You know what I like about them?
They've got a strong tribal African theme, but they're armor isn't covered in lion pelts and wacky tribal shit.
Also, I like that their most significant event is a horrific betrayal and defeat, and that they don't get revenge on the people who fucked them up. Their victory is surviving. I think that's a refreshing change from 40k's usual standard of story telling, where everyone has to be the most badass ever at everything.

Steel Confessors have always disappointed, because despite being Machanicus in nature, and being based on the Iron Hands' geneseed, they are still somehow always depicted as less technological than both the Mechanicus and the Iron Hands.
Never shown with bionic eyes or servo-arms, rarely even do they have the iconic Iron Hand of the Iron Hands. They don't carry around Volkite weaponry or used ancient Master-Crafted Phased-Plasma.
I don't see why anyone would ever choose to use them over Iron Hands, who actually have some of that wacky super-science.

They're really not particularly important in 40k. They've been involved in some historic conflicts like the Pentarchy of Blood, but most of their history is firmly seated in the Horus Heresy with stuff like Autek Mor and the Raising of Bodt.

It's a stand-off device. In real life, you use them to prevent issues from occurring when you press the barrel of a firearm to a door or something. Some people modify their handguns with them so they don't have to worry about the gun going slightly out of battery when they press it into an enemy.

They died in fucking droves. The standard result of a Grey Knight facing a powerful Daemon was both of them dying.
They also weren't the "LolTeamkill!" faction. Executing potentially corrupted people was something they were ashamed of and kept secret, as opposed to a dumb meme trait. White Dwarf explicitly contrasted the Witch Hunters with the Demon hunters in that Grey Knights and the Ordo Malleus showing up was a cause for celebration and hope, while Battle Sisters and the Ordo Hereticus was an occasion for terror among the citizens of the Imperium.
I dunno... I guess I just always liked that the elite of the elite of the elite was actually shockingly fragile and defined by the fact that loss, secrecy, and a life without thanks for their sacrifice was a big part of their lives.

Exorcists have almost nothing in common with Grey Knights besides they both fight daemons. Their methods, levels of technology, and effectiveness are completely different.
