Get past the hellhounds and reach the other end!
You can move once and shoot once on your turn. Your marines (blue m) have range 2, but they can only fire upwards, and move 1 tile to adjacent squares but not diagonals.
>>53439764
marine from d1 to d2
>>53439784
>marine from d1 to d2
a hellhound moves from b7 to a6
>>53439764
And how do the hellhounds move and attack?
>>53439764
>no rules on what hellhounds can do
I'm good thanks
>>53439805
>Implying the dm has to show monster stats to the player.
Rock falls from space, the marines die.
Thank you for playing.
>>53439764
Do you have to get both marines to the end?
>>53439804
They can move any 1 square around them, so adjacent plus diagonals. Their range is melee so they have to take you on the same square you occupy.
>>53439860
only one
>>53439901
d2, c2
>>53439926
>marine from d2 to c2
a hellhound moves from f7 to e6
>>53439901
Marines can't lose unless they intentionally step into 1 away from more than 1 dog at the same time (since he can just shoot one dog).
>>53439945
e1, e2
I'll probably stop if no one else bites on this thread.
>>53439956
>but they can only fire upwards
derrrrrrp
>>53439960
take that back, e1, f1
>>53439956
this, marines will slaughter all if they are stupid enough to try and get in their way. that 2 range and that they can always step back makes this quite stupid.
>>53439992
c2, b2
>>53439970
>>53439956
The loss condition for a marine is to have the dog 2 away diagonally (without the other marine covering). The marine can't do anything in that situation that isn't just prolonging his death.
>>53439970
Because the HH can move on diagonals and the marines cannot, there is a good possibility the marines will lose.
R2, D2
>>53439992
Did thread die already?
>>53440056
I just called c2, b2. I'm not calling another one until someone else calls one though, because having a thread with one other person is gaaay.
>>53440056
c2 to b3
shoot that bitch up
>>53440067
Ah ok. Let me update then.
>>53440069
You have no units on c2
>>53440084
b2 - b3
still up on shooting the thing
>>53440093
Your marine shoots down a hellhound! It screams in agony, reduced to a pool of blood.
>>53440107
Nice shot, faggot. e2, e3
>>53440116
You are in danger of being flanked!

e3, d3 bang

b3, b4. It's a good day to die.

illegal move
>>53440211
lol nvm ok d3 to d4
your marine got raped to death by a hellhound
>>53440228
>>53440195
Noice, you fugged it. Correct play was b4, c4 bang, sac the one marine and run to the edge of the board.
RIP
>>53440242
Yep, I don't see you guys winning now. It's game over. You lose?
>>53440283
Not unless we can revert our save-state.
>>53440299
Well I can allow a new game, was it balanced enough? Thinking of adding more units
>>53440332
I don't know. The line of play I had in mind would have worked if it weren't for meddling anon. I think the complicating play would have been if c6 moved back instead of f3, e3. Or is backing off against hellhound protocol?
>>53440355
You can back away if you want, obviously you win if you kill all the hellhounds. The big problem is that you can only fire forward so flanking is a bitch
>>53440242
>Implying I wanted Imperial scum to win.
>>53440363
Was lurking.
Firing upwards means you can only shoot ^ and not sideways? Not a native english speaker
>>53440363
Sorry, I'm saying it would have been better play for the hellhound player to back off at c6 instead of moving closer on the flank. I was just wondering if that was against the rules for a hellhound to run away.
>>53440382
yes
>>53440386
No hellhounds can move however they want. They l
>>53440396
They have to move to.
>>53440388
a fun sounding upgrade would be to have 1 marine with bolter "m" and other with stalker bolter "M". "M" can shoot sideways and down, but can't target hellhounds closer than 2 squares.
What do you think?
>>53440332
I think as-is the game favors marines given good play by both sides. It's also a bit too simple as it stands, so adding more pieces might be a good idea if you want to develop this.
>>53440424
hmm.
>>53440456
yeah thats true, though there are rules which did not come to play yet.
Ok new Units
Stalker,
Ravager.
>>53440574
>AoE
What does that mean here?
>>53440598
It means it hits both the two tiles in its range.
>>53440603
Can players shoot through their own pieces? Also, does the piece that moved have to be the piece that shoots? Can you shoot then move?
e1, e2
>>53440667
Can the Ravager also take by going into an enemy space?
Also, I'd like to say beforehand that this setup seems even more favorable to the marines than the first game.
Anyway, still sticking with e1, e2
>>53440685
No. Only melee units can do that.
>>53440730
f1,f2
>>53440228
That brother took the knot.
>>53440790
f2, f3
>>53440828
That's e2,e3 you just played, not f2,f3. Take back red's move if it makes a difference to you.
Next move is d1, d2 either way.
>>53440867
d2, d3
>>53440888
d3,c3. Nice digits.
>>53440911
c1, c2
>>53440951
c3,c4
>>53441025
c2, c3
>>53439822
>implying I can't make a knowledge check
>>53441090
c4, b4
Not the player anon
I'm afraid this is going to be a stalemate because of bullshit Stalker firing range and how Ravager can only move diagonally
>>53441099
I think the "AI" fucked up kek
>>53441125
Well we will have to rebalance the rules then
>>53441127
c3, c4 doggo ded
>>53441125
>>53441138
I still think this game favors marines, but we'll see.
>>53441158
Marine killed hellhound,
Ravager killed marine
>>53441243
damn placed R incorrectly sorry abouyt that.
>>53441243
Nice legal move you got there.
>>53441263
>>53441259
yeah misplaced
>>53441274
b4, c4 shoot
>>53441345
e2, e3
>>53441345
c4, c5
>>53441362
>>53441365
>a challenger appears
>>53441386
that's c4, d4, not c4, c5. Also, someone called a move before me.
>>53441386
wrong stalker move, it was c5, not d4
>>53441405
>>53441411
>>53441405
sorry
ok did both the moves, in order
>>53441434
I don't mind in this case, but usually when doing these kinds of threads, two different orders getting called for the same move means that the second one gets thrown out. Also, red should have another move now.
>>53441434
f3, f4
>>53441456
yeah but i messed it up, next time tho
>>53441471
>>53441481
Considering buffing hellhounds to 2 moves per tile or reducing ravager cost to 30. Hellhound cost is actually 10, so its a misprint
>>53441481
It can be any piece that can get to the end, right?
>>53441502
Yeah
>>53441481
is moving the c5 stalker to the other side a blue victory or does a marine have to survive?
>>53441481
>>53441508
In that case,
c5, c6
c6, c7
c7, c8
All of the hellhounds are out of range.
>>53441530
Yeah, so far. I haven't made any other rules than that.
>>53441537
correct.
victory to team blue lol
>>53441537
>>53441530
So you agree humans have advantage?
>>53441493
>>53441537
>>53441547
>>53441566
Thanks for the game.
Yep, I feel like they had the advantage in the original game and they have an even bigger advantage in v2 because you gave them two pieces while red only got one, so the material ratio was diminished. In addition, hellhounds can keep the stalker from advancing, but they can't actually kill it, while the stalkers make flanking marines difficult. The ravager can manage one marine/stalker set with the help of hellhounds, but there are two. If you hadn't decided to trade on the left and instead just held it at stalemate, I would have started advancing safely up the right.
Two spaces for hellhounds is an interesting idea, though I suspect as-is, that would throw the balance heavily in favor of red. As for deducting ten points from the ravager, I don't think adding an extra hellhound would balance the game (but it might).
>>53441566
>>53441646
I think an idea that might be worth toying with is have a certain piece that must reach the other side. It doesn't have to be a 'king' piece, but the game would have been trickier if for instance you could only win by getting a marine to the back rank and not a stalker.
>>53441678
>>53441646
Hm OK, just throwing some ideas out here.
>>53441763
I don't have time to play another game, but it looks interesting. I'm not a fan of having HP in a chess variant, but that may be down to taste. I recommend getting yourself a chess set and experimenting a bit with what does and doesn't work on your own, since you're still in the foundational stage of game design
>>53442028
yeah going to redesign that. HP is stupid
>>53442051
Ok did some more changes. Anyone want to play?
We can try a 100 points game.
>>53442130
There. Looks a bit more appealing now.
>>53442195
Anyone?
>>53446565
poor OP nobody wants to play your game.
Alright, fine. I'll play, how many units can we get?
