Question of the day: Does your flake co-operate with other planeswalkers? Are they even aware that other planeswalkers exist?

My flake sells bones and bone accessories.

He's a bit 'get off muh lawn' when it comes to his own plane though.

How hard would it be to discover another planeswalker anyway?
I thin the RU walker from Ravnica managed to easily find Jace and Gideon.... Probably even others given enough time.
>>
>>53515066
It's pretty easy for someone like Ral Zarek to notice Jace, because Jace is actually really bad at blending in.
>>
>>53515140
Ravnica is Jace's home though.
>>
>>53515229
No it's not. It's just where he happened to land after his memories got wiped.

He also insists on wearing his symbol everywhere he goes, and fails to blend in by making bad choices despite what he does know.
>>
I thought PWs could sense the sparks from some distance as well as when something enters/leaves the plane?
>>
>>53515262
Right, he originally came from Vryn.
But as you said he was mindwiped, and when he first landed on Ravnica he wasn't wearing his trademark blue cloak. Heck I don't think he had his weird blue tattoos either.

Those had to come from somewhere, and my bet would be his adopted home plane of Ravnica.
>>
>>53515834
Jace already has his tattoos on the flip side of his Origins card. And spell tattoos aren't really in any part of Ravnica's style barring Magemarks (which are much less intricate).

Jace's inability to blend in on Ravnica isn't really about his ignorance, since he's been there long enough to get the gist. He even knows how to lay low. The problem is that he sometimes just doesn't, so any planeswalkers around wouldn't have all that much trouble spotting him as out of place.

The planeswalker side of the flipwalkers represents what they're like roughly around BFZ.

See Liliana, Defiant Necromancer, as proof of this. She carries the demon pact on her skin which she only got centuries after her ignition and is that the Chain Veil at her side?
>>
>>53516232
Alright then assuming your right about Jace not blending in on Ravnica, then what about Gideon?
He's just some dude in armor till he pulls out this whip-sword thing. He doesn't stick out on any plane unless they don't have plate armor.
>>
>>53515066
That was a tracking experiment that the Izzet League was doing. They almost inadvertently discovered planeswalkers because their data would show that sometimes instances of people ceasing to exist and then reappearing would happen. Ral Zarek and Jace actually teamed up and tried to sabotage it so Niv-Mizzet wouldn't figure out that planeswalkers are a thing.

In the Dragon's Maze novel, Jace reads Ral Zarek's mind when they duel and finds out that he's a planeswalker, then stupidly tells Ral that he's also one.
>>
>>53517688
To quote:
>“You know as much as I do. The power behind the maze—it’s not for just anyone to wield.” >“That’s true,” said Ral with a grin. “It’s for me to wield.”
>So Zarek did believe there was something behind the maze, at that. The Izzet mage was hiding something, if only a deep antipathy for Jace. Jace reached into Zarek’s mind with his senses, feeling for an explanation, or at least a weakness he might exploit. What he found surprised him. It was not that Zarek’s mind was a storm of wild thoughts—that he expected. It was the other little fact: Zarek had seen worlds beyond Ravnica.
>“I am not your foe, Planeswalker,” said Jace. >“Oho! Another one like me, then, are you? You’ve heard tell of me on other worlds, I take it.”
>“I didn’t know until this moment. Your mind is open wide to me.”
>“In that case, you know I’m here to see you destroyed, fellow Planeswalker.”
>>

Nnno?

>Does your flake co-operate with other planeswalkers? Are they even aware that other planeswalkers exist?

Salum, Salina, and Tyral are aware of other planeswalkers, and would probably be willing to collaborate with them... in different ways, depending on who you're talking to. Karrok hasn't met another one, and neither has Costin.

He's a meta joke, but obviously Fuar Linn just wants to capture other planeswalkers and then make them fight.

nuCala doesn't cooperate with anybody. She's a wreck.

A dull roar. An almost sweet scent. Glass against teeth as the mug drained. Alcohol.

The viashino at the bar didn’t mind how sloppily it trickled down the edges of his mouth. He mostly didn’t care much for the bar chatter around him, either. He growled “another,” to the bartender and slapped down some additional coppers, coins that he had acquired just earlier by highway robbery.

An especially loud, drunken patron stumbled by and bumped into the back of Tyral’s barstool. With a quick sweep of the viashino’s tail, the man was face-down on the ground, cursing loudly. Groaning, he staggered uneasily to his feet.

“Didy… Didyoo trip me?” he started.

Noisy. Rude. Hurt. These are thoughts that registered consciously in Tyral’s mind only after he had already clutched his claw around the back of the man’s head, then bashed their skulls together, leaving him a heap on the floor.

The bar went quiet for a moment, though a few glasses were heard clinking as a few patrons were slow to realize what had happened. Giving his own actions no further thought, Tyral picked up his newly filled mug and resumed drinking. The bar was still quiet, but then some quiet muttering came from the back corner, from a handful of the local thugs.

“Big, bad scalie thinks he’s tough enough to do what he wants? I’d love to see him come over here and try that.”

Mug still in hand, Tyral stood up from the barstool. There was a blur of motion as he streaked across the bar to stand directly in front of the fellow who had just inadvertently challenged him. A moment later, everything else caught up, and some chairs, tables, and even patrons were thrown up and side in his wake. The thug could only look up from his seat, eyes wide in surprise as the viashino finished downing his drink and then threw his mug aside, destroying it on the nearby wall.

“Say that again, ‘fleshie?’”

The thug’s reply was only stammering, which only brought a hearty laugh. But it was not a forgiving laugh. A cracking of bone on wood silenced him as the went head down into his table. A typical follow-up, Tyral then proceeded to pick his pockets. He took all of the man’s coin and turned, throwing it to the bartender as payment for the damages. It was then that he noticed everyone else had drawn their weapons. And then he noticed that he also, had drawn his weapons. He bared his teeth in a smile and gave a roar before throwing himself into the fray, and the remaining bar patrons every which way.

Still outside of modern red color pie.

Maybe so, but it was worth printing three times through the game's history. The other two destruction possibilities are still within red's possibilities. There's also a nice drawback for having that much flexibility.

It was printed in Tempest. The reprint in Tempest Remastered was only because it was in Tempest, not because they liked it. Getting used in an online-only set isn't reprinting.
>>
>>53521866
>a nice drawback
what drawback? The card is might as well just read 2R/Sorcery/"Destroy target creature" with the option to also have it be a planeswalker if the board is clear.
>>
>>53522018
Was specifically referring to Aftershock itself. Paying 3 damage to your own face in exchange for "destroy one of these three things" could be worse in terms of balancing how many things it can do.
>>
>>53521445
This is a pretty darn sweet design, the self damage of the 0 makes it like a -3 but you can still overclock him and use it asap.

Let's try this again.

>Costin, the Ever-Frightful

The streets had quieted for the night. The lamps were dim, and as was the moonlight. A boy, a young teenager, pulled his hood down as low as it could go as he walked uneasily, shivering despite the fairly mild night. Seeking refuge, he turned down an alley and pushed his back up to the wall, then let his body sink to the ground. He glanced further down, and then back to the street and wondered quietly to himself, “Am I safe for now?”

Though he was safe, Costin was still uneasy. The wind picked up abruptly, and he was startled when the old building behind him creaked. As his eyes widened, the nearby street lamp flickered out, and his heartbeat began to pick up. It was happening again. Scrambling to his feet, he walked hurriedly out into the street. As he paced down the road, the lamps closest to him would flicker, tempting his fear with unsteady shadows.

Lost in his own head, Costin was trying not to look at the tricks his mind was playing, in addition to what it may have been actually doing. “No, no, no…” he whispered, “get a hold of yourself.” The lamps closest to the boy began to completely go out, darkening his way. Lost in his thoughts, he was completely startled when he bumped into someone.

“Hey, watch where you’re going,” said the late night pedestrian, as Costin’s eyes widened with the
realization that he had, for just that moment, lost control. The person continued: “Wait, you’re just a kid. What are you doing out here this la-” Their words were left hanging as the shadows of the streets morphed into terrifying shapes, and their mind rapidly and easily descended into fear. There was a scream as the visions only got worse, and the young lad fled from what he had unintentionally caused yet again. He ran as quickly as he could, wanting nothing more than to get away once more. And then he was gone from that place altogether. Where he had traveled to was a blur as the boy finally gave out from exhaustion and collapsed. Sleep took hold of him. His mind was finally quiet, for now.

Does this sound too strong for a planewalker's final ability?

>>

What.
>>
>>53525791
Tell me the lore of what the heck this artifact avatar is
>>
>>53525841
They're a Kaladesh mage.
I figured adding the artifact type would make it seem more fitting to the plane. And make the creation itself seem more.... experimental in nature.
>>
>>53525145
considering it's not repeatable, I'm sure you could make the -3 a Doom Blade or Go For the Throat, instead of both...
>>
>>53525914
Untested and experimental magic used by a Kaladesh mage unused to working with such materials. With more experimentation they can make full Avatars (and maybe spirits on special planes?).
>>
>>53526035
It's terror.
Also, see that purple rarity symbol? They're not interested in changing/improving the cards.
>>
>>53525963

>>
>>53526217
What's not to get?
They're using a framework of metal to give form to the avatar.
>>
>>53526364
What's it an avatar of.
>>
>>53526399
Oh!
I um... am not sure yet. People mentioned that the discard X cards from an opponent's library is not making sense so I'm being initially vague on that....
I suppose I'd say it could probably be classified as an avatar of battle? Maybe anger? Lost magic? There are a few ways one can fluff it.

Geists on Innistrad are numerous and in every color, but this isn't the case in the rest of the multiverse. Usually spirits are limited to White and Black.
Does that limit her type of magic on other planes? And what about planes that don't have that sort of thing (like Kaladesh)?

I'd assume she's not really interested in going to those places. As for geists outside innistrad, I'm guessing she's interested in dead spirits, not so much the black shades, although realistically I could make her 4 color. Her red comes from using artifacts/spells that require sacrifices, and blue from generally using her ghostly powers to paralyse and control opponents.
I'd say it's more how she uses them, not what their color identity actually is. She's just good at making ghosts work in the place of traditional spells.

As a primarily colorless player, I can't argue.

Also, kherto keeps a bunch of stax/tax artifacts on his person, so spellcraft is a lot harder around him. Closest he can do to casting is pulling a planebound into þe blind eternities, which is essentially a spacial contortion, but doing so competently and reliably is beyond his capacity.

Phyrexia is confined to Mirrodin unless you're talking about some glistening oil that somehow snuck out pre-mending.
Could stand to make her story a little clearer too. IImight be getting it wrong but it read like:

When did her spark ignite? I might be missing something obvious, if so sorry.
>>
>>53562675
I'm using Phyrexians on the basis that Elspeth saw them on an unknown non-phyrexia/new phyrexia plane herself.
I think that's enough to make the stretch in fancanon that 'they're out there' in some form.

>>53562675
Her spark ignited from the pride of achieving her schemes for keeping what she sees as a useful commodity. (Zombies)

She at first mistook her planeswalking for a shamanic vision, but quickly caught on she was actually physically transported.

The plane Elspeth saw them on is Elspeth's home plane, which is neither Dominaria nor Mirrodin. Or, obviously, Phyrexia.
There is a confirmed plane out there under Phyrexia's thumb, that we have know idea what it's called.

In all seriousness, he sounds a little more R than W, and typically the sign of a bad flake is they interact with established characters.
Just have him join the consortium as a way of developing his artifice, after meeting with agents of them on Mirrodan before it became NP.
>>
>>53568753
>Memnarch
>Planar Portal
There's literally no reason for him to be able to cast Memnarch other than 'oh he's explored mirrodin'. Legendary creatures require an intimate personal relationship, or you're just going to summon some rando artifact that kinda looks like Memnarch.
And planar portals are no longer kosher, unless it's the Kaladesh version and even then there was only one and it was a Big Deal
>Tezzeret

Interaction with canon characters is a big no no.

>>
Thanks for the feedback folks. Wasn't quite of the sympathy link needed for legendaries (Memnarch's a huge bomb in Doomsday Machine, so I thought I'd be remiss to not include him), but the other stuff I felt like I was a little out on a limb about, so I'll just go back to the drawing board on the story and dial some stuff back.

The idea is that he visits Mirrodin post Fifth Dawn, after the plane's unlocked. Doing that because Mirrodin's where I started seriously playing Magic and it's probably going to be my favorite plane for ever and ever.
>>

>>
>>53569210
Rule of thumb is 'do not include important canon characters/artifacts in your snowflake's backstory or in your snowflake's deck.'

Just include the basic cards that make Doomsday Machine work, you don't need to include every single card. Just like, nine or ten that define your character. That section is meant to be a collection of favored spells, not a deck list. So choose nine or ten cards out of the ones you've put on there and use them instead, and maybe choose three or four of the artifacts carried and use them too.

>tl;dr
Involving canon characters in your snowflake is bad.
You don't need to put an entire deck list in the favored spells section.

I actually made a card for this guy and the basic idea for him (Aven walker with gideon style indestructible and menace) just after Amonkhet was announced, around two Snowstorms ago, and was hoping that Amonkhet might fit with the kind of character ideas I was throwing around. Turns out, they worked great!

I think the answer is time spiral nonsense, but honestly I'd love to have Old Man Venser during all the New Phyrexia shit. It wouldn't have really changed much plotwise, and it gives a chance for some cool parallels with Urza.

>>

Same with me but from what I can gather:
>Rebels win
>Much rejoicing
>Dovinns like "ehh whatever"
>Oathwatch hears of bolas from tezzeret
>Want to go check out his shitty plane
>Ajani tells them their retarded and he ain't going
>They go anyway
>Gideon does his own thing for a while, meets a gay lover who is infatuated with the gods (dejru or something) and a beastly women who hates them (samut)
>Other four gatewatch being autistic/ADD/ocd like usual
>Gideon does the trials of the gods to see if he can get bolas to come
>See liking it at first but realizes people are insane and throwing their lives away
>Drops out after 4th trial
That's basically it so far, there was a good story a couple days ago about how ravnica is fucking up again cause jace "the shitty guildpact" hasn't returned for like 3 blocks (most of zendikar, shadows, kaladesh, and now amonkhet).

Someone correct me if I've missed details or just generally fucked up.
>>
>>53578197
I stopped reading Kaladesh because it got boring so I can't tell you about that.
For Amonkhet...
The GATEWATCH (TM) arrive in Super Bolas World and immediately get attacked by zombies and sandwurms and a zombie sandwurm. EVERYTHING IS DEAD oh wait there's a bigass city that isn't so they go there.
People there are all 20something at the oldest, most are teenagers, everybody is obsessed with being /fit/ as hell. The GATEWATCH (TM) durdles around for a bit trying to figure out how anyone can be happy in Super Bolas World.
Gideon finds religion, again, and falls for Cat Head.
Chandra wants to start another revolt because she's Chandra and that's her favorite hobby after setting things on fire.
Liliana tries to find one of her demons, gets caught snooping around.
Nissa gets mindfucked by Emrakul. Best story of the block, honestly.
Jace exists?
Then Gideon finds out that OH NO THE TRIALS ARE BAD because he gets thrown into Murder Simulator but everyone else in there was cool with it.
Also there's Samut who doesn't like how things are because everything they know is a lie. Her bestest bud is one of the people who Gideon was going through Murder Simulator with, believes super hard in the Gods and Trials and shit because he's a thickheaded shit, they had a friend who died when they left the city, said dead friend was a better character despite existing for half a story only.
Then the GATEWATCH (TM) decide to free all the dissenters but everyone gets caught anyways and have to fight the last trialgoers. Nissa can pick up and throw Jace, there's a lot of bickering and it's obvious it was written by multiple people due to how things jump around and then Djeru (the living bestest buddy) is deemed worthy but Gideon and Samut won't let that happen. Hazoret wails on Mr Invincible for a while before realizing that OH SHIT THE GOD-PHARAOH IS COMING GOTTA GO and end.

Aether Revolt:
>Consulate cracks down
>Renegades go full Rebel
>Tezzeret is being a Jackass to Rashmi to make her finish the Planar Portal faster
>Baral goads Chandra into being a big stupid baby and nearly gets killed
>Dovin Baan arrests Baral not for being evil, but because he didn't file the proper paperwork
>Liliana goes to kill Tezzert because fuck that guy
>At the same time Rebels attack the citadel or whatever
>Liliana is about to kill Tezzeret
>Tezz says something about Amonkhet
>Chandra straps herself into a rocket to blow up the Planar Bridge and Gideon hops in to be cushioning made of abs, pecs, and friendship
>Rocket crashes into bridge, destroys the portal and allows Tezzeret to planeswalk away before Liliana can kill him
>The War is over! The Consulate purges the assholes and recruits people like Chandra's mom
>Amani joins the Gatewatch
>Liliana reveals Bolas is behind the entire thing, and is on Amonkhet
>Ajani says "Guys, give me two days and we'll bring together an army of Planeswalkers to fight Bolas"

>They hear somebody shouting The Trials are a Lie, the Gods have been brainwashed, Jet fuel can't melt steel beams
>Are told not to worry about it
>Gideon wants to hang out with his Cat Waifu, who knows his real name
>Chandra and Nissa go exploring, find out there used to be 8 Gods
>Nissa goes full Vulcan and mind melds with Amonkhet
>Turns out Bolas showed up 60 years ago, raped the plane into being on life support and then brainwashed her kids
>After slaughtering all of the adults, Bolas turned Amonkhet into Hunger Games, Egypt edition
>She tries to tell Gods, but he's too into his new Waifu
>Gideon starts the trials
>Jace and Liliana find out the zombies are controlled by Cartouches then run away
>Nissa finds out the Gods are bundled Leylines, pulls the Crane God's strings to make him let her go, thus gaining Blue Mana

Honestly I wouldn't mind the Gatewatch story line if we just got a proper introduction to the plane.
Either go back to releasing three sets, or just throw up some information online. That way we get to see more outside of what's important to the story, and the planes could see a lot bigger.
Might not help with Amonkhet seeing as how it is stuck as just being one city; but Kaladesh was more than just The Inventor's Fair.

nah it's cool still. It's just that no one is making them because we're all pieces of shit who never produce any actual content.

Regarding the planeswalker, there's no coherent theme. He just has three effects that fill out his colors. Also, we can't really give an accurate interpretation of its power level without a CMC/casting cost.

My first attempt at a snowflake, an energy-happy artificer with a tendency to leap before she looks and a desire to improve.

She might be a bit generic (Especially with the favored spells). I tried to keep it to mostly spells she could have reasonably learned in her limited plane jumping experience (Since she's only barely visited anywhere but Kaladesh). Hope she's not too terrible.

She also ended up a bit generic as energy support is only a single block thing and rather limited if you want to do control.

Hroth is widely enjoyed.

Petra gets lots of commentary, positive or negative.

Celuel is Gaia 2.0 so something needs to be done about her.

Just a few ideas. It's your decision though.

Stax, and Kherto, are never really powerful on each's own. What passes for power by stax's metric is based entirely on how crippled opponents are by resource denial. It all depends on how big, and how crucial, what it's hosing is.

>>53588051
Depending on what it actually /does/ since artifacts' designs aren't set in stone, it isn't impossible to have a miniature version. E.g., a knowledge pool as big as a frisbee, since its size has no bearing on its magical effect. If you want, like, an assault suit ot gearhulk, adversely, you may want to make it a spell.

>Rakdos Bloodwitch lives a home life
Why is that odd? The Rakdos don't seem like the type to have ample living space available unlike other guilds.
>>
>>53592332
The witches rank at the very top of the Guild, basically acting as Guildmasters while Rakdos sleeps or just otherwise fucks off and doesn't wan to do anything. Also, given what they are and their station, they tend to be the most sadistic people you'll find just about anywhere. They also constantly compete with and try to get in each others' way to be top dog in Rakdos' eyes.

So to me, it's pretty hard to imagine one making themselves that vulnerable going through pregnancy, and also pretty stupid to try to have a home life.

She basically rose to prominence with people OUTSIDE the guild during that nice in-between when Rakdos was asleep between Ravnica and Return to Ravnica, when the guild is actually pretty lax about guild stuff.
Remember, the cult doesn't go full Rape and kill for fun except when the demon is awake. Then they lose their minds.

Also I picked Ravnica because the options for artifice planes outside of it are very limited. I think we currently have Kaladesh as the only representative that doesn't need to be removed from the multiverse.

I admittedly don't know much about Mizzium, but there has to be ways to manipulate and use it because fucking everything colored bronze on every Izzet card is made of Mizzium.
Also, I think you're talking about darksteel

As for the blue, I disagree. Her artifice is very impulsize, a sort of "wake up and put shit together" sort of style that happens to work because she's good at it. It's a red style of artifice. She doesn't study, nor does she really stop and think about what she's doing.
That and she's motivated by a quest for enough power to keep Rakdos asleep even if they have to punch him out everytime he wakes up.

>Both of monogreen's planeswalkers fucked off to go multi-color.
It's actually kind of funny. Poor luddite color. It's basically impossible though without going to a not!buddhist plane with a character who just goes "Free your mind to what is" like a not-robotic Zenyatta

To be fair, a Rakdos Bloodwitch not putting enough effort into her performance in order to keep Rakdos sated due to her having a husband and a child worrying about? That's more than enough reason to be fucking eaten by Rakdos.

>The Cult, basically being Ravnica's entertainment industry calms down and normalizes so that Ravnica can enjoy basically Ravnican Hollywood again
>Rakdos wakes up, the crazies fucking lose it and the "normie" entertainment gets purged as the guild goes full crazy until Rakdos falls asleep again.
>Continue ad nauseam.
This shit probably happens to the cult all the time. Mom just picked a bad time to have a kid and a normal life.
>>
>>53593283
I'd have thought that making it more science-y by making the walker a geologist would have made it seem more Blue.
>>
>>53594785
Blue basically just doesn't manipulate rocks. It's not in its color wheel. White and red are the primary earth and rock moving colors, hence why anon pointed at Awaken.
>>
>>53594828
Since we're here, what's the flavor/lore of what the moonfolk do when they bounce a land?
>>
>>53594828
Dang it, the only Blue/White magic that really sticks out to me is the Azorius from Ravnica with all the law mages. Can't do that on Esper.
>>
>>53594942
If you're from Esper, there's pretty much a 95% chance that you want to be the artifact guy anyway. That's really all Esper had before Bolas Cornflux'd the plane.

>>53594888
Typically bouncing a land isn't actually doing anything to the land itself, so much as it's disconnecting your mana bond to the land, leaving you to sort of flounder and try and reconnect it.
>>
>>53594982
I was still planning on them relying on artifacts, but less on etherium.
Right I wanted them to be more like a geologist, studying the different types of magical rocks, mana structures and so on.
>>
>>53594982
>>53594888
If I have to take a guess, it's shrouding the land in fog and mist as a byproduct of their magic or perhaps in order to fuel their magic. Playing the land again is clearing the mist/fog/clouds.
>>
>>53595198
>magical rocks
Red. For man-made magical rocks, white.

Having a geologist on Esper isn't at all out of the question, since they'd be surveying the land to strip mine it further.

At that point, you get to do all sorts of fun stuff with eroding the rocks with Blue and then using White to manipulate it further. Though, to be fair, Blue/White usually reads "Master of the skies" to me more than it does the mover of the earth.
>>
>>53595793
So you are saying that I should add either red or green to this character and they're make more sense?

>>53595815
The Azorius are too good at what they do.
>>
>>53595815
>>53595198
I'd stick to two or three blue cards about artifacts, two or three white cards about artifacts and then a whole bunch of gem/stone-themed artifacts.

Suggestions:
>Chromatic Star
>Cumber Stone
>Darksteel Ingot
>Dreamstone Hedron
>Fellwar Stone
>Khalni Gem
>Magewright's Stone
>Meteorite
>Oblivion Stone
>Pentad Prism
>Thorn of Amethyst
>Thrumming Stone
>>
>>53596309

Red is typically associated with the Earth in a way the other colors aren't. There are a ton of miners in red, tunneling creatures are typically red, etc. Red makes the most sense for a geologist type character. How you fit that into Esper, I have no clue. I mean, if the character's Spark Ignites before the Conflux, then you can say they did a good job at keeping their use of red mana (which would have to come from Mana Bonds on other planes) hidden, or something.
>>
>>53592037
Ashlyn's more about killing something and drinking its blood.
(there was that time with the sangrite crystals but that was a cult thing)

>>53587550
I'd like to see one that focuses on green's stubbornness and resistance to change.
>>
>>53596618
The best way to do an alara character is they don't quite have the "correct" tendencies for the plane, and once the conflux happens or they planeswalk then that part of their character blossoms.

Like, they won't have red mana or red magic while on esper, but just a bit more of emotion and passion than is comfortable existing there. That will manifest as a red color identity once they aren't cut off from it.
>>
>>53509353
How interested would anyone here be in an RPG for Magic that allows you to use (most of) the cards as you would normally? I've had a few years playing with the idea, but only recently got serious with it.
>>
>>53596626
>I'd like to see one that focuses on green's stubbornness and resistance to change.

I can see somebody like that helping the Gatewatch when it comes to real extraplanar threats, like the Eldrazi, but would not want to be involved in a conflict like Kaladesh. It's true that the Gatewatch got involved because of Tezzeret, but he mostly just exacerbated the problems that were on the plane rather than being the cause of them.
>>
>>53596618
Green is at its best when it's more than just muh plants and trees.
>>
>>53596618
Red only cares about rocks when it's dealing with things like mountains. Or mimicking volcanoes by making magma or lava.

White has Lithomancy as well as all those Abzan/Dromoka sand-mages.
>>
>>53596728

I like him. He can be both hero and villain without a change to his actions or ideals.
>>
>>53596909

I still think UR makes the best sense for geology. Lithomancy is practiced exclusively on Zendikar, and you really wouldn't call a sandmage to help you properly document the layers of a sedimentary rock. Red and Blue make the best combo for understanding geology, Red's naturally ability to manipulate it plus Blue's urge to understand makes them the natural color combo.

Of course the only character we've seen who really gives a damn about the geology of a plane in any significant way is Nahiri, when she was exploring Zendikar after Liliana blew up the Helvault.

So, there you go.
>>
>>53594942
Blue and white care about the proliferation and preservation of the way things should be, for the benefit of everyone. This can be anything from being super-anal about the law, to dedication to the concept of civilization, to shaping and sculpting the land as you desire to whatever the fuck you like. The key aspect is control. As long as your character is devoted to controlling whatever they're built around, it's pretty easy to make them white and blue.
>>
>>53596909
Red cares a lot about rocks and stone. It's just that those spells are typically affected by the number of mountains you have because mountains are typically good sources of rocks. See cards like Torrent of Stone and Jaws of Stone and every card with "boulder" in its name
>>
>>53591765
What would a good RBW planeswalker be like? Are the actual Mardu a good representation? They valued community but only in the act of self preservation and desire to rule Tarkir. I'm thinking I could've made Orlov Mardu colored
>>
>>53599862

A mafia family (That actually believes in the family part) wouldn't be a bad representation. Community, Ambition and a violent disrespect for the law.
>>
>>53599941
Okay, I see. I always thought of the mafia organizations like Orzhov, but with how forward they can be with violence the red does make sense
>>
>>53599862 >>53599941
The problem is that the Mardu (and the Mafia family example) is that they're organizations. It' easy to say that the Mardu are RWB and overlook the fact that individually there are some Mardu who are RB, WB, or just plain White, Red, or Black.
>>
>>53599862
If you're talking about "good" as in morally good, then I'd probably say that the idealistic principles of the USA are RWB.
It's a nation like any other but there's a massive amount of focus put on the right of a man to forge his own path and shape his own destiny, that no man allow himself to be restrained in body or in spirit and that anything can be accomplished through blood, sweat, tears and ambition. No one has the right to restrain your passion or hold you back, the only boundary keeping you from what you want is yourself. So go and achieve greatness in the land of opportunity.
A land where you're meant to be free to do as you please, free to achieve as much as you wish as long as it does not hinder the collective whole. Through pursuing personal success, you will bring the rest of the nation with you to greatness as well. A nation where ambition is rewarded and freedom is paramount.
>>
>>53596696
I already have a group I play with where we do that. 30 card decks, mana p/t is determined by the stats you have, casting a card (spell or creature) as a utility makes it start in exile until they rest again.
It's been bretty good so far desu, although there is a bit of powergaming behind the scenes.

I like applying black's paranoia to RW's sense of justice.
Black just doesn't understand morality and limiting yourself like that. It assumes people aren't stupid and will do anything they can to get what they want. Because that's what black itself would do, and it's obviously the best way to go about things. Black is the most likely to sleep with a knife under its pillow, because it expects others to be like it.
Red and white gets strong senses of retribution, justice, and payback.
So with black added, you can get some nice "preemptive retribution" going

Everyone's out to get you and looking out for themselves. You'll get them first though, and punish them for what they're going to do.

I'd always felt red/green was the whole gruul savage angle, but hey it looks neat. All the colour combos have a fair bit of room for them.

It's just WOTC tends to keep it's stuff within set lines to make sure that decks of those colours are easier to build (So red/green is almost always big stompy creatures). Which makes sense from their perspective.

We run ours based off this, except instead of spell slots, etc. we have the mana cost for cards, and essentially 'play' a game with them. Usually they're things like short, 3 round encounters, but boss battles or other walker fights can run for upwards of 45 minutes.

I'd also like to say, this page is a great source of information for flake building.

This is a character I had in a campaign twice, once before he ascended as a main character, and once afterwards, though more as an NPC than an actual character.

We didn't want to step on the toes of established lore, so we spent a while building up "Iblis" as a custom plane we could run our campaign in, but by the second campaign we didn't care as much about that anymore, and the characters walked from Ravnica to Innistrad a few times. At that time Ravask was living in Ravnica, where he was attempting to fit in with the Rakdos, though their overly violent antics didn't much suit him.

I tried to make him different then the typical black or red character, in that he doesn't embody red's violence, but its desire for adventure and need for new experiences. The black side of him lies in the fact that he will never aid anyone without first entering into a pact, one that usually has a steep downside.

At his best he is curious and understanding, at his worst he is spiteful and cruel.

Dominaria, actually. Portal Second Age took place on the island of Caliman, where you had the human kingdom Alaborn, the Nightstalker lands Dakmor, and the forest of Norwood. Alaborn had guns, which really aren't that out of place, but Wizards seems to think so, so we'll never see them again unless we get magic guns or something on a Wild West plane.

That actually might be kick ass, Magic guns that are loaded with different shells each containing a different spell or something.

Wait, I got it. He was born in Madara from the Umezawa family which was reduced to servants for the Nekoru, and had heard legendary tales of their family's founder, Toshiro Umezawa. While he's a young kid, just barely learning the art of the sword in secrecy, the Nekoru find out that members of the Umezawa family is going to make a play for power and displace the Cat Dragons in charge. Your Flake's family is thrown under the bus, and they have to escape Madara by boat. Massive storm, etc, and your flake is the only survivor and washes up on the shores of Caliman, taken in by a family in Alaborn and learns Marksmanship. All this happens when they are about 10, maybe 12, so they'll grow up mostly in their adopted culture but remember their young childhood and stories from it.

Eventually, life and death experience and the thing on their mind as they face death is going to the land Toshiro came from, BAM Spark Ignites and they are in Kamigawa.

>>53624044
I don't know what you mean. Honestly, he's not meant to be a 'secret' Eldrazi or something, it's just that he actually was wounded, both physically and magically, by an Eldrazi drone, and it's influenced his spellcasting.
>>
>>53624094
Right, so he's got Eldrazi stuff in him. Most people who get smacked by an Eldrazi just sorta lose limbs, or their connection to magic, they don't become more powerful/learn some cool eldrazi mana-draining magic as a result.
Also seems like it'd be really hard for him to draw on mana.

This card should either be an enchantment or expire at end of turn.

Looks good to me, 2 extra blue to remove Merchant scroll's color limitation seems fair enough, and it costing less for knowledge accrued makes more sense to me. If you're ready for a maze's conclusion, I would assume you're more likely to have a full head instead of an emptied one.

Consider putting some timing on it, so it goes away EOT or has a reminder it lasts indefinitely.
