To be fair, Archmagi have quite a bit of license there, Kotov and Telok in the FOM books both clearly show emotions. Still a little odd and shows how few fucks they give about anything outside their bullshit 40k Wrestling tournament and writer's pet faction wank. Celestine comes kinda close to an emotional scene when G-man shows up, and he is a little introspective himself, but at no point does that actually change anything and it's clearly written so that they could go "Look here, drama and emotions and shit". No attention is drawn to Cawl, and he still works well as a character despite that.
I just really like his trailer, his voice is awesome, sounds very Admech and is generally really well done.

I think there's a curve. They start normal, deliberately suppress their emotions as they get higher in rank and bully their subordinates into doing the same - if you take the Rite of Pure Thought, you won't rise too much higher. Once you get past a certain point they start showing more and more emotion as they can easily get away with it and have such advanced minds that they don't lose functionality in a crisis by having them. Also they realize there's no real point. The Raven Guard geneseed turns them into Albinos basically. Along with a couple things from the books. Like many raven guard inherited their primarchs ability to suppress people's vision of them, kinda like a supernatural 'stealth' field. That they do, and not only is is ugly as hell the rules are old and useless. 2000 points is a lot for two no-blast BS4 D shots, 3 Ion Cannon and 24 Burst Cannons, even hovering around taped to 30 4++ HP. It's not like Tau benefit much from having fuckheug transports.

Oddly enough, the 30k Mechanicum can take them as LoW thanks to a rather vague rule on extra loot as long as they're "modeled and painted to make their allegiance to the Mechanicum clear." So they can use their FoC with two LoW slots and take two Tank Hunting Mantas which heal 2HP per turn plus IWND and have Tank Hunters, one with BS5 and one with +1 to Vehicle Damage Table. Actually makes them pretty effective at blasting the fuck out of things with the 30k D rules.
So the faction that can best use the Manta was reformed and officially dissolved ten thousand years before the Manta showed up, has no markerlights or support for it or Suits to go in the special carry slots and can't even use the official model.
They can load in Land Raiders with Fleshbane Flamestorm Cannon and Grav plus FA15 or 135pt Crassus main transports both carrying Grav or more Fleshbane Torrent, though, and rain down 140 pt squads with 10 BS5 Haywire Cognis shots each.

Well, it's a superb army. Gorgeous models, excellent rules and a massive dose of flavour in the HQs and all the different options for the everything, since unlike GW they don't pussy out of options because they don't explicitly have a model or a part for that. Are there any Tzeentch daemon players in here that actually use the split rule on pink horrors? I've gotten by using the pre-WoM blue horrors rule so I don't have to buy a metric fuckton of blues/brims for my 50 pinks, but with the impending death of formations and today's revelation on summoning being changed to a reinforcement system, anyone feeling like they are about to get fucked hard for shelling out for all those extra horror models? Will split actually survive into 8th? I'm more worried it will stay but the base cost of pinks will be increased to compensate, meaning I'll have to buy all the little blue fuckers regardless.

I've never actually seen another Tzeentch player use split before due to the high money cost. Is it as much of a nightmare to fight against as it seems like it is to field?

Fought it once against the local dickhead. Sadly, I was not running meta WarConvo against his cheese list and the Vanguard swept them up happily and laughed their way through Flickering Fire with 2+ cover. Then his Fateweaver got a Skyfire Nexus gatling cannon rammed up his ass by my Imperial Knight after he double-fluffed the Grimoire and it all went downhill from there.

Seen it against armies with less outrageous luck, though, and it's painful as hell. My friend's DG basically could do nothing because they can't really deal with respawining 5++ reroll 1 psyker hordes who keep making more as Magnus flies around slapping anything remotely dangerous with the D.

If they increase the cost of horrors to accommodate the split rule, I think that's fine, actually. You don't need them as psychic batteries anymore, and if they give them back shooting, that's even better. Horrors used to cost 17ppm back in the day, which is what a pink, blue, and brim cost together, though you do need two blues/brims per pink. If horrors are more expensive up front, then you require fewer blue and brim down the line anyway, but I like the idea of split effectively making them a multiwound model that only takes one damage at a time. However, I wouldn't be sad to see it go, either.

Both tzeentch players in my group do it, though they usually just proxy pinks for blues. They do use the brimstone models.
It's not really hard to fight against, if you want them dead your conscripts can handle them and they aren't dangerous enough to bother killing if they're not doing anything.

The main issue I found with summoning was that could summon without paying a fully operational and upgraded squad if you rolled enough dice.
Along with how easy it was to spam units that could summon shit.

Then again the main problem of 7th was how easy is to spam very cheap and cost effective shit on the board. It was even encourged by the mechanics since there was no need for variation if the spammed unit could do everything

Flexibility's the big bonus of summoning as opposed to traditional reserves.

If you lost plague bearers and find yourself fighting power armour you may want to summon bloodletters instead, or if you're fighting high toughness the opposite for (maybe) poisoned hits.

They are basically just pre-thinned paint at the right consistency for use in an airbrush. Don't water them down any further and they should be fine to apply with a fur brush. Coverage might be a bit shit, so you may want to invest in the proper base coats, but for highlighting and so on they should work fine.

because its ingenious. theres no point butchering the models with an awful conversion when you can just come up with a fluff excuse and use your imagination.

Say for instance they bring a fog of chilled, icy air with them which counts as cover for any of the vostroyans behind them.

I've been in this hobby a long time and when simple yet original ideas like using WHFB yetis (which are not exactly common since GW killed off the game) instead of regular ogryn for a vostroyan army it is very rare.

Lots of people have done shitty conversions with actual Fantasy Ogres but this is something I have not seen before and it fits the army a lot better too.

Better than whatever badly greenstuffed fur hats and greatcoats amateurs try put on the plastic ogryn kits anyway.
