Does anyone have any art centered around bio-technology?
go to /a/, ask about NGE

>Biotech/Organic clothing
Reminds me of John Dies at the End when they end up in an alternate earth that went the biotech route. Everyone greeting them is naked because they thought it would be less likely to freak them out than their every day wear.

>>53281133
I'm sorry what?!
I prefer sleek purpose built biotech ala Space Jockeys, vs rip a feature off an organism and slap it on you biotech ala Zerg.

>Why Ribo?
>Cybernetics was a dead science when cyberpunk SF was born, a cul-de-sac without living practitioners. Furthermore, the "cyber" prefix has been irreparably debased by overuse, in vehicles ranging from comic books to bad movies. The tag now stands for nothing in the public mind but computer hacking and fanciful cyborgs such as Robocop. And Weiner's actual texts do not provide enough fruitful metaphors for constructing a systematic worldview.
>Why Funk?
>Punk was a dead music when cyberpunk SF was born, a cul-de-sac albeit with living practitioners who just hadn't gotten the message yet. The music's nihilistic, chiliastic worldview had already culminated in its only possible end: self-extinction.
>What is Ribofunk then?
>Ribofunk is speculative fiction which acknowledges, is informed by and illustrates the tenet that the next revolution--the only one that really matters--will be in the field of biology. To paraphrase Pope, ribofunk holds that: "The proper study of mankind is life." Forget physics and chemistry; they are only tools to probe living matter. Computers? Merely simulators and modelers for life. The cell is King!
>>53299576
I agree, makes it look more like something an intelligent creature would design.
>>53299645
>Cybernetics was a dead science when cyberpunk SF was born
But we're at the point where actual cybernetics are being experimented with and used in prosthetics.
>>53299645
This is far and away the most cancerous greentext I've ever read. I recommend you stop posting and take your own life, and that anyone who disagrees with me do the same.

>>53284269
>>53280371
Source? It feels very night-lands to me.
>>53307277
My first thought was something you'd see in a dying earth type setting, some blasted heath with tall black spires sticking up sparsely.
If you haven't already look into the Prophet series, shit's like 80% biotech fuckery.
>>53313128
Reminder that Prometheus is canon and space jockeys were really giant grey humans.
>>53313189
Reminds me of invader zim.
>>53314479
You know I was thinking that a campaign where everyone plays either an alien invader or a human collaborator trying to infiltrate earth would be really cool.
>>53281133
I don't know how or why but this disturbs me more than the furries how live nearby me.
>>53313160
I will never not be salty over this. Prometheus would of been ten times better (if still flawed) if they had just used the original space jockey design. Idiot character decisions, plot holes, dropping the 70's look? Fine, fine.
What isn't fine? Completely removing every shared of mystery from the setting. Damn you Ridley Scott, god fucking damn you.
>>53316191
>>53316213
I mean...just look at this fantastic creature design. It's vaguely humanoid, and full of unknowns. Imagine this thing rising out of the pod and speaking to the crew in a guttural tongue before ripping them to shreds? It would of been fantastic.
Anyone got old school phyrexians?
>>53284293
Is there more?
>>53316278
Like Chozo from hell. I like it. What a shame.
>>53317051
Well Metroid was directly inspired by Alien. Do you doubt that they got some Space Jockey inspiration for the Chozo?
>>53313160
I like to think that the only things that are canon in the Alien universe are Alien andAlien: Isolation
>>53317108
Well of course. Geiger's work has been a go-to for strange and alien designs for a long time. I just thought specifically the notion of a goliath alien getting up out of his chair and distributing some close encounters of the fourth kind really cool, very much like the fake Chozo fights. Of course, without alien bird wizard power-armor the following scenes would be quite different I'd imagine.
I didn't see Prometheus and to be honest I haven't seen a lot of Alien and the related media because I'm a bit of a pussy, but the designs and Geiger's work has always been super cool to me. If there's one thing that's constant, Hollywood and other media needs to get the memo that just including these kinds of designs is missing half the terrible magic and majesty of the unknown, fully "other" space that makes things like the Alien terrifying.
>>53317357
Me too bro. Just got done seeing covenant. Meh.
>>53317574
It completely ruins the alien now that it has a human origin.
Do these guys count? From battle los Angeles. I enjoyed the movies aesthetics more than the plot though.
>>53316278
>>53318158
This. Covenant was an okay sci-fi horror movie but as an alien movie it was just above Prometheus and below Alien Resurrection on my scale. They somehow manage to not only dispel the sense of mystery around the aliens and space jockey's while also managing not to answer a single god damn thing, I'm almost impressed they managed that.

>>53284269

And that's it.
>>53313160
To be fair they needed the Mala'kak to have a sort of human face in order to be impregnated by the face-hugger.
>>53322086
Bullshit, a facehugger manages to latch onto a dog in one film.
>>53325142
Doesn't the canon become debatable after Aliens? Although I could have sworn there was a scene even in Aliens where it was implied that facehuggers would go after livestock as well.
>>53320944
You see those swiveling things on their suits, yeah thats just their flesh being horrendously mutated.
She got some weird elongated skull going on there.
