Help with my kitsune deck

No budget limitations (well not having to buy 100+ Eur cards would be better)

I don't know if I should proceed on this kind of deck or go full lifegain + tithe or similar cards

General question

When playing planechase, do you try and stack the planes supporting your decks, make random piles or just using one for everybody?

>>53005026

Just use selfless spirit my man
>>
>>53003731
Samurai of the Pale Curtain would be a good addition if not for Emeria...
Acolyte's Reward would be a nice Fuck Your to your friends' 6/6 tramplers.
There's a 3/1 fox for 2 I'd recommend.

4 Emeria, 2 of the Shadowmoor nonbasic plains, 15-16 plains.

Drop the 1-drop for offense. Revoke Existence or Disenchant at least sided. Coat of Arms like >>53004047 said is a fair choice, Honor of the Pure being a viable choice as well. In lea of that awful one drop, get a one-drop equipment; Sai of the Shinobi not being as efficient as Leonin Scimitar, but more thematic and it'll auto attach to your 2-drops.

Question: I know the rest of the deck will cost jackdiddly shit, but you're gonna shell out the money for 3-4 Vials for kitchen table?

>>53004093
I wanted to do this. I ended up making a double strike tribal deck instead, but it kind of worked out the same.
>bonesaw is your cleaver
>bonesplitter is your hunter's axe
>other equipment you think fits because the only whip is RB
BONUS POINTS
>the scarecrow that transforms into a scythe
>the sword that transforms with your dudes
Go either human tribal (first and double strike help), WG for a hunter feel, add red or black for blood drunk hunters and fallen humans.
>or
Wearwolves with the equip: your hunters have turned.

If you want, Endless One, Reality Smasher, or that one white eldrazi would fit as you Amy or Ebrietas.
Cards like Pyrite Spellbomb as items or Hunter tools, though Bolts would fit that too. Spirit Link for regain.

This is probably the best thread to share my retarded mino deck. Made it up in theros times but improved with cards like Temple of Malice year ago and had a lot of fun playing against pure eldrazi and pure innistrad decks. All cards are from Theros block - I'm fucked up with block-locked and tribal decks. Why not use Doran? Turning Harbinger into a 3/3 is not bad. The only issues is colors, but we're in Green, the best color for getting mana (if we're not just going to use dual lands, be they fetch or check lands).

Also, consider
>Leaf-Crown Elder
>Autumnal Gloom (needs enabling, Grisly Salvage? Everbark Shaman can make use of this too)
>Canker Abomination
>Eldritch Evolution (turning Harbinger into Elder, Elder into Dourbark or Protector)

I feel like this is going to be a slow deck, regardless of whether it's for casual or not.
Packing a bit of anti-aggro (or at least some removal) in might be a good idea.
Also, if you opt for Black, you've got Undying Evil access. Even as a two-of that thing is hilarious in kitchen table, getting people spooked about you having it in hand.

Here's my fucking retarded Dominarian Viashino tribal deck. This isn't quite current, I've cut the Conjurer's Closets, but it gives a general idea of how shit it is. My current plan is to get some Shield Spheres and slap them in so the deck lives long enough to get its Confusion in the Ranks meme off, and maybe some Magnetic Theft for equipment manipulation. Also I might replace Seething Song with a cheaper version and throw in some Isochron Scepters to put my cheapo spells on sticks. Thoughts on making this thing as functional as it can be without abandoning the core concept?

I don't think so m8 but it depends. You get 4 boosters but from different sets and blocks. You have only something like 5 shitty rares, no playest etc. On the other hand you gain plenty of lands and a neat box. I would rather save some money for bundle than deckbuilder but If you are a new player then give it a try before you learn how to build a proper deck

the deckbuilder's toolkit usually runs around $20.

you can't even buy a playset of lands for that much.

get the kit, learn how to build. THEN go out and buy singles. never buy packs unless you use the cards for sealed/draft first. i bought the first deckbuilder's toolkit back before innistrad 1 was released, as a way to get back in to magic after not playing since high school (urza's block). surprisingly, the box has held up all these years quite well.

My friend and I have a pretty sweet way to play casual Magic. Basically, you just grab a single deck and play as you would, with a shared library and graveyard. It feels strange at first, but if you construct your "duel deck" properly, it actually enhances the game. We use a singleton U/B zombies list, for graveyard shenanigans. Some cool interactions we have include, but are not limited to:
- screwing up your opponents scry with Screeching Skaab
- screwing up your opponents draw with your own scry
- removing their reanimation target with Stitched Drake/Makeshift Mauler etc
- exiling a creature from the graveyard to prevent them casting Skaab Goliath
- any creature with a "dies" trigger + Merciless Resolve
- killing your opponents creature and returning it to your hand with Macabre Waltz, while also casting a Madness spell off of the discard from MW
- you can steal each other's flashback spells
- Zombie Infestation + Madness
- Reanimating their creature you just killed
- Drawing the card you countered with Memory Lapse the previous turn

This is just off the top of my head.
What I like the most is that you brew the deck yourselves, so the power level and interactions are 100% what you want them to be. I am currently refining the zombies list and toying around with the basis for a storm one.

I am legit interested if anybody else does something similar. And if you don't, try it, cuz this is some fucking untouched design space if I've ever seen one.

I'm thinking of buying a playset of the new Egyptian Counterspell and a couple Egyptian Consecrated Sphinxes to go with it. >>53029409
Check out the variant called Danger Room/Battle Box. It's like what you described, taken to the extreme. Basically, each player (four or more, usually), gets an identical set of five basic lands and five dual lands. There's a massive communal deck (think 300+ cards, all 5 colors).

Each turn, you draw from the communal deck and you can play one of your lands. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems fun - no mana screw, no mana hose, and everyone gets the same card pool to work with.

If you're refering to the Loading Ready Run- made Cubelet, then I know exactly what you mean- I actually already have a Cubelet of my own and, not gonna lie, it was probably my source of inspiration for this. However, what I've found is that limiting myself to a set group of colors/mechanics makes the play, and the deck, feel more cohesive. When playing the Cubelet I sometimes felt like I was playing themless 5c goodstuff.

I will admit, however, that the Cubelet is a supreme tool for 2 man drafts. My Cubelet is built mostly with SOI cards and supports the 5 ally color tribes. With the 100 cards, it fits Winston, Winchester and Grid Drafts.

Pro tip: When Grid-Drafting, after you are done drafting, grab the cards that none of you picked and set up another couple of grids with them. This will increase the power level of the decks you drafted, while at the same time simulate cards "rotating" around the table in 6/8 mans.

As far as Sol Ring or Metal Worker, as well as Brainstorm, it's a power thing. My friends either play terrible decks, or stick to modern cards so I usually do the same. That, and at least the people I play with hate mill. Even when my mill decks are more likely to lose they hate playing them. I had Grand Architect, Hedron Crab, and some random blue creatures in there before, but wanted to see if I could make it work with almost no creatures. I also used Gitaxian Probes.

Millstone never seemed efficient to me. 2 mana a turn when I'm trying to drop 5 and 6 mana spells. But I could just be talking shit.

And as far as fun is concerned, I meant not just making another Glimpse or mind Crank deck. I like Grind Clock and proliferate, and would rather include those as well.

If I replaced Thought Scour for Brainstorm and added in the locus lands, which cards would you switch out for Counterspell, Boomerang, or Millstone and the mines?

How do I improve my janky Izzet artifacts casual deck?

>>
>>53044574
Holy singletons Batman.

Cut the chaff. There's no reason to even bother looking at this deck until you've decided on what you want it to do.
>>
>>53044709
I explained in the description what cards I was focusing on that I just needed to get more copies of and the general strategy of the deck.
>>
>>53044574
If you want to force a a YUGE artifact creature, just T3 Thopter Engineer into T4 Shape Anew for a Blightsteel Colossus.
>>
>>53044574
Cut the Gearhulks and Collosus; you don't have enough instants/sorceries and noncreature artifacts respectively to make use of them.

I'd look to replace them by adding in some more card-draw. Try getting a few copies of Quicksmith Spy or Reverse Engineer.
>>
>>53044739
But there's no way to help when all you have is a general idea.

There's no such thing as a "general specification." All I can do with that is recommend more artifact lands and Galvanic Blast.
>>
>>53010502
If anything, WHFB players were/are experts at playing games on a budget at someone's house, which is why geedubs killed it
>>
>>53044739
I'd have 3 Spring-Lead Drums and some 0-drop artifact creatures. Drop the Engineer, and go 4 Grand Architect. Also, some blue-artifact creatures. That way all your creatures can get all the +1/+1 benefits and churn out mana for the 6-8 bombs you put in the deck. For red, I'd go Galvanic Blast and Shrapnel Blast.
>>

Juhg is sad, I want to give it a hug.

Our local Forbidden Planet was just giving away commons after the Amonkhet Pre-release. You will find a lot of enthusiasts don't give a shit about anything but their decks, so you could just make friends with someone and they will probably just give you a load of free cards to get you into it.
>>
>>53009708
You are not alone friend. I have Cats, Battle Cattle, Goblins, Elves, Rats, Merfolk, Theros Humans and many more. It's the best way to collect, it's so satisfying making it all work.

Bump again.
>>
So what does everyones kitchen table group look like meta wise? What I mean is do you mostly just play Commander? Or do you mix up the formats? Play to win or for fun? Also how many friends do you regularly play with?

My group consists of about 5-8 of us depending on the day. For some reason they only like to play free for all, instead of 1 on 1, so it becomes almost like a commander game. Most of my friends play for fun, and have few overpowered decks. We all like to build flavor decks regardless of how strong or often weak they are. We have gotten a few newbies recently to join us and I am trying to introduce a standard only night, so the newbies can use their new cards without being smashed.
>>
>>53009708
Ditto what >>53046755 said. It is so much more fun for me to create decks with flavor and tribal.

I have a minotaur deck like you, also I created a satyr drunken party deck.

Just finished working on a gorgon/snake deck. I love turning creatures to stone, and using -1-1 effects with death touch snakes.

Next deck I am going to work on is a warrior/berserker deck. Like the recent duel deck, but you know...better. I really want pit fighter to work, mainly cause I dig the artwork for him.
>>
>>53009708
Why not use some more of the smaller minotaur from Theros? Felhide brawler would curve into any of your 3-drops, and be able to attack. Also, was the BR god a minotaur? Even if your cows don't buff him, might be cool to have a cow god in the deck.

>>53048779
What did you do with snakes? I ended up making it a snake/gorgon/assassin themed deck. All the creatures have deathtouch, except for Pharaika. Verifiable Claws and Longbows for attacking and pinging, with Reaper of the Wild as my beatstick, and Vraska to annoy my opponent. Few copies of Rogue's Passage to theme and function.
>>
>>53003623
Yo kitchen table, I have a conundrum.

I have decided that I want to make a tribal deck using something really dumb and fun. Unfortunately, at the moment I am torn between Crabs and Griffins. On the crab side, I have janky blue hedron crab mill and possibly throwing in more crustacean creatures like Viscerid Drone. On the griffin side, I have way more options for griffins and also Zuberi, Golden Feather.

What should I do?

Alternatively, suggest an even more ridiculous tribal for me to do.
>>
>>53049204

Aetherborn Tribal, my dude.
>>
>>53009539
Assault formation might be good
>>
>>53049293
YOU KNOW WHAT?
I HAVE TWO GONTIS AND THREE YAHENNI'S EXPERTISE'S.

LETS DO THIS, AETHERBORN TRIBAL LETS GO.
>>
>>53038122
Hey look another "MaRo REEEEEE" post. I take it you missed when he said "There are worlds where Daunt and Trample live together in peace. Also note that Daunt is far away from becoming evergreen." when taking about trample being replaced?
>>
>>53049336
Make sure to run live fast die young combo
>>
>>53049336
May I suggest Midnight entourage for the lord ability, and gifted aether born for a cheap hitter.
>>
>>53048643
Commander turned into complete ass even at a kitchen table level.

One of the resident standard players put some money in and built the Atraxa deck. In response, two players didn't coordinate and showed up with the Mikaeus budget deck.
One player stayed out of the EDH games, and the other was continuing to build a UB brew around Phenax and Ashiok.

Before he finished, people got tired of the format and returned to just playing 60 card decks.

>>
>>53049336
I've thought about making this, but I'd end up with a third rogue deck, so I didn't. I want to make naga work
>>
>>53049845
This is why all of my commander decks are designed from the ground up as "Janky garbage that I like." like my Thelon fungus commander, or my Genju of the Realm landmander deck.

Commander is great when all of the players start off with the idea that they aren't trying to win but have fun and play dumb cards, but it's crazy bullshit if people start tryharding.
>>
>>53050008
>which do you want family?
>degenerate competitive combos?
>or degenerate jank combos that don't actually win?

EDH a shit.
At least Tron has the decency end the game instead of playing solitaire.
>>
>>53049577
Hi, MaRo.
>>
>>53048643
My group is usually a 60-card free-for-all. Sometimes in teams of 2 or 3. There's only a couple of us who got commander decks, everyone else is too damn lazy.
1v1s are very rare. Lots of tribal decks around too.

Here's the decks, separated by player:
>Vampires, Hydras, Werewolves
>Illusions, Izzet Titty
>RUG Clues, Bad Bant Eldrazi
>Bolster, Dragons
>Wolves
>BW Tokens, Jund -1/-1, Bant Walls, GB Frontier Elves, Pauper Faeries, Merfolk, a few others (including Affinity, which isn't allowed on the kitchen table)

I'm the guy with all the ridiculously expensive decks which can get destroyed by decks which are a fraction of their price.
The Izzet Titi deck recently rose to power in the meta and is unbeaten. Does very well vs everything else which relies on good board presence and gets screwed up by the repeated mass bounce.
>>
>>53049943
Heres how you naga. UG naga tribal, running sultai/silumgar naga from Tarkir.

>I can't hear you over the sound of my Morphs and all of these buff ass snakes.

Also, Weaver of Currents is great for morph costs.
>>
>>53050156
As a great man once said, why win now when you can win 5 turns from now?
>>
>>53051145
"one today is worth two tomorrows"
>>
>>53025332
'dual' lands. taplands, tangolands, shocklands, etc
>>
>>53051134
Huh. I'd thought of using some of the morphs while focusing on Exploit, but never playing morph. Would take care of naga having no good 3-drops, save for Weaver. Ghostblade sneks?
>>
>>53051273
no it's not.
>>
>>53051365
Use stuff like Secret Plans and Quarsi Deceiver to make your morphs more better, and then utilize Weaver and Bounty of the Luxa getting you all the mana you need to flip morphs early. Nothing more pain in the ass then a Silumgar Spell Eater to the face.

Plus, you can exploit Tah Crop Skirmishers and then bring them back with the Embalm.

For some reason I didn't read Bounty until now... that's perfect for morph.

3 Ghostblade, 4 Secret Plans, 3 Bounty, and 4 of one of the manifest spells, as well as a bunch of sneks. Maybe even Assault Formation to turn those 0/4s into finishers.

I miss playing casual magic. I don't have friends anymore and the only way I can get games in is to go play modern at a store.

I've even got some wimpy kitchen table decks put together in case I meet some casual players but so far they've gone unused.

>BG life drain
>naya singleton fun stuff
>monogreen timmy bait
>UR delver
>>
>>53052220
I know that feeling. Back in the day, I ended up making five separate kitchen table tribals for Innistrad in the event that I could get one of my friends into the game a little.

Now, all i've got is playing casual matches in between tournament rounds at prereleases.
>>
>>53052294
Keep trying it, anon. I have a casual deck of every 1, 2, and 3 colour combination that are aproximately even to eachother, and through bringing them around and lending them to my friends for a few matches, I was able to get those friends into MtG. They only play casually with me, but it's still great fun.
>>
>>53050632
I am the only one that runs Illusions in my group, it is so fun and has a lot of flavor. I throw in cards that copy other creatures as well.

How does RUG clues do with your group? I run GWU clues and it is usually a battle of attrition in my group.

>>53052623
The RUG clues isn't really an optimal list (not my deck so I don't have a list of it), but is good at the attritional long game. There's been at least a few 1v1s where it's turned into the Clues guy having 200+ life and a simply crazy number of clues as neither player can do anything to the other. Might not be as slow and grindy as WUG clues.

I might give the dude 4x Mechanized Production.
>>
>>53010225
they have nothing else left
>>
>>53052775

Mechanized Production with Clone and Prototype Portal: blue/artifact build deck? With artifacts like Ornithopter, Darksteel Relic, and artifact lands, it should be pretty easy to get your pieces into place at once.

That or go with Sword of the Meek and Thopter Foundry and just stick Mechanized Production to a Thopter token when you have enough of them out.
>>
My store does casual sundays where people play edh and 60 card variants like planechase and archenemy. I am one of the designated archenemies and my dick of choice is creatureless metallurgic summonings. Lots of fun. about 50/50 for win/loss.

Elemental Tribal

Better as 60-card kitchen table deck or EDH with angry omnath?
>>
>>53057119

Are your schemes optimized for your deck or just random
>>
>>53057837
Somewhat optimized for my deck. I have a "steal your shit" subtheme with some if the expensive reanimation spells and i also use the reanimate/gain control of schemes. "Which of you burns brightest?" Is probably my favorite scheme even if it's not the best. I also like the double everyone's mana for a turn because it gives the players a chance to do something flashy as well.

I enjoy sort of roleplaying the evil wizard role with my deck, which is the main reason it's creatureless. It's not just another magic deck pumped up by scheme cards, it's an evil wizard slinging spells at your party and occasionally summoning minor familiars or necromancing one of your creatures back to life.
>>
>>53057824
Non-combo Animar running Omnath in the 99 is always a spicy option. Blue has some pretty good elemental love, too.
>>
>>53057824
Horde of Notions EDH feat. Primal Surge. My friend made that deck and it's about as elemental tribal as you can get.

On the topic of Angry Omnath, I originally made it as a 60 card landfall deck, but later turned it into an EDH deck and never looked back. It's not so much a tribal deck, though, much more of a turboramp and sac deck.

MTGO has fully-supported pauper.

2 or 3 places locally do FNM. As to the quality of the players, no clue.

I've also heard the MTGO can be very hard because the talent pool is crazy large (as comes with the territory).

I want to run a kitchen table deck based around a few cards I picked up during Khans-Theros standard days.

4x Fleeceman Lion
4x Rakshasa Deathdealer
4x Siege Rhino
2x Ashen Rider

Help me fill in the rest of the deck. I know I shouls include ramp to get FML monsterous on turn 3x, mana to dump into RDD and getting the other two down asap. What should add without being halfway to a modern deck in cost?
