>>
>>53387846
I don't think Sisters are getting squatted - you don't see Skitarii there either - but I do think it's a little odd that the Deathwatch and Grey Knights both got a mention and they didn't (on the other hand, you've got to fill up the names on the Marines book somehow)
>>
>>53387920
No. Points will be adjusted regularly independent of codexes via pdfs and/or a General's Handbook style points compendium. Datasheets dont have matched play points on them.
>>
>>53387903
I'v heard they break easily and are garbage.
>>
>>53387903

What the fuck is this....

I dont like where they are going......

> huge gorgets for assault troops

>Shields on guns

>grav skates

Pls stop
>>
>>53387920
No because there are no points costs in the army codices. They'll release a 40k equivalent of the generals handbook every now and then which can update points costs.

In theory it means the game has a much higher chance of being balanced, because it can actually be balanced without new codices being pumped out.
>>
>>53387903
Since these guys are snapfit they might be a bit too much work to convert but when the standard ones release they might look pretty cool if you got rid of the gun shields, removed the stupid footpads, and gave them one of the old jetpacks. I quite like the multilayered heavy armor.

So the loyalist marines, across the board, will be taller than chaos because of primarch magic? Plus will they make new Terminators? What about chapter specific units like Thunderwolf Calvary, Ravenwing, and Deathcompany?

Rulebook: $80-90
Index: $50

Or I could be completely wrong. We'll see.

>This looks pretty bad and far away from the grimdark of 3rd I liked so much
Funny, I'm "unironically not liking" this for the opposite reason.
How to say this... you know how generic disaster movies have thousands of people dying off screen or in the distance but we are supposed to feel happy because the main character family end up safe and he get back with his ex wife or some shit? I hate that and that's how current 40k stuff make me feel.

I wouldn't have cared much if Guilliman had been killed after taking one step out of his stasis chamber but I'm bummed out about Cadia being unceremoniously blown up, or the countless unnamed planets destroyed in one throwaway line.
I'm ok with the main characters dying, but I want Stalingrad to hold goddammit.
But GW is doing the opposite of that: they play the "nothing is safe!" card while conservatively preserve their precious characters from harm. I understand very well why: character are models that have value, while the setting are just words and therefore disposable. Age a Sigmar is a perfect example of that: whole nations can disapear, but everything with a miniature stay. GW want to tell us "Here, billions of no-names got killed of screen, aren't we dark and gritty?" while almost every guy we actually know about are virtually invulnerable.

But from a narrative point of view, I want the exact opposite of that. I want characters that have their arc and pass on or fade off while nations or world go on.
>>
>>53389088
>your country can afford to pay more because you are generally wealthier.

Its not wealth if you pay more for everything.
If someone gives me $15, and i pay $10 for an item , doesnt make we wealthier than some overseas guy who gets $10 but pays $3 for the same item.

>>
>>53389403
Oh boy, that's a good question

It's currently looking like Necrons, because they seem to be relatively low unit count and I prefer elite armies (fuck space elves though)

Before that, it was Orks because they're funny and everybody likes them and you can do some cool stuff with them but alas they are a horde army

Before THAT it was Tau but also fuck Tau

and before that it was Guard but they're also pretty horde-y unless I go mechanised which I guess is a possibility

While I'm thinking about it: How do people collect CSM specific to a God? It seems like default CSM core units look either really unspecific and lame or very committed to one God and not fitting for the aesthetic of another God's army

Their current codex is an absolute joke. It was clearly created by a person was not enjoying working on it. Hopefully 8th edition will change this trend.

On the other hand orks are a great point to start in hobby and best race for hobbyist because you can make models out of plasticard with relative ease. Also limitless conversion possibilities. I made a flashgit's snazzgun out of tau plasma riffle and everyone has a good laugh whenever I'm fielding an ork with that weapon.

If you want to have a tad less grimdark race, you love Mad Max visual style for vehicles and you love to have a good laugh both at yourself and opponents then go for orks.

What I don't want is a shitload of gubbins strapped to a model at random, making it look like a undisciplined mess [Cawl comes to mind]

I want well thought out detail, not a childs idea of adding details that dont add anything.

Holy shit this general's almost on it's last legs.

Howdy 40K crowd. /btg/ regular here. Inspired by some previous threads, I have tentatively resumed work on my 40K-BT technical readout project. I'm starting to aim for the big vees for now, but want to ask you guys for advice in order to maintain "Fairness". Part of the reason I stopped was because I caught some math errors and wanted to revise them.

First Question: Guard Leman Russes. How does the average player usually kit them out? Stock, or do you pay the extra points for all the fixins? Because BT is a vehicle scale game, how would you kit yours out for anti-tank work?

Second, I'm taking 40K probabilities to make hard damage points. In the case of rapid fire weapons, which do you think sounds the fairest? Let's assume it's a Heavy 3 weapon, for example...

On successful hit, Damage*BSProb*Shots
or
On successful hit, Damage+(Damage*BS Prob*(shots-1))
Or
On successful hit, Base Damage Rounded * (Corresponding BT Cluster Hits table)
Or
If my math a shit, how should I be doing it?

Lastly
What are the biggest ground units that IG can be expected to field before things start falling into the Mechanicus' territory.

For the record, I'm trying to go for a by-the-numbers, not a by-the-fluff project. Fluff is all over the place, but numbers are something that can be worked with.

Absolutely no idea...

Some possibilities:

Characters
Fliers
Allies
Another game mode (death from the skies, apocalypse and kill team seem possible)
Narrative games
More background (Baal maybe)
More weapons

I'm guessing that the next lot of faction focuses will be the 'minor' ones, like genestealer cults, harlequins, admech, imperial agents and so on. If orks get thrown in there, it might be a bad sign. Presumably the very last faction focus will be space marines, although it also seems possible they will break them down by chapter or something.

No, because just like with DV chosen, they're designed to be show-offy. Since they are individual models and you don't have to assemble them from various bits that all have to go together, they can have more details and such.

I'm sure the proper plague marine will be a big more toned down, or you can use the MkIII marine kit in conjunction with the plague marine kit and spread the crap around.

Hilarity aside, being in the hole is cover. Did they already release anything on cover that I missed, or is this an indication of what cover does?

I was thinking it'd be a bit like in KT:A where cover penalizes the to hit roll, but this makes it look like it boosts the armor save instead, which runs counter to the autohit effect of flamers.

Thoughts, anyone?

Do you guys think these might be cheaper models? Assuming a price of $125-$160, you can immediately shave off ~$30-$40 for the rule book, leaving you with $85-$120 (about 3 regular tactical squads) for 41 models 1 of which is a vehicle and 6 of which are characters. Hm I think the 5 plasmaguns tip it over. You will need to bubble wrap your MEQ and HQ with zombies if you want them to get anywhere without getting shoot to bits. But the drone can probably take out one of the HQs reliably each turn. Ór 1-2 plasmaguns.
>>
I like that the nurgleguys are modelled to waddle.
Might be the only thing I like.

>The plaguemarines are definitely atleast equal to primaris marines
Nope. They are slightly tougher but the primaris have way better guns and two attacks each in close combat. Also, the primaris have five plasma guns (probably superior primaris plasma guns too) to the plague's one.

>vehicle looks like it has lascannons

Look closer, those aren't lascannons. Look like some kind of chemical projector. No idea how powerful they are.

Are we likely to get a new teaser today, or is the release date it?
>>
>>53390729
Infantry?
>>
>>53390779
I guess PM will have W 2. It would be a 3:1 ratio against them, practical impossible odds.
>>
>>53390785

just use normal IG rules, silly bint
>>
>>53390689
It's very similar to the Age of Sigmar starter.

Stormcast - Primaris

3 Prosecutors - 3 Inceptors
2 Squads of 5 Liberatos - 2 Squads of 5 Intercessors
3 Retributors - 5 Hellblasters
1 Lord Relictor - 1 Ancient
1 Lord Celestant on Dracoth - Captain and two lieutenants

Bloodbound - Death Guard
20 Bloodreavers - 20 Poxwalkers
1 Khorgorath - 1 Bloat-drone
5 Blood Warriors - 7 Plague Marines
1 Bloodstoker - 1 Plaguecaster
1 Bloodsecrator - 1 Blightbringer
1 Lord of Khorne - 1 Lord of Contagion

Latest is that there will be free datasheets, but missing the rules you actually need to use them properly. I think the idea is that you print them out as a quick reference, they aren't meant to let you play without paying for the rules.
>>
>>53390823
It's basically a daemon land speeder.
>>
>>53390849

It's like poetry...
>>
>>53390821
It's 4:15, so looks like the release announcement is all we're getting today.

Is it just me, or do those guns have airbrush cups?
>>
>>53390877
Today is also supposed to be the day for an Army Focus article
But we'll have to see if the date announcement is considered so important that they'll decide to postpone it
>>
>>53390877
Dang. It's what I assumed (usually when I get home from work the new one is up), and I guess I'd rather have that than more scenery rules, but still disappointing.
>>
>>53390833
yeah i will
gonna feel weird walking into combat with everyting
also i'll have to proxy my vulture , and possibly vendetta as valks

And 125$ as well... I hope.
>>
>>53390907
Probably. Plaguemarines are probably going to go the space wolf wolf wolf route with plague sprays, plague armor, plague lasers, plague viral plaguebombs, plague blasters with viral plague rounds, swords of plague, plague of swords etc.
>>
>>53390858
So MC then

Math it out

Until the put out the Primaris Marine Battletome with unique special rules and units that assault turn one and shit out XdX mortal wounds every phase.

It happened with Stormcasts, it will happen with these guys as well.

Man i thought the alliance thing was just a meme

So indexes are snapshot 4thlike updates whilst they work on the codexes?

Which index will be obsolete first I wonder?
>>
>>53390517
Is that it? I'd that all it does?

That's horseshit! What happened to the rock solid defensive line, the staple of imperial guard infantry play? My dudes have a 5+ save, what good is cover if it only gives them the equivalent of carapace armor that goes back to flak and worse if the enemy has armor piercing weapons?!

I paint my models, I'm one of the few people in my store with fully painted armies!

At least one fully painted army.

I'm not even going to collect nurgle marines though.

Is literally every army in the game one of this guys 'favourite armies'? Almost every one of these starts with that.
>>
>>53391106
boring.

At least we get orks next
>>
>>53391101
have you ever tried hiding behind rubble and a small wall when most modern AT weapons hit you ?

jokes aside, idk man.

Not orks.
They are the cult film of Warhammer.
Loved by fans, hated by producers and critics.

Fuck yeah can't wait for my 6pt Tzaangors!
>>

>Poxwalkers. Coming in at 6 points.
>they have is Curse of the Walking Pox, allowing you to add another Poxwalker to the unit every time they slay any enemy Infantry models.

And here I was assuming free model syndrome was gone.

Thanks Nu-GW!

just like age of sigmar's Bloodbound

Blood Crushers, Blood Warriors, Blood Reavers, Blood Thirster, Blood Letter, Blood Stoker, and Blood Master
>>
>>53391179
>>53391142
And another thing, what happened to going to ground, or arousing? Is that just a +1 now too? What about the Aegis Line? Does it just do a +1?

If all cover is +1 then ranged blob armies are basically dead in the water. Sure we can bunch up now but apparently now that 2"-thick ceramite plate we put up earlier is going to be worth jackshit.
>>
>>53391344
>Arousing
Because that's TOTALLY what I wanted to write, and not 'shrouding'. Damn phone.
