40k 8th ed: Rule Question

It does depend on how current they mean by current though. And any really specialist stuff from forgeworld (especially xenos) is going to be left in the dust.
Space marines are probably going to be safe, although you might have to use the standard weapons.

Is that not the one with the power sword and the power fist with a gun on it? Just run him as the new Chadmarine captain, he has that exact same armour. Just raise him on his base a bit to get the height right or extend his legs.

You'll be able to use him as a normal termie captain. Dont expect new special rules.

Pretty much what I figured, and that's why I'm worried. Blood Angel troop choices tended to suck dick in general but this guy was actually a fun run.
I really don't want to go back to Tactical marines in Las/Plas Razorbacks or CCW Scouts who get wiped before they're able to charge.

They said that every single model currently available on their site and on Forge World will have full rules at launch, so you don't have much to worry about other than the new rules making them shit which seems unlikely.

He's talking about a limited edition promotional model though. I wouldn't expect special rules for it. He'll probably just need to run it as a standard boltstorm gauntlet.

GW is going to release free PDFs for every army on the day 8th edition hits supposedly.

I imagine some will slip through the cracks though, like pic related

PDFs for everything is still rumour at this point.
GW so far has only stated that the core rules will be free.
