in here order a cat?" Rama spouted, with Tiger resting in his arms, to Greyhawks annoyance.

The man was guarded and terse but not rude as he negotiated with Greyhawk, who told the man that Tiger had been injured in a fight with a feral cat before they had found him. The man seemed to buy this explanation, or didn’t think it worth challenging the statement, and even payed a bonus for the tracking device.

When Rama put Tiger down the man watched Tiger mosey into the building and a measure of relief seemed to wash over him. He thanked the three strangers before saying “if you have any more questions, go ask someone else” closing the door, and going back to whatever his life had him doing.

Brick asked Rama and Greyhawk if they were going to take the bus home or if they were fine with waiting for Brick to clean the blood out of the inside of his Jacket, in which case he would drive them. Greyhawk retorted that Brick should drive them to their homes before worrying about laundry.

"Man Blood SETS, I'm not waiting around on that." Was Brick’s reply.

With an ambivalent "Yeah whatever" Rama headed for the bus stop. Now 750 Nuyen richer, Brick decided to pay Greyhawk back the 800 he owed the hacker for when he had bribed a police officer on Brick’s behalf during their first mission earlier in the day. Greyhawk then walked after Rama while Brick climbed into his camper to take care of his laundry.

And that's the most recent run we've completed.

It sucks if you try to use it in a front on firefight, using the rules but squeezing out the highest level of situational bonuses, before your character is actually 30 dice kinds of good with one combat skill.

Surprise rounds == no defence roll == good for dual wielding.

>>53824579
>Mechanically it can be very benificial if you can do Full Auto 6 shots.
While Multiple Attacks says you can make a number of attacks up to half your combat skill, firearm attacks (page 165-167) say differently.

>(Full Auto Simple) If a character has one weapon in each hand, he may fire once with each weapon by adding a Multiple Attacks Free Action

>(Full Auto Complex) If a character has one weapon in each hand, he may fire once with each weapon by adding a Multiple Attacks Free Action

>Yeah, after reading every mention of multple attack in there it seems that CGL has contradicted itself .
It's not that they've contradicted themselves, it's that there are two limits on how many attacks you can make - the specific attack you want to use, and your skill/2.

Firearm attacks frequent have a multiple attack limit that's lower than your expected skill/2. Melee attacks do not.

Reading this Shadowrun rule book, it just seems like a lot of headache. Why not just use D20 and not 5 billion dice?
>>
>>53826662
Fuck, they're trying to snipe my research!
>>
>>53826705
Because D20 and a billion modifiers is way more of a pain.
Honestly, maybe it's because I started with SR and not PF, but when I tried the latter I was baffled at how math-intensive and completely unintuitive it was.
>>
>>53826705
Why the fuck would you go back to an individual d20 system when you have a system where your dice pool size is based on your skill?
That's way more fucking variable and satisfying, and it avoids the "strongest man in the world only has a 50% advantage over weakest man in the world" problem most d20 systems have.
>>
>>53826705
Because a d20 has a pretty shit bell-curve of probability.
>>
>>53825792
Nope.
>>
>>53826705
Why would you ever want to use d20?

but yes, the book is a headache to read.

>Why would you ever want to use d20?
>but yes, the book is a headache to read.

Maybe my years out of school have made me retarded, but reading this just makes my eyes glaze over.

Then thinking about players grabbing a mountain of dice to roll and trying to pick numbers out of it. I had mongos having trouble with d20+modifiers. Can't imagine how complicated they'll make this.

You know you'll have to teach them it as well. Not as many people play SR5 and 5e is the new hot maymay. Thought about just using SR for material and playing Pathfinder. Then I could use Interface Zero 2.0 when it comes out. Along with Starfinder. Then it'd at least be a little easier to move them into it if they have played 3.5 or they were playing 5e, then I'd teach 3.5 and transition that way. Idk, desu.

D20+modifiers IS more of a challenge than "just roll all these dice".
There are plenty of dice rollers online you can use instead.

>Pathfinder instead
Fuck no. If you must use a different system, run the Blades in the Dark hack instead.

>D20+modifiers IS more of a challenge than "just roll all these dice".

So you don't have to reference anything and add anything? Seems alright.
>>
>>53827343
Sometimes you roll a few more or less dice, but that's about it as far as modifiers go.
>>
>>53827362
Do you ever roll anything, but d6?
>>
>>53827243
Shadowrun's system really isn't hard though. Attribute + Skill (+ Modifiers) with a maximum of one of your character limits, all of which are readily available on your sheet. Just because it's not D20 doesn't mean it's difficult. It took my group maybe half a session to get used to it.
I'll agree with you on one thing though: CGL needs to draw and quarter their sourcebook editor.

>>53827343
Modifiers are a thing, but for the most part they just add or remove from the number of dice you roll. Some are just straight score modifiers though, like using Leadership to Rally your team members adds a flat +1 to their initiative for every 2 hits (5s or 6s) in your dice roll.

>>53827382
Shadowrun is played entirely with D6s.
>>
>>53827382
D6s as far as the eye can see.

How has leadership been effectively used in your game?

Hmmm. Kinda just liked adding the d6 or taking them away.

>CGL needs to draw and quarter their sourcebook editor.

Yeah. I'd probably just been better off looking up a how-to youtube video and learned that way.
>>
>>53827517
Like I said though, it's only for a few modifiers. Since extra Initiative dice have an upper limit (up to 5D6) from cyberware, spells, abilities, etc., Rally makes more since to be a flat increase to the actual score. A good example of a dice removal modifier is for Nerdrage, a quality out of the decker sourcebook Data Trails.

>>
>>53827407
CGL doesn't need to draw and quarter their sourcebook editor, they need to HIRE AND PAY A SOURCEBOOK EDITOR.

As it stands, anyone working for CGL has to set up an actual, real-life heist to be paid.
>>
>>53827243
Shadowrun is like playing the imperial guard. You roll a lot of dices and count 5s and 6s.
