Tell me about druids. Did they really backstab the forces of the light if they were close to deposing the genocidal megalomaniac evil tyrant? Or was it a meme?

Its just something from old school Rpgs that people bring up from time to time
The existence of druids is just propaganda spread by trees and their foliage sympathizers.
I don't know OP. I suppose that's their mystery.

It was only even remotely a thing in the old editions, and even then the memes make it far more common and exaggerated than it really was.
Oh right you're talking about Always True Neutral druids. I think in general they told the forces of light to stay out of their damn forests, but they'd usually join forces against the evil tyrant because evil tyrants invariably favour a program of aggressive industrialization (notoriously bad for forests).
When they were introduced, there were no cosmic forces of good and evil, just Law and Chaos. Law is generally more benevolent but neither is truly good or evil. Back then, druids were supposed to maintain balance to avoid either becoming the sole way of things (absolute chaos and the breakdown of causality, or rigid adherence to structure with no variation).
Two-axis alignment was a mistake.

This.
True neutral was "good" back then, because Law and Chaos would both kill the universe if either one won.

>True neutral
Ugh.
>>53184650
That doesn't even make sense within its stupid logic. If you sabotage Good while Evil still has the upper hand then you're not actually doing much for balance, are you?

>BBEG
Ugh.

Don't be silly anon. The druids of England come from the teachings of Joseph of Arimathea who travelled to England after the death and resurrection of Christ.
