Why am I such a useless piece of shit that's degraded from being a damn good roleplayer to some bland and frankly inconsistent person?

I was good, once. Great, even! But now I feel like a burden every time I play, some shitter squatting in the way of better men. How do I get better, guys? How do I actually make myself worth a damn, like I used to be?

So last session my cleric 7/soul warder 3 got herself turned into a rabbit by failing the saves of a baleful polymorph and because it was more interesting and cheaper the druid cast awaken on me.

I am now a 12HD rabbit with no cleric powers and no hands. What do /tg/
>>
>>52988938
find a witch or druid to cast anthropo spell on you.

Then after, convert to a nature god.
>>
>>52988938
This
>>52988963
Its your best chance really. You don't want to get eaten by a dog, do you.
>>
>>52988938
You failed both saves?

Sucks.

You could take the Transformation feat (Spheres of Power) when you next get one though if the DM's cool with that. That gives you the shapechanger subtype, so you'd be able to just turn back into being you as a standard.

Of course circumstances being what they are, it'd only be fitting if your Transformation form was a bunny.

And as for fluff, it's easily explained that since you were reawakened, you were able to figure it out.

Badda bing, baddaboop.
>>
How much are claws worth on a race? Anything? Seems like the same as having a cruddy weapon and occupies the same hand that'd wield a weapon, but it's treated as really desirable. Why is that?

Mooch off of townsfolk as hard as you can. Use that adorable face to your advantage.
>>
>>52989134
Because two claws means two attacks in a full attack, even if you're something like a level 1 wizard.
>>
>>52989134
They're a great low-level way to get multiple attacks, since they deal your full Strength bonus in damage.

That said, you should pass them up or trade them out at later levels if at all possible. A natural attack build would only be viable if you can get claws plus a bunch of other stuff (bite, gore, wings, tail, etc.).
>>
>>52989144
I wanna punch this girl in the face for letting so many what I assume to be pet-store rabbits run around outside and potentially escape into the wilderness.

RIP ecosystem, you about to get as hardfucked as Australia was with rabbit.

Also, I'm sure your average medieval fantasy villager would think of some hasenpfeffer first when they see a rabbit
>>
>>52989256
Its a small island in japan full of rabbits. Even since medieval times if I recall. People would go there and just pick the rabbits up to eat them since they come right up to people.
>>
>>52989165
Well it depends how many natural attacks you can get, compared to how many you'd get from iteratives.

Also, while attacking with a sword in one hand and a claw from your other hand makes the claw hit at -5, it doesn't impact the sword's attack bonus like TWF would. Then there's things like gores or bites or whatever, which have zero disadvantage to using alongside iteratives or what-have-you.

Also, you can't be disarmed at all.

Basically claws and natural attacks are really nice.
>>
>>52988938
Why 12 HD?
>>
>>52988938
Yeah seems like you are best off trying to get an anthropomorphise spell off. On the plus side you would be a bunny girl with the powers of a medium level character.
>>
>>52989297
Well I mean.

Technically you can be disarmed.

It's just not usually done in the scope of most Pathfinder sessions...
>>
>>52989298
Actual rabbit, you twatlord.
>>
>>52989256
There's nothing on the island but rabbits, which is why they don't fear her.

Theories include that maybe the rabbits' ancestors were used for bioweapon testing during WWII.
>>
>>52989331
Rabbits don't have 12 HD.
>>
>>52989355
if you are awakened as a rabbit you return all your HD and levels.
>>
>>52989282
Okay, I guess that's not as bad.

Still, I can't help but feel my hackles rise for a different reason now, since I get pissed off whenever I see wild animals run up to humans and beg for food.
THEY'RE WILD ANIMALS! THIS IS HOW YOU GET BEARS ATTACKING HIKERS FOR FOOD AND RAIDING HOUSES AT NIGHT YOU DUMBFUCKS

>>52989347

>It still retains its class and level (or HD), as well as all benefits deriving therefrom (such as base attack bonus, base save bonuses, and hit points). It retains any class features (other than spellcasting) that aren’t extraordinary, supernatural, or spell-like abilities.

We don't know a lot about Starfinder, but do you think it's possible that martials vs casters will be less ridiculous?

What do you think they're streamlining?
Arcane/Divine/Etc spells are being folded into one category, and there's a wealth of new content being added
>>
>>52989380
Actually, that's another issue with the island. The rabbits have no predators, so the people are just making sure they don't starve because they've already eaten almost all the grass and nobody wants to cull the population.
>>
>>52989406
>Rabbits can't carry diseases like other rodents.
>>
>>52989481
Pussy
>>
>>52989406
One rabbit doesn't do massive damage, but they can breed very, very quickly. They can get pregnant from less than a year old, get impregnated almost immediately after giving birth, gestation lasts a month tops, and they can have around 6-10 kits per litter.

Rabbits if left unchecked can utterly destroy a farming village.
>>
>>52989406
I take it you've never been to a park where human activity has taught the squirrels and rabbits where food is kept, and found tha your plastic bins of camping supplies have been chewed through and destroyed, and your tent, sleeping bags, and matress have been damaged.

Wild animals becoming psuedo-domesticated is never a good thing, for either the animals or the humans

>>52990306
Do Sanctified Slayer like Anon suggested, and you're fucking golden.
>>
Regarding crafting magic items, is the CL requirement a prerequisite that can be ignored by raising the DC?
Example: Sword of Example +1 would need [1st Level Spell] and CL 5. Could a level 1 character do it?
>>
I unironically want to play a Shaman as a support character.

The question is, how do I do it?
>>
>>52990478
Consider being styled as some kind of native american shaman.

But the shaman class has alright spellcasting for support oriented characters if thats how you end up playing. Its alright as a secondary caster if you have a wizard in your group already.

alternatively become a witch and use the witchdoctor archetype for real feels.
>>
>>52990456
If I remember correctly, caster level is the only thing you CAN'T raise the DC to get around.
>>
>>52989470
>We don't know a lot about Starfinder, but do you think it's possible that martials vs casters will be less ridiculous?

There is not a single class you can start out as at level 1 and eventually get 9th level casting, they're all 6th casters.
>>
>>52990456
Your Sword of Example +1 should only require CL 3 to craft, IIRC, but yeah, that's right. You can completely ignore all of the prereqs for wondrous items EXCEPT for the Craft Wondrous Item feat.
>>
>>52990579
>>52990598
So...
>>
>>52990594
All the casters you mean right. I can't imagine that soldiers get spells. Pretty sure you can get to level 9 with secondary classes is what they are hinting at.

>>52989470
Honestly I don't know if I like the idea of arcane/divine being the same thing. I appreciated the distinction between casters, but since they are making it backwards compatable, wizards and clerics could probably be right along side technomancers and solarians.
>>
Have you applied to Overlewd yet, anons?

Remember the apps end tomorrow morning!
>>
>>52990579
You also can't ignore the spell component for spell completion and I think spell trigger items?

So you can't ignore it for scrolls and wands. And I think potions as well?

Basically, things that just do the spell, far as I can tell.

>>52990598
Well he's talking about Magic Arms and Armor, but...

>>52990622
Yeah, you can't bypass the CL requirement.
>>
>>52990680
I did, but I'm still in my last revision.
>>
>>52990622
"Note that all items have prerequisites in their descriptions. These prerequisites must be met for the item to be created. Most of the time, they take the form of spells that must be known by the item’s creator (although access through another magic item or spellcaster is allowed). The DC to create a magic item increases by 5 for each prerequisite the caster does not meet. The only exception to this is the requisite item creation feat, which is mandatory. In addition, you cannot create potions, spell-trigger, or spell-completion magic items without meeting its prerequisites."

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/
Under Magic Item Creation. Also, I should mention that usually a minimum caster level isn't even a prereq at all.

>>
>>52990732
I know, but I'm clarifying that most items don't have a minimum CL requirement. And in any case, you can ignore that requirement, >>52990683 is wrong. With exception to potions, spell trigger, and spell completion items (wands and staves, basically), the ONLY thing you can't ignore is the appropriate item creation feat. You can ignore spells, you can ignore minimum caster levels, you can ignore racial and class requirements, you can ignore minimum skill rank requirements, you can even ignore feat requirements other than the crafting feat.

Certain classes and spells can control oozes, but you normally use them for utility. Like breaking through locked doors by putting a little tiny green ooze on it, making pit traps a bit deadlier, locking people in a room and throwing an ooze in there, etc.

But there are classes and spells that can control them direct.

>>
>>52990991
There should be items called Bottled ooze or Ooze bottles.

Otherwise its tough. There might be a spell called Ooze Puppet too.

You can try Lesser Create Demiplane to transport all of the creations to the temporary plane, then when you need them, would dispel the plane, causing them to pop out within his vicinity (typically in an enemy stronghold or similar fun locale) to wreak havoc in mass.

Otherwise create ooze is very niche and create construct is much better.

It's a Paladin's duty to stand even against his own god, even against loss of his own life or powers, if it means doing the right thing. No one is above the law.

>>
>>52994824
If I remember correctly, above mythic there is a level called divine for gods. In mythic levels you can start to fight their avatars which are like, a portion of their power manifested, but nowhere near their full might. If it was THE strongest paladin, it would need to be a few of them. If I recall something actually happened where seven of the strongest paladins got together to defeat the avatar of tiamat and seal her away when she was weakened.

It is very difficult to kill gods unless you yourself have a divine score or some sick-ass magic and trickery up your sleeve.

Sup /tg/, I'm the DM from last night that was talking about a Discworld Campaign.

Today my party got together to tell me that they want to 'reboot' at a different area in the setting, in addition to making new characters. I also wanted to get more players(we only had 3), and starting over at level 3 was better for getting new players on instead of level 7. And besides, the campaign power level was getting too high, too fast. Like, to a point that at level 7 with only 3 people, the only way I could even feasibly 'scare' the party away from something was to plop down a motherfucking Balrog/Balor, and even then they were at a point they could 'potentially' kill it.

So I went and got two more players, both really cool dudes that I was in a different campaign with, and I had them all make new characters while I came up with some new city states for a new region.

And while I was coming up with a city state whose major problem was democracy itself, one of my party members took me aside... And each player has me talk to them alone, away from the rest of the party.
> Player 1: "Yo, can I make a lawful evil character"
> Player 2: "Hey man, I want to make a neutral evil cleric"
> Player 3: "Yea, I want to make a neutral evil cult-leader bard"
> Player 4: "Can I play an anti-paladin?"
> Player 5: "Yo, I wanna play an evil character?"
> MFW

How do you play a barbarian without defaulting to the generic hulk attitude? People say it's possible but I'm not creative enough to know how.

Also, if I'm using a 2handed weapon, why would I want to play a barbarian over a fighter? Why would I want to play a fighter over a barbarian?
>>
>>52994153
>And when they go back on their word because they've been corrupted by dark forces or madness, what then
Then they're still Good, by definition, unless there's another god of goodness that's superior to them by definition. If Ahura Mazda goes mad and you don't follow him, you become Evil by definition of opposing Ahura Mazda. If Spenta Mainyu goes mad, you can remain good by following Ahura Mazda, because Ahura > Spenta.
>>
>>52995357
Well, there are a hundred ways to play a barbarian. My favorite is weightlifting muscleman who worships the god Kord, god of lifting and battle. You could also try playing as a tribal warrior or caveman, any sort of combination. But barbarians make a particularly flavorful worshipper of gods of battle.

anyways, if you are using a two handed weapon, (which you should if you are a barb) you will be getting a hundred times more bang for your buck when it comes to your insane strength and rage. People pick barbarians over fighters because of high HD, super high damage, and the rage powers. There are many to choose from, like raging hurler, the leap and pounce tree, and body bludgeon, plus a ton more.

You also have access to invulnerable rager, which is super excellent barbarian archetype.

People would pick fighter for (slightly) higher defense, extra feats, and weapon specs. But just using a two handed weapon, you wont usually be able to get as much damage out as a barbarian, but you might have room for more combat feats.
>>
>>52995357
>Barbarian > Fighter
Str stacking for max damage

>Fighter > Barbarian
Better armor, more feats.
>>
>>52995273
Not a story that actually happened but I had a chance to play the first book of Carrion Crown straight, and the entire time I was thinking to myself that it'd be a lot better played up as a Tim Burton style comedic horror adventure.
>>
>>52995357
Remember anon, just because the class is a Barbarian uh, does not mean you are supposed to be the Incredible Hulk or something, it just means that you have this kind of inhuman strength or ability to unlock your adrenaline when you need it

Rage itself does not forbid you to speak or anything, so its not exactly something like Frenzied Barbarian's frenzy where you literally lose all sort of rational mind. It can instead be a sense of extreme focus(there are archetypes for this) or a big adrenaline rush instead of losing control of yourself

For my latest Barbarian, hes this mercenary who outside the job, is this silly, often foolish, happy-go-lucky person who would always prefer violence to be a last resort, but in battle itself, when it seems peace is not a solution anymore, hes not afraid to cleave somebody in twain to make a point and actually enjoy the fight in process, but I make it clear that he has not gone frothing mad, just unlocking the limits of his body
>>
>>52995357
Lemme 'splain it to ya, sonnie.

>Generic Hulk Attitude
You can play the rage as a number of things. There was an article somewhere on a blog about fifty different ways to fluff the rage. A couple off the top my head? Battle trance, fight-or-flight response, being driven by an insatiable desire for glory, all of them "fit" the mechanics of rage to an extent.

Secondly, you play a Barbarian with two-handed weapon because it requires investment in maybe two feats (Power Attack, Furious Focus) and then you can go anywhere else with the build. Fighters excel when you need a LOT of feats to make a combat style work or come online early (ranged, Dex-to-damage, throwing weapons even), and you want more consistent damage over time.
>>
>>52995357
Barbarians are generally the better choice for straight two handed. You won't be getting a lot more extra defense with that heavy armor than medium armor and barbarians can take invulnerable rager for free DR which is a ton better than a few extra points of AC
>>

>>
>>52995459
There's no fix to alignments. You either accept them and take advantage of them as they are, or you chop them up and toss them out. Any issues with them and their intention is unavoidable by their nature.
>>
>>52995424

>>
>>52995519
Alternatively, can I skip Power Attack until level 3?
>>
>>52991215

Always play as a man unless you have very good reasons to pick a woman.
>>
>>52995459
Divorce them from gameplay so people stop arguing about whether or not you can make an undead that's unaffected by Smite Evil and make Smite Evil "Smite" and just work on whatever your god says is evil (so Pharasma will always be able to Smite an undead no matter how amazingly virtuous they are and someone who worships Asmodeus will be able to Smite angels), and Circle of Protection against X just works against anything you designate.

Make Lawful Moral (strength of personal moral compass) and Ethical (how much you care about the jurisdiction you're under)
Make Good Benevolence / Malevolence (do you think you're doing the right thing) and Selfish-/Selflessness (are you doing shit for yourself, for your group, or for literally everyone)
There
This also makes Hitler Benevolent Neutral as a bonus
>>
is there ever a reason not to take leadership if you have a high charisma?
>>
>>52995560
That's not how divinity works anon. Ahura Mazda is not a good person, he is Goodness. You don't define Ahura Mazda in relationship to Good, you define Good as "Ahura Mazda". Gods aren't just bigger people no matter what cursory readings of folklore and your common sense tells you.
>>
>>52995577
Yeah, the DM banned it.
It's not always useful depending on your campaign setting and eats a feat, which might be in short supply depending on your build
>>
>>52995577
It's a pain in the ass for your GM, slows down the already slow combat, and makes you look like a maximusdickus.
>>
>>52995519
Just go human, but barbarians need two feats to be good. Power attack, and Raging Vitality. Raging vitality stops you from instantly dieing due to HP loss from rage loss when you fall unconscious. Plus getting your rage even better.

>>
>>52995577
If you can win without it, all it's doing is slowing everything down all the time. It's objectively one of if not the most powerful feat though, so what I'm talking about is literally equivalent to speedrunning strats, not overall power.

>>
>>52995681
Racial Heritage (Storm Giant), Storm Soul, and Storm Warrior.
>>
>>52995459
Alignments aren't a problem, people's interpretations are.

It's an inherent issue that Morality is full of grey areas, but it'd be a lot less muddy if it was Order and Chaos rather than Law and Chaos, so people don't go crosseyed and think it means local laws instead of any kind of compacts you've agreed to.

Actual laws in this case are societal compacts. You follow the laws, and the laws will protect you. Violate them, and you will be punished. You can choose to not abide by those laws, but doing so and not violating them is done by not living in that area. It's one of those 'by living here you agree to X' things. Like how supermarkets have those 'we reserve the right to check bags' signs. It's a condition of entry.

But then there's other things. Promises are one. Keeping a promise even if you really don't want to is Lawful, because you're abiding by a compact. Keeping a promise to do a thing you were gonna do anyway though is probably just neutral since it didn't change your course of action.
>>
>>52995664
This is how I feel too. Any of the so called "legitimate" uses of the feat for full sized parties shouldn't be a feat, they should just be a matter of your interactions with NPCs.
>>
>>52995699
That is a good way to describe it. Barbarians in general you can build pretty much any way and still be good with just those two feats.

>>52995717
That is a very flavorful backstory for a barbarian. I like it. Storm warrior might make up for missing power attack, but desu, I would probably take power attack level 1, storm warrior level 3, and raging vitality level 5
>>
>>52995718
Alignments are a problem because morality isn't a grey area in D&D/PF, there's defined alignments for entire species, and there's actual gameplay reliances on your alignment.
>>
>>52995622
who cares
>>
>>52995769
Because in general a creature is evil or neutral or whatever. An evil orc might give a kid a flower one day without eating it, but in general the orc is evil
>>
>>52995754
It wouldn't be so bad if Storm Warrior didn't require both Racial Heritage and Storm Soul. It's a fun feat, but the investment required kind of blows, especially when Power Attack is so important.
>>
>>52995769
alignments don't lock down a particular creature. Just because kobolds are evil, does not mean all kobolds have to be evil. Or vice versa. What it means, is creatures inherently evil, like undead (except for rare exceptions) are evil and affected by spells that target evil.
>>
>>52995815
An LG Kobold doesn't get hit by Smite Evil, I'm pretty sure.
>>
>>52995805
Just take storm warrior level 3 and power attack level 1. No biggie. Your barbarian will already be a giant among men. He better have 20 strength and super high con too.
>>
>>52995769
The looser you treat alignments, the better off the game would be, I think.

Heck, what I would do with Paladins is scrap Detect entirely and... maybe make Smite work on anything, but do half level (min 1) damage bonus rather than full level?

Contrast it with Challenge. Challenge is DAMAGE. But Smite is still +to-hit and +AC vs anything you choose to use it on. A more defensive/supportive bent.

And Paladin is super solid, losing a little bit of damage won't hurt them if they can use it on anything.
>>
>>52995769

I've been having fun playing off some of these mechanics.

> Drowners that play off the whole "not magic undead", in that they aren't scanned by detect magic, nor are they scanned by detect undead, but they are harmed by spells that effect undead. You just gotta learn the signs that point to drowners being nearby, such as bogs with an acidic smell, or bodies floating around sources of muddy water.
> Certain kinds of vampires that aren't bothered by sunlight. They're merely not **invisible** under it. The party loves going after these because their feathers can be used to make a magical cloak which gives a hefty stealth bonus when not exposed by the light of a natural fire.
> Huge monsters that rely on HARD fortitude saves(enough to threaten the tank) alongside con-damage to attack the players, which forces the cleric to stay on his toes and horde stat restorations.
> Going after fae means that having cold iron on you is absolutely essential. There's a high-level fae monster out there that can straight up command you to kill yourself, and unless you have cold iron on you, you're looking at passing some fairly difficult will saves.
And just recently:
> A squad of lich-cultists(just level 2 peasants with 'zealot' morale and only 9 hp with AC11) wielding Bulls-eye lanterns. They're actually ferrying around SWARMS of lurkers in light, so if you get caught in the beams, you'll quickly find yourself eating anywhere from 12 to 36 attacks. The alchemist's haemonculous would have gotten eaten if it weren't for a smarter party member dropping a fireball directly onto the 'monculous.

Most of this stuff is me trying to make combat more complicated and more interesting for the combat-monster party. Everyone is so deadly that if I just throw a monster with 100 HP at them, it'll die in a single round, so the monsters wound up being just as deadly, and reliant on strange mechanics to try and keep the party on their toes.

All the more reason for me to have restarted the campaign at a lower level. I made the mistake of being too generous with the loot. I was giving too much gold away to the party, and awarding too much experience, so the party got too big for their breeches.

This time around, I'm going to start throwing more puzzles at them, as well as more general hazards.

I think for those reasons, it works for the scene.

I usually give them lots of clues to what's going on, and for the most part the party is pretty good at paying attention and deducing what's going on. They might encounter a monster that's been eaten, which gives them a chance to perform an autopsy to find out clues as to what killed it. I can let them roll checks, or I can let the cleverer ones ask questions.

In the case of a ekimmara, they found:
> goblins that had chunks bitten out of them and they were drained of blood(Probably vampire? I give an immediate knowledge religion for this).
> Goblins were picked off 1 at a time, most had surprised looks on their faces, (stealthy attacker?)
> [Heal check]: No defensive injuries
> [Perception/Survival]: The goblins were trying to light torches in a hurry
> [Religion/Local(I make the check easier depending on how many clues they find)]: You think this could be an Ekimmora, it's a strange kind of vampire that lives in swamps, and is well known for having the ability to turn invisible. I'll let you ask three questions.

Worst case scenario, they get relevant knowledge checks, with little bits and blurbs, as well as questions if they score particularly well. I even give them bonuses or additional tidbits if they're thorough enough in paying attention to the various clues around them.

The party doesn't need to be ignorant if I supply them with the ability to figure out what's about to happen. In the case of their first Ekimmora, they figured out that they needed to have fire on hand to defeat it's invisibility. The alchemist had healing skills to figure out more information that would let him deduce the monster was invisible, fighter had survival and perception to figure out how their fight went down, and the cleric had the knowledge to bring it all together.

>>52996278

I actually played one in a side game. Granted, I was using it with a friends home brew initiating kineticist archetype(that actually stacked with things) and some ridiculously generous house rules.

Well the beastiary is unclear how many Grim Reapers there are. Lesser Deaths are just reapers, but beast V says nobody has ever seen or heard of two Grims at the same time. Also:

>Lesser deaths are the weaker cousins of grim reapers. It is whispered among dark cabals and occult fellowships that the first soul unshackled from its mortal coil faced its final judgment with scorn and defiance. This creature was so outraged by the metaphysical order of the multiverse that it became a kind of rogue deity dedicated to the ending of all other lives. Cuz Speed Motif Henshin Heroes can go really fast, Clock Up to haste themselves, and eventually just Time Stop through sheer FAST.

GM is starting us at level 7/mythic 3. We're basically supposed to be a nation's emergency military equipment when they need to drop a squad into what would otherwise be a suicide mission.

Apparently we were basically put through a program where they test children for latent mythic spark. If you have a non-awakened one they train you, then if you graduate they will slowly drip feed you more mythic power.

We're supposed to be squad 14, or in other words 14th from the top.

Yea this is a pretty typical thing for me to do when I want to introduce a custom monster that isn't in the Bestiary. It's kinda not fair to throw a monster at the party that they can't kill for reasons not immediately obvious, unless they get a chance to investigate and figure out the dangers beforehand.

Anyway, I need some ideas for good aligned monsters, now that the party has turned evil and restarted in a totally different area of the world. No more Ekimmoras, they have traveled far beyond the mountains and swamps of northern Kal-Vortun. They're now in a basin that features vast rolling high-lands with great rivers, and treacherous deep canyons. In a five month's journey across rough terrain to the north-east, lies the Pinnacle mountain range. Another seven months journey over even rougher terrain would take them to the Teeth of The Turtle. Three months eastward by road can take them to frigid coastlines, and vast redwood forests. Where they can find *not scandanavia*, *not france*, and *not britain*.

First we have Grim Reapers

Its text refers to MINOR Reapers, and the link leads to here
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/undead/minor-reaper/ Which have the Evil subtype for some reason.

But then there's ALSO Lesser Deaths
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/undead/death-lesser/

Which are actually from the same book as Grim Reapers, but the text in Grim Reaper points to Minor Reapers, which weren't even IN that book, but from an AP book.

Weird.

Gotta say, all this talk has gotten me thinking about a skeleman I wanted to make at some point.

It'd make a neat backstory element that he talked to Death when he originally died.

Except it was this one. https://youtu.be/DHSwvtHFsOU

Once I played a skeleton gunslinger who found aztec gold but was betrayed by his gang who killed his wife and kid, then crucified him in the desert, but left a coin as a sort of ironic twist. A native shaman watched this and used magic and the curse of the coin to return him as an intelligent undead looking for revenge.

It was sick, I did a dual wield revolver build, and my quest was finding the members of the gang. First was a robotic bandito who liked explosives and gatling guns, the second was a pale stranger (which we did a super cool old-western duel with) and the last was a dark preacherman type cleric.

Swanky.

My thinking for my lad was that he died, did the whole 'undead via unfinished business' thing, and then... promptly finished it. And sort of hung around after that, having picked up a somewhat devil-may-care worldview.

I will admit it's somewhat barebones right now as far as backstories go, but he'd probably get fleshed out some more when/if I ever get to use him in a game.

I think I'll wait and see if we can't maybe use PMs to run a dream sequence or sequences to deliver on actually writing out some of the goods before I spill anything. I appreciate your interest, though!

Okay so, long story short there's essentially a cabal of different grown, Adult dragons that have basically conspired to end the civilizations of the "lesser races" as we know it using various means, resources, and in some cases armies. All of these guys, by the way, are being given advice on what to do by a dragonborn sorceror lich with an insanely high Cha and a very in-depth plan that he presented to all of them, convincing them that it would definitely work.

We've got a dragon who's all about building constructs, his signature style is clockwork creatures similar to the Guardian of the PC's village (really excited about the new clockworks in the new Bestiary!).
There's a dragon that's all about undead, haven't decided if I'm going to make him a dracolich yet but obviously he's all about them waves of undead. He's also spreading seeds of negative energy through the lands that's causing undead to sprout more often wherever dead bodies are found.
I've got a Nature/plant dragon who's basically super old and wishes to bring everything back to zero, before civilization when nature ruled all. His signature method is plant invasions, you'll know when it's happening when plants that aren't native to your region begin showing up.

The last two are where I'm beginning to come up short. I know I want to make them a very creepy brother and sister duo based on the concepts of time/space (so Time and I guess Vortex would be their species types) and I want to make them really funky as enemies, almost Alice in Wonderlandey, but I don't know what their army (if they'd even have one) could possibly be and what their end goal would be, since I imagine their personalities to be very flighty and almost fey-like. Maybe I should abandon the Time/Space aspect and do something with Dreams/Reality instead...

>>fleshed out
fuck off

nah but seriously thats usually alright. Make him a wizard too, to add to the 'no sense of right or wrong' sort of idea.
>>
>>52997087
>their army
Time and Space use either
1. a combination army, this is your excuse to put in expies of literally any army you find cool. Bring in Roma Invicta and Mongols and Brits fixing bayonets and HOMM armies of 10000000 power liches and anime armies and shit.
2. They don't have an army, they don't need one, the only support they need is each other

As for endgoals I imagine they'd be into creating worlds i.e. fucking. Only problem is, creating a new world has a good chance of destroying the current world.

Have you considered shadowdracoliches.

But on another matter, there literally are alice in wonderland style dragons. Called jabberwocky and the other creatures related to them. you will be able to work them into the game. (They ARE pretty much fey dragons after all)
>>
>>52997129
The Jabberwocky isn't as cool as it was in Alice in Wonderland.

>>52997129
there was a shadowdracolich in faerun that was pretty cool. Took over a dwarf fortress in a mountain and stole all their gold while turning them into her undead army right?
>>
>>52997129
Considering that the evil Dragonborn is also an expert in dealing with Darkness-based magic I actually HAVE considered shadowdracoliches but I'm unsure if I'll actually go that route, I figure the construct dude is actually more of his right hand man, leading to shadowdracoclockworks
>>
>>52997107
I was thinking wizard, yeah. Wizard, Incanter, maybe Hedgewitch With Black Magic and Covenant, or maybe Charlatanism, something like that.

I will confess, the very first time the first inkling of this guy came to me was while I was listening to this one loop for... mmmmany hours. https://youtu.be/S7bkdvAVdIM

So even if he isn't much of one himself, he'd be accompanied by his cadre at least.

This was also when I was pondering a Death talent that lets you raise skeletons of HD-less races with Warrior levels.

>>52997155
The whole vorpal thing with the Jabberwock is great. Like Big Pappa Wock got vorpally wrecked so hard that all his descendants are instinctively piss-scared of it.
>>
>>52997169
clockworks can't become undead since they are you know, undead. But in my mind an incoporeal dragon that is also a lich seems like a tough enemy to fight.

But if you have a good idea go with it boio
>>
>>52997194
Somehow hedgewitch does not seem too good, what with it all being about positive energy and all. But wizard with conjuration is always a good type of 'blast it all I am a fucking wizard' type of wizard
>>
>>52997203
Essentially the darkness that the Main Big Bad uses is more like a saturday morning cartoon villain except not campy, it takes an already existing creature/construct and infuses it with (literally) dark magic that allows it to do really funky stuff like fuse with other darkness-infused creatures/constructs, or in some cases gives a low % miss chance due to the inky blackness making it difficult to properly land a hit.
>>
>>52997236
... OH. Not the Hedge Witch archetype for Witches, the Hedgewitch class for Spheres of Power.

3/4 BAB, 3/4 Casting, and they get two neato traditions that determine what other class features you get. Like Black Magic is hexes and curses, Covenant is postivie/negative energy stuff like channels and Palatouches and Antipalatouches. Charlatanism is roguebardishness.
>>
>>52997289
I was never a fan of casters that try to be fighters. You just get all your super cool spells way too late.

Yeah well, that's the thing with Spheres.

That's a lot less of an issue.

You can raise skeletons from level 1 if you want to, but that'll be one of only two or three tricks you'll have.

You need higher CL to get at Advanced Talents, yeah. But you're more free to be able to get at least CLOSE to a concept from the get-go.

If you're not familiar with Spheres of Power, it's an alternative casting system that has CL scale like BAB, so a level 20 3/4 caster would have 15 CL. It also operates off a mana bar, and you acquire talents as you level to spend on acquiring your magic. It enforces specialization. Vancian magic is out the fucking window.
