Life in a fallen and vestigial imperium, ruled by an immortal sovereign and rife with xenophobia, can't be easy or nice. It's a grim and dark world to live in and offers no escape to a man, not even within his mind.

No wonder the brits would seek solace from a happier world, imaginary as it might be.

40k was better as a satire.
>>
At least the Imperium is still mostly intact.

It never was, especially lately.

There is no great difference between Britain and the Imperium of Man
>>
Seed of truth in that 40k was mostly a 2000AD (and in particular Nemesis the Warlock) knock-off and 2000AD at that time aimed heavily at Thatcher and the British establishment.

You can own guns in the Imperium.

Let this oldfag meme die. I loved Rogue Trader, but it was only amusing because it was made by young guys with British punk sensibilities. It was a product of the time and there was no way to maintain that aesthetic moving forward. If they had tried, the IP would've just ended up lame like the Simpsons. Moving into grimdark scifi pulp was the right call.

It is the 41st Millennium.
>Not anymore
For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the Master of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly die.

Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in his name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors.
>Not anymore
Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and worse.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be re-learned.
>But it's okay, some guy will have been working on it for 10k years, secretly using the best of Mars's resources through every upheaval the IoM has faced, and also through the 21st founding.
Forget the promise of progress and understanding,
>Unless Bobby G returns.
for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

How much more of this will be lies in 8th?

depends on the world, would not be surprised that on most hive worlds you would not be allowed guns
>>
>>53331298
I own guns in the UK, you cock.
>>
>>53336377

Hive gangers get them anyway. Small arms on that scale are reasonably easy to smuggle or even build yourself. It'd just be a matter of machining out a few parts.
>>
>>53336395
In the Imperium you wouldn't be punished for using them on alien invaders.
