Hey /tg/, which is the superior anime roleplaying game: OVA or Big Eyes, Small Mouth?
If not either of them, then which one could you recommend?
'Anime' RPG is a really bad descriptor, since it's basically just a generic system as Anime spans an enormous array of styles and genres.
What are you looking for? Valor is an anime-ish point buy superheroic system that is pretty damn cool, Kamigakari is a JTTRPG with a lot of anime stuff involved.

BESM is a generic system that markets itself as an "anime" system because weebs are willing to pay a premium for anything with a loli on the cover.

This anon made a good post.

How soon did you need one? I'm currently making one, but its going to take a bit longer. Multi-genre starting with the standard shounen super-power.

Gurps. Seriously. If you're gonna go blandly generic, just go with something that has everything built already.
otherwise stuff like >>53764434 said, figure out what you want from it, and get a system like that.
>>53764407
None of those.
Play DoubleCross, Kamigakari, MAID, Meikyuu Kingdom, or a legit JRPG.

OVA. BESM is a mess, mechanically speaking- OVA does the same thing, but it's far more simple. It's like Pathfinder vs. Maid.

They're basically the same thing. OVA is d20 and more compact, BESM is 3d6 and a bit more grognard-y, carries some GURPS in it's blood.
OVA literally ripped out the list of special powers from BESM, so if you want the OG BESM 3e is a good game. If you want something that runs a bit faster, try OVA. and If you want the same list of powers, AGAIN, try M&M.

Are there different editions of OVA? If so which one should I grab?
>>53768465
As far as I know, there's only one- The latest. Grab that.
>>53768573
Thankee.
>>53768573
Also are there any sourcebooks worth grabbing?
>>53768247
OVA is not d20, anon. OVA is pools of d6s and adding up matches. There's a d20 version of it, btu it's just a conversion for the people who can't play anything other than DnD

>Meikyuu Kingdom
That's a board game. Fuck off.

I don't know of any sourcebooks. You're just going to have to watch anime
