The composition is a bit forced, but it does look nice on thekitchentable.
Oh the things I wouldn't do for a playset of the Judge promo.
An old friend got this for me so it has some sentimental value. Other than that it has some pretty sweet art and feels satisfying to play

Tied between this and a forbidden orchard expedition my sister bought for me.
Knights was the first modern deck I built (was working towards merfolk, but had bought the caverns and vials first)
>>52993363
Question for the knights players here, are they really that strong of a tribe for modern? Has something more off beat been attempted, like illusions?
>>52993059
>Not encasing them in Carbon Fiber
>>52993455
Knight is a meme tribe.
>>52993455
Both of those are incredibly bad.
>>52993556
Thats what I thought, but whatever works.
>>52993455
>>52993594
Yeah not gonna lie, my meta at the time was not too competitive, the best were some tier-2 decks. The Faerie matchup was fun as all hell though, the guy playing them was just a salt mine.
>>52993455
As a general rule, tribal decks need heavily pushed lords to work.
Elves is reliant on Ezuri; Merfolk on Pearl Trident.
Eldrazi are odd in that they're powered by a land. Bant Spirits is still fringe a this point. It might break the mold a tad, since WotC doesn't seem interested in good lords at the moment. Just look at the trash they printed while trying to force Warriors tribal.
I wish there was a version like this.
For only the most calculating black mages.

I've never even played it and it's sub-par at best (and totally replaced by Overwhelming Denial, to boot), but nevertheless I treasure Last Word and consider it my favorite.
The flavor text and general theme of the card is delicious.

Best god, 10/10.
I know, I'm a bit boring. Really, I just love all the Eldrazi.
All hail Rebecca Guay!
Got to love the Primeval Dragons, such amazing flavor and stories, I remember my EDH deck firstly was a Darigaaz good stuff deck (I barely had bought the Phyrexia vs Coalition duel deck back then) and suddenly my friends started playing EDH, so I decided to jump in with everyone. It was funny because that was such a huge headstart for me back then, dark ritual, phyrexian arena, greaves and what not. Eventually, Darigaaz was lacking, everyone started to revamp their decks, dude with Kemba got some better gear, elf player went from Nath to Ezuri, and I had to move on as well, I had realized, enter Prossh, I got myself a Food Chain and refurbished everything, now all that is left is my foil FNM Terminate, the greaves and Phyrexian Arena, obviously the mana base is generally what would be the same, but back then all I had was RB and GR shocks, now I went so much further that I have an extremely greedy mana base (six basics, three of which are snow.) and have a blast facing against everyone from back then (who also evolved too). So because of that, the old art of Terminate is a reminder of my beginnings in EDH, and my spiralling into what is probably the most fun format I ever delved into.
>>52993455
I don't think it'll ever be a hugely powerful deck, but I've gotten some fun mileage out of double strike shenanigans with anthems and exemplar.
>>52996354

I guess it isn't all bad. It'd be kinda tragic to see a Time Spiral block but done like BFZ aka raped

>>52998300

Yeah, he's saying it to keep people off his back. He's also said we are more likely to go to a whole new Japanese plane than return to Kamigawa.
>>52998381
Yeah baby Jace is not so well suited for modern at the moment. I actually think he could pop back up if a Sultai List ever became good
There was a delirium toolbox Sultai Modern deck floating around that used almost a playset of him and I think it has some potential
>>52998423
Why do they hate Kamigawa so much?
>>52998520
Why don't you? Oh right, you weren't playing at the time because you started playing during the epic Theros block.
>>52992600
>>52998536

>>52998556

>>52998560

>>52998560
>Woooooooow look at me, I played during that time because I'm probably older and I'm gonna shit on someone who wasn't around to experience the set and recently started playing for asking a genuine question, look at me
Fuck you, dude
>>52998520
Because Kamigawa is the worst selling and worst rated set ever. The power level was really fucking weak, especially when compared to Mirrodin, and people didn't get the lore because instead of just Samurai and Ninja it was "Shinto: the plane". This is all based off of old Market Research.
Even then, if Wizards ever did a return to Kamigawa, we would not get back the same setting. After the success of Theros (and I assume Amonkhet) WotC sees that a Pop Culture fantasy version of real world mythology tests really well. And Kamigawa was pretty deep into Japanese Mythology, so a Pop-culture version wouldn never do it justice.
I just dig this one. I like the art, I like what it does, and I like the pretty colours.
Graft is dope.
>>52998520
Because:
The players hate it (at least those playing at the time but if MaRo is to be believed the majority hate it even to this day since supposedly they do recent survives for that)
The design is just bad (almost all mechanics are parasitic or just plain boring, Ninjitsu being the exception)
Bad themes (Legendaries especially)
Abysmally weak powerlevel (especially noticeable since it came after original Mirrodin)
Went too deep in the japanese mythology and look that it alienated all normies and entry level weebs that wanted anime.block. Kamigawa is the reason Theros, Kaladesh and now Amonkhet (plus all future blocks) will have only iconic elements of their respective mythology and not actually feature in depth references, visuals and mythos.
>>52998612
I really wish that Wizards would just do SOMETHING original with the inspiration they take, instead of literally just rotating roles and changing names.
Amonkhet is LITERALLY Egypt, but the mythological creatures are real and:
They have gods that are literally just Bastet, Ra, Sobek, Anubis, and Apophis that do different things than they originally did.
Would it have killed them to worldbuild a little bit of their own shit? I actually like when they do that. We get stuff like Innistrad, (fuck you, I liked what they did with Shadows), Ravnica, and even the stuff that was original for Theros I thought was great. Kruphix is based. It's just they HAD to make something that was the not!Illiad for some stupid reason.
>>52998612
>tfw we will never again see a plane with rich lore based in real-world mythology because normies are too stupid to understand it
>>52998662
>(fuck you, I liked what they did with Shadows)
Opinion discarded.

Sorry, Anon who has been ranting about Wizards not returning to Kamigawa here. I really should post my favorite card as well.

To be fair, not being as strong as Mirrodin is not just Kamigawa's fault. Mirrodin was retarded power-wise. Kamigawa is also seen as bad because of how many peoppe left because of the sets before it.

>>52999963
omg I never knew of that card, would also work with the norwood I posted shortly after.
I like the possible setting much more than the mechanic
That card. I love all Pox Variants, but this one, man, it just has everything. The art, the symmetry, the balls hitting the floor when tapping to cast a big one. Most satisfying card to play, by far.
>>52992600
I love and hate this card. Hope it gets a much needed reprint in the Iconic Masters set.
>>52998612
I still don't understand why they're blaming the actual setting, when the problem was far more to do with the cards being actual ass. Ho boy, I sure do love me a 6 mana 2/2 fear.
Kamigawa is one of the planes people get so hyped to see in supplemental sets like commander, so I refuse to believe that the setting is unpopular. Even if that genuinely is the reason, I don't see why they can't do a bait-and-switch.
Kamigawa block was set like 3000 years before the current timeline. They could make the plane unrecognisable on returning, if they wanted to.
I love Guttersnipe. It was the main feature of the first deck I built, and it was always fun knocking out 3+ people in a single turn in group duels.
>>53000011
I had a friend get mad and leave the game because I was gaining 12 life each turn (his and mine) using wellwisher and quirion ranger. It also allows you to reuse mana dorks, pumpers and a lot of other creatures.

I have 500 top halves of Prism Array
>>52999922
It had some cool shit (Investigate is a pretty universal mechanic and Tireless Tracker is just a fucking joy to play to the point where it joined my top 10 favorite cards) but I didn't like the HP lovecraft twist on the Innistrad theme and the poor timing of yet another fucking Eldrazi block. The set overall was okay to meh but what condemns it in my eyes is that it didn't hold a candle to the original which was especially jarring coming out of BFZ block which was an even harder rape of the original block in every way. All of this without even touching the standard format
Context matters and the timing and way it came out knocks down at least 1-1.5 points, add to that everything else I mentioned and I can't say it's a block I will remember fondly or really remember a couple of years down the line. Just another meh block in a long line of meh blocks recently.

>>52998101
>>52998215
Yeah, I still prefer the text-lite version myself.
My first deck ever was a burn deck with 4 ball lightnings in it. I couldn't play the fancypants turn-one-kill tourney version because even back then the lotuses already cost "more money than god" (relative to a kid with $10 allowance, anyway), but I did manage to get a couple of red moxes to help power it along. Fond memories.
One of my favorites, I don't even remember how I got this one
>>52998612
>After the success of Theros (and I assume Amonkhet) WotC sees that a Pop Culture fantasy version of real world mythology tests really well.
Capitalism was a mistake. Art shouldn't be driven by the lowest common denominator.
>>52999573
That looks exactly like the Winter Orb... which might actually be mine. Built a hard control / H-mine + millstone deck around that which absolutely crushed people (and their souls).
A lot of people were playing really trim 40 card decks (before they changed the min) at the time and you could mill them down incredibly quickly.
>>53000226
I used to play that foil red burn deck and this guy came out. Out of all my friends we got enough RTR that we actually pulled 4 foil ones it was a wet dream man.
>>52997836
I think that's a solid choice, anon. I was never one for human tribal, but he's a great example of a card that knows exactly what it wants to be and does it well. I'd call it iconic for what it is.
As for my favorite, it's a tough call, but I'd have to say it's this one: Norn lured me into MTG and Phyrexia remains my favorite aspect of the lore. I was torn between her and Steel Overseer, but she had value to me even before I played the game, and I think that says something.
>>53000726
I remember my 4th Grade self seeing Ball Lightnings in glass cases at the huge flea market where I live (RIP, Super Flea) and wanting them for my burn decks.
If I had just saved for two or three weeks I could have gotten some but I dumped money on boosters as soon as I got them.
does anyone else miss the old merfolk/goblin/squirrel/elf/sliver decks of old?

Theoretically, this guy could face the darksteel colossus or the progenitus, or even the inkwell leviathan , and tell him "You. -WON'T-. PASS.", and proceed to keep him at bay with his bare hands.

Vanilla tribal is best tribal
Purely for the flavor.
>>53006804
RIP Garruk, the savior Standard needs, but cannot have.
>>53006871
>the savior Standard needs
>more fucking planeswalkers
Nope
>>53000226
My man. This card is absolutely amazing.
>Spiritmonger is godly!
>>53000382
Not bad, but blue monkey version is way cooler.
>>53007058

THAT hair style is eternal

pongify only hits creatures
>>53005993
Its Pooky!
>>53006631
>Iprefernew Slivers.
I can only hope this was intended as bait and/or was referring solely to the rules change (which is bad and makes no sense in regards to what we know about slivers and how they act but not as bad).
>>53007088
But can it eat a banana with it's feet?
Checkmate, atheists.
This dude. I am a huge U/R fan, I love fliers and Prowess. I like that it's not pure facebash aggro but quickly becomes a problem once you start using cheap spells to cycle through your deck.
The new Enigma Drake is going to be quite the contestant, though.
>>52996463Some guy posted this in legacy general a while back
>>53006591
thank you floof shep
>>53007447
Why?
>>53006908
>buh buh buh it destroys planeswalkers!
Yeah, shut the fuck up Ace, we need planeswalker destruction at cantrip one-drop level.
>>53006591
thank you floof shep
>>53007601
2 drop sorcery and 3 drop instant pw removal have already been done and proved to be good enough.
>>53007935
I don't want to have to sideboard to pretend like the most cancerous thing in magic doesn't exist, thanks.
>>53007935
>a worse Terminate at sorcery speed
>and a better Murder
>"good enough"
What level do you play this game at?
>>53007935
When did this trend of non-permanents being called 'drops' start?
>>52992728
>mfw I owned a set of the judge promos
>mfw i sold them long time ago
>mfw their price literally triplicated
>mfw I only have a set from the last modern master.
What in the world was I thinking....
>>53008401
When people got into the scene on their own in the nu magic era and tried to pick up the lingo without the embarrassment of asking people who already knew what they meant. It's the same reason people at my LGS call tapping a land that taps for any color of mana "splashing".
>>52996463
there is this guy that owns 20 foil copies of each naga in the game (khans and now amonkhet).
>>53003229
Yeah, what is the purpose of getting 20 foil copies of nagas (the decent ones and the shitty ones)?
>>52994413
have you been brewing crush with new AKH stuff? bounty of the luxa is kind of a nonbo but might be worht it

>>52992600
>not having the promo
I still remember I got a fucking 3/3 up to some 14/14 with this card and some other pumps.
>>53009736
Yuuuup.
Hands down, this is it.
>>53004930
Unfortunately, as colorless isn't a color, you can't protect yourself from the Blightsteel. Plus, Progenitus can't be blocked cause protection from everything. Lastly, Inkwell has Islandwalk, so it might be unblockable anyways.
Still a cool card though.
>>53010316
The ass is fat
>>52992600
brown frame best frame.
>>52999067
Fucking furries
>>52992600
I love this card. It also looks phenomenal in foil
>>53007536
Well someone was talking about having some number of something and I couldnt contain my autism. Im actually shocked anyone saved it
>>53000423
the second line is great but shouldnt be implemented much, ya know?
>>53012871
H-How many?
>>53009745
The promo doesn't look nearly as good.
>>53013169
Well the picture is a few years old. I think the binder is a few hundred? I havnt counted in a while I just keep filling it in. Ill count in the morning and get back to you
>>52992600
My favorite deckwas W/R Heroic. This guy carried the team a lot of the time. Love him.
>>52993327
Same, pressure and disruption is great.
Deer stronk as fuck
>>53007935
>limiting your special snowflake card type removal because they are so cool and iconic and fun!
Retarded
Planeswalkers are by and large not very fun to play against or with
>>53014110
I dunno what you're talking about, it's fun as hell to resolve planeswalkers and kill an opponent
>>52999194
You are a monster. I am salty about your existence.
>>53000366
Decent. Respectable. Megrim says hi.
>>53004581
Best card ever. Only one I like equivalently is Karn and he's Too Damn Expensive for me.
>>53014577
>resolve planeswalker
>you erratically snowball out of control unless you opponent either has a better board or one of the two answers allowed by wotc to walkers
Yeah dude it's fun as hell
>>53013224
Gonna have to call bullshit on that one captain
>>53014577
Fuck off Nathan, superfriends is a fucking shitty deck to play against. At least control players have the decency to draw-go and not spend eternities mulling over each and every walkers abilities.
Christ.
>>53010316
...saved. For research purposes.
Not a single one of you had posted Karn. I am disappoint.
>>53015808
Delete Karn.
>>53015808
>constant issue of walkers tearing up Standard and risk of Gideon tribal hitting T2 in Modern might prompt Wizards to print actual responses to planeswalkers
>Tron will simply be acceptable casualties
>>52999194
I put it in my Daretti deck. It gets disgusting.
>>53015644
I don't play superfriends I play really bad control decks, with a lot of walkers coincidentally
>>53015830
tron doesnt give a fuck about karn or ugin, there are plenty of other things it can spend the mana on
>>53008492

540, only 60 are foil though. Hard to find people actually putting it in their binders
pariah+inviobility.. I miss the old days.
wtf happened to Karn?
>>53015622
Have you seen the op? The only thing the promo has going for it is a smaller print run. It doesn't even pop out the frame.
>>53018084
Guay is p overrated though.

>>53004081
It is much more business than art. The card game and sales comes first, the flavor and everything else comes in a very distant second.
>>52999194

Mindslaver Doesn't work like that friend
>>53023081
Shut up
>>53023081
I know. It was a joke.It was also a glitch in Xmage. I was playing it against a computer to test it out, and then after Mindslaver triggered it let me switch to the computer's hand watch what it does without controlling anything... so I conceded as the computer and the game said I won.
I love the old obliterate, both the crunch and the flavour text. Love how barrin is just mad as hell and is just gonna nuke it all
