Sanguinius Crying Kids to Death Edition
Chibi Titans Sub-Edition
Power levels, recruitment techniques and OC fluff were discussed on the setting where FW has no sense of scale. Primarchs endure injury while Vulkan burns everything and Sanguinius weaponizes his tears. All of that, but so sooooo much more in the actually comfy previous thread ->53638781

The Cortus has rules that make it better for melee, namely optional +1I.
The Furibundus is a melee dread, but they decided to release a budget dread and give it the ability to kick non-budget dreads' asses in melee.
>>
Does anyone update the MEGA anymore or do they just post one-off links to new releases?
>>
>>53661218
I think he means it would have been nice if they named the Cortus a Furibundus, or named the Leviathan that. The Fury was an assault Dread. Although the Levi is more visually removed from the Contemptor and Deredo.

That's not counting candy coats (clear colors over metallics, like you often see for Thousand Sons or Alpha Legion). Those can be fun too.

Black is pretty easy too, but more difficult to make it pop and look really nice.

I think that Sons of Horus and Alpha Legion are special in that some people get that specific fucking shade of turquoise or iridescence that just makes them absolute beauties.

True suffering is any of the three loyalists on Terra: Blood Angels (red), Imperial Fists (yellow), and White Scars (white).

r8 my character background.

(1/2) when dorn disapeared he actually took refuge in the warp
after many years wondering aimlessly he came in to contact with his long lost brother leman russ

With the flood of memories rushing back to him, the two embraced. I warrior hand shake and a bortherly hug soon turned to more....

dorn held the wolf lords face in his gauntleted hands

and leaned in, pressing his lips to the lips of the king of the russ.
they kissed passionately...
>>
>>53663325
nuln that shit desu
>>
>>53665038

(2/2) warp energies surrounded and penetrating them

dorn could feel russ' unshaven stuble scraping against his face and could no longer hold back

with the scream of a warrior whos purpose had been long lost

he bent russ over and wrenched open the back of his armor. The ceramite plates squeeling as they parted and peeled away
with russ' unshaven ass beared for all the warp to see dorn leaned close to russ' ear from behind and whispered

"youre insistin' on a fistin'" and inserted the entirety of his mailed fist into russ' ass

The wolf lord yowled in pain and pleasure
savoring every tear of his sphincter as dorn pressed deeper.
ever onwards, further into russ' rectum
but dorn had made a fatal mistake...

>>53665065

(3/2) in his lust, he had forgotten to lube his gauntlet
the trauma of the forced anal and subsequent blood loss sent russ into shock, and he promptly collapsed, dying
he gazed into dorns eyes and with his final words rasped "rogal my brother....It was an honor to meet my end in this way, but i must make a request of you. Return to the imperium and take up command of my sons, the space wolves. Lead them to glory in the name of their lost primarch and the emperor"
and with those last words, russ succumbed to his injuries.

Unbeknownst to the two primarchs, a veteran of dorns own was watching quietly from the sidelines the entire time. Brother Siegwald of the Imperial Fists first company, 5th squad had been observing them through the whole debacle, his 13 inch length, 2 3/4 diameter adeptus custodick in his gauntleted hand the entire time. Tugging to and fro vigorously the whole while. As the final breath of life escaped Russ' lips the veteran could control his lust no longer and released his virulent payload, spattering it across the ornate power armor of the former primarch of the vylka fenrika. He had performed his duty with honor and courage, performing to the standard fitting of a son of Dorn. He would later return to his chapter where his story would spread, earning him many honors, including an appointment to the deathwatch....

Easily done:
>Never as one of the tallest AL femarines have you ever thought of yourself as something special. You are what the Unbroken Chain needs you to be.
>"Gonna get changed, Eris?" interrupts the Mistress of Signals, getting in your way. You nod.
>"Give this to High Command for me when you see them, will ya? I need to get going" she tells you as she places a heavy briefcase in your hands...before cuffing you to it and darting away.
>You are startled by the sudden buzz of your helmet's vox: "This is legion High Command. Wielder of [Bleep], report to our Femarch's chambers IMMEDIATELY". Damn Mistresses, you could swear they can feel incoming transmissions before they're even issued.
>...
>Up in the ship's dorsal section, the elevator's doors open and you're dazzled by the marvelous sight of the anteroom to Alpharia's private chambers.
>"Submit all your equipment and go through the scanner", a servitor embedded in the wall orders you.
>You let go of your combi-melta, meltabombs, poison spheres and power dagger, and unclasp your power fist. You release your power armour's locks
>"Keep your armour on", you hear Alpharia say over the speaker. Her familiar voice sounds eager with anticipation.
>You comply and step in the dimly lit room, the door closing as soon as you enter.
>It is empty
>"Lockdown initiated. Communications blocked until code input"
>The briefcase opens on its own, and three ridged bars fall to the floor. Before you can realize it and despite not knowing what they are, you find yourself locking the bars together despite the complex joints. Your hands are shaking and your pulse accelerates.
>Suddenly you begin to remember, and look up to see a fellow legionnary identical to you without her helmet, gagged and with a visor on, her armour locked.
>You drag her down and whisper in her ear
>"Assuming direct control :^)"

Nikea was actively sabotaged by Lorgar and his accomplices. Librarians were never a problem, Sorcery was a problem, and the incident at Nikea showed the TS had long lost control of their own actions and decisions.

The TS's and Magnus should have been consigned to Terra under the watchful eyes of the SoS, the Imperial Fists and Custodes, helping guard Terra to have some use. They didn't do anyone good by sitting on Prospero.

I imagine that the SWs would be tied with the WEs for the most 'fuck it, who cares' legion regarding armour marks. Crusade armour looks good but Iron is cheap and plentiful, I imagine as one of the Emperors favoured legions they would have had a reasonable amount of MKIV too, maybe not as much as the traitors or IFs and BAs but still enough to kit out squads.

>I'll add Dark Angels to the mix
I meant with regards to who gets what rather than the legion having a large amount of different marks. The Lion being as tactically autistic as he is I imagine that every Dark Angel is issued with the correct suit for them to do their job if supply allows, so breachers get MK3, Seekers and Recon get MK4, line marines get what is available at the time etc.

Space Wolves and World Eaters generally give fewer shits about tactics so there wouldn't be as many hang ups about having the right armour for the job.
>>
Is there any fluff about the Imperial Fists and Dark Angels working together? I imagine that they would work well together as legions and their Primarchs would form an autistic crusader crew.

except for that time that Dark Angels champion kept trying to goad Siggy into a duel and Siggy was just like 'fuck off m7'

If they had been allowed ot work under the watch of Terra, things would have been fine and the HH would have gone VERY dffierently.

Grants Outflank and/or Scout and/or Counter-Attack to [stuff] and himself.
Just power armour with invul but has a fixed save if in melee due him doing backflips and handsprings and spinning-bird-kiks and stuff.
WS that can see him get Ld +1
Can start the game with Shrouded.
>>
>>53669315
WS8 BS5/6 S6 T6 W6 I8/9 A5/6 Ld10

I'm reckoning 2+ save and a 5++ invulnerable that increases if he has moved a certain distance or charged that turn or something similar to Fulgrim.

More attacks based on I difference.

Sire of the White Scars increases charge distance and initiative or alters reserve rolls maybe?

Things like outflank and counter attack might turn up somewhere.

>Khan

I don't even know, I feel with Russ and Magnus FW really topped out with how powerful a primarch can actually be on the table top, so either Lion, Sanguinius and Khan will be fairly underwhelming or the other primarchs get a tweek to bring them slightly more in line. I mean Angron is still W5 with a 3+ save, ohh great 6+ FNP, who gives a fuck.

Salamanders take a longer than normal amount of time recruiting and training their initiates, more akin to an apprenticeship (since they're also training to be smiths) than the more efficient spartan training most other chapters use.

Pretty much entirely ceremonial, and it ends with the recruit making their own weapon and killing a salamander, as the emperor and vulkan did.

>killing a salamander,
This is obviously the real reason, the number of marines is directly related to the population of an animal, and marines are outside the ecosystem.
So they have to make sure there are enough salamander animals to continue the species breeding over and above what would naturally exist so they can ritually cull them every few years.
Therefore they also have to cultivate the food chain so that the salamanders can be supported.
Therefore they also have to protect the salamanders from natural disasters, plagues and famines so that they don't drop to threatened levels of population.

There are so few Salamander Astartes because they spend at least a quarter of their time involved in complex animal husbandry and wildlife conservation projects.

I always laugh when the Custodes get all their hype as being peerless melee fighters worth a hundred lesser men when they then show up with swords and a distinct lack of heavy weapons other than a few dozen tanks. And ten thousand dudes maximum. They may be worth five hundred scrubby guardsmen each if the Guardsmen bring no heavy support and never decide to just leave rather than swarm him in melee, but with the resources it takes them to get a their enhancements and equipment you could send WAY more armoured units and about as many shitty Revenants as you want. They're more a single division than a Legion, really, although they may be about right for an old Roman Legion. At least a Titan Legion has thousands of Secutarii, Mechanicum helpers and their own navy included in the asking price.

Somehow I completely forgot that. The Custodes guy at the store talks them up to the point you'd think they were all Archmagi as well as fighters and could stab spaceships to death. It gets a little tiresome, my bad.

Remember that dude who wanted his Custodes to all be psychic and each of them to be an elite group within the Legio Custodes where their Sentinels are equal to the baseline Custodes Tribunes. How many layers of snowflake do you need?

>>53671305
Except the Custodes have tanks, transports, flyers, and basically everything they need. Their 'maximum' is a reflection that they take so damn long to make, and are so difficult to, that the Emperor found it easier to just keep them balanced at that, rather than expand further. And as the other anon said, they're not meant to prosecute longer campaigns.

Not to mention that like space-marines, there's a lot of non-quantifiable traits that are ignored on the tabletop. Namely that their minds are as 'perfect' as their bodies making them all superb strategists and tacticians. And beyond even space marines, they're immune to the psychological effects of facing daemons, and the taint of Chaos itself, to the point that they're almost impossible for a daemon to possess and take control of. If those 500 guardsmen were thrown into the webway to fight for 5 years, they the mental toll would be as devastating as the physical.

Hah, those guys always make me kek because it's so painfully obvious they don't know shit about the... flavour, if you will, of the faction. They're bodyguards, champions and philosophers created, equipped and trained for protecting and accompanying the Emperor. One of them can solo most things in the galaxy we have any real lore on, and probably a lot/most of the things we don't, but you won't see one of them taking on heavy tanks or (arguably, depending on loadout and specialisation) an Archmagos.

The support options in the Talon army list reflect this. Lots of fast, highly advanced vehicles vanishingly rare/so rare as to be unique to their organization. When they DO take to the field, they aren't merely the top of the spear, they're the tip of a spear made out of power-bladed scalpels that's being thrust by the Emperor Himself, punching through any defence imaginable with few or no losses and then moving on, because more so than even the Astartes they CAN NOT afford to get needlessly bogged down, and they CAN NOT fight a war of attrition on their own. That said, when circumstances force them (and they have allies to hold the line while they smack down the greatest threats) they excel as always. The Mechanicum held the Webway with SoS support, and with several Titans smacking down the greatest (in size, at least) of the enemy horde and devastating large gatherings, the Custodes systematically squished the enemy elite.

If any of the anons here max out their Custodes fluff, delete it and start again, beginning with their flaws and weaknesses, give them unique characteristics that set them apart but aren't necessarily all good. Not sure if headcanon, but I think Custodes are made to look good? Maybe that Shield-Captain's face got sprayed with molten metal when a glancing plasma bolt hit his face plate.

Hmm. The Emperor isn't part of the Legio Custodes though, so he's out.

10K Custodes have a significant technological advantage over the Ultramarines, and obviously they wouldn't just slug it out on a field. Honestly the Custodes would probably close with great speed and then carve up the Legion's command structure in melee, where their advantage would be overwhelming and the Ultramarines' numerical and ranged superiority (which was never in question) couldn't be brought to bear effectively. Even if Guilliman can take on fifty or more Custodes single-handedly (and that is a BIG if) I doubt he could take on, say 400 of them.

I think the Custodes would win. A thousand Custodes cut down some 100K Orks at the battle of Gyros-Thravian in instants, and even if that only translates to, say, 5-10 Ultramarines depending on where they land and the individual skills of the combatants, they still obliterate tens of thousands of Ultramarines in a minute or less of the start of the battle/disembarking their transports.

Of course, I'm basing much of my argument on the Custodes either teleporting in or managing to get sufficient numbers into the Ultramarine forces before being blasted by artillery and heavy ordnance, which seems very likely to me, given what we've been shown of both forces in existing lore.

Thoughts?

There was a guy in one of 40K General threads a week or two ago, who was talking about his Custodes army's personal fluff. It was bad. Because they were the super-secret prototypes of the Custodes, whom the Emperor ordered destroyed because they weren't perfect enough, and not protect him from the shadows since they're too loyal to betray him, even after he ordered their death.

Ya know guys, I honestly thought I was pushing things too far with my own idea until I read shit like that and the other skub that people are putting out there. My own idea being the one where my Shield-Captain and fellow Custodes are the Emperor's ceremonial executioners who fly around the Imperium executing high-traitors and other criminals of an extreme nature where it suits the Emperor's purposes to have a direct hand in the deed (and who sometimes have to kick in the victim's door and kill everyone who stands between them and the condemned while doing their job).

I really did think I was overdoing it, naming their squads after methods of punishment, translated into Latin, deciding they travel on a ship named the Censor (one of the first 3 prison ships ever used by the British Empire). But now I see that my inner-snowflake was nothing compared to the hail storm some people have tried to be. Especially since when I make up shit like the greentext below, it's from an autistic desire to have things as neat and filled out as the FW does it.

Some people may have great imaginations, but they just don't fully grasp some of the background restrictions that are more or less set in stone unless there are very clear exemptions or examples.

As a fellow Custodes player I make sure my fluff works, but at the end of the day they're still Custodes and still just a taskforce; no matter how flawless each warrior may be, they still must meet limitations of lore. Yeah, my Custode Tribune is meticulous, favors Dreads because he has a soft spot for their desire to fight on, he prefers diplomacy first, and yeah he's a monster when he gets into combat, but none of that places him above anyone else. It's easy to go overboard, it's hard to keep grounded.

> I have the whole command staff for My Dudes filled out, at least to the point of naming all the HQ slots and Lords of War.
Thankyou.

In my case the squads each have a name and a general role within the whole pageantry of the executions, such as the Sentinels' job being to actually protect the condemned, so that noone kills them while they're being marched to the chopping block. The Sisters of Silence squad, 'The Hangman's Daughters', have the honour of standing watch over them, and interrogating them if need be, until the hour of their death. The Hetaeron Guard stand as official witnesses for the Emperor and the Imperial Court, and so on through a bunch of other roles that I haven't completely ironed out. Finally the Captain and pair of Dreadnoughts will have a roll of names each a couple-dozen segments long (and in fluff longer, but I'm not researching hundreds of appropriately legendary names).

Ironically, Ixion Hale's paragon spear would be kinda perfect for my eventual HQ model, but I don't actually want something axe-like, and will probably end up using Constantin Valdor's model for him anyway.

In a pseudohistorical game where the major armies have established color schemes, yes, it is.

EC or AL are really the way to go.

Failing that, you could do White Scars with purple trim instead of red, or barely-purple Space Wolves (purplish-gray), or purplish-black Raven Guard. Blackshields are an option, or a wildly divergent chapter/company of any of the loyalist legions but that's a little weird.

By assuming the battle is just their 10000 man blob in one big scrum together, you're kinda missing the part where the legions' whole advantage amounts to being coordinated enough to ensure they're fighting on their own terms. At the larger scale, logistics and infrastructure easily end up overshadowing hardware quality.

Remember that orbital platform incident in Master of Mankind? The one where the Sagittarium Gaurd (on jetbikes no less) blew effortlessly through every defender they met, but with the time and resources in place failed to prevent the Fists from carrying out what was effectively a major palace breach?

They aren't a massive blob because that means they're killing less Ultramarines. Their numerical advantage and strategic ability doesn't matter if its 250K vs 10K, the Custodes are going to spread out and kill a dozen or so Astartes in a minute or less each. Let's be EXTREMELY generous and say that on average they only kill 3 dudes each. That's still 30K Astartes dead in seconds, and the battle has only just begun.

If we're talking a WAR as opposed to BATTLE, the odds remain in favour of the Custodes, since EVERY SINGLE ONE of them is, at the VERY minimum, a decently capable commander. They work together instinctively and can individually take on 3-4 Astartes at the same time for hours, dying only when the occasional blow sneaking past adds up with the others to kill them.

If the Ultramarines go full Iron Warriors on the other hand and call in artillery strikes on their own position etc the odds are better for them.

To be honest the only faction/army in 30K I'd trust to sqush the Custodes would be the Mechanicum and, possibly, the Imperial Army. They both bring the kind of absurd numbers even several Legions together can't hope to match, and they both have access to tech that can kill even a Custodes, Mechanicum moreso than Army.

Basically, Astartes Legion can't take the Custodes because while they outnumber them a dozen or two to one, the Custodes are elite enough to make up for the difference the same way Astartes routinely win battles even further not in their favour (numerically). The Mechanicum have the right mix of numbers and weird shit to bog the Golden down while focusing them down with artillery, plasma and stuff, but the Legions have the numbers and high enough individual superiority to best the individual Forge World if a whole Legion is smacking them.

Custodes > Astartes > Mechanicum > Custodes, basically.

>If we're talking a WAR as opposed to BATTLE, the odds remain in favour of the Custodes, since EVERY SINGLE ONE of them is, at the VERY minimum, a decently capable commander.
I would've said the exact opposite, especially when the legion you're comparing them to is the Ultramarines. Their expertise is individual and small battles, the kind that matter the most when you're a bodyguard and personal executioner sort of force. They don't even coordinate very well at the squad level.

Their equipment advantage could be decisive - I'm not saying they'd necessarily lose. But I'd trust the UM to produce better warcraft.
>>

He didn't dream of that :^)
>>
>>53675392
The Custodes might have an initial advantage if they teleported in but the Ultramarines would be able to outmaneuver and isolate them. Custodes can't stand up to sustained bolter fire and legions have heavy ordinance to assist them. The bananamen would get bogged down and shelled to pieces. They performed well in the Webway against berserker World Eaters who can't into tactics but the 13th would cut them apart. They just aren't made for warfare at that scale.
>>
>>53675392
You missed my point. How'd everyone get to that big fight, for starters? Bearing in mind the Legions like to monopolize Mandeville point access around battlezones and the 10000 don't even have a fleet, I'm thinking the Custodes won't exactly have the luxury of their forces being in place and on schedule. Or arriving at all, pretty often.

>>53676037
You mean they performed well for five years against an infinite army of respawning daemons that, at the very end, were supported by traitor Titans and Astartes from (if I remember correctly) 3 separate Legions. While the Ultramarines might successfully outmanoeuvre them, but I doubt they'd do it on a scale sufficient to take out a full 10K Custodes. They aren't Iron Warriors with large numbers of armour, ordnance, artillery and special/heavy weapons. Their schtick is being tactically flexible, and I don't think that's enough to outmanoeuvre opponents who are faster, stronger, more skilled, more tenacious, have better morale and are VASTLY more manoeuvrable than they are. They aren't Raven Guard, Blood Angels, Night Lords or another Legion known for being fast or moving about stealthily.

>>53676002
Certainly. There is a lot more to war than beating armies, but I think the Custodes would overwhelm the Ultramarines in almost every individual battle, and that would cost the Ultramarines the war. Against almost every kind of opponent, you'd still want Ultramarines tho, since they can hit more things more often, which is more useful in a full scale war.

>>53676044
The Custodes are individually Lords of the Imperium second to the Emperor and equal to the Primarchs in authority everywhere but in regards to their Legions, unless they're actively speaking on the Emperor's behalf. They both seem unsure if they can beat each other. Interesting. Can't wait for Angelus.
>>
>>53676561
I mean that units of orks don't fight in a coordinated fashion.
>>
>>53676136

He spent 2 years blue balling him with autistic circular redeployments that just perpetuated a mutual defensive stalemate out in mutually worthless space. The VIII ran out of patience and yolo'd in just to get things over with.
Kinda like how Sevatar ended his duel with Sigismund...
>>
>>53676561
He's saying each ork in a mob fights on his own without taking others into account for battle plans.
>>
>>53676581
>>53676591
So nothing like Custodes, then? I mean, sure the Golden fight separate from each other and typically don't expect or give help, but they're still in cohesive units with excellent battlefield co-ordination, you know? They fight like teams of cmaphions, not a mob of uncontrollable savages or worse, Night Lords
>>
>>53676620
*Champions. The humiliation, it burns... I am unworthy of the Emperor's light...

To me, they go forth and kill stuff. And they're damn good at it: if it works then it isn't stupid.

Custode wanking is almost as bad as anything to do with the Space Wolves.

Why does everyone hate the goddman jiffs?

I mean, they have theyr things going on, but idk, they are kinda cool, maybe

Ok Russ is an asshole, but Vikings in Space!
>>
>>53676930
Mostly it's their hypocrisy and bleed-over from 40K.

>>53676898
It isn't wanking if it is the Golden.

I will concur that 30k space wolves have all the style and appeal that I wish their 40k pups had.
>>
>>53676930
Because they're fucking lame.

I've uploaded a bunch of 40k shit, the goal is to create a more complete single library that is regularly updated

Because they're speshul snowflakes that are too cool for rules, and my rune PRIESTS are different, and why should I learn gothic? You learn Fenrisian :DD
It's not too comforting that their defense is "at least they aren't 40k Space Wolves". But the concept of space vikings isn't bad.

In the Bolter & Chainsword forums, ADB says that Alan Bligh's plan was to convert 30k to 8th edition with minimal delay. That's why initial word from FW was that it'd be porting over. Now he's gone, and that is THE reason that HH is sticking with 7th. ADB says that it wouldn't have crossed Bligh's mind to think it couldn't be done - it's not a structural issue. Just as FW came up with its own force org charts and refused to adopt 7th's "everything scores" rule, it could have added rules over 8th as required.

But now that it's not up to Alan, plans can and have changed. The exact plans are either NDA-protected or still in flux, though.

Am I the only one actully butthurt because all the HH novels about the Dark Angels main storyline are fuking atrocious?

I expected them to be much better, the Fallen thing had a lot of potential
>>
>>53677544
What was atrocious about them? I liked them

The pathing for example was a bit all over the place, and the characters, felt like it was a competition in wich one was more of an asshole

What I got out of the DAngels novels was that Luther did nothing wrong.

I could get past all the BS in 40k, even all the new shit that's absolute garbage, if it wasn't for the fact that without fail every SW player I've met has eaten that shit up and been pretentious as fuck about it. They're the kind of people that will unironically wear that shirt with three wolves and the moon on it.

SW&WS, they're both shit.
Especially at defeating mighty ork fortresses made of literal scrap

The answer to that is always 'no'. In this case, it's because Gav Thorpe's writing is pretty divisive. Some people like his DA books, but I'm not sure it's a majority.

The White Scars chose a low gothic cognomen whereas the Vylka Fenryka decided to be snowflakes.

I do wonder how the White Scars are called in Chogorian, or as the Imperium calls it, "Mundus planese".
