PDF Share Thread # 65

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Thread replies: 355
Thread images: 124

It's Da Archive!
It Will Be The Best 8 Hours Of Your Gaming Career!
STEP 1 Go to the last thread if you haven't looked at it. there is lots of stuff, including filled requests directly posted to the board. http://boards.4chan.org/tg/thread/52901437#top
Look through the posted open source pdfs and pics and stuff.
Files posted directly to 4chan are not added to Da Archive, so go grab them now.

STEP 2 Grab your Documents: Da Archive is multiple documents.

Da Archive: Usually Getting Bigger. Hopefully better as well.

Da Archive Annex is where the new links get put. It will be raw and unpolished, with lots of coded links. Sorry for the bother.

Da Wish List is comprised of unfulfilled desires. Please look through it and try to help.

STEP 4 Get a coffee or a stronger beverage, get comfortable and browse through the blasted thing. It is less than 100 pages long. If you skim over the Personal Collections without really looking you will miss 8,000 pdfs.

I can't remember the name of that one surreal rpg that happens during the last days of our planet and the only surviving humans eke some sort of existence around a colossal tower that protects them from the surrounding cold and darkness that is filled with creatures from nightmares.

The players then venture forth into the darkness and try to piece together what happened to the world before it ends.

Fellow /tg/entlments, can you help me out?

I like you and your creative persistence - he wants the candlestix game of doom - can any kind anon provide? Don't link a trove, but if you could drop him a disposable upload, he'd really appreciate it.

STEP 7 If you want MORE, the previous threads are all archived in here:
http://archive.4plebs.org/tg/search/subject/PDF%20share/
There are other 4chan archives somewhere as well.
7chan might also be able to help.

STEP 42
Please give as much information as you can when you make a request. The more information you give (cover, a link to product, name of designer/writer/publisher) - the more chances someone might recognize it and upload it.
If you post a list of requests, Please make them a column, not a sentence.
ie
Zombie Hookerz
Lysergia Fur, The AnthroBrit Invasion RPG
Slutty NPCs for Everyone.
Dirty Backstabbers
Cheerleaders the Hottubbing
Les Mort, The Game of Sapphic Vampiresses (aka Lesbo Bloodsuckers)

Step 44 probably requires more alcohol, so go get some, assuming you are the correct age for your area and thus magically mature enough to handle it.

Step 45 Da Archivist Does Not Have An Opinion.
He sits on the side of a river and writes down everything that floats by.
Yachts, canoes, trees, trash, bodies... and he logs them all.

Opinions are best used when Anon asks; "What is a good X for Y?" If they ask, we Invite you to climb on your soapbox and give us your Best sales pitch. Many of us are quite interested in learning about them.

STEP 5 Please be patient with the Irrepressible Urchins who request without looking first. They are always a regular feature here. They help bump the thread, and they want to look at something that's not porn. They might even read it. You don't have to answer them, although that also bumps the thread.
You don't kick a puppy for not being housebroken. If they upset you, tell your monitor or your teddy bear. Please don't tell us about it. I understand your frustration, they used to drive me crazy. I would punch my teddy bear.

STEP Zillion Please post dead links and I will remove them to keep the archive up to date. Be specific - Include a Page Number -, there are dozens of copies of some Pdfs.

STEP 3.14 I believe 'Da Archivist' should be a title, not a tripcode.
The Phantom, V, and the Dread Pirate Roberts all live on beyond the abilities of one person.
I'm looking for a sidekick to train up in The Way,
(The Girl Robin would be perfect, loved that slingshot.)

5MB, 2984x2544px
Step: 33 1/3 Anons could also help by going through the lists and checking for dead links and notifying the board. This is mentioned again because it really helps us out.

STEP: the Next. If you have a fancy pdf that has unwanted clutter on it, here is one way to clean it.
Contact our resident Transmutation Wizard and politely ask him to clean a pdf. He will set his scrying device to accept pdfs and then you ship it to him. Magic occurs, then the pdf is purified.
[email protected]
By the way, Thanks Mageguru, you're the Best!

Please ONLY POST OPEN SOURCE PDFS DIRECTLY IN THIS THREAD. Link the others from elsewhere.
Excessive infractions could cause TPTB to remove the ability to post any pdfs at all.
Check for copyrights before you post anything directly.

Please be respectful and don't belittle others' requests because you dislike the game. Imagine the horrific RPGs I've run across; 'Dragon Dildo Warriors', ‘Smelly Fedora Gods of Angst’, and 'We're All Little Girls (Frilly Dresses Are Mandatory At the Table)' spring to mind.

You do not have to wait for a request to post a link, We love links.
We REALLY love links to Collections and Troves.
We love links to things we already have; “More Sources = More Gooder”

Extra Special Thanks to the Anon Brigade who do ALL of the digging, loading, and posting.

A Message From TheWiz!:
A little note to my beloved fellow ShareAnons:

Before going forward I'd like to first say that this post is not intended single anyone out for rebuke. Rather, this is simply an attempt to inform.

There's been more than a bit of complete link posting going on in this thread. Something we've decided to advise against given events of the recent past.

To guard against rapid takedowns by nasty little bots, we suggest encoding links thusly:

M3G4<dot>EnZed
/#F!GgZGlKAY!MRRUIHUqlPNXS58UTppRIQ!f1xFkT6D

The above link, for LotFP, is easy to decode but does not show up as a working link to the T-888's that lurk this ruined city with Plasma Rifles Primed. All you need do is separate everything before the .com (or .nz equivalent, in this case) from everything after with the return key, or replace dots with spaces/spellings, or replace vowels with numbers, or literally anything that makes it not show as a link.

Why not all of the above for the sake of Personal Paranoia?

This becomes most important when filling requests. Posting a full link right out of a large Trove/Collection that does not belong to you risks the whole thing, which could contain practically irreplaceable files, suffering thermonuclear termination. My personal favorite method is just to post a page reference for Da Archive or Da Annex, with a short instruction or two of how to find the desired item of treasure, letting the OP document do the job of guarding the links.

Thank you for your attention, and lets keep these precious and hard won piles of treasure around as long as possible, shall we?

(TL;DR You're only Paranoid if no one's out to get you!)

Things Anon Has Mentioned That are Beyond the Knowledge of Da Archivist
(I edited out the ‘Yarrs’ )

Where to U.p.l.o.a.d.?
“S3ndsp@ce, which I prefer, U53rscl0ud or M3G4 for large collections. Using public wifi would be excessive, imo, and carries its own risks. I usually don't bother, but if you are that concerned, use a VPN. I do.”
“HMA is free and easy disposable anon email.”

“Mega is relatively safe, a little research seems to back this. I have an active account registered using only email as do many, many others 'round heah. You would have to be an extremely flagrant repeat offender before notice would be taken past anything other than a take-down. As another anon mentioned, if you're that noid, use a VPN.
I've never heard of an ISP getting involved unlike trackable torrents and that is mostly because of Hollywood money.
With Mega you get 50 gigs with each standard free account.
It has functions for uploading a whole folder at a time, including everything inside it. So you just select like "A, B, and C" and it does the rest.”
Other sites used here recently include An0n<d0t>to, g0file<d0t>io, & upl0adman<d0t>c0m

Microscope is a small, hard-to-find game. It is not the Holy Grail, it is more like Where’s Waldo. The author puts a lot of effort into removing it from upload sites, it is usually taken down in an hour or two. It rarely lasts a full day.
You Should Just Go Here: It is like a slideshow demo, probably better/faster than reviewing the rules.
“Detailed example of Microscope game played out”
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1d_gLQUEB0WH4dsD3p2Cr7AJev78Fz2M9uknpgE_NszE/edit#slide=id.g9862c8690_0_10
If you still want it, maybe buying it is easiest.
I will respect the author’s wishes and encourage Anon to do the same. If the author gets annoyed enough at the myriad short-lived links to their game on these threads, they will complain loudly to New Moot who might remove our ability to post Pdfs at all.
'Kingdom', 'Follow', and 'Ten Candles' are also in this category, and will not be added to Da Archive.

It is human nature to obsess over that which is denied them, while ignoring that which is within easy reach.
If there are any anons with a copy of these games that felt they were worth writing a review of, I would gladly add them to the Big Wall of Text

Relatively Objective Review by Anon13:
“It sounds bloody intriguing. However...in practice, lulz ensue pretty readily - without a single narrative voice/plan/vision, it runs off the rails. Or, I should say, has the tendency to run off the rails - only a highly disciplined group, it seems to me, can pull it off; and even then the end result is just kind of a thing that is there - there's no real agency for the players to invest in emotionally. You get an interesting series of little tales and a possibly cool overall 'lump of story/myth, but there's no reason to come back to it after the game session: it's over and done; next session you make/play an entirely different concept. (You CAN continue to add to a previous game; but each game is so unique and differentiated from what came before that it may as well be totally different.)
This is what we found. Now, my players are bastards, so our experience may not be typical...but I feel that, deep down, most of us roleplayers are a bit bastardly; so I'm sure our experience is not unique...
I don't mean to shit on the game, as it sounds wicked as hell: but I feel it important to share my experience so you can at least approach it with yer eyes open. Microscope can turn into comedic one-upmanship pretty quickly.”

Anon Says:
“Yo, You, yes YOU. Do you want to help the archive? but you are too poor to buy pdfs or unable to fill requests?

Then start duplicating the collections here. Get yourself an up[oad account, save everything you like and put it back online on your account. The more who do this, the easier these files will be to find, and the safer they will be if a big collection gets taken down. Especially if you hear that a file is rare when it gets uploaded. “

Do you have a favorite system that you have collected? Consider becoming a Curator.
We have Generals who have taken on the giants of rpgs. Mageguru, TravellergeneralAnon, and others have tackled many of the games with 200+ products. We can never thank them enough. There are other games that are not as prolific. Amber, for example has about 30 titles. Da Archive has plenty of Amber scattered through it, but I don't think there is a single source for a complete set. A Curator that is familiar with a game has a distinct advantage over others. All it takes is adopt a game, try to build a complete set, and re upload it if needed.
It doesn't have to be a single thing. A collection of /tg/ and fan generated things would be cool, for example.
Time Wizards has 2 titles, add in Car Lesbians, Lesbo Jet Fighters, and 5 more things and call it good.
The main thing is a collection does not has to be removed from Da Archive, it just gets a new address every once in a while.

Images posted need to reflect a /tg/ theme to them.
Images of maps, castles, open source pdfs, One-Page Dungeons, gaming landscapes, and general gaming art are always welcome. Please avoid reaching the 150 image cap too early.
I like pictures of girls, I apologize if my heterosexuality offends the internet. Space Princesses, Chainmail Warriorettes, futuregirls in latex spacesuits, and the like are welcome. Photographs are great, lots of cute cosplayers and LARPers out there, as well as movie shots.
I actually went and read the rules about posting images. Anthropormorphic (furry) images are only allowed on /b/. That means that technically a /tg/ thread can have pics of goblins and drow, but shouldn't have lizardmen, werewolves, or gnolls. I am not really worried about it, I believe our Janitor understands the practical aspects of life and is doing a stellar job. As long as the catgirl is holding a sword and not a sex toy I think we are honoring the intent of the rules. I will be diligent in making sure that any art I post has a gaming theme.

Some Friendly Tips from a on and off Request Filler, as a Bonus:
Try removing things like "The" and "A" from the start Title and searching again. Try searching for just one word from the Title after that.

Failing all of these, open up the Collections in the first section that state a large number of folders but only list a small portion of them.

Next try searching things from the same core system. Looking for a rare Tri-Stat based game? Look at a BESM trove or two.

Looking at troves for games that come from the same publisher works, too. Need you some Red Tide or Spears of the Dawn? More than one Trove marked Stars Without Number will contain those.

This is what our labors here are all about.

I love digging out rare and hard to come by requests, don't get me wrong. The Treasure Hunt aspect pleases me, for sure, and I get not having the time to dig for hours on end yourself.

But the Archive should always be stop Numero Uno, Friend Anons.

REMINDER TO ALL: A quick CTRL-F in Da Archive should be a step that precedes asking for help.

Thank you, and enjoy your PDFs.

sorry that wasn't me :( the rpg I'm looking for is more surreal and far far into the future at the end of Earth's existence. It's weird in the way Kult and Noumenon are weird.

The tower around which the last of the humans reside is also a repository of knowledge, but no one remember who built the tower or what mechanism is keeping the darkness (apparently supernatural in nature) at bay. The tower is also the only source of light left since the Sun has died out eons ago...

Why not jam all that text into a pastebin, an image, or a PDF, along with a warning that, if you ask question that's already answered there, you'll be ridiculed and/or turned into a small fluffy animal for children to tease and harass?

As much as I personally dislike forums where 99% of questions are answered with:

"Did you read the sticky with my 16,000 page manual on the history of X? Do that first, then maybe I'll deign to give you the one word answer to which Y works best for Z"

There should be a middle ground, before we get to that level, that doesn't involve the OP having to make a dozen posts every time the thread is recreated.
>>
>>53083375
Unfortunately not, maybe only the last green wall and then I just skimmed it. I agree with anon above, put it in a pastebin or front page of the archive, and then just use one or two posts to say what's new. Newbies won't read the green wall just like they won't read the intro or a pastebin, but at least its there and you can still point to it and say "duh" to those who continue to ask the same stupid questions, that they always will regardless of what you do.

The wall text has grown like an over-fertilized patch of weeds since 2015, there was a lot of fluff. I have 5 posts that need to go up anyway, (assuming the two info pics are useful) I will probably make one more image and condense it down to 6 posts. I started putting less of the text in each post so it would not conceal part of it. I also used to have to post repeatedly to keep it on the front page to get attention or it would die.

>>
>>53109876
Huh thats weird. My current version is searchable, although i hated whoever did the bookmarks on it (it lacked some stuff). So while i was working on codex, i also redid the bookmarks on gold so the feature list is: Bookmarks, searchable text for both versions. Darker text for codex (it actually might make it harder to read in some areas but its a scan, c'mon don't be dicks), also i applied my mad paint skills to the cover to make it look better which didn't work at all. cover is shitty. more shitty then before? Yup. Sorry.

What may be 'Same Old' to you may be brand new to those having their first look at our thread.

This is why, despite the fact that I'm doing research for a complete Open Source RPG trove, I often bump with the old gems that hooked me into this thread in the first place.

I've never once argued against cheesecake appearing in the thread, and I don't plan to anytime soon. Heck, I don't even care if it's /tg/ related past the fact that I have respect for the creator of the thread, and the rules he chooses to apply to it. You can post, and argue in favor of, all the babe pics you can get away with.

Just don't go arguing against my favorite type of game, or any game sharing for that matter. That part feels like the crossing of a line in a thread that exists specifically for sharing games. Most especially when there are a dozen girly pic threads a day on every board of every forum of every site in nerd culture and beyond.

I play a lot of these types of games now.

When I first came to my group all they wanted was 3.PF because it's all they'd ever played before I became DM. By level 7 I was quite frustrated at all the complexity there was to keep up with, even just playing off of the tiny fraction of the total content in the SRD. I didn't know how to bring it up because they seemed to be having such a blast. Ended up running some lighter stuff for fill in sessions when players were out sick and it just sorta transitioned to being the norm.

DMing stopped being a chore and now we trade off the job of running the game from person to person for little 1-5 session stories in open source, ultralight, and OSR games. Lots of random generated plot elements make the job less daunting. Also changing characters often, and fast character creation, even has my group cheering heroic deaths where they used to treat death as unthinkable.

Wouldn't mind playing/running a more crunchy game again, but at the same time I'm having a blast with the variety of our current setup.

I'm looking for 3 really trippy games that I bought while on a bender that I had to return. The games themselves seemed fricken crazy, I was loath to return them.

The first one had all these different alignments and all this handdrawn art, it was all in black and white and had a softcover. There were dragon people featured prominantly in the alignment section and it was a space fantasy game more along the lines of classic fantasy. I think the cover might have been yellow? I don't remember if it had some art on it or not.

The second one was a book about angels that WASN'T In Nomine, it looked like it was written by people who genuinely supported the christian faith. And no, it wasn't watchdogs on the prarie, it had angels on and inside the cover, and I think it had sections that were written in gold lettering? (Not sure) The cover was mostly blue from what I remember. It was a hardcover.

The last one had a weird device on the cover and had "sun" in the title. It was a dark blue hardcover. The machine on the cover looked spooky weird, like looking at three dimensional object, I don't know if they printed a cgi image or what, but it had this sort of aether device set against a clear blue sky, near a lake? by a forest? it looked really trippy.

Thanks, always glad to hear someone's actually playing something I posted.

Here's one called Heroes Against Darkness that I just happened by tonight, unfortunately too big to post directly:

http://heroesagainstdarkness.blogspot.com/p/heroes-against-darkness-downloads.html

Only spent about 10 minutes skimming it but here's what I've seen so far: A Big, Extra-Crunchy d20 game that seems shockingly large and complex for something licensed under Creative Commons. A 200+ Page Core Book, with loads of artwork, featuring 8 races and 11 classes, plus a second Print-Friendly version of said book. Also an introductory solo adventure, pregen characters in various race/class combos for levels 1, 3, and 5, and a toolkit for creating your own custom classes.

Crunch isn't exactly my thing, nor are generic fantasy settings for that matter, but for others who are into those this looks pretty crazy for a freebie RPG.

Getting so much for free makes me nervous. I feel like I'm going to post it without fully reading it, only to discover it was written by a serial killer, or contains unacceptably creepy content of some kind. However, so far it looks like a huge d20 game and supplements that's 100% free, so post it I shall.

Let me know what you folks think of it.

I know drivethrurpg usually adds watermarks, but do they add metadata as well?

Also if there is no visible watermarkn does that mean there isn't one?

I have some pdfs that I was going to post and I was wondering if it was a waste of a cleaner's valuable time, if there is no visible watermarks.

Pretty neat, but I'd like to point out that unless your game is all about grizzly bears, which on a cursory read it is not, you probably want to use "grisly" rather than "grizzly," since the latter means "flecked with grey hairs."

Does anyone have VOID? Description from the site:

"VOID1.1 is an exciting 25mm miniature tabletop battle system for 2 or more players. The game is set in a universe where the human home worlds of Viridia, Ironglass and Prime battle for colonies in the farthest reaches of the galaxy. A fourth power, VASA, is the policing body of panhumanic space. It protects the interstellar space lanes and attempts to arbitrate between the ambitious and imperialistic home worlds. With the recent emergence of the alien Koralon race it remains to be seen whether humanity can put aside its petty rivalries and avoid falling victim to this new threat."

I would very much appreciate it if someone has/shares this.
