So I'm writing some fluff for a post Apocalyptic game I'm designing & I want to rename Columbus Ohio something cool because Christopher Columbus is a shitty person. What would be interesting? My only idea is Renaming it Columus, which isn'the that exciting.

Go spaghetti western and rename settlements after concepts that are relevant to the players. For example, in that one Sharon Stone movie, the town is called Redemption.
