You can make any change to 40k you want, and on top of that change, the price will drop dramatically, the playerbase will expand to include more normies, and both balance and community interaction will improve to be best in class.

However, going forward, 40k will become anime as fuck - every shounen trope in the book will saturate the game. Giant swords, katanas, willpower battles, edgy antagonists, etc, and you better brace yourself for the next Tau release wave.

Yeah, it's a lot of brass. I'll paint all the straps and joints black, grenades will be green/red and pouches will also be painted brown. Boltercases will be red, to complement the shoulderpads. For the Aquilas/wings, I'd go for either a lighter gold or silver. Silver would be the better choice, I guess.

It's borderline impossible to fix 40k overnight because of how *much* shit there is in it. Even if you ignore the grognards you'd piss off by breaking the lists they can take with the hundreds of dollars of plastic they currently own, there's so many models and wargear options and etc in the field that it's a herculean task just to write a new edition of the rules, let alone a streamlined one.

You'd have to set a baseline and try to fix things going forward, taking like a decade to do so.

It only takes a few games of any system that was designed as a cohesive whole (eg anything by FFG) to see how fucking ramshackle Warhammer is.

I'd bring back densely packed books that marked the 80s-90s and try to strike a balance with the modern style. Blend the dense rules that promote your dudes with a an ability to play the game streamlined. Add that dorky charm to it and mix it in with the recent styles for the models.
that should bulk it up before the animu fags get to it and hopeful it brings a love of depth to the new players entering.
the edgy shit will kill it off and new games will enter the fore with grimdark and weird quirks

First of all, nope. Guts can lift tons of weight and move at supersonic speeds. He left that ''normal human'' shit behind WAAAAAY back.
Second, you still haven't disproved that you know fuck all about the setting. Do you know what a Death World is? That, my son, is a place that makes the world of Pre-Eclipse Berserk look like PARADISE. Literally any Death World inhabitant that reaches fucking teens is AT BARE MINIMUM as tough as Guts and has went through equal or worse shit (assrape not mandatory but not excluded). Then, these literal Guts+ kids are put through INSANELY grueling trials, and only the absolute best bass. THEN, these absolute peaks of humanity go through the long, grueling process of training and genetic enhancement, and only one in a thousand survives it to become a fully-fledged battle brother. So, literally less then 1% of 1% from a planet where being Pre-Eclipse Guts is the BARE MINIMUM requirement to survive gets to become a Space Marine.

And the funny thing is, the failures, the ones who couldn't pass the trials, go on to become the absolute best of the Imperial Guard.

C)A huge part of the Guard is forcefully conscripted so it's not so much courage as being literally forced into a meat grinder without any choice in the matter

Overall I wanted them to be reasonable marines who where the special forces of the imperium more than warrior monks.
I've played with their fluff a lot over the years and after reading Deliverance Lost I decided that the few if any remaining Alpha Legion infiltrators that maybe played the part of raven guard the whole HH through eventually formed a successor chapter, fighting the enemies of the imperium but also trying to determine what the hell was happening to the alpha legion and if the plan was still "let's join Horus but like to help the imperium by beating them"

Kind of like a dark angels inner circle super secret club but hopefully less autistic and edgy. But I guess you guys will be the judges of that.
