So I have through 7th and plan on into 8th run infantry heavy Tau, because Fire Warriors a best. I was thinking 1 fire warrior squad with Carbines to every 2 with Rifles. Thoughts?
>>
>>53713463
I could see it working- Carbines used to be pretty clearly inferior to Rifles (pinning wasn't worth much, the 3" longer 2-shot range wasn't enough to balance out losing 12" of max range), but now that Assault units can Advance and still shoot, Carbine-FW can act as more mobile troops.
>>
>>53713439
How long did you wait for a new thread to post that?
>>
>>53713439
Eh, too forced
>>
>>53711734

We need a regiment from a very "gang-rule" hive world, where your commander stands in full fur-coat wearing a purple feather pimp hat using rules such as this!
>>
>>53713492
That's my thinking as well. It was so damn difficult to actually advance on a position in 7th, Carbine warriors seem to actually be worth taking now
>>
What faction seems to have the most effective Deep Strike capability in 8e? And does anyone know offhand which factions can do it?
>>
>>53713287

They have the required keywords, but they lack the act of faith special rule.

Read as written, this means Celestine and the imagifiers can grant them an act of faith, but they can't benefit from the army wide one. It's hard to tell if that's intentional or just badly worded.

Wait, so apparently in melee Halberds are now equal to Staves or something?
>>
>>53713566
The vast majority of DS options let you set aside units to later drop into the field greater than 9" away from nearest enemy. Are you looking for the faction with the greatest amount of DS, or ones with extra DS abilities?

Tervigon can allow other 'nids to DS with it.

Have you played against Tau yet?

What were they using?

Who won?
>>
>>53713566
IG has the cheapest deep striking units as troops, iirc.
>>
Which army has the most possible combinations of units and upgrades?

Tau?
>>
Are Grey Knights looking viable this edition, or are they sitting on the shelf again?
>>
>>53713588
Both, I guess? I'm looking for something that you can play like old Raven Guard where (at least from what i've read, I didn't play then) you're holding a fuckton in reserve then plop them down at once to deliver high alpha. I was thinking 50% units with Deep Strike paired with high alpha/long range units. Ideally the units on the table at the start would be sturdy enough to survive the opponent's first turn if you go second, then you'd unload everything on your turn.
>>
>>53713771
Tau Crisis Suits are probably the single most customizable unit right now, but 8e really bumped up their price. Tyranids have a fair amount of options?
>>
>>53713579
There's also zero difference between a power maul and a power lance.
>>
>>53713439
Just like last time little bobby. Gotta make it seem ambiguious and not intended as an insult to anyone but the noiselet. The chad marine player shouldn't realize he's triggering the autism of the manlet and his infirior models.
>>
>>53713802
You probably want some flavor of assault-oriented SM, a lot have jetpack deployment that gives them DS.

Of possible interest is that Summoning in 8e is now a really strange version of deep-strike, where you pay for the units you summon, but don't need to pick them until you summon, and the summoning itself isn't a psychic power.
>>
>>53713646
>buying directly from GW
>>
>>53713777
they raaaaape everything
>>
>>53713764
I was leaning towards IG for this:
>>53713802
I was thinking something like Scions+Assassins+artillery. Maybe manticores and a couple HWS mortars bubblewrapped in conscripts.
>>
>>53713802
You just need a pair of transports to survive a turn
>>
>>53713777
they look alright, dreadknight got curbed and they're about the same speed. not sure if that puts them above or just at daemons level

i know a few who play grey knights nearby so it's time to get some revenge for my daemons
>>
>>53713566
IMO, GK for best alpha strike, nids for highest chance of turn one DS charge, and IG for point efficiency.

>>
>>53713579
No. Force staves are +2S -1AP, Halberds are +1S -2AP. Nemesis staves in particular confer a 5+ invuln in melee or add +1 to an existing invuln. So yes, take storm shields and warding staves on your GK librarians for 2+ invuln in melee.

1850 of Thousand Sons

Daemon Prince of Tzeench 189
Sorcerer with jump pack, axe and combi-bolter 132

2x10 Rubrics with Soulreaper Canon 490
2x10 Tzaangors 140
Five Rubrics with Warpflamers 185
Rhino with combi-bolters and havoc launcher 85

SoT termies with missile rack and soulreaper 266

Maulerfiend 161
Predator with las turret and sponsons 202

DP is the Warlord, and he will be hanging out with two Rubric squads and the Predator giving them his aura and using Prescience to buff them up. Tzaangors will be meatshields on the middle on the board, while Maulerfiends and Rhino with Warpflame Rubrics are taking a flank each. Sorcerer and termies are in reserve, either reacting to enemy's deepstrikes or attacking opportune targets, with sorc using warpfate to ensure that termies will get their charge.

Thoughts? Should i swap puppy or pred out for a Heldrake?
>>
>>53713894
I like that idea too. Cheap HWS and Sentinels to cover the 50% on the table rule, then everything else deepstrikes.

Sanguinor isn't Sanguinius, it's the ghost or survivor of one of Sanguinius's original Sanguinary Guard bodyguards who drew lots to become Sangunius's representative, the two last lots had one killed and the other had the mask seared onto his face so none of the others would know which SG survived and he would truly become Sanguinius's representative by throwing away his own identity

That was the first original Sanguinor

Well, it lacks newer rules, but a direct port would still have it a complete monster. Dropping the strength of incoming shooting by 3/2/1 over T1/2/3 remains cool as shit, and it's probably packing about 50 wounds.

Just not fun to paint, bro. The fist yellow is done mostly with transparent yellow layers do fixing goofs of any color on the yellow is a pain and hard to get smooth. It just ends up being more stressful than painting armor that relies more on a nice, darker base color IMO.

I would cut a Vanguard squad and pick up another Crawler and another Dragoon, since that's perfect 100 and Crawlers work rather well in groups, plus you can always use another stabby bastard bot. Otherwise, it's an Admech list. They are generally pretty standard due to lack of options until IA14. I wouldn't be surprised if that makes over half the list Forge World.

Space Wolves have unique organization that may not be duplicated by Primaris, so it's probably worth while to get some regular marines. Grey Hunters are sweet since they can get Bolters, pistols, and chainswords making them tactical/assault hybrids. Blood Claws on the other hand are great cheap assault troops, try them with jump packs.

The plan is to organize them into blobs, with the Warboss and Big Mek at the center, each surrounded by a Warbiker unit, with a screen of Stormboyz out front, hopefully all within 9" for the 5++ from the KFF.
Each big blob advances up their side of the side, relying on the Stormboyz, Dakkaguns, and Kombi-skorchas for clearing infantry, and all the PKs for punching big n' scaries.
Last turn is using the inherent speed of whatever's left to snag objectives real quick.

Well yes. But they're fucking lethal with two attacks at S6 AP-2 D2. With a Rhino to get them there and soak overwatch and the new charge rules ensuring they get to at least hit at least once they can finally do their job. Previously they'd often all die before even swinging. If they all had power armor they'd be a LOT more expensive.

To the previous threads question about SoBs, vehicles, and faith:

>>53713287
>>53713154
SOB vehicles do not have the "acts of faith" rule. Only models with the "acts of faith" rule can "trigger" the effect or receive the effect (in reference to celestine and imagifiers).
Because auras are not used inside a vehicle, celestine give faith to a unit inside a vehicle, or a banner from inside a vehicle.
Faith is also bad because of the phase it starts in: before the movement phase.

So this means all faith must be conducted before any other actions: such as disembarking
You cannot, for instance, faith a unit of dominions inside a transport to disembark them as faith doesn't specify if its rules work inside transports. BRB says that models inside transports cannot be modified or touched without a rule that specifically states so.

This also REALLY makes seraphim quite bad. They cannot drop in, use faith to move or shoot, and then shoot again. Hand Flamers/Infernos are awful due to this.
>>
>>53715387
They're definitely worth it, though used differently this edition. Used more to focus-fire priority targets.

Note that we no longer have a rule preventing the unit firing MLs from not benefiting from those MLs, so the 3pt ML on FW 'ui's is really nice. Aside from that, ML Drones are your friend.

I'm well aware of the Rubric, but the Rubric Marines hardly count as Thousand Sons anymore. It's the sorcerers who matter. They've always existed in very limited numbers (Amon's ship, the Sycorax, had around 36 if Ahriman: Exile is to be believed. Considering Amon was the most prominent Sorcerer in the Legion after Ahriman went into exile I can't imagine any other Lord commanding more). Between accidents, constant betrayals, and normal warfare it seems like their losses would far outweigh their ability to produce stable, psychically powerful, and loyal Marines.

The "acts of faith" section is DEFINING the rule of "Acts of Faith" which only sister infantry units have. No vehicle or other units have it.

Nope.

They're all regrouping since their battlesuit-based armies are now quite nonviable outside of a 5000 points apocalypse showdown. Trying to get enough actual troops on the table to meet above-patrol detachment levels.

Markerlights are no longer consumed on use, so placing 5 MLs on a single target can benefit multiple of your units which focus-fire it to oblivion. This encourages larger ML-units as opposed to the old way of "just enough to reliably get 2 ML on a target". They also have more diverse and situational uses, such as reducing movement penalties or enabling missile-use. So if you want to be able to focus down large priority targets, you'd want a big old group (10 PF?), and if you wanted a unit to be particularly mobile or make use of missiles, you'd have a few ML models tag along. Pathfinders also have much better special weapons this time around, due to universal split-fire, so they're really just nice in general.
>>
>>53715529
so by 'they' you mean people who played Tau only for the power, not because they like the army concept, look, lore, etc.
>>
>>53715489
There's no mixed signals.

Used to be you could throw in a few markerlights and the list could benefit from their minor buffs. Or you could go whole hog with markerlights and rely on them to get your damfage done.

Now, in 8ED, you either go whole hog with a shit load of marker lights, seeker missiles, and units in range to use them.

Or don't take any at all.

I'm going to add to this.
Just being able to reroll 1's is more decent than people are acting, especially as it's not used up.
Run only a few markerlights and you can get that bonus to all your army firing at that unit.

it's half as good as +1BS for most Tau, but have two units firing and now it's back up to being as useful as old markerlights. And again, the unit firing the markerlight can use it.

That's pointless though. They do not "move" onto the board. You specifically come in via Sky Strike and cannot move. So, yes, you may be able to give them an AoF to use...but it does nothing.

As it is written now, faith is quite wobbly in its actual effect on the tabletop. Especially as it takes place within none of the tradtional "phases" of the turn order. A simply change of making faith take place in the psychic phase removes about 100% of the issues it has.

He's designed for the 60mm heresy base, so I'll have to magnet him to some debris on the 70x105 Cawl uses when I switch to that, but I'm thinking he'll look OK. Remove some of the back and wire in the AMagos torso with a bunch of cables, then bolt on breacherplate over the top but leaving a couple gaps to show them off. Yeah, what the fuck happened to their art team, anyway?
I knew there was something that bothered me about their new art. It just looks... cheaper and shittier somehow compared to the old stuff.
Hell, even some of the sketch-tier ink stuff in the old rulebooks looked better than the modern shit.
Is it just because of the software they use now?

>>53716270

my list was 1103 points or 58 power level.

10 Rubrics with 3 Flamers and one Soulreaper cannon in a Chaos Landraider.

5 Scarab Occult with Hellfire Missles and Soulreaper Cannon in Deepstrike.

10 Tzaangors walking around together with Ahriman.

In my opinion, TS were buffed in 8th due to the fact that they are cheaper while getting stronger at the same time. Against Bolter, your Rubrics have no a 2+ Armor Save. And if you Deepstrike the Scarabs they are in rapid fire range with their Bolters and because they are rapid fire 2 now, they have 4 shots with each bolter. thats gonna melt space marines.

>>53716456
You can't have more than one, but it's listed as the plural to make it clear that it's included in the grouping of 5 models along with the Tankbustas.

The fact that it's plural is what lets you know that it's 5 (tankbustas or boss nobz), and not (5 tankbustas) or (boss nobz), since if the latter was true and they meant for you to get 2 squigs for the nob, it would be singular.

Wouldnt hurt. Since I'm thinking of it though, having the full unit with assault weapons lets you footslog easier by advancing.

As far as footslogging goes, warptime is definitely your friend there. In matched you can only use it once though I think per turn, so if you're doing that instead of narrative you might benefit from one squad being in a rhino so you can psychically move the other.

Oh, also, warptime is great for getting scarabs in warpflamer/assault range after deep strike

I had this big long thing but I accidentally deleted it so here's a short version

Archon- Huskblade is overpriced compared to other options, but it's cheap so don't worry. Maybe use Kabalite bits to make the model look better, it's kind of silly base.

Kabalite loadouts 10/10

Trueborn good as a generalist unit here, I like this. Squad leader is called a Dracon. Dis Cannon good as anti-terminator but is a bit niche, up to personal preference.

Scourges want to have all dark light, you will want anti tank later everything else already has anti infantry. Consider Dark Lances or Blasters based on Damage vs. not taking a -1 to hit when moving/deepstriking. You should have enough bits in other boxes to make enough see: Kabalite Dark Lances can be Dark Lances or turned into Blasters, Shredders make good Blasters with some conversion work.

Ravager a best.

Very solid list overall, I like it a lot.
>>
>>53716691
All of those look pretty solid. I'd just be against the hellbrute because it's not very TS-fluffy but then again as long as you can convert an appropriate-looking one, you can excuse whatever. That said, you might find your ExSorc not doing much for now since Ahriman will take all 3 unique spells while ExSorc is a buffer/Smite-thrower. Until the codex arrives to fix our painful lack of mindbullets, you might be better served with more dudes.

I do like that 500 pointer though. I'd imagine you could fucking crush next to anyone with that.

After a good slow read through of the Ork index I must say I'm very pleased / satisfied with our current standing.

>Solid troop core in Warhammer Assaulting edition
>Multiple layers of mass unit preservation (KFF, Painboys, Nobz in morale phase on a 6+, Warboss, Mob rule)
>Mass WS buff meaning every Ork unit can and will be hitting on 2+
>Cheap units in comparison
>Solid heavy support walkers (<3 Gork)
>Fast attack meaning exactly that
>Tough as shit transports
>Character buffs that benefit that playstyle (Badrukk = Flashgitz, Zagstrukk = Stormboyz)
>No real downsides

Its a solid index that can easily hold its own for the time being. Lets just hope codex creep doesn't come back anytime soon.

Ok guys I have a problem, combined with some story time.

So our LFGS has a problem with B.O. Body Odour. The manager has tried to speak to people about it, but people don't want to deal with it. They either don't listen to him or say they'll do something about it and then come back the next day stinking.

You might think "Ok so some guys stink its a hobby store that's going to happen", but no, this is a serious issue. The entire fucking STORE stinks. There's no air flow because theres no windows, its all indoors. No air conditioning. They've tried scrubbing down the carpets, they've tried febreze, these cunts are just causing so much stench that it physically makes you cringe when you enter the store.

It's offputting, no one wants to play there it's so bad. People have tried to tell the manager he needs to fucking kick these people out, as it's the equivalent of Anti Social Behaviour. It's as if they're indirectly shoving their hands up their ass and then in our faces.

He says he's not allowed to do any more than that but I call bullshit. Have any of you anons had experience in this area? Please we need help. It's not a GW store, it's a generic hobby store, but it stocks so much GW merch it might as well just be an independent GW store.

>Tell them it's a conversion.
Tried that when I was explaining another idea I had, they weren't chill with it.
They have some really strange WYSIWYG policies. On one hand, owner's UM-playing son is running his Gerantius as an Atrapos to test it out, on the other the Shadow War campaign has to be WYSIWYG down to combat blades and scopes, in the one game where you change wargear after literally every match,
Also they never set a win point for the 6wk campaign, so of course when I pop in after only going the first day then being busy for a month UM-guy has 140 caches because he's there most days.

>>53716741

Well, I already have the Kataphron bits spare from the Destroyers I have, but yeah, it's a pricy build. Never seen any conversions more advanced than gluing on a few different bitz there, really, other than my DG friend's Nurgle Knight with some Terrorgheist parts giving it a "spine". I'm still making my half-kitbashed Magos Biologis army because I want to, despite them being the only store I've heard of within an hour's train. Odd there aren't more around Exeter, honestly.

>>53716868

Nah, a guy. Normally kinda chill, just not about proxies and such. Think he's a bit terse thanks to dealing with the five thousand kids there, though, rather than because he's not a nice guy. Son is a bit of an abrasive dick, though.

I don't understand people who have bad B.O. and don't do something about it. I've had bad B.O. since puberty hit, and all I had to do is change my habits. Showers morning and evening (either before I go out or before bed, depending on my level of social activity that day), aggressive scrubbing and soaping, washing clothes with a strong detergent, brushing and mouthwash twice a day. It's not that hard, just change your habits. To be fair, nothing helped until I removed my tonsils, so maybe these fucks have failing kidneys or something.
>>
>>53717310
That's strange. The GW stores I've played in simply ask that a conversion is mostly GW parts and identifiable as the model, mainly weapon wise. Given that you're using all GW stuff I'm surprised there's an issue.

I've played 5 games (Eldar, Eldar, Ynarri, SM, CD) and won them all with my Ork Hordes. All of these changes are fantastic, and I love having a ton of KFF running around supporting my Boyz.
>>
>>53717437
Presumable to keep them within 6" of a character.
>>
>>53717359
It takes effort and requires them to consider it an issue.

It's also hard if you live very solitary and lack goals in life.

When I'm unemployed things go south very fast, washing clothes seems pointless, sheets are left greasy, diet becomes monotonous causing mass gas, garbage and dirty dishes are left to sit and you lose track of what's smelly or not.

I'm glad I have friends that aren't afraid to tell me when I'm slipping.
The B.O. bandits may have "polite" people or noone at all.
>>
>>53717437
basically the warboss and painboy sit at the back of the board hiding behind a building. but because they are within 6' of the conga line the entire squad (most of which is like 2 feet away) gets the the benefits of the warboss and painboy.
>>

>>
>>53717362
I think it's the "identifiable as the model" part. I like to kitbash stuff with all the right equipment but a different look to the usual model, otherwise what's the point, really. Hence the Whale-stormbird airship Genetor thing. You couldn't glance over this army once I'm done with it and tell at a glance what every model is, since I'm doing custom Castellax, artillery (although that's not major conversion from the basic Basilisks), Servitors, Occularis, Magi, pretty much everything not a Thallax, Ursarax, Myrmidon or Macrocarid. Hence the "we don't sell that REEE" response. Understandable with the StormWhale, since it's a little narrower and lacks wings as such, and is mostly built around a third-party model, but everything else is GW, greenstuff and faffing about with files.
>>

>>

>>
>>53717488
orks benefit mutually from having a ton of boyz in the squad, I think for every 10 addition boyz you get 1 extra attack in melee per model, which makes up for not all of them being able to pile in.
>>
>>53715995

I don't think so. The part you're referencing is from the Knight Commander rule, which is a permissive elaboration on the core Tank Command rules for Pask.

The rule states: "...can issues orders to a friendly Cadian Leman Russ..."

The knight commander bit just also allows him to command cadian tank commanders.

>>
So! Marauder Bomber. How do you think the bombing run for a Lord of War like that will work?

I mean, if the Sunshark gets up to 10 Mortal Wounds on a 5+, I feel the strategic bomber should get something suitibly epic. Maybe just the ability to hit ALL units underneath it instead of 1? Or maybe just up to a certain number like 3?

I can't help but hope for awesome. An aircraft that wipes out a chunk of the board, in exchange for having slow speed or crap maneuverability, is so much cooler in my eyes than another, boxier tank.
>>
>>53717530
You have to be within 1" of a model that is within 1" of an enemy model. A base is more or less 1" in diameter then you can get two extra ranks of boyz into combat by having them pile in so that the 3rd rank's bases are wedged between the bases of the second rank.

>>
>>53717478
You don't have to stuff the whole squad in 9, you can allocate the wounds to the models closer enough to get the save.
>>
>>53717383
It's the simplest fucking thing if you tie them together. The morning shower and dental care are tied together with breakfast, the evening showers are tied with me either reaching for my keys to go out or heading to bed, the laundry is tied with the weekend, I have a reminder in my phone to check if I have enough of the body wash which seems to be the only one that staunches the stank, and evening dental care is tied with me taking my nightly medication. If you try to start a habit cold turkey, sure it's hard. But if you tie it to things you already do, then it's stupidly easy
>>53717457
Maybe it's because I'm always looking for approval, but to me the fashion in which I am perceived by other people is immensely important. I learned to be precise in my language because I was tired of being misunderstood as a child, I buy craps dice because I'm afraid of being accused of cheating, I watch painting guides because I'm afraid of having ugly models. Turn your weaknesses into strengths, and you can do anything you set your mind to. It also helps that I'm a massage therapist for a living, so any beauty/skincare products can be written off as a business expense.

That's not because he's an exceptional fighter, though, it's because he's an Archmagos. They do that, at that rank you basically pick a body and build it for yourself. Hence, he likes what that body lets him do. You could get dreadnought AMagi, computer-brain-jar AMagi, Mr House AMagi, all kinds of nonsense. Including, actually, extremely attractive normal human exteriors if they have to work outside the Admech for a lot, like Titan Legion liasons with planets. Still augmented under the abs, though, so they're no less noospehrically linked than any other Magos, and most can still punch though walls with enhanced muscle, throw lightning or sprout various weapons as usual.

No reason for Cawl to limit his augments to the invisible, especially not for ten thousand reasonably reclusive years, that's just where he wound up.

My question is how valuable are sniper wolf scouts in 8e? Or regular wolf scouts armed with boltguns and/or bolt pistol/assault blade combo?

I've got 12 or 13 different scouts mixed between sniper, bolt pistol/assault blade or bolt gun load outs for shadow war.

Are scouts any good or do they get wrecked by the new units? I was thinking of going for a full time of sniper wolf scouts, some wulfen, some primaris bolt gun guys and I don't know what else.

Do you think chadmarines have genetically enhanced cocks? Are they like 16" long? Do they have to have a special cock docking area in one of the legs of their armor?

When you got nothing to do but make a perfect body, why NOT be almost two stories tall?

My beef is why is the techpriest stepping on a book? Dude! Your faction's on the constant hunt for knowledge, and you're trampling a symbol of knowledge into the dirt!

Rusty metal, tribal warpaint, loads of dirt.

Sorry if I'm wrong Brother. I probably came off as an asshole but those would be my first actions.

Most mechanicum priests fall into the category of seeking beauty through functionality and optimal mechanics, but it'd be interesting to see a human genetics focused magos with the same mentality as the emperor that the human form is sacred make himself a perfect metallic zeuslike collossus of a body.
>>
>>53717925
He ONLY steps on the book. Lore-wise, it's a symbolic thing to show that he's become a master of knowledge, and holds power over it, iirc.

1. Can I disembark after the transport has moved ?

2. Does disembarking count as "moved" even if I´m not moving the unit itself afterwards ?

3. (Implying I can disembark after the transport has moved) Do disembarked units count as "moved" only in case the transport has moved beforehands ?

They exist. In fact, it's an entry on this extremely awesome Tech-priest generator someone pointed me to.

>Corpus Gloriosa: The Tech-Priest's body is a thing of aesthetic perfection, whether constructed with the devotion of a renowned artisan or gene-sculpted into a vision of corporeal perfection. Very useful for dealing with those outside the Cult Mechanicus, who set more store in appearances.

I mean, the Archmagos Genetor for my army is a horrible spiderlike abomination when he goes to war and the Secutarii Axiarch is covered in nerve sockets and Titanshard armour, but the Magos Reductor is basically a normal tall guy in a robe with a mechadendrite harness that locks into a single small pair of ports midway up the spine. He takes them off and dons normal clothes, he's somewhat handsome but forgettable. He commands the Mechanicum ships, so he doesn't fight much personally.

Nigga are you serious?
>>
>>53718083
That's about it.

New xenos army, not related to existing ones. Hrud like. What they meant with that? The hell if I know; trusting GW Spaniard representative is not a thing I do often.
>>
>>53718149
yes, so do you have a serious answer or what ?
>>
>>53714148
Any revival of Sanguinius would rob his tragic sacrifice during the Horus Heresy of all its meaning. His death at the hands of his once beloved brother Horus is analogous to Cain and Abel.

No.
No.
See number one.

Wait. Try that again.

No.
Yes.
