Trying to make Ravnica's guilds work in the three-set structure was a challenge. Making it work in a large-small structure is probably much, much worse.

Trying to make it work in two consecutive large blocks, though? I could see them welcoming that, since Ravnica is popular enough that there is zero risk to it being one of the multi-set worlds we visit next time it takes center stage, while more offbeat things like an instant/sorcery focused world that have potential but are more of a risk would be a one-set visit.

They'll remove it at some point, it's 100% inevitable, but they're scared to do so yet so they'll delay it until the game is almost dead. Which will take a few more years even if standard continues to be arse and other formats impossible to get into.

Reminder: One thing WotC likes to not remind people of is that reserved list has been changed in the past and cards have been removed from it. Demonic Tutor used to be a reserved list card and it was removed from the list along with all other non-rares. The reason cited for this was "overwhelming support" from the players, which they got from a poll. If they ran a poll today that said "Would you like to see us reprint the real duals? Y/N", I think they'd once again see the "overwhelming support" that okayed the move last time.

Megamorph is one of the laziest, thrown-in, bland, and unattractive mechanics introduced.

The name is stupid, it's not really new, it's restricted to 1 (one) +1/+1 counter and nothing else, it gave WotC a sense of justification to overprice otherwise balanced morph cards, and it was added in a block that already had a variety of better ways to get +1/+1 counters.

It would have been better to just state "when ~ is turned face up, put a +1/+1 counter on it." on the few cards they put it on, but instead they tied it to a keyword that has a 0% reason to exist and put it on a platter as if it's new and exciting when all it does is restrict design space and tarnish a previously decent mechanic.

We don't really need the delineation between creature types like that just for flavor when there could be mechanical benefits to reap instead. Printing Pirates as Rogues would be easy to sell the flavor of, while giving them synergy with existing Rogues and Rogue support cards.

It helps keep things tighter and promotes links between old and new cards, making Tribal decks more viable and less parasitic.
