And because it just popped up, a PSA:
Faction Focus: Space Marines:

Someone else can make a separate thread for that, I guess.

I kid you not I feel like shit.

I spent hours of my life designing the color scheme and organization

I even bought deathwatch pauldrons en masse that had the logo of the chapter
>>
>>53493109

It looks like most of the size differences are in the torso and legs, so you could probably keep using most of those bits.

Unfortunately I doubt GW is going to just sell those separately, so I'd image we'd need to wait for recasters to get easy access to spare torso and leg bits.
>>
>>53493109
>invested

An investment is something you can reasonably expect to pay back it's value. Your manlet marines are literally worthless, you wasted, you didn't invest.
>>
>>53493023
This was confirmed when it was revealed they could turn existing marine characters into Primaris.
>>
>>53493192

Only heads and shoulderpads are compatible

I also always wanted truescale marines, and tried to make the captains stand out more than average in height

FUCK
U
C
K

I wouldnt mind making the chapter all Primaris but I could have waited some time before throwig all that money into the trash.
>>
>>53493181
Sell them now before all the manlet players start flooding the market with manlet marines
>>
>>53493217
>you can reasonably expect to pay back it's value
What if they pay back their value in fun?
>>
>>53493243

I got that already

But FUCK I could have waited a bit.

Primaris are what I always wanted save for the retarded flying units, and I bet they'll get tons and tons of upgrade / sidegrade parts and pieces.

They already have text decals so you dont have to fuck up with the brush
>>
>>53492743
You know you could have just made a salamanders successor chapter with a different color scheme, yes? Like... the black templar aren't yellow and also have no fist iconography, yet are still imperial fist successors.

How do primaris marines help you at all?
>>
>>53493109
>not adding spacers to the legs and waist to make them slightly shorter than primaries marines

Don't be a bitch and do it, you know you wanted to give them the old true-scaling; now you're basically forced to do it.
>>
>>53492390
So does this mean you can have a Space wolf Successor chapter that doesn't recruit from Fenris?
>>
>>53493340
Sure, they are slightly more stable, with almost pure geneseed.

Fun is a meme.
>>
>>53493109
The 'manlet' marines are still viable and canon. In fact early plays of the leaked rules suggest they're better than Primaris, the 10 per unit making a big difference to the Primaris' 5 for roughly similar costs.

Most chapters have no Primaris anyway. If you're going to throw an army you putthat much effort into out over memes you're retarded.
>>
>>53493109
Shit man I almost feel sorry for you... sell them
>>
>>53493392
>Most chapters have no Primaris anyway
What.
The only chapter that we know doesn't use them are the Lamenters.
Because they can't not suffer.
>>
Who here /indifferent/? i won't be buying any Nu-marines, though they do look quite nice.

As a CSM player we barely use any power armour anyway, i can live with my Havocs being manlet marines, our Heroes are already 'large'

As Ork/GSC player fuck 'em they will all die the same in glorious CC and they will look good next to Guard/traitors
>>
>>53493404
>>53493392

I guess I'll paint them and make scaled "displays" for them as if they were just old SM armors of past captains on display on the chapter's halls.
>>
>>53493429
Paint them grey and use them as statues
>>
>>53493429
Just use your normal marine army faggot.

Genetic engineering can't beat experience and loyalty to the emperor. Think of it as progression for the manlet marines; they're old and dated but still in the game. It ain't the size of the dog in the fight but the fight in the dog.
>>
>>53493476

Yes but I like the nu-marines and so far I only have five captains, one 10 man tactical unit with meltas and one sternguard veteran.

And tons of bits for customizing manlet marines.
>>
>>53493476
>t. guardsman
>>
>>53492600

The Space Sharks are officially of Raven Guard terran stock but its heavily implied that they scavenge whatever geneseed they could find so some have world eater and night lord gene seed.

The Minotaurs are heavily implied to have weird gene seed, possibly an iron warrior mix

Blood Ravens as Thousand Sons are heavily implied but i really dont see what combat doctrine would make them so. Unless wanting relics and reading are somehow strong pieces of evidence.

I find it telling that neither the raven guard or space wolves are on that list. Probably there will be a super arch conservative marine faction.

We might see some, but GW doesn't like pissing off the fanbase by just looking up old Chapters and killing them off immediately. We might see some newly invented Chapters get offhanded mentioned as wiped out, or just the vague suggestion that they've been destroyed.

Pretty much, it's up to you and your dudes to determine who's been killed off. It also mentions that some newly-created Primaris Chapters will be inheriting the dead Fortress Monasteries of those Chapters who are lost or have died, so it's possible new Chapters have taken up the steads of dead ones, or even that dead Chapters have been resurrected entirely as the new Primaris inherit their old heraldry and traditions as their own.

Originally they were a shitty non-canon chapter, but since then they've been canonised and gotten quite a lot of attention from GW, with forgeworld making a horrendous Gabriel model ATM. The Horus heresy quote basically confirmed it, as people were already speculating it when the book was released.

New Marines got made in secret on Mars.

They're being doled out to 1st Founding Chapters that have suffered during the 13th Black Crusade and others (your dudes) that have endured a lot of hard fighting, or made into new Chapters wholesale and given either the heraldry of Chapters that have died out during the intense fighting, or made into new Chapters altogether.

As it goes, they are not a replacement for Space Marine Classicâ„¢, but new, more elite unit altogether. Although I suspect they'll slowly creep into being the dominant Space Marine in an edition or two.

They've stated that Primaris implantation is just the addition of three extra geneseed organs, and that the process can be carried out on existing marines.

"Ancients" are Primaris that were made from existing, veteran marines and probably those who have already had a long career of combat.

They could just release a Chaos Chosen kit that's in-line size-wise with primarines and just say it's warp magic.

Would be pretty great if we had more Generation Kill marines. I'd honestly say that if any marines would act that way, it'd probably be Scouts, since they have yet to finish their indoctrination, training, and implantation. One would think that Primaris got their full indoctrination before they shipped out; you can't have them going rogue on the new battlefields right out of the gate.

Alternatively, since a whole lot of marines from the Horus Heresy didn't have the same level of discipline and indoctrination as their Codex Astartes descendents, they might have acted in a similar matter in the lower ranks (especially those chapters taken from Terra's stock), which means old Rogue Trader marines might well have existed just after the Horus Heresy, replete with period-era weaponry.

You could always just ignore the primaris marines.
Or get a few, convert them to be sergeants and captains and shit.
Or use them for something else and keep your regular dudes normal, like use the primaris for a second allied group or something.
Or if you're REALLY crazy, truescale all your current dudes and now the big difference is the official ones have slightly fancier guns.

Scouts are fully indoctrinated by the time they become scouts. A scout is basically a full blown marine waiting to be inaugurated to be a battle brother.

They seem comparable to terminators, although terminators are a slightly different role.

With the new detachments, the fact that terminators are elites is less of an issue, because you can choose a detachment with more elite slots and fewer other slots.

We don't know the costs for sternguard or deathwatch yet, but would guess that they would be somewhere in between regular and primaris.

According to the Blood Angel leaks, the Predator Autocannon fires 2 blasts now(d3 each) and deals a flat 3 damage per unsaved wound. It's bigger and more brutal than "chad" guns, chadmarines are literally dicklets.

Tankers > chads every time
>>
>>53492600
It's implied some of the ultramarine 2nd founding "successors" were actually loyalists units from traitor legions who claim Ultramarine parentage so as not to arouse suspicion.
>>
>>53503551
Makes me wonder what standard Autocannon will do. Hoping they deal d3 wounds per hit.

I've been interested in 40k for a long time. Even played a game or two in past editions. Now with the Primaris Marines I'm thinking about getting on board, probably splitting the starter box with someone who wants the Nurgle guys.

The question is: what chapter do I go with? Since I have no clue how to paint, I guess my preference would be for whichever chapter is the easiest to paint?
>>
>>53492600
The official answer is "no, all traitor gene-seed was disposed of"

The in-universe truth is "yes, not all the gene-seed was destroyed"
>>
>>53504061
>The official answer is "no, all traitor gene-seed was disposed of"
The official line in the Imperium is "Traitors? What traitors?"

just take their template and apply it as a multiply layer over your color layer. GIMP, firealpaca, or anything else should be able to do this if you can't afford or don't want to pirate photoshop.

Iron Hands look so much better with silver trim the majority of artwork uses. I wish they'd stick with that.

>tfw all bionic bits are now out of scale and there's no how-to's for making good DiY bionics
>>
>>53497391
I'm in the middle of making a Rogue Trader (using Inquisition rules) army based on my groups old RT campaign. I had been planning to ally space marines in to represent the contingent of Storm Wardens we got saddled with for a bit.

With Calixis going tits up I'm gonna need to rethink my fluff. But I have a feeling Primaris Storm Warden survivors will be a part of it.
>>
>>53504083
that too.
>>
I already got too deep with my space marine army and I'm going to keep them as being space marine traditionalists that reject the Primaris marines.

But I want Primaris, so I'm just making a new chapter for them.

Just poke around with plastic rod and guitar wire.

Don't have any pictures for proof but I managed to make some really nice looking bionics out of mostly guitar wire and random bits back in the early 2000's.

Here's a pretty nice example from Google.

What would /mlp/ look like?
>>
>>53500460
>3 additional organs
Considering how fuckhuge they are, at least 1 organ is a tertiary heart in the abdomen to maintain consistent bloodflow. The other 2 probably help supplement traditional Space Marine weaknesses; likely a float bladder filled with naturally-occuring hydrogen to help lessen the impact of Primaris Marines on staircases and help them swim if they ever fall in water, and a penis to help them breed more genetically-compatible humans to decrease the chance of gene-seed rejection.
>>
>>53502434
Still a mad manlet marine player eh?
>>

Truly they are unstoppable now.
>>

what is the canon height of the dlc marines anyway?
>>
>Crimson Fists getting Tall Boyz

Shit will the Rynnstar system finally be reclaimed? Will Pedro "Orkfister" Kantor become a Tall Boy?

God I'm excited.
>>
>>53505858
Considering the average Marine is 10 ft tall? The Primaris are like 14 ft tall.
>>
>>53506021
They're fucking 7-8 feet, not 10.
>>
>>53506021
the average marine is not 10 feet tall and there is not a 4 foot different between manlets and chads. are you a retard?
>>
>>53505858

6' 1"
>>
>>53506021
Nigga, 10feet is primarchlet territory. Space Marines are 8 feet.
>>
>>53505251
that, horribly enough, looks pretty good really. Then again I'm a sucker for primarily white color schemes.
>>
>Chadmarines are bigger in the lore
>Models are sized to be "truescale" marines
>Chadmarines are now truescale standard marines but not actually truescale chadmarines
Actual truescale chads when, (((GW)))?

I'm assuming heavy bolters are going to be much cheaper than grav, like to the point where two units of devastators with heavy bolters would cost as much as one with grav.

you can still use the same pads you dickhead

they're here already.
regular marines were already truescale.

its the current guardsmen minis that are wrongly scaled

Just a quick concept.
>>
>>53504041
Gray, blue, green, and purple tend to be easier to paint, imo. Easier to shade and highlight, somehow.

But be brave! Find a chapter whose story you like, never mind the color. Read up on the first founding legions and their successors.

>>53503585
Dmg. 2 from what I've seen.
