Are those... Skybrarians?
(yeeaaaaahhhh)
>>
Are those pistols? Weird-ass looking pistols.

I'll admit, I'm kinda ticked off. Seraphim as twin pistol jump troops was one of the few things we had that marines didn't. Now there are better marines with (Almost certainly) better bolt pistols.
>>
thy look kinda cool, but they also look really heavy, which usually osnt a good thing for jump pack units

he saw that almost every other race in the galaxy used their jump troops to carry powerful and specialised ranged weapons (crisis suits, hawks, spiders, flygrants, gargoyles, shrikes, scourges) and decided that maybe there was a reason for that
>>
>>53387257

they're stormbolters, not bolt pistols.

and destroyers have been around for a while in 30k, thats a much greater infringement than these shitters

besides you know what they say about imitation and flattery
>>
Those are less jump packs, than they are jump BACKS. Or maybe Jump Hats.

>>
>>53387299
Those are single barreled.
So no doubt they'll be Boltstormers, or Boltcarbines or something. Magnumbolters. Something else creatively bankrupt.

Alternatively, since those are little shields, it'll be Combi-Shields.
>>
>>53387310
You get a gauntlet of ultramar! And YOU get a gauntlet of ultramar!

Gauntlets of Ultrimar, for everyone!
>>
The posing makes them look kind of goofy, like they're just sort of floating around instead of hurtling through the air.

>and destroyers have been around for a while in 30k, thats a much greater infringement than these shitters

Yeah but SOB can't be used in 30k and Destroyers can't be used in 40k so they were at least not in the same game before.

>besides you know what they say about imitation and flattery

At this point it's less 'Imitation' and more 'The SOB have nothing left to take'.

I am really not seeing how 8e will give SOB a unique playstyle that isn't just 'Marines but cheaper'.

I dunno, at this point I'm just really burned out about losing the few remaining things we had to marines.
>>

>when legion destroyer squads have been a thing for years

Also, I'm assuming they're gonna be some extended range, rapid fire pistols, rather than the ones you see on the sergeants.

Can't really see what those tiny-ass shields are meant to protect against - hell, even the Combat Shield (which everyone forgets exists anyway) covers more

Those jump packs do look suitably huge though
>>
>>53387221
I don't play the game but those are kinda neat. I don't care too much for the head shrouds, but otherwise they're cool. I like the shields on the guns, and the little covers on their soles that shows they're wearing layers of power armor.
>>53387310
This one's kinda weird, the shroud still seems pretty huge, and that's kind of an unflattering angle for the crotch area because it makes the abdominal armor look really long. Otherwise I like the extra armory bits on the legs. The right arm looks really small in comparison to everything else.
>>
>>53387257
At least we know that Seraphim will be good (probably) if Bigmars are packing double pistols.

>>53387282

Listen friend, I wasn't making a moral judgement. You asked why? I gave you the entirely rational business decision behind GW's actions.

Chapterhouse didn't give trademark law even passing lip-service, making and marketing models for named GW special characters as those characters for example, and GW stilll only got less than half the claims to stick. That clearly scared their legal department. And GW is a publically traded company. I imagine they had to do something to keep investors happy.

>GW leave open Areas
>BAH NOT DETAILED ENOUGH

>GW add tons of detail

I like the flat open look of the armor, it shows they're less baroque and more modern, as for the poses, it looks like Bigmarines are multipose, but like the old Squating marines, limited in posing due to arm and leg posing.
>>

Imagine if Disney lost the rights to their Snow White design because Snow White is a publically traded item.

That basically sums up why GW are going the way they are going.

There's hits and misses in these new miniatures, I won't be buying it I know that much.

To me, how detailed the miniatures are shows GW has shifted. Before it's well documented they were aiming at new kids who would spend £200 then get bored of the hobby after a few months. Now I think they're shifting back to their core market. I don't want to sound rude but the kind of people who have no knowledge or love of wargaming or hobby products outside of GW, who reacted to the Warhammer World being blown up by pre-ordering "awesome" steampunk dwarfs at full RRP.

I know the Dark Vengeance set miniatures weren't exactly as simple as earlier intro boxes, like Assault on Black Reach, but this seems more like the Horus Heresy "boardgames" that were basically just army deals rather than a real intro set.

Way back with the old 54mm scale Inquisitor game it was alluded to the Ordo Hereticus had their own chamber militant which was yet another flavour of Marines.
There is literally no connection between the SoB and the OH mentioned at all the books.

Come actually writting the SoB dex of 3rd, GW couldn't think of how to expand on the girls, they had all these little freak show units from the Inquis game and they wanted to do a cross promotion of sorts so they retconned SoB into the OH.

It's a bit of a mess for me. I dig the helmets and the fact that GW is giving us the MkII helmets we should have had from FW ages ago, is a massive bonus. I've been wanting those for ages.

The FW design on those is too much tied to the old mess that is CSM. MkV torso with a MkII helmet, and MkVI legs. But, hopefully, with a plastic multi-part plague marine kit in MkIII, I can combine them with regular MkIII and make some less fucked up Nurgle Marines.

desu I think the Death Guard minis are cool af and really get the feel of the army.
Primaris marines are bland in comparison, just muh generic more plate armor and more reinforced mk.VII. Assault primaris look like that Kharadron lord, which is a shit design and as Infinity tiers of generic.

Luckily tho we can say that regular marines will still have a reason to be fielded, I was really spooked that Primaris would overtake their roles, but they adjust to different needs.
The only overlap I see maybe is the primaris squad with special weapons and veteran squads.

I've never actually played Fantasy myself, it's just an observation.

GW have shifted their outlook in recent years and some people have fell for it. Which is fair enough, if they make the toy soldiers you like the look of, nothing wrong with buying them.

Take Blood Bowl though; I've been playing it for years, through GW's lack of support where the fans and third parties stepped up and kept BB tournaments as popular as any other GW ones. Now GW have tried to take it back and basically just fragmented the last fan ruleset up into "DLC" season books that casual GW-only types have slurped up and praised them for.

Apart from the fact that you have Dark Mechanicum production facilities, there's CSM groups who've just fused with their armour. there's CSM to whom time is so convoluted that to them the Heresy just ended, etc.

Not to forget that why exactly is all their armour just a mix of MkV, VI and VII? Loyalists don't even make MkV, because why would you, and the traitor legions were particularly stacked with MkVs. If the "they scavenge" is true, then they should have marks across the board and especially the newer marks.

Arguably they could not know how their tech is made, there is few of Ynnari left and most of them are warriors not artisans and bonesingers.

That's retarded. By that logic the Imperium should win everything always. Just cause you're a superpower doesn't mean you don't lose small fights sometimes due to other circumstances constraining you.

Considering Eldrad's still with them I'm sure they can learn how Grav works at the very least, just from being shown and examing it.

I mean, c'mon, as if the Magi of Mars couldn't reverse engineer better grave from a working Eldar jetbike.

a chaos lord in terminator armour is literally the one kind of model where that sort of detail overload is completely acceptable and expected

I think its just the new artificer armor mostly because the interceptors have it and because it is using the standard primaris power pack.

Let's see if you still feel the same when Creative Assembly shits out the last Total Warhammer game and then moves on.
>>
>>53388994
>You expect a chaos lord to cover himself in chainmail?
sure?

A: It's a visual theme of chaos, and distinguishes them from their loyalist compatriots
B: Chainmail being used as a stopgap/ad-hoc replacement for plate mail is fairly normal. Chaos don't got the resources or facilities to keep their tactical dreadnoughts in tip-top shape, and so have to improvise.

GW has said that this is going to be a big release my guess is they are going to release the rest of the non snap-fit deathgaurd at the same time

But you can clearly see his armour is fine under the chainmail. What makes Chaos unique is the horned helmets, extended power plants and the armour edging.

Not what I said. I said it's fucking stupid and over detailed. I'm fine with stupid weapons, this is beyond stupid

Not a Termie I think. The legs are the same as the assault marines ones and it has a separate power pack. "Just" the new armor with some custom elements and a curious articulated belly plate. I'd say the kit probably has an option for a jetpack. I actually kinda like it. The less utterly massive pauldrons make it for me.

Horrible design, and if I want to field 60 of them they will all look the same because there are only 10 of them and snap fit, so no converting or even different poses.

(yes you can convert and change arms etc, but the models are so specific and obvious that it's just lame)

Really really don't like it.

And since when do cultists get so many blessings from a god?
