The ending was kind of abrupt because the plot was kind of all over the place in part 4, and was more slice of life with occasional stand fights. I think most of 5 still has a shitty translation, but it's kind of an improved version of part 3. Part 6 tends to be divisive with some people really liking it while others seem to really dislike it. A lot of people seem to really like 7, and it's one of the most popular parts, with possibly the most solid plot, but I was never particularly interested in it. Part 8 is more like part 4 again, though with more of a plot, but I stopped reading it because the monthly waits were annoying and I figure I'll just read all of it in one go when it's done.

Not very often at all. I prefer to either get the actual character or else come up with my own designs, since if I'm having to make an OC anyway, I might as well use that power to give them a more customized look.

It really varies based on the companion in question. Bloody Mary from The Wolf Among Us looks almost exactly like that one psychopathic delinquent of a Prototype I met while throwing helicopters into lakes. Orro (Oowagh is RACIST to the noble giant race) jump-canonically looks like a DS2 giant. And Merela's an odd case in that she's sorta canon in that she Exalted as Basphomy in Verdiris, but the Solar (guess who) whose memories she inherited from the First Age is the OC part, and she's from the 3rd edition Infernals preview. Which might not be set in stone.

Mother has "The Tale First Begins As A Tragedy", for +300CP. I used part of the CP to pay for a new robot companion.

Then in the Robot Unicorn Attack gauntlet, there's "Always", again for +300CP, although you have to import a companion for -100CP first.
Technically you're granted the opportunity to run from it to try and save the companion you're putting up for grabs, but... I didn't bother.
In exchange I got some kindof Nightmare that l͍͢ov̖̠͢e̯͉͍̺͓̖̥s͖ me unconditionally.

It's sortof a running gag at this point that anytime I brutally sacrifice a companion, they are immediately replaced in that very same jump.
Although I guess it's only funny to me.

I'm almost certain there was one other jump I took that had a similar option to those, but I'm blanking on it.

You could build a makeshift Vats complex on a Demesne, but then they don't have access to their other charms or their technicians.

Hopefully, they know enough to actually build a Vats complex, train some people in how to do their upgrades and swapping out their Charms (which they'd have to rebuild from scratch, since all those are back home), and even more hopefully they've got the skill to design Charms themselves... But realistically they're screwed, yes.

This felt like a blade had been positioned directly behind my neck and was ready to fall after judgement had been passed on me, like a criminal at their execution.

Cautiously, I look up to them. One hand of mine is raised, ready to fight my way out, but the taller one raises a hand.
