Here's a question: If models are in 8th allowed to fire all of their weapons in one shooting phase, does that mean that when within 12" of the enemy can we rapid fire the bolter and then follow up with the pistol for 3 attacks per man?

What do your parents/wife/normalfag friends/colleagues think of your 40k-related lifestyle?

Do they frown upon it? Do you keep it secret?
>>
>>53136871
They might get btfo. Or they might get something else.

It does make some sense, that you can fire all your weapons at a target they have in range.

So bolters target one thing, and only one thing.
Flamers another single thing.
Etc.

So strictly speaking this might not be an end to the splitfire rule.

Im thinking of getting back into table top. I have a old Farsight Enclave army, before they had their own book.

However, I just want to have fun, and not be competitive.

So I was wondering, how is a Gretchen themed army? Like Gretchen for troops, Grot Tank for elite, Grot Mega Tanks for fast, and I guess either kill kans with a dread, or big mek guns, and lastly a big mek(as otherwise I can't take the Grot tanks).

Would people be pissy since I would be using forge world models, or would it be accepted since their Gretchen, and chances are will end up blowing themselves up?

Steel Legion 100%

They're focusing more and more on Armageddon, so fingers crossed for a proper army release coming up

I love the gas mask and chemical warfare vibe, and yeah Krieg has that too, but even if their models weren't so expensive their whole "soulless husks" vibe is hard to get into.

While I would be absolutely fucking ecstatic, they're not exactly a generic IG regiment. I doubt we'll see any regiment who's doctrine of war doesn't fit exactly to the Guard Codex.

Most folks seem to hate on fw for one of two reasons.
The cost.
The power creep.

The cost is a boohoo, cry some more issue for me.
At the moment, fw charges the exact same (high) price for orders from my country as they do for orders from the uk. gw on the other hand, charge close to double (after currency conversion) on some models, and always a sizeable bump, compared to what the same model costs in the U.K.
So fw to me are good guy gary. And gw are the scumbags.

The power level of forgeworld is another issue. In most cases however the points cost in part, and the unit type cover most of the OP nature of their models. Most. Not all. Something's are broken. But this is not limited to fw.
>grav spam. Eldar. Decurion. Formations in general.

Your local gw store might have issues with you playing their game with models they didn't sell you. But fuck'em it's their company bending them over.

I would be happy to play a grot army. Looks fun.

knightly aegis armor > shitty marine armor
And I wasn't aware that Bikes were the equivalent of knightly steeds. Especially with no lances or anything else a knight on a steed would have.
>>
>>53137989

I'm hopeful for 8e. The Skitarii have some great anti-vehicle weaponry, and in the age of unstoppable 80 wound land raiders they might end up becoming super duper useful.

Also word on the street is they'll be rolled in with cult mech (finally!! <3) so there'll be more options.

As far as money goes, Ad Mech is more expensive than space marines, but less than Sisters. It's about average for a 40k army. You can do what I did and cut down the money cost by inflating the point cost with special weapons. It'll make your army unwieldy and bloated to hell but it'll hit that 1500 sweet spot on a tighter budget.

>>53138048
Pulse carbines and pulse rifles can now be used to very very effectively mass fire on MCs and walkers. Yes sure they don't wound GEQ on 2+ but now they are wounding dread equivalents on a 5+. It's really not a bad trade-off if you ask me.
>>
>>53138048
Pulse carbines do get the benefit of wounding 8-9 on 5's.

but ok here's my two cents

my mom does not like the cost and she's kinda christian, so i only show her pics of tanks and not to scary looking stuff but she's mostly impressed about the skill that goes into it. same for my dad when he was still alive, minus the christian bit

some of my coworkers know, if someone asks what my hobbies are i say 'playing witht toy soldiers wich i have to build and paint first' and then i show them some pics. some think it's wierd, others don't care and some ask for more pics from time to time because they like the models and want to see what i'm up to

all of my friends know because i have a display cabinet with warhamms and other wierd/wonderfull objects in my livingroom and most of the time half my desk is covered in painting/modelling related stuff, they see it as part of me i guess. it's come to a point where even my more normie (gods i hate that word) friends wander to the display cabinet to check if there's something new or comment on some wip project going on when they visit

gf/wive, i'm not a people shy authist but where can i get one of those?

tl;dr who gives a shit what others think about your hobbies
>>

Maybe I'll order from him again around that time. My only order was mostly good, which included a $24 Avenger Strike Fighter. The Contemptor I ordered bad an unfixable mold slip and a miscast socket, and the arms for it are just as unusable. My favorite part about him is the fact he has little bits like possessed wings, old raptor packs, and molded bases.

I want a few seats of combi-weapons and Lascannons that are compatible with plastic HH models, and he's also one of the few who has them now. MI has the Lascannons (she's my favorite so far), but the only one I've seen with new styled combi is Alpharius.

Despite the fact that this is bait, I'm still going to illuminate all the things wrong with it for people who are just joining us and have no idea what the rules in 8th are:

>Brings a Titan formation to a "narrative" game
Formations no longer exist, and narrative games don't mean "unbalanced games where you can do whatever you want", that's Open games

>Opponent sends fabious bile into combat with them
>he hits first due to assaulting
>hits
>wounds on 6+ (because everything can do that in 8th
The only part that's correct

>His weapon is Instant Death
No longer a thing, weapons can deal multiple Wounds per hit or even Mortal Wounds which ignore saves and don't need to roll to Wound, but you'll never be removing a 10+ Wounds model in one hit with anything.

>Remove other 2 Titans after failing battle shock
Not even remotely how battleshock works. Titans aren't going to be squadroned together and even if they were they're not going to have a Leadership lower than 7.

it was more the advancement of polearms that made swords impractical, not bows. Bows were SUPER fucking useful, but not that great when the enemy got to your archers.

Angels of Death is true for every Astartes chapter, a dark past is not what angels are about, quite the opposite usually, since angels usually don't come from corrupted people but instead fall and then corrupt, having a bright past and those chaplains are nothing but overly aggressive, fear-mongering lunatics pulling more "muh heretic" excuses for doing dumb shit and killing people than even most Inquisitors can get away with.

Yea, I really want to order from Alpha because he shit actually looks great AND he posts samples of each cast. Sadly, I'm probably going to try and place another Z order just for little shit.

No. DOW2 Ret's final boss takes 3 hours to kill on the highest difficulty. This boss only takes like 5 minutes, it just requires more micromanagement than normies are used to. But it's still a bland and uninteresting tank&spank

By definition a Halberd is a polearm consisting of an axe and spear combination. The closest thing to what the GK have are spears. So yes, the Japanese Naginata is like the GK Force Not-a-halberd.

But the Naginata was a woman's weapon. :^)

It's a generic Khorne demon that looks like Diablo and basically just flies around spewing fire, occasionally landing for you to DPS him and then flying off again, showing up all throughout the level ad you walk from arena to arena. Final phase is the generic "damage when possible, interrupt his healing, damage even more, repeat" procedure.

My roommate plays music and is heavily into the local hardcore music scene. He will never play 40K but likes the concept of miniature models (he expressed considering getting into model railroads as a kid) but thinks my minis are cool and likes checking out whatever new ones I get. He did mention wanting to paint one sometime after seeing a bunch of old models I was stripping.

Most of my other friends are active players or are at least into some sort of hobby.

Any of my coworkers who have found out have no idea what Warhammer 40K is and the quickest/easiest way I have found to describe it is that it's similar to chess but with hundreds of pieces on each side instead of just 24. The only reason they even know about it is I work mornings on a specific day every week so I can get out in time to head down to the LGS to get some games in.

I hide my powerlevel around women though.

Honestly and without fanboyism? Necromunda. It was one of the first and offered some really great choices from generic cadian-like Warriors of the Imperium to the much more stylized ganger-reminiscent guardsmen - which opens up some real fun and styles for heavy weapon teams. You can keep the absolute generic any-worlder thing the cadians had in addition to opening the option for a much clearer "This is Necromundan" guardsmen.

They'd definitely need a line update, but I really would like a way that allows a way of differentiation, rather than the "all of these cadians are actually my custom regiment from xx...." we have today.

My blastmasters tend to shred riptides, I just hate Tau because the first time I ever had a game against one was a small tournament, we got to roll for how many objective markers we'd place d3 style, he got 2 I got 1, we both placed one on our own side of the field, and then he also placed one on his own side of the field, both behind cover.
I almost tabled him and he ran behind cover, he outnumbered me and if we'd been playing kill points of he was forced to come out in the open for the 3rd objective he'd have lost hard, he legit only won, by a single point, because he hid behind as much crap as possible to put everything he had outside of line of sight.
Never, in any other game, have I ever fought a more scummy player, and I played a game against a formation of Imperial Knights at under 1500p

I'd be less mad if the victory wasn't determined by those two singular dice rolls we made right at the start, and I'd still be a little mad if I'd gotten lucky and contested the point and gotten line breaker before the game ended.
>>
>>53140807

He killed exactly two of my things, two Chaos Spawn.
My Noise Marines, outfitted with Icon of Excess, Blastmasters and Sonic Blasters, were basically raping them.
I hate Tau because people call them the gun army, they're the hide like a bitch and pray you're playing to objectives and got lucky on objective placement army.

Sounds like you played against a mediocre Tau list against someone who thought for two seconds and focused on objectives.

I mean, if he was having that much trouble killing you, then it sounds like it was your fault for not rushing him down faster.

Also, not really an issue with Tau, since the same thing would have happened with any other army that did the same thing to you.

>>53141133
He was a scummy piece of shit who wasted time premeasuring every move he made and double checking line of sight, causing the game to end a turn early to make up for how long his turns were.
>>53141162
I did rush him down but by the time I started moving towards him he'd wasted so much game time measuring and checking line of sight that the game was forced to end early. He was a piece of shit.
No other player has ever done this, it was just the one Tau player. Only other game I had against Tau they got stomped because there was no objective markers to save them and the terrain had less buildings and more ruins that I could see through.

He sounds fucking awful, and probably why many argue for clocks for fairness. and yeah people can be super scummy in a tourney setting. Fuck em. Either tone it down and join us in rational place to enjoy our hobby or if you can't? realize that you are in fact the cancer of all mankind.
>>
If we took a Guardsmen's 24" lasgun range and converted it to real life, wouldn't they be horribly short-ranged weapons?

As a matter of fact, aren't pretty much all the scaled weapon ranges absolutely fucking atrocious? I think a 10 inch artillery piece should be able to shoot farther than 20 feet

>>
>>53141312
No fuck you I wanted to vent at that Tau player that the most scummy piece of shit player I ever fought was a Tau and it wasn't because 'muh riptides' or any of his other shitty units that got shredded by my noise cannons, it was because he was a piece of shit.
>>
>>53141333
Give me one reason why we shouldn't have realistic weapon ranges with severe penalties at ranges outside the original
>>
>>53141353
because then your gaming table would have to be as big as your house
>>
>>53141274
Next time just say your opponent long played. If you are raging about measuring things and playing for objectives in a objective based mission you just make yourself look bad.
>>
>>53141353
The only thing with range penalties would be pistols.
>>
>>53141353
Honestly I would be against that, like, you have unlimited range but outside of effective range you're only hitting on 6's. I think the designers just didn't want the added complexity.

Definitely sounds like a rule you could ask your opponent to try for a couple of games just to see if its fun.

it's not a problem of naming convention, it's a problem of you looking like a raging retard for no other reason than 'I disliked one game with this guy'.
You're starting to make me think of yesterday's "a d6 has no average"-anon, loosing all legitimacy/credibility because you can't stop using swear words for a single post.
I can understand you being a little upset remembering this game, and calling him a poo-head in a post, but 5 posts in a row can make people think you're obsessive
>>
>>53141353
Would clog the game up in regular 40k, but would probably be fine for stuff like SW:A or kill team.

>You're starting to make me think of yesterday's "a d6 has no average"-anon
Oh jesus what fresh hell did I miss.
>>
>>53141507
What's wrong with swear words? They're words, I'm using these ones in an insulting manner to describe this one cunt.
How the fuck does using swear words reduce legitimacy of a statement? We're all adults here, probably, we can swear, using a swear word as a fucking adjective doesn't do anything to the credibility of the sentence it's inside unless you're actually retarded.
>>
>>53141529
Oh my god not even that guy but chill out already.

You faced one dickhead tau player, we get it. This isn't your personal blog, start another conversion already.

And before some retard is like "hurrr t. tau player" I wouldn't be caught dead playing those fucking mary sue fish faggots, I play fucking nids. The bitching is just getting old.
>>

I use a classic genestealer blue-purple for the whole Fleet. I got a bunch of stuff secondhand off a friend when he quit nids that's still in red and tan Kraken scheme though, haven't gotten around to repainting all of it yet. Usually I'll just run one half or the other cuz it hurts my autism to have two different Hive Fleets on the table side by side even though they sometimes do this in the fluff.

>>
>>53141529
there's nothing wrong with swear words inherently, but overusing them just makes you look like an unstable individual.
Like you said, we're all adults here, and most adults don't feel the need to use 'fuck' or 'shit' every 3 words - it's more a marker of teenager's language actually (at least in my country). Dragging your language to high school level just make you look like one.
It also makes you closer to argumentum ad hominem and name-calling, while adding nothing to your argument.

yeah. also the new "chart" is more spread out which is good. You don't very quickly get to 2+/6+ wounding. T6+ is actually better off as well. Now that you need double S to get 2+ MCs and the like are much more rarely going to be wounded on 2+.
