Can someone Redpill me on Harn? It is billed as being realistic with rich, in-depth lore. Is it any good? Is the world good? Any links to books?

That's not what red pill means.

>Harnmaster
I too would like to know more.
It's meh.
It's interesting because it stylistycally covers barely touched age, and one that fits mythic.legendary themes way better than your standard late medieval/renaissance usually done by other fantasy games.
But mechanicaly it's just typical 80s-90s overcomplicated ultracrunchy simulationist table:the tabling that is barely playable in practice.
And besides the general flavour, worldbuilding of the setting is rather meh as well.

Yeah, it has like 15 different attributes and 200 skills...just to be extra-table-y and simulationist.
That was it's selling point at the time: ultra-realistic early medieval brutality.

it doesn't go over well in germany, largely because "harn" means urine, and playing a game called "pissmaster" is less-than-averagely cool.

It's like the Chevy Nova in Spanish speaking countries.
Who wants a car that "doesn't go"?
Or that failed campaign for Dasani water in England where they said their water had spunk, because apparently Americans don't think spunk=semen.

>because apparently Americans don't think spunk=semen.
We do. Dasani's marketing department was just extra special retarded.

I personally really like the idea that in every book ever published for the setting, the story is never allowed to go passed a certain date that's assumed to be the start date for GMs, allowing groups to create their own continuation from that point without worrying about "official" plotlines.
It really promotes the idea of the setting being a sandbox meant to be made your own while still having a robust background and history to draw from.

Just play Hackmaster 5th edition, it is better in every way

This so much.
Granted, I happen to enjoy a stat-saturated game, so perhaps I'm a bit partial to any old crunchy 80ies game.
I still very much prefer the maps from Harm more than any other game, simple yet detailed
