Help me /tg/, me and my friends just cant wrap out heads around charging rules.

Ok, so, marines disembark from a rhino and rhino drives forward so that only one marine can see one model of unit it's charging.
Only that one model is allowed to overwatch, right? right.

Ok but what if that one model actually manages to kill a marine in overwatch?
Is the charging player allowed to remove one of the marines the unit cant see or does he have to remove the one marine he can see?

If he removes the one marine that can see the unit he's charging, so that the charging unit can no longer see it's target, is it still allowed to charge?

Still pay for flexibility, but they are actually decent anti-tank now (still mediocre anti-personnel for the price).

Given that you might be facing anything from an infantry horde to a wall of heavy vehicles and mixed lists might be actually quite rare (and some of them will start with everything in transports) I think the ability to switch is well worth it.

I'd even say taking missile launchers on absolutely everything that can have them is a viable tactic; pick a key enemy unit, fire all your missiles at it until it is no longer a threat, repeat. Their range helps with that too. With the new morale rules, concentrating as much fire as possible onto a single squad can be very efficient; you will end up removing twice as many models as you kill if you do it to the right target.

Snipers of all sorts are likely to be key for dealing with buffed hordes. Forget the question of whether they'll kill their points in characters, it's about enabling the rest of your army to chew through the conscripts/boyz/gaunts they were protecting.

So, is there a way to actually make a stompa earn it's points?

It's a fairly tough target to stop, even with an army's worth of heavy weapons aimed at it, so it seems you are fairly likely to get anything inside where you want it.

Obvious payload would be a warboss and burna boyz. Stompa moves up to enemy lines, infantry get out. Move, advance and charge. Can shoot while advancing and auto-hit. 19 burnas do 19-57 S 4 hits with shooting and around 38 S 4 AP-2 melee hits. That should kill basically anything.

Problem is, even if you manage to do this two or three times and the stompa also annihilates units at the same rate, you've only killed about five units, which is probably only half the points you put into this combination. That's assuming the enemy don't have some method of dealing with a single super-heavy.

I just don't see any realistic scenario where you can possibly reach enough stuff to win a game with so much of your points invested in one not-very-fast unit.

Scouts with Heavy Flamers seems to be the new meta for Sentinels. I too magnetized all my weapon options for them, I'm just a little sad that I don't think I'll be really using them this edition. They were underrated last edition for a few reasons, but those reasons are gone now.

I can't justify how many points they are for armored and heavy weapons, but maybe I'll try them out and be surprised or something. Probably not. If they had at least 2 attacks base, I think the chainsaw would be nice, but 1 attack base is very mediocre.

I've been using armored sentinals with lascannons. Hide behind ruin for cool 2+ save, toss lascannon shots at primary targets.
For only hitting 50% of the time, They are tough enough to sprinkle a few in. Also helps fill in those FA slots for the bigger detachment.

Outside of that, plasma cannons do well. Heavy flamer chainsaw for memes.

Devilgants are really the only thing you should burrow with a trygon. Since you'll fail most of the charges you make from deployment range or get shot to death walking to charging range the devourers put out an immense amount of fire. Around 80 S4 shots rerolling 1's to wound.

To be honest what I'd be doing is entirely reliant on what army I face. A gunline might make raveners worth taking but against a deepstriking GK list it'd be pretty useless. I should really take more of a TAC list as suggested before that can actually hold objectives.

In this list I'd slingshot the stealers, burrow with my trygon along with the devilgants and have the hormagaunts as my second hive commander target sending them into combat that turn. The list doesn't have much in regards to anti-tank aside from hive guard but I think mathematically I'd rather have almost two units of hive guard than an exocrine. Not positive though.

None of us really know. Some bat reps and other people have said Scout Sentinels with Heavy Flamers are good. Moving up a free 9 inches followed by another 9, roasting a squad and tying something up in combat to prevent them from shooting a turn.

Another anon here has had good success with an Armored Sentinel with a Lascannon in cover. Hard to dislodge and has potential to hit targets hard.

One thing for sure is that the -1BS hits them pretty hard considering they only have 1 gun. I probably won't use them, and if I do, I will probably use Scout Sentinels as a distraction and distraction melee to slow down the enemy so I can deliver my Bullgryns properly.

Assuming you bring the broodlord:
Genestealers cost 12 points each for 4 attacks with either a 2+ rerollable hit with no AP, or a 2+ hit AP1 hit with rending on a 6+ (so 5 up with the broodlord). You can take both weapons on the genestealer without increasing your points cost, since one costs 0 points. You get to choose when you fight.
