How do you deal with suicides in your games?

I don't. It's never happened. And if a player decided that was necessary, somebody, ranging from that player to the DM to other players was a massive That Guy.

Why is suicide a That Guy move?
>>53222207
With laughter.
It usually means that the GM did a great job.

I don't think he was saying it was, just that if a player actually considers suicide as a valid option, then someone in the game is probably a That Guy, if it be the guy committing sodoku, the other players, or the DM for pushing the player to the point where suicide is even an option a player would take

Just to make sure we're all on the same page, like, player character suicide, right?
Not, like, player suicide?

Specifically what do you mean? For example, noble sacrifices can come about organically, and are a good part of the game. Death by stupidity, such as
>I attack the army lol
would create a rift between that player and the group, so they would likely be excised. Suicide, as in a character literally taking their own life, can work, although should be discussed beforehand with the dm, and should be done only when a characters story is complete, treat it as you would retiring a character, but perhaps more tragic.
A player committing suicide sucks, and while it can be awkward for the game, you should respectfully retire a deceased players character, generally in a non-deathy way.

What if it's in genre? Like, a samurai setting, there's going to be some harakiri now and again. I could see that being done in a dramatically appropriate way.

I think OP is asking for help

We tried to avoid it. Each suicide fueled the Big Bad. Talking one of them down was more difficult and memorable than any combat.
