Silea Ravni - a /tg/ community minecraft server

General Rules

1.) No combat hacks.
This means no usage of modded clients which give a direct mechanical aim/damage/range bonus to its user. Xray is fine. Minimaps are fine. Kill Aura and trajectory predictors are not.

2.) No spamming.
Since there's no global chat, spamming can only be done in 3 ways and all 3 are guaranteed to get a permanent ban.
a) Creating/deleting a town repeatedly.
b) Consistently and rapidly privately messaging a person even after they've made it clear that they want you to stop.
c) Spamming the chat in lobby.
If more ways to spam are discovered, staff will take the necessary precautions to punish it even if it is not specifically covered by this rule at the time.

3.) Shitting up the /tg/craft wiki, board, discord or community in general.
This means the following;
a) Being banned repeatedly from the /tg/craft discord for severe and repeated rule violations. If you don't like the discord's rules, just stay away from it.
b) Editing lore of other players on the wiki without their explicit permission to do so at the time.
c) Submitting NSFW lore and imagery to the wiki or board.
d) Threathening community members and/or creating unnecessary personal drama and conflict with harrassment, blackmails, or humiliation.

4.) Intentionally disrupting the server's operation
Creating lag machines, bricking plugins, or abusing glitches, inadvertently or not, in such as a way to disrupt server operation will have the offending player temporarily banned for a duration of a week minimum and 60 days maximum. Since proper lag machines often require a team effort, or town members are atleast generally aware of what their neighbours are doing, the penalties may be shared across the entire town. Tell your fellow players to stop - if they refuse, report them.

5.) No Towns or Nations without Lore
If your town or nation does not have a wiki page up 72 hours after it has been founded, and this wiki page does not contain approximately 200 words of lore written in comprehensible english, you can expect to receive a warning from an admin. Several repeated warnings may result in your town being deleted.
Additionaly, if your lore is not representative of server theme, we may reject it. You will be given another 72 hours after then to try and write again, and you will be guided by the admin and/or the community towards improving your lore to fit in.
Failure to comply multiple times will result in a permanent ban. Pretending to be dumb and writing memelore that is blatantly ridiculing this rule's intent will get you temporary bans ranging from 24 hours to 30 days, or perhaps having the permission the make towns revoked from you permanently.

6.) No alt accounts allowed
Using multiple Minecraft accounts to play on this server will get you perma-banned on all of them..

My Redstone skills were best described as total garbage even before they updated it with a billion new options and transmission limits and such, so I doubt I'll be much good there, but I'll look up what's in the latest updates and see if I can come up with some kind of generic airship docking station and platform that doesn't look terrible. How would using the airships as transport even work? Command block teleports, or one of the many plugins?

That wouldn't take up much space at all, so I can go pretty nuts on the design. Maybe build an actual ship rather than a shell and then wire the teleporter into the cabins? That way you can actually redo the ship or use it to store stuff while setting up a new town.

Also if this ever does actually happen I claim the rights to make a flying airship carrier. Always wanted to try the "Guns of Icarus Capital Ship" as an actual base.

The server also uses zenchentments which add a shit ton of new enchants to the game. There is a sword enchant called gust which uses some health but propels you wherever you are facing so you can fly well with elytras or just have super jumps. There's also a glide one for leggings where you just press shift when falling and you get teleported to the ground below you and don't take damage.

Minecraft has some interesting features for adding your own items to replace existing ones. Most items you get in vanilla are based on the Handheld object. This item renders a 16x16(or any multiplicate of that) graphic on a flat plane, filling the N/W/E/S sides with a darker color of the pixel used for the top/bottom.
This makes it really easy to add items, but as you see with the axe in pic related, it leaves all items as flat bricks.

For other items like Shields we use actual 3d models. This obiously gives us way more freedom, but the creation process is quite tedious because the available tools are very clunky. I will probably restrict this shields because rl stuff doesn't leave with the time to make a lot of models.

A thing you can do with both types of items is use JSON data to rotate, position and scale items. There's quite a lot it in the background to display items properly, but a more interesting application is adding a sort of "stances" to items like with the sword you see. Sadly this is mostly restriced to first person mode to avoid clipping.

We can also animate item textures and combined with the Handheld object this we can make custom particle effects. But we probably won't see any of those because them look good can easily take 20x the work to make a static item.

This is one of my old animated demo objects.
The reason these items take so long is that each requires 10+ frames with slight variations. Minecrafts rendering method means an image that looks good animated makes for a pretty ugly model.
Sadly I can't make changes in runtime and I'm working on a potato. so every tiny change takes through a 3 minutes loading screen.

So how is this "prebuild" thing working? I am a tad out of date and haven't done this kind of actual organised server before. Do we get to start by just building stuff, or is it a getting ready survival type thing? How do you get on the server and get permission to do stuff?

Prebuilding is for adding towns and ruins to the world. A few select people that were decent on the previous iteration make trade hubs and dungeon in creative mode.
Then the server runs another two weeks in survival mode for balancing and playabillity testing.

On launch all the items get wiped so extra advantages for the testers.

There are some, like Towny which keeps people from fucking up your base if you claim the area. Or you can join a town. Also the admin will try to promote roleplaying and punish abuse/memeraiding.

You can totally make a hermit shack or join a nation and solely RP and have a good time.

There's no global chat, and RP is enforced to be at least light. Any nation on nation PvP has to be declared an hour in advance, giving both nations time to prepare for war.

It's a really wonderful server, especially for people who want a casual experience. There are opportunities for those who are hardcore about roleplay, pvp, building etc. The server is what you make of it - and I couldn't recommend it more!

NPC guardsmen that can be bought in huge numbers. Guns which extremely encourage defensive play. The fact that people can't grief your builds unless they siege, and sieging takes 8 minutes per a 8x8 block area. Most towns will take literal IRL days to siege. Unlike on most Minecraft servers, you've got a lot of options to defend yourself even if you're not skilled, and a lot of bias in PvP on defence.

Basically, there's only 2 types. You buy them with Emeralds. Swordsman costs 1 Emerald, Archer costs 2 Emeralds. They have 20 HP, and leather armour. They can be healed by being fed bread, like you would feed an animal.

They're can be ordered around to move to places, specified which enemies to fight only, told to attack a person or stop attacking, and even to keep patrol routes where they will attack enemies if they find any. Before you ask; yes, they also attack hostile mobs as well as players.

the current idea is a bit of a renaissance esque italian town, but as we haven't started building yet it's still all up in the air.

Our claim is a small island, split in two by a river, which should open up some very unique builds similar to that of Venice IRL.

I'm really looking forward to developing the island and seeing it take shape.

They're supposed to mostly just be area denial / meatshields. A good player will use them to stall the enemy, while stunning them with grenades (which temporarily give nausea / blindness / slow), and then finish them off with either guns, magic or any other weapon really.

It's survivial, and building towns / settlements is handled by Towny. The only currency there is is the one you make, so mostly just trade of raw materials.

As for lore, there are still the Order and Chaos factions and all their gods, but their backgrounds have been revised.

Yeah, but ideally for a good currency you want one that has no other uses of note besides trading for things, so people don't just hoard them and never want to buy anything because they can always use Emeralds themselves to get valuable stuff or craft useful things.

Some time ago the young dragon sought to claim the comfy yet functional halls of Armokia and the wealth they hold for himself. When he got there the blood god's warriors where not too fond of the idea so a great battle ensued. Both sides had so much fun fighting each other that after two straight days of conflict they agreed to a mutually beneficial treatise. In which the dragon would have a living quarters and a great deal of gold in exchange for keeping watch over the front of the keep. Now the juvenile drake stands guard as a powerful servant for Order and a tough adversary for any foolhardy enough to try to invade his domain.
