While this is true, a lot of the time you engage at such close quarters anyway then a shotty is still good. And if it isn't, in a granular enough game with enough ammo types there'll be at least one or two broken as fuck options you can use with a shotgun, because no developer ever succeeds in keeping content balanced once it goes above a certain quantity.

For melee weapons i tend to go for things with either the shocking quality or concussive quality to deprive the enemy of reactions.

As far as solid projectile weapons i tend to go for light and accurate rounds like the 9mm AP and .357 sig, which the 1911 is in. I choose the 1911 because i like single action. I also like big revolvers as most of my characters are detectives, i kinda want a revolver so big that it push back the enemy like breaking glass, of course this is entirely fictional, but i think all handcannons in 40k should have felling 2 to represent the shear damage it does to toughness characters.

In deathwatch ive been using a boltgun with fire selector and and the different ammofoods under the sun and damn that thing does work. Lately i did a called shot action headshot on some dudes in a aircraft hanger control room with metal storm ammo i headshot him and cleaned the entire room with just two hits.

None. I play exclusively fantasy RPGs, and guns and medieval fantasy have never mixed. Guns make knights and all sorts of armor obsolete, so as far as I'm concerned they may was well not exist (or exist only in the hands of munchkin faggots).

Revolving firearms of all sorts suffered from hot gas leakage escaping from the space between the revolving mechanism and the barrel, which in the worst case, would ignite all the rounds simultaneously. A one handed pistol meant this shrapnel was free to fly off, a two handed rifle meant one of your arms got filled with hot metal.

>>53785832

Heavy trigger pull, comparatively heavy action -vs- other repeating rifles, comparatively low performance with the heavy rifle rounds of the day.

I've always wanted a schnellfeuer with a rate reducer and folding vertical foregrip mounted to a railed projection from the frame mounted below the recoiling barrel.

this has half the equation visible. Not sure about the second.

Bascially a select fire pistol that can be used like a grip+foregrip SMG, or have it's holster stock popped on and be used as a foregrip+grip+stock select fire pistol caliber carbine.

>First time around (that we get to see): The Gunslinger (1st edition). Roland lost the Horn of Deschain fleeing the battle that broke Mid-World. Astrological signs are mentioned. The order of Gunslingers is approximately 600 years old.
>Second time around: The Gunslinger (2003 edition). No astrological signs, now it's the totems of the Beams.
>Third time around: Events at the end of The Dark Tower (book VII). Roland now has the Horn of Deschain; Oy is now a dog instead of a bumbler.
>?????? time around: the movie. Roland is now a black guy. The order of Gunslingers is "thousands of generations" old. Jake and Odetta are not drawn into Mid-World.

Oh, and then the IRL answer. The Kel-Tec PMR-30. Actually my usual concealed carry sidearm, and like everything from Kel-Tec, it's a fucking confusing little fucker that was truly made by insane gun-wizards. Do I need a 30-round magnum? No. Do I have a 30-round magnum? Yes. When I hit the range with a friend, it always gets gawkers when they hear you firing that fucker. And then after six rounds, you just keep at it. And after 12 rounds, you just keep it at. And after 24, at least one person has come by just to see what the fuck is doing that.

I've shot one, full auto in .45. I fired a 30rd mag in 4-6 pulls.

I liked it, fired very Very fast. I've also fired full auto M4m/M16 burst, 249/240/48s.

It didn't "kick" it was more like a high powered hose. Still climbed but because it shot so fast it's not meant to "mag dump".

Although my experience in full auto SMGs is limited, I liked it. 8.5/10 would throw shit in fan with.

It's a shame Metal Storm never got off the ground. A caseless gun with no moving parts (except the bullets) and any rate of fire desired is the perfect near-future weapon. The company that bought them out makes similar caseless shotguns and grenade launchers, but I don't now if they're still active beyond their website.

The battle rifle is a really hard one to beat for looks and overall utility. Its made to hit hard at a distance but while not ideal it can mix it up with a bayonet and butt stroke.

Carbines might be handier and assault rifles superseded both. But you can't argue with a semi auto that can put a hole in a cement wall at 1000m and still hit someone on the other side.

Yeah metal storm sounds like some sort of future weapon, on paper.

Off from Paper the system has severe flaws, compared to "old fashion" guns.

-The whole thing is heavy as fuck, as one "magazine" is also an entire single use barrel. This leads to the whole thing beign a logistic nightmare.

-reloading takes much more time than changing a belt or a magazine.

-the high firing speed also causes quite some heat in the barrel, which can lead to bullets firing which should stay put. Sure you can choose to fire at a lower spm, but then you would have a heavy techno MG.

I think the german army wants to use metal storm systems, but more as an anti-vehicle trap and less like a turret.

Look into your heart, if you want a cool space gun you take a gyrojet weapon system.
Almost recoil less, quiet and you get to shoot someone with kinetic rockets.
>>
>>53805357

>I think the german army wants to use metal storm systems, but more as an anti-vehicle trap and less like a turret.

Most of the recent stuff I've heard about metal storm is about using it for goalkeeper systems. Where making sure it REALLY works a few times is more important than logistics.

So imaginary guns?
>>
>>53796275
You're...uh...wrong. First, guns that have the basic straight back recoil pulse will pivot when met with resistance like a hand or shoulder. The energy goes somewhere, and that is up usually. The point of the recoil system is to use the bolt's weight being recoiled to counteract some of that pivoting and change the recoil to be more in the center of the gun rather than along the top half. The force of the bolt recoiling is also much higher than the force of the spring resetting it, so no that does not add additional upward movement.
>>
>>53798708
Model is irrelevant. After-market is key. Top competitive shooters have used modified m&p 15 sporters. Glock and ar-15 have massive after-market boutique offerings. A custom ar-15 in some wildcat caliber could out-shoot a psg1 any day.

Just how stupidly impractical they are, the fact they weren't an I Win button on the battlefields of the time. And the designs are interesting, a gun designed by people who haven't decided how a gun should look yet.

Maybe it's my German and Yugo ancestry, maybe it's because Jin-Roh was awesome. Either way I love the MG 42 and want to fire one someday.

I don't think Idris Elba looks like any of those, sorry but you're not making a point.
