On a side note about torture, I remember reading once in a white dwarf about an eldar autarch that liked to torture humans for his amusement. Orks also do this. I don't see why the Necrons wouldn't do this type of evil things. As for the Tau I don't know their stance on torture, but I remember reading about them killing human civilians for fun or something like that, also a dark story about how they fed the Kroots, but I don't fully remember it. Original Deathleaper was a strain of Lictors, not one organism but a whole bunch of them. It got the name and reputation as an urban legend amongst the populace of Medusa V as some unknown monster that lurked in alleys and underhives and would leap out of the shadows and kill people and then disappear. In the fluff TRTs size was never confirmed. It was actually explicitly stated to have been reported with conflicted sizes, ranging from Ravener to Trygon sized, and may have even been multiple different creatures confused as one.

The model was clearly not to scale, further exacerbating this issue, since it was about the same size as a Ravener model yet originally had the Monstrous Creature unit type and could swallow whole models that were much too large for it to do if it was supposed to be to scale.

In 5th edition when the Trygon/Mawloc kit came out, and OOE got rules again but TRT did not, it was supposed to be implied that TRT was subsumed into the Trygon profile, and the Mawlocs ability was even sort of a callback to its swallow whole attack.

Then I guess GW corporate said to release the metal miniature again for sales reasons and they restored its profile to the rules and rehashed the fluff again despite it not making sense anymore.

It's sort of the same case we have with the Broodlord and Patriarch where one of these things was supposed to be retired and the other a replacement "callback" to it, a spiritual successor, but then GW revived the original thing and now they both confusingly exist side by side even though this was never supposed to be the case.

Right but that's as the fluff exists now after it's had to be cobbled back together. During the 4th edition Codex release the Broodlord was the reimagining of the Patriarch, which was no longer supposed to exist, much in the same way that Genestealer Cults no longer ride in limos but now have Goliath Trucks and a new industrial miner aesthetic.

Biomorphs are the Tyranid equivalent of wargear, parasites and symbionts and organs and modifications to organisms, while bioforms is the term used for different "classes" of Tyranids, as in what we call different units in crunch terms. My GF definitely does this. She's a big science/biology nerd and her favorite animal is the great white shark, so I guess that's a big chunk of it there.

It might also help they're pretty simple to pick up and play in regards to fluff. There's some nuances of course, but saying "They're a giant hivemind that wants to eat everything and they got living guns" encapsulates most of it. It was probably because following the Chapterhouse debacle GW has had a strict policy of not publishing rules before they have the actual models. For the Skitarii/Admech books they already had to release a lot of the models considerably before the codex came out and give them rules in WD, and if they'd done it as a single book, there would be an even longer time without a codex being released and it probably would've messed up their release shceduaele since they could be doing pretty much nothing but Admech until they got all the new models and the book out. So they just split it into two smaller waves.

They've fixed it in 8th edition by combining the existing models into a single Admech army, and the new release method they use in AoS and presumably in 40k now as well should alleviate such problems in the future.

Imperial Guard, Inquisition and Tyranids. I also have random models that I enjoy like Celestine and Sisters of Silence.

I grew up on Alien and Aliens being big family movies. We watched them and others like them all the time. When I saw that early Cadian models looked like Hicks and crew, I really wanted to have them. Tyranids of course I loved because they reminded me of the queen and other xenomorphs. Scuttling cute and scary hordes with giant queens leading the way. Loved it.

Inquisition is probably the first thing that really pushed me to want to play because of the art in the Witch Hunter book. I also love the whole Inquisitor deal and their retinue. I too want to have near unlimited authority and do space detective adventures with friends and servants.
