GW seems hell-bent on giving everyone plate armour, even the most basic infantryman must have plate in the new setting.
>>
>>52949996
Those actually look more or less the same.
>>52950028
The models for these dudes have chainmail and a helmet.

Only Hammerers and Ironbreakers have plate. Also the Ironbreakers woth guns, and new Longbeards. Some old Longbeards also had plate though.

The only major change Dwarfs ever had was when GW tore down Marauder and burned it.
>>
>>52950071

If they ever get around to rehashing what was the old Dwarf range for AoS they'll probably drop the classic Dwarf warrior box and just have Longbeards be the new core. Hence why I want 3 boxes of them ASAP.

Giving Slayers any kind of armor is too much.
>>
>>52950356

Wow 5 examples. I'm clearly wrong.

Meanwhile they have an entire faction of gold super men.
>>
>>52950443
You said the most basic infantry men must have plate, and that GW was hell-bent on giving everyone plate.
But the only new faction where everyone has full plate is Stormcast.
>>
>>52950213
Scaly skin was basically plate armour but better, though.
>>
>>52950496

Okay there are two archetypes, evil barbarian muscle man who wears nothing and nice civilised man who wears plate.
>>
>>52950497
Plate was 4+
Scaly skin on Lizardmen was 5 or 6+.
>>
>>52950531

Plate was 3+ wasn't it? Heavy armour was 4+.

Kharadon Overlords are good and wear mostly rubberised suits.

Shills out in force today.
>>
>>52950583

I get confused because Empire knights with lance and shield always had a 1+ and that was usually the only interaction we had with plate. So I guess take away 3 for barding, shield and mount and yeah it must have been a 4+.
>>
>>52950549
>>52950583
Light was 6+
Heavy was 5+
Plate/Gromril/Chaos was 4+
You had to go to magic armour to get a naturally higher save, but things like shields, being mounted and having barding could increase the save.
>>

I'm just pointing out that not everyone, or even close to everyone wears plate in Age of Sigmar.

it's actually much more related to the amount of animalistic degeneration the individual vampire has experienced, while Blood Dragons are usually very Composed, they don't degenerate at the same rate as Carsteins.

On top of that Carsteins are close familiars to bats and wolves, and Carstein Vampires that lose their mind are turning into Varghulfs and other Beasts.

Both Vlad and Mannfred have been dead several times, and thus are quite far gone mentally and physically. But younger and less degenerate Vampires aren't that animalistic yet.

but your pic is a pretty good depiction of what a degenerate female Carstein Vamp would look like.

Morglum Necksnapper and his Big Un's
Grom the Paunch
Hobgobla Khan and his Wolf Boyz

Carroberg Greatswords

>>
>>52954471
Ruglud is so far removed from GW canon its ridiculous.

Orcs who learn, use battle tactics, win without forming a WAAAGH, and can actually read and write. Autist newfags would shit themselves to death over it.
>>
>>52954471
GALLOPER GUNS!

>>
>>52953955
Any source on them turning into anything other than vargheists and shit? I thought all the beastly degeneration was bat-themed.

I really like werewolves but only when they're hideously savage and undead
>>
>>52954603
I don't think they turn into anything other than Degenerate Bat Monsters in the end(commonly known as Varghulfs), but I do think depending on a Carstein Vampires personal tendencies they may express more wolfish features when going berserk. And looking at the details, even Varghulfs and Vargheists have some Wolfish influences alongside the obvious Bat ones.
>>
>>52954603
Ulrika: Bloodborn.

A Lahmian fucked a Strigoi. She gained the ability to turn into a wolf when she drank his/her blood during coitus.

In old continuity Neferata turns Lahmians into cats sometimes.

Those are the only indications. Technically Von Carsteins should be wolfy and Von Carsteins batty. VC specifically have Dire Wolves because of a connection to them, like Dracula. Strigoi are the ones with the giant bat monsters as kinfolk.

But GW couldn't make up its mind and gave little thought to the Bloodlines after 6e, so everything is Von Carstein.
>>
>>52954824
I mean VC wolfy and Strigoi batty.
>>
>>52954506
Ruglud is pretty cannon... He was created for the old 'Regiments of Renown' range in the mid 1980s... then (iirc) again slightly later and once more at some point in the late 90s.... I think the fluff was that he stumbled into a dwarvern (possibly Chaos dwarf) barrow with his Boyz and stripped the corpses of armour and weapons.
>>
>>52954824
>>52954841
Yeah I getcha. This is good to know though because it means there's precedent to mix it up a little for my conversions. My army is mostly Blood Dragon, but still.
>>
>>52954870
>>52954603
I think that there's mention somewhere that Von Carstein Dread Abyssals have monstrous wolf heads. It's not a transformation, but it continues the wolf theme.
>>
>>52954841
>>52954824
the way I remembered it the Carsteins were based on Dracula, so batty but with inherent influence on wolves. Strigoi are the ones with inherent ties to Ghouls, I guess? Not all Vampires have Animal Familiars, like Blood Dragons.

So I'm getting mixed Signals here, why is Asuryan called the Creator again? He didn't create the Elven Race, that was Isha.
Did he create Ulthuan?
>>
>>52954866
Shit, you're right. I was thinking of Ugezod.

>>52954886
Strigoi alternate between anything feral, wolves, bats, and just the undead living mixes.

Whatever that particular writer isn't giving to VC is Strigoi.
>>
>>52955178
Thanks to retcons, Asuryan didn't do jack shit except fuck up and create Dark Elves after Khaine trolled him but refused to do anything about it.

In old continuity he's Elf Zeus. Created Elves, rules over the other gods, notorious for not wanting to get involved in conflict between other gods but is supreme when he does.

Ulthuan was created by all the gods after the huntress killed the god of dragons. Its his corpse.
>>
>>52951347
that looks fucking retarded

Like most MMOs, Age of Reckoning had issues where you'd hit the best looking sets midway through levelling and then end up stuck with some absurdly over the top shit once you're finished.
>>
>>52955544
Did you ever actually play the game? It had a system where you could overlay the appearance of on armour onto another. Your enemies would see what you were wearing, but you and your allies would see the better set. You could also dye it.
>>
>>52954449
When you say "Empire" are regiment of renown welcome ?
>>
>>52953510
I've always thought it should vary based on how well the vampire takes care of itself. The type that likes to seduce and manipulate should probably look attractive if their human form was. Simply because they are likely going to be constantly drinking blood and paying attention. The type that sits around reading necromanic tomes all day like some obese neckbeard should be rotten as hell and make Orlock look handsome because they likely don't give a shit.

>>52954824
>But GW couldn't make up its mind and gave little thought to the Bloodlines after 6e, so everything is Von Carstein.

Pls don't remind me. They went from bloodlines are utterly defining to every vampire linage can shift their type depending on how they live to who knows because everyone is a Von Carstein.
>>
Since we're talking about vampires: 8th ed AB mentions Sylvania being ruled by an elector count. No previous fluff supports the claim. I've seen mentions of Carstein boasting receivable claims to the imperial throne.

What's going on?
Sylvania has no runefang and is never mention as being an electoral province, where does this come from?
>>
>>52955854
Sure, as long as it makes sense for them to fight for the Empire. There's a lot of limitations (can't make new models, for example) but I'm just getting a general idea for things that I could possibly work on.

>>52956618

Well, there are two Runefangs left over - Solland and Drakwald's. There was at least one time where the Drakwald runefang was given to the von Bilhofen's of Middenland, during the Age of Three Emperors, in return for their support.

If you want to ignore how inconsistent that bit of lore is, you might argue that it's part of a von Carstein claim for legitimacy, or maybe a human agent set up to smooth bureaucratic things over so the Vampires don't have to deal with it, and taxes are always on time.

the fact that norsca projects any power at all doesnt even make sense and is just typical chaos handwavium
>>
>>52960083
Doesn't really make sense. Ignoring how Kislev keeps on having to get propped up by southern nations more and more, and how Norsca doesn't really have that big a draw to it (bit more Chaos-tainted than most non-Chaos Waste lands, not really developed, full of dangerous creatures), their army is primarily based around light cavalry and infantry. They don't really have the means to take, let alone hold, the mountainous and forested Norscan lands. Especially when they'd fight for just about every inch.

It'd be cool to get an Orc Waaagh up there though, shake things up a bit. Or to have some actual southern Norscan kingdoms, not just vaguely mentioned stuff in some lore.

to add onto this i present this for consideration

norsca just confuses people and would be better served being kislev clay. people mistake norsca for the chaos warriors but the "real" chaos warriors actually come from north of norsca and there is another sea separating the norsca and the real chaos lands. the people in norsca and smaller than the other real chaos warriors and the nobility and many warriors in kislev are directly descended from these "real" warriors aka they are tall manly badasses.

kislev is only weak because the plot demands it just like norsca is strong for the same reason. if kislev buttfucked every chaos army that tried to march south there wouldnt be much for the empire to do

plus it would have been an easy way to "advance" the setting since its sort of a bigish shift but at the same time only involves areas and factions no one gives a shit about

But Sibera never had much of a population. Norsca has a significant enough population that most of it can go raiding, and almost all of them are trained warriors - ignoring 'as many elves as the plot demands,' it's obviously a different level than the hunters of Siberia. And that's assuming that Kislev is at its strongest and ready to push into Norsca.

>>52960574
I don't really see how Norsca confuses people - most people can at least vaguely tell the difference between Chaos Marauders and Chaos Warriors, even if they often fight alongside each other.

In fact, doesn't having Kislev controlling Norsca make things even worse in a way? Now they'll always take all of the brunt of a Chaos invasion, and there won't really be any Marauders left to raid the southern nations by sea.
>>
>>52960574

Norsca is important because it's the incubator for chaos warriors. Very few people live any further north because it's obviously a total mess and unsuited to growing anything. Most Norscans aren't chaos warriors but most chaos warriors are Norscans.

Kislev has a good reason for being weak, it's a backwards land like Ostland and other provinces near it and it lies directly on the invasion route to the Empire.

Dude, I'm a Bretonniafag and I can tell the difference. If anything, Total Warhammer makes it easier on people since they're split up so.

Still doesn't really answer the question of how things are supposed to work if Kislev controls Norsca. Do the forces of Chaos just steamroll through them? Do they work their way around? Either way, you aren't getting raids from across the Sea of Claws anymore, and it actually amps up Chaos if they have to work so hard just to hit the Empire or Bretonnia.

Please take your headcanon elsewhere.

There are numerous books that detail Norscans becoming chaos warriors. Pretty much every army book and all the RPG sourcebooks.

Stop being one of those autists who demands that every speck of dust be aligned to a state. The granularity is what makes this setting interesting. If you want a setting where the map is symmetrical for the sake of being so there are numerous other games out there.

Next it will be 'what's the point of Tilea and Estilea?', 'why don't we just merge Cathay and Nippon'.

You know, reading the 8th edition army book doesn't make you an expert.

Norscans perhaps aren't the most numerous tribe but the rest of my statement still stands. Many Norscans pray to the chaos gods on go on to be warriors. The Kurgan are in no way qualified as being the 'true chaos warriors'.

>>52961370

Okay so Norsca becomes part of Kislev. What does this actually bring to the table? You can't have barbarians and civilised people operating in one state as it wouldn't make sense, the state relies on the application of the law to everyone.

So we basically have to destroy the Norsca and make it like Kislev. So now every chaos invasion does one of two things, it either gets defeated in a snowy region by the Kislevites, which would be pointless since that would exclude all the other factions, or it constantly destroys Kislev and reduces it to a condom for chaos for all eternity.

Meanwhile the few people who did care about Norsca have been pissed off.

That was kinda of canon in Oldhammer. Lamia vampires would always be pretty and taking good care of their looks because they're always socializing and making use of their contact and influence over humans, meanwhile Necrarch all look withered and almost mummy-like, simply because they don't give a damn about their own aspect and most don't have such an easy access to blood as the Lamias have.

Don't know about Blood Dragons and Von Carsteins, guess for those is up to every individual. Strigoi are basically beasts, so they're on the same boat as the Necrarchs.

>>

The looks depend on access to blood and exposure to dark magic.

Lahmians hang around people and suck s the time. As do Carsteins

Necrach just hang in the woods perfecting the use of necromantic spells and experimenting so don't get much blood.

Strigoi have to hide in graveyards and out of the way places or other vamps kill them do end up a bit... Funny.

According to lore, Sylvania was once an Empire Province under the rule of Count von Drak, but was destroyed and absorbed by Stirland after the Vampire Wars in roughly 2010 IC

The runefangs were made in 100 IC, but at the time, Sylvania was not yet under Empire domain, since it was conquered around 300-479 IC, probably by the predecessor of Emepror Sigismund II
So here's why Sylvania has no Runefang, much like the Westerland didn't when it was part of the Empire, before seceding and becoming the Wasteland and Marienburg

Now, Vlad von Carstein has claim to the title of the Emperor because on his deathbed Otto von Drak, last of his line, was convinced to marry his daughter Isabella to him, making him the next in line for the title of Elector Count, which Vlad eventually became.
Vlad, being an elector count, had claim to the title of Emperor as much as all other counts, but since Sylvania seemed much better controlled that other provinces, he thought to himself "why stop to a single province"

Thus began the vampire wars after decades of preparations, simply because Vlad was since the beginning an ambitious dick and knew that he'd never be elected emperor the traditional way
>>

>>52963316
>I don't see the Blood Dragons giving a single fuck about looks

The big thing I can see with them is they are constantly battling powerful foes and drinking blood. So there is likely a few of them that look relatively healthy even if they likely don't care. They rarely use magic either.

I'd say on average on order of how inhuman they look it would go something like Necrarch>Strigoi>Von Carsteins=blood dragon>Lahmia but changes depending on lifestyle of the individual. So a Lahmian who decided to live like a Necrach would very quickly start looking like a rotten hag.

>>52963481
>The looks depend on access to blood and exposure to dark magic.

It also I"m pretty sure depends on how skillful they are with dark magic. Someone with lesser skill is likely going to get more side effects and warping from the magic then those with greater levels. Just because they won't be as exposed.
>>
>>52963616
>Vlad was since the beginning an ambitious dick

Vlad is best boy forever. All the counts afterwards were a massive step down.
>>
>>52963678
Vlad would have been way better if he actually tried to take the moral high ground and unify the Empire by diplomacy rather than force.
>>
>>52963860
That would have been close to impossible given he is a vampire. There is no way in hell that would slip by and not lead to a war.
>>
>>52963891
The one ending up becoming Emperor did it by saving the Empire and without any legitimate claim. And honestly Sylvania under Vlad was probably better for his subjects than Talabecland was. Vlad fucked up by attacking first, he should have known better.

>>
>>52957051
I think it depends on what time period you're looking at...

Sylvania was part of the Empire when ruled by VonDrakk.

After VonDrakk's death, Vlad took over and waged war on the Empire, till he fell off a wall and died. Cue Vampiric infighting till they were all dead.

At this point it got absorbed back into the empire again, though it was largely shunned because stuff tended not to stay dead.

Manfred then rises from the dead and gets involved in that Chaos invasion bullshit that GW retconned. It's probably safe to say that the Empire weren't daft enough to consider themselves controlling the area at this point...

Then we have the End Times... which I didn't read, but seems to have involved a lot more of the dead VonC's coming back to life and the world exploding.
>>
>>52960675
The roman empire had many borders to guard, spreading their armed forces thin and a plethora of increasingly powerful confederates and empires as neighbors. Compare that to Kislev which has a safe border to the south and a bufferzon to its north (Troll County). Add to that the fact that Kislev is primarily, as I understand it, made up of harsh steppeland which provides ample opportunity to waste an invading force by attrition and hit-and-run-tactics. The Roman Empire on its hand had important territory just inside the border on multiple fronts (Gaul, Italy and Syria) which necessitated a much more decisive response.
That being said, one should never underestimate the military capacity of barbarians.
>>
>>52962781
Strigoi and Necrarchs are technically on different levels, because Necrarchs can actualy make use of dark magic to sustain themselves, so they need little to no blood. On the other hand, Strigoi still need blood - they just get it from the worst of sources, such as animals, recently dead corpses, and at best ghouls. A normal human would probably be a treat for them.

Kind of makes me wonder if someone ever locked up a Strigoi and fed him plenty of normal humans, to see if his form could somehow revert or he could regain more than just a bestial intelligence.

>>52968491
I personally find it fun, even if half the time I'm skipping the larger battles just because I don't want to deal with chariot spam. And it kind of allows me to think about factions in ways that normally I wouldn't - I didn't care for Nordland before, but now playing as Bretonnia I like to think of them as my northern bros to help me hold the coast against Skaelings. Getting a rare chance to actually fight alongside an AI ally is amazing, and watching knights charge and cannons fire is awe-inspiring.

Orion isn't a beastman, he's the avatar of Kurnous. Some concept art had him more tree-like in the winter.

The avatar of a deity doesn't have to change their shape or form - like how the Everqueen is the avatar of Isha, but doesn't change her shape. Or how Valten was something of an avatar of Sigmar, but didn't change himself.

It bothers me that half the races have their leaders literally chosen by their gods, but the avatar part itself isn't a problem.
>>
>>52970006
>It bothers me that half the races have their leaders literally chosen by their gods, but the avatar part itself isn't a problem.

>>
Now seriously speaking, for the sake of WFRP consider the Storm of Chaos to be canon, and that you need to continue the story after that event

What would happen to Archaon after being bitchslapped the way he was at Middenheim?
He isn't the first everchosen to fail in his quest of world destruction, but he's the first to survive the attempt. Would the Chaos Gods take back their blessings in disappointment, whould he be forced to do that shit of the everchosen from the beginning, would other chaos champions start to challenge him to take his title?
>>
>>52970150
Come on, you know there's a difference there. It'd be like saying Lizardmen are the same as Beastmen.
>>
>>52970236
The gods would take back their demons but not necessarily his blessings, however other chaos lords will challenge him. Archaon himself is left stranded in the middle mountains with beastmen and empire-based cultists as only reinforcements.
>>
>>52970236
I think it'd be cool if he had to reprove himself - he can't do the trials all over again, but he can defeat a champion of each of the four Chaos gods (as well as other challengers who will fight him for their own sake along the way), and defeat a prominent leader of each of the factions that he lost to - namely the Orcs and the Empire, but you can probably stretch to say Bretonnia and the Dwarves, though I don't remember how involved they were.

If you want something a little cooler than that, maybe he has to lead a force to extinguish the flame instead of the temple of Ulric, casting down a god in order to regain his favor in the eyes of the Chaos gods. No special powers, some or all of his artifacts missing - having to do it by sheer skill and strategy, in a scenario where he could easily die and where his own troops could betray him if he can't keep them in line by sheer force of will.
>>
>>52970318
Why would Archaon be stranded on the middel mountains? I reckon that despite the infighting it would take him nothing to just take that demonic horse of his and run back north with the others.
>>
>>52970408
Isn't most of his remaining forces in the middle mountains ?
>>
>>52970236
I always thought that after such a terrible failure, most chaos champions and forces would disband or attack him, not willing to follow his lead anymore. He'd probably just let himself be killed, or otherwise seen as a gigantinc fucking failure by both men and gods.

Losing as the everchosen is literally like walking into a zoo with a shotgun and drop it into the crocodile pit

I like the idea that he stills retain som of his powers and relics but none of his followers, and the gods start looking for a successor, and eventually there are Two Everchosen and shit really goes down in the chaos wastes

Well technically it says a lot about the French approach to colonialism compared to, say, the English - they believed integration of the natives was possible, but essentially only if they learned certain parts of French culture and fluent French - which also meant that they sent guys from France to run their colonies directly, with little natives getting into it. The English didn't think it was possible and just set up certain chieftains as intermediary rungs of their government. Then a guy from some French territory in the Caribbean whose name I can't remember basically wrote that that was all bunk and the French wouldn't really accept anyone different, not long before they started dropping colonies.

It'd be an interesting thing to work into Bretonnia - that they demand an almost completely uniform culture. You already see hints of this with how overall Bretonnia doesn't have the same variety as the Empire, and if they ever had colonies they'd probably copy and paste the Bretonnian system onto wherever they ruled rather than adapting.

horde*
>>
>>52971742
I play dark elves, so I only get three ranks, but other than that our troops are very similar.

Spear elves are not being taken for their attacks. They are blocks to grant rank bonuses and to support your heavy hitters. A block of 20-30 spears supporting 10-12 white lions or swordmasters is far better than 40-50 spear elves attacking on their own. The wide front of a horde also means you have a lot less options for dictating engagements, and your opponent can hit you with a more elite unit or two when they are ready to fight the giant wall of spears. I learned that lesson the hard way against all manner of chaos warriors, saurus, and elite elves.

If you split the units into two you can also have them support each other. A single horde cant wrap around a unit and its frontage is wasted. If your spears are broken into 2 units of 20, you can threaten flanks and might even get a supporting flank charge off, giving you more attacks against a single unit than a horde.
>>
>>52971856

Cheers for the advice, I did think they were a bit squishy to be running horde.

I only took 40 to make up my core for a 2500 list, the rest is 2x5 reavers and archers.

this is more of a historical question but ill ask it anyway

is this how the royal system for land works?

>kingdom ruled by kings>country ruled by counts>barony ruled by barons>dukedoms ruled by dukes

also is there historical precedence for multiple kingdoms being nested inside one over-kingdom? seems to happen a lot in fantasy. would it be a problem for each kingdom having its own king who then answers to the one high king?

I'd say he'd have a lot of issues very quickly. On the other hand it wouldn't be the end of him by any means as long as he is able to show he still is just as strong as they remember.
>>
>>52972016
Yeah, elves are just a big target in a horde, at least for core troops. They are more expensive than fodder hordes like skaven or goblins, and die too easily to elite hordes. Best to keep their size manageable so your opponent has to prioritize more targets.

One thing to remember is that you lose the staying power of a single large unit. You will be taking more leadership tests from missile fire or lost units than if you had a single large one. A unit of 40 in 6 ranks of 6 (and one of 4) is as durable as a horde, but still more maneuverable because of the smaller frontage. If you find yourself facing ranged or elite heavy armies, this may also be a good configuration.
>>

Blame the people too busy complaining about monsters and not enough time buying.

>>52971631

It wasn't massive, but GW did advertise nine models to coincide with the release of Total Warhammer.

They probably didn't do more because Fantasy was dead at that point and 40k is much more popular, especially among the video game crowd. They're probably selling more than nine because because outside of relatively decent sized or character models, Fantasy models were made to rank up and probably look like shit as one off collector's pieces. Eighth Edition is around the corner, so that might be part of it too.

>>52971704

Oh knock it off with the victim complex shit. There are still people at GW who worked on Fantasy and who likely have fond memories of it, but outside of when a game releases they're not going to drone on about a game that they no longer support.

Alternatively continue, it's kind of hilarious seeing people write shit like the removal of square bases being some kind of conspiracy to purposefully mock Fantasy fans. To see you smear with shit something you supposedly love by being obnoxious about it.

>>52971738

How exactly was GW involved enough with DoW3 to effect its quality? The shit they were involved with as far as it goes was probably the same as Total Warhammer in that they probably answered questions about the lore and did some advertising via Black Library, WD, and posters and handouts within their stores.

Orion more than the PK though.

i don't get why people prioritize 8ed and End Times over long established lore, in every armybook I ever owned the Phoenix Kings were described as avatars of asuryan after passing through the flame, and that was that, there was no question about their legitimacy until GW chose to turn the entire Elven Lore on it's head, and I don't see how 8ed or End Times overwrites lore that was firmly established by 6ed just because corporate suits want to push an agenda.

Most Egyptians fall under Caucasoid phenotype so tanned Caucasian *is* serviceable. If pressed I would say semetic though. The issue with saying just Egyptian is that Egypt was an empire that has had multiple migrations and was composed of 2 distinct kingdom; caveat: The population migration were probably not significant to the overall demographics as Egypt has always been a very large population center however it could create notable differences in regions or segments of society like the royalty/elites being related to the greeks (which was probably the smallest migration but it replaced the monarchy and formed a new Hellenized aristocracy)

i'd have loved is Vlad had been written as a real aristocrat of the night, tending to his peasant cattle as a nice garden, getting rid of the ugly and inbred and making sure they were okay by holding tightly the other vampires on leash, with an end goal extremely far because he's fucking pretty old himself and thus know the power of time.

Collection of free stuff from some Polish anon.

There is much polish stuff, but also official BL support PDF's and old english fanmade stuff, like fan 1st. ed. RPG supplement for Bretonia.

As Poland is getting it's the rest of 2nd ed. WHFRP line, that FFGotts refused to sell to Polish editor, translated and printed right now (inluding Thousand Thrones) I hope it makes any of you half that rad as we are there.

The first time dwarves implemented cannons was immediately after the skaven collapsed skavenblight by accident and caused earthquakes everywhere.
Guns are apparently a much more recent invention

9th Age is worse than AoS

go play the older editions
>>
>>52977188

Warhammer is no longer tied to a set of rules, it's more a universe that has a collection of models.

9th Age is quite good, every faction is pretty balanced. I would recommend checking out the quick start rules on their website.

But as I said, if you like Beastmen then just buy the models you like and use any rules.
>>
>>52977188
Depending on what's played around you you can consider Kings of War, the beastmen are fucking powerful.
>>
>>52981110
>>52981213

Their range goes from 'better at the GW look than GW themselves' to mediocre and fucked up proportions.
>>
>>52963650
>Someone with lesser skill is likely going to get more side effects and warping from the magic then those with greater levels
You got it backwards.
The stronger you are the more warped you are, this is why apprentice wizards look normal and wizards lords are nearly living torches.
In RPG it goes with mechanics. The more powerful wizard the more dice he have, the more dices thrown the more chance of chaos manifestation, more chaos manifestations, more arcane marks/mutation.
>>
>>52981341
Which ones are mediocre with fucked proportions ?

How do I make 1 v 1 fights more maneuvreable in WFRP2e?

At the moment the gang are participating in a Bretonnian tourney, but I'm scared about following the regular combat rules when they get to the melee's since that will just result in the guys standing next to eachother for the whole fight, maybe moving a yard or so every now or then when they use the maneuvre action.

Any ideas? Real fights were this constant back and forth around the arena. I want to try and capture that.
>>
>>52981636
I mean that more that if you are very skilled you aren't likely to screw up and wind up getting a face full of warp stone dust or screw up your ritual and rot off your limbs.

Kind of feel that if you are skilled at magic you should be able to figure out how to keep your exposure lower and know enough to avoid pit traps. While the newbie who goes balls to the wall and pulls some half bastardized ritual out of a tome he found is likely going to fail at the spell and get slammed with a ton of warping for not knowing what the hell they are doing with it. Especially with dark magic.

I'm not sure what to make of the Mark stuff, but I like this equipment list.
>>
>>52983171
Tome of Salvation has optional rules for Marks of the Gods where rolling doubles in your Wrath of the Gods roll would give you a mark of that god. Some affects are negative and some are positive.
>>
>>52981237

Nothing is worse than AoS.

9th Age is just 8th edition with more balance. If you don't like 8th edition then you'll probably not like 9th.
>>
>>52982421

The Dwarf hammerer unit equivalent. Their waist is too thin.

>Nothing is worse than AoS
So, it's better than WHFB?
>>
>>52983551

What part of 'nothing is worse' is confusing you?
>>
>>52983521
AoS is pretty successful mate, we might not like it here but pretending it's some piece of shit is a bit retarded.

There's a reason they're shifting many of the rules to 40k and people are celebrating.
