I'm playing at their stupid "reserving rights to make a Jump" system. Basically, if you make a call that you're going to do a Jump, no one else is allowed to do it until you make it. Something like that.

On a more thread-topic note, I'm finding myself at a block in this thing. World-building's mostly done but I have no idea what direction to take from here.

Either I go full adventure mode and make the focus of the CYOA on adventuring the waters, or I make it a "settle down and live comfortably" sort of thing. Problem is, I kind of want to make it accommodate both ideas, but balancing that is a little weird. How do you balance being able to purchase diving gear and vehicles versus just picking a waifu to settle down with? I'm thinking of allowing you to pick a job or career but the gear portion is a little difficult to determine, mechanics-wise. Some people might just be content with fishing while others might want to be a marine archeologist.

Would anyone be alright if I straight up go Subnautica on this and keep to a more adventure-focused CYOA or should I spend more time thinking about it?

I have some solutions in mind but they're wonky at best. Again, how do you balance being able to own a cool submarine over just picking a fishing rod to catch some fish?

One crazy idea I had would be having an overarching mechanic of you calculating your income versus your rent, which, depending on your rent, you'd go for a more rewarding job. And harder jobs let you purchase more advanced things. The problem with this route is that I kind of wanted to avoid a resource system for this CYOA, since it was meant to sort of just be a small thing.

Maybe I could work off of that idea and simplify it, but right now, I can't really think of anything.

I think I'm going to simplify it so that you can pick from an array of jobs from low, medium and high income without saying their numbers. Then with that, you can get gear/equipment in proportion to your income.

They're mostly living off of remnants of really advanced human technology, far beyond what we have today. One anon mentioned being able to use kelp as an energy source, so in terms of energy generation, they use a combination of wind, tidal and, well, that. The major towns all have several generators of science magic. Not quite nuclear energy (they don't have the technical know-how) but most of the advanced technology they've salvaged is also self-sustaining and easy to use.

Food-wise, they mostly fish. Fish is aplenty, but they also have cultured meat. There are also vertical greenhouses where they grow vegetables and the like, which is likely also all assisted by more human science magic they've discovered.

Trade is anything. Mostly food and provisions, but they also trade technology and share it with other countries. What you see on this map is the extend of the immediate setting's "country" which I'm calling Ardinia right now. Most of this is shallow waters, but it's all surrounded by "The Black Deep", which makes it hard to settle on. There are other "countries" a good distance away though, but I won't really mention them in the CYOA.

So, the kemomini (the cat people) are much simpler folk than hyu-mans. Their capability of intelligence is about at level with us, but not all of them study at university level (there's an entire town dedicated to schools, though). They also rarely ever have conflict between each other; at most, some might reach a disagreement over something and the dedicated guard/sheriff will have to butt in and tell everyone to calm down.

Most of them live active lives, but beyond their obligation to keep society together, they don't really worry about day-to-day hardships. They treat everyone as a friend, basically. One town is half a spa and half a themepark where they like to hang out.

It's a pretty amusing system, but it's worked for them, so whatever. I think they have a thing against turning gen CYOAs into jumps though, dunno whether that's changed now or not.

So I exist again. I'm remaking my Twins CYOA because it was pretty short and not as good as it could have been. So here's the first page that kinda works on its own somewhat. Don't worry, there's a whole lot of other content that will go along with it. I'm only iffy on certain parts of the CYOA requiring points or not, since it would go against its comfy nature to force people to make compromises. I want the power to control the history of other people in such a way that all of reality retroactively changes to fit the new narrative I've created while also maintaining itself as close to the original reality to avoid the runaway butterfly effect that would ensue if such a thing were to occur.

This power could be inherent to my existence but I'd prefer it if it were tied to a specific object like a notepad or a journal that when written inside of causes the change to occur to the designated person. Everything specified in the journal is changed including specific conditions like "nobody will remember the previous state of existence" or "the afflicted person will notice the changes" and other such specific clauses added for extra fun.

Jumps are basically point based CYOAs. They're saying they want to take a CYOA of yours and turn it into a CYOA that matches their system. If the person is experienced this can be represented rather well, if the person isn't, sometimes there are complications. I think posting jump cyoas is frowned upon here, but even with a points based system there's a lot you can do.

This section in particular shows a really deep understanding of yourself and emphasizes the logic behind your thought process in a way that makes me really respect you and believe that you could really survive and thrive in the bizarre setting I threw together because you come across as a person with a lot of ability to adapt and grow.
I like to think Luci would see all that and feel as endeared to you as I do right now and would probably try to help convince you that she wouldn't let that happen. She'd want to try to catch a situationary where she's coddling you before it got out of hand try to give you a firm, but gentle push to step up and start being who she knows you can.

If it is "anything" and only one wish, I would wish for the kaleidoscope power from the first worm cyoa.

Its almost counts as cheating because of how overpowered that power is, but honestly I would simply use that power to journey trough all the fictional worlds created by mankind, every fantastic and majestic world dreamed by the heart of mankind would be at my fingertips, and I would get to experience all of it forever, you could even travel back in time and watch the birth of humanity, and all of our great battles and events.

I dont think there is a better power than the kaleidoscope.

It's funny you say I'd be good at adapting though. I think in general for long term situations that might be true, and I usually seem to adapt well when forced to in a tense moment, but I'm pretty easily thrown off guard and reduced to panicked yelling about how over my head I am about things. My best friend often laughs about this when we're playing Dark Souls together.

There's no strict rule against OC no matter what anyone tells you. Even then, other CYOAs are considered 'established' enough not to be OC, as silly as it is. The only thing stopping regular CYOAs from getting jumpchain versions is author permission, so if you're Imaginos, there's nothing to stop you if you want to make one.

Final questions are:
Despite wanting to take a fairly isolationist stance with Earth, can I still visit my family for birthdays and holidays, and would my wife be okay coming with me? How would they all react to the idea of meeting my family? Getting along with my younger siblings is a must. My sister's really determined to befriend whoever my future wife is.

Can I bring people to Zodiac? My best friend isn't as prone to escapism as I am, but I totally want to try and hook him up with some magic powers and explore Zodiac together at one point. Plus I'm totally gonna try and use my position as King to try and hook him up with someone. Not in a bribed kind of way, just that I now have a lot more acquaintances that are single women, and I'm only marrying one of them.

Has there ever been a high quality Star Wars cyoa? Why does it feel like I've never come across something like that?
I'm actually rather surprised at the fact that they're all lacking an insane amount of depth for the insane amount of EU stuff there is. None highlighting different Jedi/Sith schools, hell, none utilizing the litany of 'crystals' you can use in a light saber. None utilizing all the minor characters for apprentices.

And that's what made it so much worse, Brock did nothing but show hoe much he cared for venom while venom did nothing but betray and abandon him at every time it even remotely had a chance of getting back with peter. So venom is an un-loyal partner
and more of a parasite than symbiote and Brock selling it was the best thing to happen.

I'm fairly certain that only happened 1 time, and that was very early in Venom's career, like their second appearance.
Unless you count the Paul Jenkins story where Venom suddenly doesn't care about Brock at all and is written horribly out of character along with a ton of other things in that story that don't line up with canon.
