Killing a tank doesnt always blow it up, its pretty rare anyways.
Even if you hit the ammo dumps in a tank youre more likley to just ignite the inside of the tank and kill the crew than cause a massive explosion.
Most of the time, a shell would hit the tank, and either:

>shatter the hull and make the tank unustable
>destroy electronics and make the tank unusable
>Pierce the hull and kill all the crew while the tank still remains somewhat usable
>Destroy the turret/main gun and make the tank combat inactive, usually causing the tank to retreat or ram other tanks in the case of soviet tank crews
>ignite the ammuntion and kill the crew
>bounce off

The only things that can easily blow up a tank in 1 shot would be a 100+mm fucking gun or something ridiculous that can go through 2 tanks, its really hard to blow up a tank.

>>53042746
Engines are like the most bulletproof parts even of a regular car. The cilinderblock is one solid, massive lump of metal, good luck shooting through that.

Even shooting through a regular fuel tank doesn't cause explosions, there needs to be flames involved
>>
>>53042695
Not so much contained as 'the more the Orks are focused on Armageddon (the system overall, not just the planet), the less likely they're going to be fucking up the rest of the Imperium.

>>
>>53042746
If you shoot it in the engine youll disable the tank most likley, cant move, shoot, turn,do anything, its turned very rarely will it explode as >>53042795 says
Hilarously enough, if you do hit a tank in its fuel comparment, in the case of some armoured cars, and you caused a spark, youd more likley have the spark get drowned by all the gas than ignite it.
The only way tanks explode is if a shell is powerful enough to both go through the entire engine, and ignite something in the tank, like ammunition, which is fucking crazy hard to do, The Tiger tanks, The kv2s tanks, and churchills do it though, as well as most big SPA tanks could also.
>>
>>53042825
Tanks aren't alive, so a death ray doesn't do anything to them
>>
>>53042822
8thE Space Marine stats are Ld 7.

Everyone is bumping everything else down commensurately.
Probably not legit, but if it is there'll be hell to pay.
>>
>>53042825
I feel like a death ray would just vaporized the parts it hit, not even crush, or pen, or blow it up, just bascially part of the tank dissapear.

>>
>>53042816
Thats only found in Modern Kinetic penetrators which are traveling significantly faster than shells from say the Second World War.

Spalling is likely not what causes the air to ignite, looking at how a HESH shell operates, spall is just basically shrapanel deadly to the crew.
>>
>>53042687
With ww2 American tanks a glancing hit would kill all the crew since the shitty rivets on the inside would pop out and ping ping ping
>>
>>53042845
The point there is more that Guardsmen in vehicles will have higher leadership to account for the fact they're better protected.

If the go up to 8, which is perfectly reasonable, then they'll be entirely safe from morale barring any modifiers.

Space marine tanks might end up with 9, making them even more resistant to such things.

And of course if you're that worried, you can always run your tanks separately instead of in a squadron.
>>
>>53042906

Today's post kinda implied squadrons don't exist anymore anyway

>>53042816
Short answer? No, not really.
An engine is a giant block of gas, or ignitable fluids. Theyre more metal, rubber, plastic in a tank then raw combustibles. Most engine have their fuel lines located in a way so that youd need to go through the entire metal bits of the engine to hit, which is very difficult.
Engines were mostly located in the back of the tank as well, and most combat was in the front of sides of tanks, if you got a rear shot youd more likley just disable the engine and neutralize the tank.
>>53042888
Yeah, its much easy to pen and kill the crew of a tank than try to blow it up, you dont want to destroy an enemy tank. You get a free mostly in good condition tank, if its fucked, you get free tracks, electronics, engine blocks, wheels for your crewmen and tanks to do field repairs with.
The only bad part is removing the mess inside...
>>
>>53042812
The fuel leaks
This causes fumes mixed with air which then ignite
Explosions are rarer but just look good and are cheaper using spare parts etc than the more common total burning of a still solid car

Youre thinking of Italian tanks, shermans were one of the safest tanks of the war, russians using Sherman on the lend least program recalled how nice it was when a shell hit their tank no one would get injured from the kinetic force or shock of the shell, unlike in t34 tanks and such at the time.
Italian tanks where living tank grenade, you get hit and the rivets kill everyone inside, even if it just glances the tank and bounces off.

You dont aim a tank like a rifle. Its much hard to score a direct hit with a tank shell on a tiny ass man than a tank.
Its also a waste of ammo, why waste your time loading to HE to kill 1 or 2 dudes running away, when another tank could show up with you ass exposed, or try to get a direct hit with an AP shell and waste it?

>Now at the end of the turn you roll a d6 and add that to your casualties if that is higher than your LD you lose the difference.

This is going to destroy imperial guard forces. Considering tac marines are Ld 7 now one can expect guard will be LD6 for soldiers and LD7 for sergeants.
This means if I lose one guy I have the chance to lose another the same turn on a 6.
If I have a conscript blob that loses 10 guys to enemy fire I will auto lose and additional 5+d6 dudes.

the combination of their beast like intelligence (even if guided by the hive mind, accounts to nothing more than an ant colony without any of the ability to reason or communicate like other works, a la Enders Game series) and no goals or higher motives than "eat everything" (possibly don't be eaten) makes then a mindless xenomorph NPC monster race.

Which, mind you, isn't a bad thing. Anyone playing Xenos races arnt playing in the limelight lore wise, and having the endless waves of aliens makes a great game thematically.

Yriel and Iyanananana~ had an encounter with the Hivemind itself and realized that it has a singular fathomless hatred for them both. The Spear sucked the portion of the Hivemind in the Tyrant and then latched on to the Hivemind itself and started draining it. This actually wounded the Hivemind. A minor wound but the shock of being actually hurt for the first time in forever caused it to throw a fit.

You're not supposed to write nids from their perspective. Nu-GW writers are shit.

Basic Orks are pretty bad, but no one plays them really.

Savage Orks are really powerful, they have strong blobs, don't tend to take too much damage in the battleshock phase, and they put out a ton of shooting.

The only way a tank would dramatically explode is if being hit were to cause it's stored ammunition to cook off. That is nearly always the cause of these dramatic explosions where the pressure causes the turret seal to break.

This was uncommon but did happen, if a round destroyed the engine it may cause a fire if the fuel were to ignite but more likely the tank would stop and everyone would bail out since you're a sitting duck.

Oh you're targeting me with AP3 and somehow I don't have cover. I either (1) Die or (2) Jink, Turboboost out of LOS, and wait until end of game to snipe and Objective.

No, the cionography is already modeled onto them. You're better off with a start collecting box. Ironically, the Dark Angels Gauntlet Tactical Squad (The one with a Rhino in it) would be even better for you, as it's just a regular SM kit with a DA upgrade-sprue, and the Rhino is basically free.

There's your problem, autist. The only time this should happen is if their army is close to the table edge, to be cornered by your army.

All this discussion is irrelevant, IRL if your tank got penetrated once the crews would outright run away from it.
It doesnt matter if they were pesky russians or wehrmacht panzertruppen. Once they realize there is someone out there that just managed to penetrate them and cause some damage chances of getting hit again in the following 10-15 seconds is very high. So they try to bail out.

Picture the situation like this

>You are driving your tank on the countryside, 15 kms from the rendezvous point
>your vision is very low inside the tank, you see very little.
>The crew compartments are cramped and you can barely move on your seat. The farthest you can bring your hand up is over to head which sits about 15cms below the roof of your drivers compartment
>Sudddenly your tank gets hit by something and you hear a crack followed by a loud concussion.
>It takes some moments to get a hold of your-self. There is still a concussion in your ears.
>Your vision is blurry, you look up to your tank commander, there is no response.
>The smell inside is acrid ,there is still dust in the air , it is hard to breathe.
>Other crew mates are shouting, and finally your vision clears and you see red.
>The tank commanders head is stuck by what looks like a piece of armor itself, that got cracked. The piece pins a part of his head to the inside of the cupola. His body is hunced over his seat.

>Someone vomits.

Jink isn't 100% and if they move out of Los you shoot something else. Jet bikes are very good but they aren't unbeatable.

Another cheese tactic I used was the formation that allows vanguard vets to charge out of deepstrike on turn 1 or 2. If the eldar player went second you just hold the vets until turn 2 and then decimate his bikes once they deploy

Using the word 'balance' in their promotional material does not mean that they will make a genuine effort to balance the game, far less succeed. All it tells you is that they think describing the new edition as 'balanced' will make their customers feel more favourable towards it. Now, that's better than not even grasping that their customers want balance, which is the impression you might have got previously, but a far cry from actually delivering what they promise.

What are some of the minor things that can make a sister go penitent ?
>>
>>53044698
>D3 mortal wounds
>on a boy
>kills 5 out of the 30boy mob
>mob rule
>crump a couple boys and keep fighting
>twist eldar's heads off
face it anon, you might have to actually learn how to play the game this edition instead of googling eldar tourney winners
>>

>Antioch
Surely you meant to say saint katherine
>>
>>53044617
well they have functional leadership 7 thanks to their musician. They also have 2 wounds each so they aren't going to be taking as many casualties as you'd expect. They also afaik have heroes that help manage battleshock results.

Wot can we say? They're really good for expressing Ork amusement.

Good job on the drawings anon!

>if she feels like she just hasn't been devoted lately
>shirking responsibilities and that resulting in a sister getting hurt
>running away from battle
>choosing something over her faith, even if its something minor like skipping church to have steamy yuri sex
>>
>>53044761
Considering sisters are the female equivalent of 80's action stars, it's bound to be strictly badass reasons
>>
>>53044807
That's the maximum capasity of "melee army" players. Give 'em a break.

Stutter during pray time.
Not eating out her superior
Not proper use of her Bolter
You know minor things

found a thread from way back when talking about when crons were gonna get a new dex, also talking about the new daemonhunters/grey knight codex soon to drop, someone has to go back and warn them!

"safest" insofar that the engine exhaust actually vented outside properly (unlike Russian tanks, notably the T-34 chassis), could be bailed out of efficiently (unlike Jap tanks), and didn't have any flat "shoot me" armour facings on the front neatly aligned to jelly the entire crew with concussion/shrapnel from literally any shell capable of delivering HE filler through the armour (Pz.38, Pz.III, Pz.IV, early Tiger I)

They weren't phenomenal, but they filled all the criteria for "This tank will keep you alive (within reason) unless you fuck up somehow"
>>
>>53043181
Yeah desu it's pretty fucking stupid that they use model count instead of percentage like last edition. High model units autofailing is fucking stupid and makes no sense.

>See sisters go to repentia because they dont feel devoted enough.
>Know that you are utterly devoted to the emperor adn have no doubts in your faith.
>But than again how can you be certain that you are in the good side of the emperor?
If you are not certain than that means you also have doubts, and you must go to repentia order to cleanse yourself.
If you are certain that you are on the good side of the Emperor that means you are too pridefull and certain of yourself that you feel your place by the golden throne is guaranteed. It is almsot like saying emperor shoudl give you your reward because you have earned it.
This is a great sin that should be corrected by the ways of repentia.

Apperently thinknig too hard gets you to the sisters repentia. Luckly for the order the numbers of repentia sisters are low in general.
>>
>>53043700

I believe not faster but aircraft engines were the most convinient at that time to put inside the tanks.
The later models corrected the zippo tendencies.

So I'm looking at starting a 30k Word Bearers army. and they get Malefic Daemonology to play with, and Daemon HQs to cast said powers. Obviously /hhg/ doesn't use many Daemons and I don't use many Psykers, so if I have about 6-7 Warp Charge to start with (+D6, obviously), what are some good things to summon that won't cost me a bajillionty pounds? I'd preferably like to avoid Tzeench, but all the other gods are cool. Up against ALL THE MEQS.

I considered a Nurgle Herald with Doomsday Bell just for the lulz, is any of the other Nurgle stuff good?
>>
>>53044987

Sharapnel issue was not present in german armor. You are mistaking it with czech conversion panzer 38t which had hard steel plate that tended to get shattered on impact. German armor on the other hand was not that hard to cause it to be brittle.
>>
>>53045026
Convenient as in "Fuck we need these tanks yesterday and no one's making powerful enough engines except aircraft manufacturers", yes.

Your argument is nonexistent because you say +1 Ld is somehow a make up for dying in droves. Not 1 whole Orks saved.

>GW

Are you fucking new here?
>>
>>53045066
You didn't read it properly. The Pz.III/IV/Tiger all had a nice flat upper hull plate which was perfect for clean detonations of shells with HE filler that could penetrate said UHP. The subsequent explosion and cone of shrapnel (from the shell itself, not shattering hardened armour) was at an ideal distance and height to shred the legs of the turret crew, in addition to usually at least grazing the driver or radio operator. The Germans were constantly up-armouring that particular plate to try and cover the weakness, but it barely kept up with cannon advancement and still rewarded moderately accurate enemy gunners that could hit the middle of a tank's silhouette with potentially rendering the crew unfit for combat.
