Currently working on my campaign for this.

There's a half buried skull of a giant, dragon-like monster in the middle of a spooooky desert in my setting. It's one of the very few landmarks in the desert and is a sort of halfway point checkpoint for those crossing the desert. I know how hard it is trying to impress upon the party what scale is, because they've all heard, "it was big! really big! no bigger than that! keep going!" before. So I just showed them this picture. That got the point across.

Unfortunately the skull is a random detail added when map making and not actually plot relevant. I should work on that.

This one comes with its own story. I found them yesterday, don't know where they came from originally.

"Throttles forwards, afterburners on, and the thrust kicked him back in his seat as the needles climbed. The counter ticked down to zero and beeped, and he pulled back on the stick, keeping the throttles pushed forwards, every muscle protesting against the forces.
Another beep, and he pressed the button. The antique aircraft shuddered with the release, and he eased the throttles back. He saw the decades-old missile streak off ahead of him, heading up out of the atmosphere.
He relaxed. The satellite the missile was locked onto was an ECM rig, and had been alternately jamming his crew's links with the outside world, and overpowering them with german scat pornography.

The corps had found their hideout, and now there was no mistaking their presence. But for a glorious few days, everyone could talk again. And he'd just cost the corps billions.

An insistent beeping sounded behind him, and he realised he'd just cost himself a similar amount, expended a literally priceless missile, and had just missed his window for being able to steer a priceless antique back down to earth. He'd now have to wait until his ballistic arc brought him down to where there was enough air for the controls to actually work. And his engines had just flamed out. Fighter jets weren't known for their ability to glide.
He shrugged, and reached under his seat for the manual. With any luck, he could figure out how to restart the engines before he actually needed to."

God half of this is just "le epik fantasy background"...

that ship is only as wide as earth orbit at most, it the ring names don't seem to refer to orbital distance, seeing as the mars ring is closer in than the earth one. I picture this sort of ship as a sort of light hugging forcefield-ramjet sort of ship full of posthuman crew as pictured relaxing on the orbiting bubbles and presumably in the ornithopter. There could be pretty huge stellar engines and stuff like constellations of shkadov thrusters pushing massive multi-stellar extragalactic ships.

Conan the Barbarian predates LotR. In fact, pulp fantasy from the twenties and thirties has had plenty of influence on the Fantasy genre. LotR was influential, but it wasn't the beginning of the genre.

Really, I'd say it dates back to the adventure stories of the late 19th century, like Arthur Conan Doyle's the Lost World. There were 'fairy stories' before that, but I think the themes and tone of the adventure stories are closer to what we normally see in Fantasy. When the last unexplored parts of the map started to get filled in and there were no more corners of our world that you could, for example, hide T-Rex and a giant gorilla in, authors started looking for new unknown territory: like pre-history. Relying as they were on myths and legends about the past, and with no need to make their stories things that could at least semi-plausibly happen in some remote corner of the world, authors like Howard started blending the old adventure story style with elements of mythology, thereby creating the modern Fantasy genre.

Imagine being in a campaign where you start off in some remote village a long ways away from that city, but you can still see the black tower jutting out against the horizon. Over the course of the campaign, you join a caravan and gradually make your way closer to the massive city at its foot. When you arrive, the city-dwellers, distrustful of migrant desert-folk by nature, brush off your attempts to inquire as to the nature and purpose of the tower.

None of your errands in the city directly involve the tower, but its prominence as the rough center of the financial district ensures that you'll be seeing it a lot, and from up close. Strangely, though thousands of people daily traverse the courtyard surrounding the tower while going about their business, you never see anyone enter or leave it. In fact, it has no apparent doors, windows, or portals of any kind that would admit entrance to it.

Wheel of Time, one of the big holy shit moments.

The Dragon reborn (prophesied savior and destroyer of the world) has been captured through subterfuge by an order of all female magic users (male magic users turn mad since the last cataclysm, hence why they feel the need to control the male messiah). They are transporting him hold captive inside a chest to their citadel, but are on the way ambushed by a renegade tribe of basically Fremen invaders. They are being slowly overwhelmed by the horde. Suddenly the Asha'man teleport in and start wrecking shit to free the lord Dragon. He had previously started this male magic user order as counterpart to the witches, despite the madness taint. At this time readers hadn't seen the endeavor pay of for a longer time. They are also lead by the previous false Messiah, whose loyalty was in doubt. He gives the line "Asha'man, kill!" and Tribesmen just explode in fire and earth shrapnel, as the Asha'man are trained exclusively as battlemages for the coming confrontation with the dark lord.

It's absolutely more than possible and allowed by the laws of physics. What I think it would come down to is are we as a species patient enough for such a project to reach completion before we get bored? Even if we could quickly chew up asteroids and moons and eventually planets and rapidly 3D print out whatever structures we need it would probably take centuries. I think even near-immortals would get bored after a few centuries of sitting around while billions of automated factories construct AU sized megastructures.
