I'm pretty if a Primarch (especially one as well liked and respected) as Roboute says "Hey, we're gonna need an update to the geneseed" and you've got 10k years to get the job done that the Mechanicus will get it done. It's popular to think that the Imperium is one cascade of blunders into the next but for every colossal fuckup they're humming along actually getting shit done. It's just gotten to the point where the number of fuckups is quickly outpacing their successes. Hopefully the narrative jump helps bring that back into balance where they can happily sit in lore stasis for another 20 years while fleshing new events.

Firstly, I don't think you can have 10 numarines in a squad.

Second, I think 1k Sons have the clear advantage in a ranged fight. The Sorcerer can pick off one Numarine a turn easily, and the -2 AP leaves them with a pretty poor save while the Rubrics still have a 3+ even in the open.

Melee is trickier, though I think it'll basically boil down to the Numarines slowly trying to punch their way through the Rubric's armor while the Sorcerer slowly chops them down with his axe.

It's 14 points for 10 Rubrics compared to 12 for 10 Numarines. The 2 point difference is for the Sorcerer and his Force weapon.

I still think that if you took the sorcerer out of the equation it'd be fairly even though.

10 Rubrics rapid-firing into Numarines deal about 3-4 wounds killing 2.

10 Numarines doing the reverse deal 1-2 wounds, also killing 2.

Pretty much a matter of one tanking with armor and the other tanking with wounds. The Numarines have an advantage in movement and range, and the Rubrics have an advantage in having a Sorcerer and other wargear options.

In a white room scenario, the Numarines would have it. In an actual situation on the tabletop? I think they'd get overwhelmed.

snap fit is monopose. No way to pose or anything, sometimes you can't even change the weapon loadout.
Most basic troop boxes give you a good enough range of posability. You can twist/bend the torso, the head and the arms, while also being able to easily choose the weapon a miniature will carry. It gives you a bit more of the "your dudes" feeling desu.

What happened to the Mechanicum fleets after the Heresy, those that didn't get assimilated into a Forge World?

I like to imagine that there's some still out there, bearing the flag of a dead planet and a changed god. They show up occasionally, wreck an absolute fuckton of fools then leave, because they can't afford to be caught by the Mechanicus. They'd probably be almost legend to the people they choose to protect, the "Old Mechanicus" beyond the fringes.
Something a bit like Ulysses from FNV, where they know they are the last ones who remember what the Mechanicum was meant to be. Mad, of course, but no less cunning for it.

Assuming well placed target and shot it hits 3 1/3rd of the time, assuming 7 or more (so 4 inch scatter) gets nothing, 6 gets 1, 5 gets 2, 4,3,2 get 3 then hits 1.03~1. (3*1/3+1*2/3)*5/6=1.67.

Battlecannons are trash in 7th, (and look like they will be in 8th) only carried by the times you can shoot a clumped target, mostly happens in multi-layered ruins from my experience, but that ads cover saver. And deep striking units, but often they're deepstrking specifically to kill the russ with melta.

I really don't see the exterminator being anything more than D1. Plasma cannons as well will probably only be D1, with a heavy save modifier.

When rumours started coming, I had two fears.

It's definitely either/or, not and, so keep that in mind. You can also get Deep Strike, Scout or Tank Hunters, so if you're taking vet squads you could specialise them accordingly.

You could also justify not taking a Covenant as being Undivided if you want marauders (perhaps your Auxilia were corrupted by Word Bearers, for extra insult to Ultramar?) but that would limit your access to daemon engines and shit.

We don't know how much of this is going to matter in 8th, though, so just make the models you want to make and keep us updated.
