Eldars are one of the good examples of the uncanny valley imho; I guess that with their over-symmetrical facial features and too perfect body proportions there is a similarly alien body language that additionally puts us off. We might appreciate their grace but all these traits make them too "repulsive" for our reptile brain for it to willingly like them. And that just makes them even more awesome in my book.

It's been outright stated in multiple codices that Eldar are almost universally found attractive by humans. It's not a matter of them thinking they're attractive or them being psychic, they're just very very attractive to humans. If that's not grimdark enough for you, or something, then just deal with it.

Oddly enough, when I think of how eldar look, it's this pathfinder character that comes to mind.

I'm not a fan of Wayne's art style, but I feel like this character's design encompasses pretty much all the good stuff stretched across the various art of eldar, and encapsulates everything that characterizes them in their written descriptions.

She has the long-limbed, lean, just-a-little-too-slight to be normal physique. She has a facial structure that's definitely a little shy of the human norm, but remains identifiable with and pretty. She has those glassy, dark eyes that hide her true intentions and make the subject of her attention confused. She has basically zero T&A, almost unnaturally blemishless features, and some kind of psychic-looking gem thing in her forehead that seems very eldar. Her expression is one of disregard. The only issue is that her ears are a little long.

I know nothing about who this character actually is or if she's anything like an eldar (I'm willing to bet she's some manner of dickass rogue or swashbuckler, probably highly sarcastic because this is edgefinder), but she has the look down.

Eldar and Warhammer Fantasy elves are supposed to be uncanny-valley perfect and have entirely black eyes, as well as the pointy ears.

Amongst elves in Warhammer Fantasy, being born with a mild physical deformity was enough to make one of the greatest wizards amongst them an outcast and have him take human concubines. It's safe to assume that the eldar are no less "picture-perfect" and arrogant.

And with eldar tech or elven magic, as well with their inherent physical superiority, the idea of scars like that is all but absurd.

If we take it from earth animal biology, all fetuses are female before they differentiate into males due to influence by Y chromossome and hormonal levels of the mother.

This would mean all eldar, if following that same principle, would be all feminine, women more so.

So a bit like human young boys before sexual maturity, with soft voices, no body hair, slender features. Likely more muscular and taller, but without as much difference.

if anything this is what dumbfound us the most about women, while men all can generally agree on what is a beautiful woman (or a beautiful man), the shit we see women seeing as attractive is just a huge "what the fuck?".

Men are more visual, women are more about their perception, which is why womens opinions on what men are attractive vary far, far more than men. Men reach consensus with ease, women don't.

We just don't like to think about another guy as pretty, because not only it gives a lot of people a feeling of insecurity, it also makes us face with the fact that guy X is more attractive/prettier than we are, and we rather not think about it.

But we can tell. I cant see why wouldn't a guardsman be able to tell that on someone else.

Unless im misreading you, thats what I mean by women having far wider variety of what they consider to be attractive, and many times it has nothing to do with physicality. Men focus more on physical attributes thus reach consensus easier.

Women on the other hand... social standing, humor, achievements, her own perception of the person and so forth, they vary a lot.

This does not mean that we cannot, as men, tell when a guy is well shaped, lacking a better word.

Well, ofc. Intelligence does not mean infallible, nor does it prevent stupid mistakes or holding dumb ideas. Especially when intelligence is high, the more prone to things such as hubris one is.


Intelligence does not mean right, it means being able to perceive more from a situation, process it all faster, but reaching a conclusion faster does not mean its the right conclusion.

Considering too many factors isn't always good, can become confusing and even paralyzing. Eldar are in general sharper than humans, but just as prone to stupidity and fault.

If you look at humans we consider to be the most intelligent, and read a lot into them, you will see a lot of stupid dumbass decisions/opinions. Don't see why it wouldnt be the case for Eldar.
