Given a loss of 5-10% accuracy, 1d6 is better than 1d4 (3.5 average vs 2.5 average is 40% more damage). You can throw literal fucking pebbles you pick up off the ground and deal more damage than a laser pistol.

Actually, wouldn't Starfinder require whole new fighting locations and scenes? There's only so many back alley brawls you can do for melee.

Stuff like combining Advanced Warfare's car-jumping freeway chase where terrorists in technicals try to shoot you down while you try to get the marksman to stop the kidnapper's car like in Silent Scope.

Battles against Xenomorphic guards that have multiple arms for multiple attacks on top of their Acid+Tail attack combo that just melts the Stamina of melee characters.

Copying from every SCHMUP game ever and having bosses with multiple phases and attacks that chew through everything in front of them.


Even the melee classes should pack a pistol or a shield or something.

but I do notice that FTL was granted to people by one of the gods, and that is going to come and bite technology in the ass hard within a few splatbooks. It'll be innocuous enough at first: A high level spell lets you FTL without a ship, a high level spell lets you shut down a battlecruiser for a few rounds, a high level spell does more damage than an entire battery of high grade cannons... But it'll eventually combine with things like domain abilities, feats, other abilities, particular PRCs and the like until the entire concept of starships becomes "the stupid way to get around" for all adventurers.

By then, the starfinder equivalent to PoW will have come out and people will be one-round ragepouncing dreadnoughts with their axe, no matter how much someone puts of their build into making the dreadnought good, because it was simply the wrong way to have fun now.

PCs are beyond 'that abnormal'. PCs are quite literally meant to be those legendary existences in the making. Hell it was flat out stated back in 2nd ed; a "fighter" only gained the actual class because of some heroic aspect or lineage; they were either chosen as a hero or descended from a fucking god. Soldiers were just regular level 0 men-at-arms. They could become veterans, but only like their fucking captains had a real class.

Women can use bows. They may not be able to handle quite the pull that men can, but at the end of the day, training and skill will ensure that arrows get in the eyes they need to get into from either sex.

WATER BALLOON FIGHTER

So, part of me for JttW wants to build an ancient and powerful Youkai Kitsune enchanter.

The build I am looking at for the moment is on one side Sorcerer, and on the other a lot of dips. Dipping alchemist for a Cognatogen, dipping Arcanist for an arcane reservoir, and Bard for a few other things.

All in all at level 10 my DCs for spells like Extended Charm Person, Dominate Person, Extended Suggestion, etc. is hovering in the 35-40 range.

I'm more thinking of the character being a bitter CE trickster spirit who hates civilization and wants to purge most mortals. A mangey angry sort of fox.
