Does looter scooter have any place in legacy?
>>
>>53055124
No, the cards barely powerful enough to see Modern play. The only reason it saw a Standard ban is that Standard is so laughably underpowered now that the moment a powerful card comes around its a mainstay of every deck since theres no reason not to play it unless its not in your colors. With Copter being colorless it easily slotted into every deck pretty much but the cards not all that great neither is Reflector or Newmrakul.
>>
>>53055124
Some stompy lists run it. I've seen it in Colorless Eldrazi and Thalia Stompy.
>>
>>53052924
I'm interested but I know nothing about storm. Is there a reason ad nauseam is only in SB for this list? Is it still worth the green splash and decay in SB with miracles gone?
>>
>>53055755
This. When you make every viable answer card at least 3+cmc, it's no wonder when good cards get all the representation. Same issue in modern as well. When creature's etb effects are getting better and better, the reason to have counterspell increases. Also part of the reason why thoughtseize and inquisition are so good.
>>
>>53056286
Ad naus is mostly a tool for speed, so it is boarded in for matchups where you want to go fast, like DnT. As for the green splash, I think it's fine, abrupt decade is still a good card and still hits lots of creature/artifact lock pieces. I don't think it's necessary but without it you probably take up moreally sideboard space with a couple fatal pushes and a couple ingot chewers or the like, instead of a couple decays.

Honestly, if I ever were to play a storm deck, it'd be Dragonstorm because it tickles my big dumb Timmy inside.

But if you ever wanted a meme deck for the Legacy General, ours is Desert Power.
>>
>>53061864
Than friendo, i gotta ask, what is desert power
>>
>>53061864
I thought the original meme deck was Lich.
>>
>>53062280
It's a worldgorger dragon deck based around sunscorched desert and piranha marsh.
PROS: it's cheap, part of your combo is your manabase so you have more space for disrupion.
CONS: it's a meme.

>>53058531
Storm is a deck you basically have to study in order to be proficient in it. It's not a deck you can just pick up and play like delver. That said, I can't think of a more rewarding deck to play. You should proxy whatever you're missing if your lgs allows them.
>>
Thinking of building Lands as my final MtG deck. Good idea?
>>
>>53063451
That depends on a few things but it would net you a pile of cards that will age nicely. Diamonds and tabernacle are highly collectable. The investment will be steep if you don't already have most of the cards though.
>>
>>53063451
Why lands and what's the context surrounding this being your last deck?
>>
>>53058588

Black Moon? Black Moon!

>>53062676

I actually like Fallen Empires.

>>53063451

Looks super-fun, but it's a bit needlessly expensive if you don't have the Ports or Tabernac.
>>
>>53063537
Thats what I was seeing. Pricy deck but ill grab the Tabernacle last even if it jumps in price.
>>53063562
Because I like that its a non blue deck thats competitive and its a novel concept of being almost all lands its either that or D&T because I like aggro. It'll be the last deck because I already have a ton of MtG decks
Burn in both Legacy and Modern
Titanshift in Modern
UR Storm in Modern and a really pimped out Teysa, Orzhov Scion deck for EDH
>>
>>53063656
Death and taxes is not an aggro deck, it is a control deck
>>
>>53063689

>>
>>53063656

>>53063775

>>53063689

>>
>>53064554
It's not uncommon for aggro decks to contain removal. You will note that eldrazi packs chalice and to a lesser extent, thorn. These effects have simply been condensed into the creatures. >>53063964 is entirely correct. However DnT is most concisley catagorized as an aggro deck. Splitting hairs over pikers vs 5/5s is silly.

>>
>>53068590

>>
>>53068922
What deck are you playing that runs deathwish?
>>
>>53068946
Lich, unironically.
>>
>>53068937
Well I think they serve different purposes. Bob is there to draw cards, while pyromancer is supposed to be a win condition by itself. However, usually if you are trying to win with pyromancer you need to be going off anyway. I suppose it is a way to still win even if your payoff gets countered, but then again some decks bring in answers to empty the warrens which would also hit your elementals. Another consideration is that pyromancer forces you to fetch out your red source, which I think is a real downside. That being said, some omnitell lists run pyromancers in the board, so it is certainly not unheard of. The best way to find out is to try both, test it out and see which one you like better.

I know I'm late to the party, but mom is real good in infect. I just played a ton of games against grixis delver, and it was good in the obvious way of blanking removal, but it also let glostener elf attack a few times.

also, invocations are super pretty. I wasn't in the thread during spoilers, what are people's opinions on them.
>>
>>53069275
The consensus was that the art was good, but the frame and font are just atrocious. The frame makes the art seem small and the "3D" effect makes it look like some shitty ps2 cg. The name and typeline are practically unreadable. Also that they don't look like magic cards. But then people got a hold of the real cards, and they thought that they looked actually passable in real life.

2 Flusterstorm
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Leyline of Sanctity
1 Pithing Needle
1 Lich
1 Dismember
1 Nourishing Shoal
1 Summoner's Pact

What does Veteran Explorer add?
>>
>>53072378
>What does Veteran Explorer add?

Theres no way to explain it without you actually playing the card. You haven't had a real erection until you've cast a Cabal Therapy with a Vet on the board.
>>
>>53072536
I feel like it's a totally different deck, one is creature and lands based whereas the other is spells based.
>>
>>53072378
Well for one thing vet/therapy gives you decent disruption maindeck. Culling the weak ramps you up to lich mana with just one ritual. Plunge into darkness functions like a tutor, but can also play like a draw spell with loch on board if you have a creature or 2, just be careful not to go too ham and exile your winons. Still testing it but I like that it can play a slightly slower game and expect to naturally get to lich mana. Alternatively you could play diabolic intent and actually tutor. Probably the mana base should involve 4x misty, 4x verdant instead of deltas, but it's fine. Give it a try, see what you think. I'd love to put some real time into testing the deck, it always felt like it was on the verge of jumping from tier 8 to tier 3.

Someone clue me in why some people run Blood Moon in BRanimator sideboard instead of running something decent like DNSolver? I just don't fucking get it, the card really doesn't fit with the game plan of let's end this on turn 1/kill DRS with Brutality and win the turn after.
>>
>>53076819
T1 blood moon wins games just as well as T1 grizzlenizzle
>>
>>53076847
Against which decks exactly? Any deck with DRS and FoW can both fix their mana for Decay/draw basics while staying alive long enough. The odds of turn 1 Moon are very low since you need both mana acceleration and a red fix and if your hand does nothing besides casts it you're not keeping it.
>>
>>53076885
Detahrite only works if there are lands in the grave. Fetch land+Drs on the play still won't make mana through moon. They also still only have 4x FOW and you have chancellors, so moon is just as likEly to go through as a t1 reanimate. Plus there are other match ups where moon is a strong card, and many of those match ups don't have force.
>>
>>53076885
Good luck even casting deathrite vs. a turn one blood moon/chalice. Most decks that are trying to cast blood moon are doing it fast so they get maximum value by denying fetching into basics or using DRS on lands in the yard. There is a very good reason that even with DRS BUG deck fear blood moon.
>>
>>53077077
I meant fethand+Dr's on the draw won't make mana through t1 moon
>>
>>53075452
It's your fault wizards printed ridiculously good grave hate. All I want to do is reanimate like a good boy. But noooo, grave-troll insists on smoking cigarettes on the roof so now no one is allowed up their durring lunch time.
>>
>>53077211
Well dredge has always waxed and waned through grave hate. Slowly people forget that it was a thing, they believe DRS is enough to keep them at bay, theyd rather have those two slots for something cute, BAM DREDGE TAKES THE GP 5 DECKS TOP 32 THEY KING IS BACK PACK 4 RIP 4 SURGICAL
>>
What are lands worst matchups besides degenerate combo decks? Im putting the deck together for local stuff and want to be sure before I pull the trigger on diamonds/ports/tabernacle.

Normal meta is goblins, dredge, DnT, some stoneblade, jund and the occaisional strangers coming in. The shop owner sometimes plays with whatever meme he puts together, theres still 3-4 people out from the top ban.
>>
>>53078330
Miracles used to be a poor matchup, but now its primarily just the combo decks that are bad. Unfortunately, the combo mathcups are really, really bad. Not unwinnable, but I would argue the majority of them are 70/30 or worse. However, lands is basically guaranteed to outgrind any fair deck, the wasteland + loam package wrecks control and greedy 4 color decks while pf + grove shits on creatures.
>>
>>53078330
Burns a really bad matchup, Combo decks too.
>>
>>53078330
I think it's safe to say that as long as people are trying to win by beating down with creatures, lands will perform alright. Pull the trigger bitch.
>>
>>53072106

just print out proxies and play the damn game

your playgroup shouldn't frown upon more people playing top tier decks

if you want to play in a tournament, buy real cards
if you want to keep the format alive / see what it's like, p r i n t p r o x i e s

I lose to proxy decks but it doesn't make me mad, I want to play against people piloting best decks not my friends' shitty good stuff.deqs

This holy shit how do people not realize that Legacy players are dying for more games to jam? I do not care if your deck has proxies and if you proxy the expensive cards and just buy the commons the deck looks fine and you slowly build it for actual tournament play.
I will play Legacy with anyone regardless of proxies and im sure most people will too.

Heard a podcast saying that the problem with non rotating formats is that they take too much time to study where as Standard doesnt but I find this to be the exact opposite. Standard is constantly changing and cards constantly coming in, it takes a lot of time to keep up with normally when there arent just two top decks like recently and you are constantly needing to buy new cards when your deck rotates or falls extremely out of favor like how GW tokens fell out of the meta. Legacy on the other hand has had the same top decks (RIP Miracles) for the last few years, the cards that are playable have always been playable and you dont need to buy a new deck every rotation.

Just had a real interesting match vs lands with my BUG Vet Doomsday list. Game 1 they GQ'd my lands 3 turns in a row and I kept grabbing basics. They didn't play a single meaningful spell except Loam, getting back GQs. Game 2 they were light on mana but had Depths/Stage on board. I needed to try to win through their Sphere of Resistance, and needed the land from a Vet trigger, but they would have gotten enough mana from it to activate depths. At some point they tap their stage to cast a Mox Diamond, trying to get the mana to activate stage. this gives me the opening I need. Flashback therapy, cast doomsday, and play out an LED. My pass the turn pile has just enough mana to pay the tax from sphere.

Veteran explorer is an interesting card. It changes the way people play to try to take advantage of it, or prevent you from getting advantage out of it.. I got a little lucky there that they didn't draw a land and instead drew diamond which gave me the opening. My hopes aren't super high for the tournament this weekend, but i'm winning a fair number of my matches in testing. The real question is, where do I go if the deck flops?

Just sell bad cards that are overvalued like Tarmogoyf to buy good cards that are overvalued like Underground Sea. If you've got Expeditions/Inventions/Exodias, those are good cards to unload.

Anyone know how much I should sell 8 fat packs full of cards for, plus a fat pack full of lands and one with unique land, multicolor cards and artifacts?

Finaly got to try my pox list. 3 round went 1-2 on a bye. Played aginst lands and just sat their with my thumb in my ass until I died. Then my second match was against nicfit. I porbably played it poorly, but veteran explorer makes things hard. If they have dude and i make him sack one, he just sacks explorer, gets more land, then gets even more, bigger dudes. Never really realized how much or pox's removal lets them choose what they get rid of. I like the deck, but i had kind of a shit night.

also, i did get to sinkhole a creature land. guy made a 5/5 land with nessias ability, and I got to kill it. That was actually kinda fun.

>>53088571

As another Pox player who has had to go up against Lands every single Legacy Tournament let me just say you need to prioritize the fuck out of some graveyard hate cards. I don't care if it's Leyline of the Void or fucking Coffin Purge, that shit will out-grind the hell out of you.

I'm still working on my list too. Just remember with Legacy there's a huge learning curve with whatever deck you choose, even Burn. You're gonna lose a bunch before you build up the experience to make better decisions in WHEN to play cards and how to tweak your deck for your individual matchups.

I dont have any surgical, i really need to get some. I opened with leyline of the void game 2, but he griped it pretty early on and i couldn't find my other 3. I used to play burn, then got board with it and went to titan post. Then titan post lost its best match up AND 4 cards, so I went to this. People say loam pox would be better, but i dont want to sink the cash into it, and i like the mono black feel.
>>
>>53094193
I've played mono-black pox a bit, and I think the deck is good if you predict your metagame very accurately. It is adaptable but not great in an open meta. I've been playing around with a small Entomb package in my list to try to work on this.

Yeah, Krosan Grip can be a bitch if you're trying to do Leyline of the Void or Tormod's Crypt to get rid of their Life from the Loam. That's why next time I'm going to experiment with Coffin Purge, as Lands is extremely limited in the way it can interact with spells (The guy I play only runs Trinisphere).

The biggest issue with Pox is it is a control deck that moves at Sorcery Speed, so I find it can be extremely unforgiving in certain games. A spicy piece of tech I want to try out is running Desolation. My thought process is by running that and leaning heavier on parts of the deck that don't require any mana to eat at opponent's life and resources (Liliana, Nether Spirit, Wasteland, Bitterblossom), or setting up a recurrable land to sacrifice with Dakmore Salvage or Crucible of Worlds, I can abuse the symmetry of the card.

Coffin Purge is just worse than Surgical if you're trying to get Life from the Loam, specifically.

It can be, but I can also cast Coffin Purge from my graveyard, and I'm frequently sending stuff there with Dakmore Salvage and Lili. Like I said, I want to try it out. I'm also running Lost Legacy in my sideboard, so that can rip Life from the Loam out from the deck too without having to worry about it hitting their graveyard first.

Oh it's a sleeper alright. A real fucking snooze.
>>

Honestly, it's not a bad little value engine. The fact that it can grab any land in Legacy is pretty useful. It's also cheap enough at a one drop that its fairly disposable if your opponent decides to target it with their removal.
>>
Hello, how's legacy going, given up on buying in but curious
>>
>>53101487
I run two in D&T. Its a value engine, it makes sure you dont get mana screwed, and you can tutor up Port or Wastelands. Tutoring up a Wasteland against Delver or BUG decks feels good.
>>
>>53101921

It's been the most enjoyable format I've played in. The people who play it are super chill, it only fires off twice a month, and there's loads of spicy tech.

This is definitely true by and large, however it seems like the bad seeds in legacy are real bad, like near EDH levels of bad.
