>>52930895
Good.

Maybe we'll get some better planeswalker removal than Dreadbore. Abrupt Decay is nice, but there's going to be things it can't hit.
>>
So is Faries a meme deck or is it actually good?
>>
>>52930895
>>52930938
it boggles my mind how they let it go to print. Platinum Angel costs 7 mana for the same effect, and sees fringe play. It also dies to path/terminate/cut/dismember So Wizards, in their wisdom, decides to reduce the cost by 4, make it so the effect doesn't die to path/terminate/dismemenber/cut/etc, and then also make it so that even if you kill it, they can just recycle old gideons to sustain it, who are also harder to kill.

This is better than Platinum Angel in almost every way, by a fucking lot, and any deck running white should consider playing it.
>>
>>52931015
Yes
>>
>>52931015
It doesn't actually do anything. Proxy the deck up and play it. It's pretty dull.
>>
hey, can someone buy me grixis ninjas. i really want to play this game but do not have the money. any rich anons out there. will give feet pics
>>
>>52931015
Not amazing but it's not bad. Because Your shit flies you get over most blockers, Bitterblossom gets you a chump blocker every turn and everything flashes iirc. I've been playing ir for like a week and it's decent. Do note Tron is almost an autoloss for you game 1. I have Fulminators and Ceremonious Rejections sided but it still doesn't always get me a win against it.
>>
>>52930438
TY for that. After DRS, BBE, Pod, Twin and Eye... I finally got the message.

With that he was able to destroy the format.
>>
>>52931228
Iirc you need Cryptics, Vendillion Cliques, and Snappys for that. Feet pics won't cut it unless they're like massive footfags
>>
>>52931395
What were his matchups?
>>
>>52931405
ok. how about gifts storm

>>
>>52931584
2 Tron matches
1 Death's Shadow Jund
1 Vizier Druid
1 Ad Nauseam
1 Mill
1 Smallpox

He only lost the VizierDruid match.
>>
>>52931598

Start with zombie hunt and work your way up. You could be asking for a deck of 60 forests and nobody would put in the effort of sending it to you.
>>
What decks do you guys own? Do you like to diversify your deck portfolio by using multiple types of decks?

I have Burn, Elves and Knightfall. All I need is some shitty control deck.
>>
>>52931703
Three of those aren't real decks.
He got absolutely stomped by the Vizier Druid. There was no response to CoCos whatsoever.

I have zero concerns about this memebrew as it stands. It probably loses to Elves.
>>
>>52931739
He lost the druid matchup due to a serious misplay on his part IMO. He might not have ultimately won it if he took the proper line of play, but he wouldn't have lost when he did.
>>
>>52931739
>>52931754
And I don't think this build is the actual build. I'm just saying that the new gideon allowed him to destroy some of the best decks in the format, while playing with memes, and being a moron.
>>
>>52931775
He also won heavily using Grixis Ninjas, so I wouldn't think too highly of the deck.

Hell, he could have even edited the video to show only the good matches. His following is big enough to drive some sales, so I wouldn't put it too far behind him to do something like this.
>>
>>52931598
>Get job
>Get cards
>Consistently top 8 GPS to get sponsored
>Get every deck free because sponsored
>>
>>52931825
The only match I know for sure he excluded is a tron matchup, since it was a duplicate. AgainstTheOdds videos also often see him losing 5-8 times in a row, so I doubt the edit the series for sells.

Furthermore, we already know Gideon is incredible, purely from analyzing the card.

Combine it all together, and the picture of a format defining card is becoming clearer and clearer.
>>

So I've concocted a brew that can semi-reliably win on turn 3.5, via that fancy new infinite mana set up and your choice of Genesis Wave, Chord of Calling, or Tooth and Nail. I feel like a lot of the list is just baggage/filler though, that or it could just be the nature of combo decks and not drawing what you need. Here's the list so you guys can shit all over it:

Creatures (26)
4 Vizier of Remedies
4 Devoted Druid
2 Wurmcoil Engine
1 Spawnsire of Ulamog
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Noble Hierarch
4 Sakura-Tribe Elder
3 Eternal Witness

Spells (14)
4 Chord of Calling
4 Collected Company
4 Genesis Wave
2 Tooth and Nail

Lands (20)
4 Windswept Heath
4 Temple Garden
7 Forest
5 Plains

Sideboard (Incomplete):
1 Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
2 Vines of Vastwood
4 Path to Exile

Sideboard is a work in progress. The eldrazi are there for Spawnsire, Paths are self explanatory, and the vines are there as an attempt at safeguarding the combo pieces against more interactive/removal heavy decks.

>>52933506
Okay, couple of things.

First, you have too many finishers. Cut down to about 5 total cards that you can finish off after assembling the combo. (Personally, I've always thought a classic infinate Fireball, or similar card is the way to go.)

Second, you don't have enough creatures to make CoCo good. See pic related. You're likely to hit one, but you always want to hit two. Jam more creatures, or cut CoCo.
>>
>>52933903
I would scrap then entire thing and start from scratch. I don't care enough to build a deck for you however

>>52933884
>uncommon
Mill like this in draft is very powerful.
>Inb4 fuck limited
Many people like it and it can be fun
>>
>>52933936
I personally run 8 finishers 4 chord, 3 duskwatch and a ballista, also coco is pretty much a win as I run 3 ewit and 3 Recruiter, I've only fizzled a couple times after casting coco with infinite mana
>>
>>52933936
Sure, as said I feel like a lot of the list is fat needing to be trimmed. At the moment it's more a "proof of concept", seeing what portions of the deck are actually reliable/consistent and shaving it down from there.

>>52933977
So you have no idea and just want to talk shit, got it.
>>
>>52933903
Here's the list I'm working with, you don't need to splash red or black desu
Creature (30)
4x Birds of Paradise
4x Devoted Druid
3x Duskwatch Recruiter Flip
2x Eternal Witness
1x Fiend Hunter
3x Kitchen Finks
1x Knight of the Reliquary
1x Magus of the Moon
1x Reclamation Sage
1x Scavenging Ooze
1x Spellskite
1x Viscera Seer
4x Vizier of Remedies
2x Voice of Resurgence
1x Walking Ballista
Land (22)
4x Forest
1x Gavony Township
1x Ghost Quarter
1x Kessig Wolf Run
1x Overgrown Tomb
1x Plains
1x Razorverge Thicket
1x Stomping Ground
3x Temple Garden
4x Windswept Heath
4x Wooded Foothills
Instant (8)
4x Chord of Calling
4x Collected Company
>>
>>52931015

>>
>>52930704
Selfinflicted Wound if you have black mana, Deflecting Palms otherwise.
If your meta is filled with boggles, consider maybe a Patrician's Scorn if you run Helix/Boros charm, it can be a really potent silver bullet imho. Destructive Rev is always amazing, or any green mass enchantment removal
>>
>>52934908
How much have you been playing burn? Deflecting palm bounds so many things from bogles to tron to infect to goy to.... Well I didn't come up with another one, but you know?
>>
>>52934764
why would you ever animate it?
>>
>>52935186
I've been playing burn for the past maybe 6 months, it's my only modern deck. Poorfag tho so I'm still not even done with the mb (need 1 more eidolon and I'm running a cinder glade instead of stomping ground)
My sb isn't that great but since I always top 4 at modern night I forgot I needed palms and such.
I've only played 2 tron decks and I can beat them both pretty easy. I have lost to goyf tho. No infect in my meta so that's not a worry
>>
>>52931015
It was a good standard deck that aged like milk. Bitterblossom was unbanned because even the notoriously gun-shy folks at WotC didn't perceive the deck as even remotely threatening.

Mostly against Bogles, I just do what I can and take my lumps.

B/W Gideon midrange is actually fucking nasty, it's very low to the ground and Lily can take over games following turn1-2 interaction.

Finally lost to Ad Naus, but I kept a really shitty hand with 3 discard spells into opponent's Leyline, and didn't draw into Disenchant. Opponent had enough mana for Echoing on Gideon + Lightning Storm. Wish I had drawn a Leyline of my own, as I think they only brought in the one Echoing.

there's a reason "Oops all Gideons" is gaining traction. running one AKH gid with three or four other ones is a non-losing strat.
>>
>>52931024
Platinum Angel doesn't die to creatures on board, though. If your opponent has creatures to kill you, then he can just kill Gideon first and then kill you. That doesn't work with Plat. Angel - it has to be removed.

What Gideon's emblem does do, though, is let you build a deck where board control is the only thing that matters. And he's White, which is the color best suited for locking down the board with Wraths and tokens.

4 Thing
4 Kiln
1 Bedlam
4 Bolt
4 Serum
2 Sleight
4 Morphose
4 Rage
4 Mutagenic
2 Apostals
1 Vapor Snag

1 flex slot
and 4 Probe

The flex slot was 1 Faithless, 1 Snag and 1 Bedlam, so I've jammed all 3. That leaves 2 free slots.
I've been liking Gutshot in one of the slots, and the last slot I'm still undecided on.

I also tried 1 Apostal 1 Stuborn and it was about the same as 2 Apostal. Not sure where it belongs but Stub is strong in the deck.

Would wizards ever make it so they could ban only certain pairings of cards? Like you can have GSZ in your deck or dryad arbor but not both
>>
>>52940776
Probably not. Many cards are banned because they limit design space by being too powerful with certain effects. GSZ and Pod are two of those bans, every creature printed required wizards to ask themselves "is this too powerful with pod/gsz". Of course that hasn't stopped them from printing horse shit creatures anyway so fuck me, right?

As others have said, add Surgical Extraction to the sideboard, it's an efficient way to shut off Tron. Replace Disenchant with Fragmentize, hits Leyline of Sanctity a turn earlier to turn on discard spells.
>>
>>52942573
I hadn't thought of using Lili but that's probably the way to go. I think 6 discard is better than the full set though, same with removal spells. I'd rather have some extra tokens (Bitterblossom maybe?) and a way to kill noncreature permanents, like Anguished Unmaking or Cast Out. Anything other than 4 Ghost Quarter/3 SB Extractions seems wrong, too. That package should make Tron winnable and Valakut a complete slaughter.

Lilly has been sweet. She discards extraneous Chads and can take over a game.

I like all the 16 card package of 1cmc killshit, discard helps deal with whatever you can't kill, but I do agree it may be too much. Trimming back and adding 2 Bitterblossom could make it have a better threat density.
I would say there's no more than 2 unlisted cards, and a numerical tweaking of the cards listed, that would form the perfect config. It otherwise seems like a solid, if bland, gameplan, and a tuned 75 could have 50+% matchups all around.

>slam my pushed planeswalker
>lol now you cant win unless you take time to kill every planeswalker I play and they all generate value and protect themselves, all while I sit back and play new threats every turn
I think it may be time for me to quit MtG, recent bannings show they have no idea what the fuck they are doing anymore, they had to ban 4 cards in Standard due to no answers being printed to combat the ridiculously pushed threats they print, Moderns ok atm but constantly suffers from the bullshit they do to it, and although Miracles deserved to get put down a notch they just inadvertently killed it and a few other fringe decks too while making Blue even better and more necessary to play then it already was.
Can we just have a format thats all sets up to M15 to avoid the cancer they began printing after that?
>>
Is there any format thats safe from Wizards ridiculous uninteractive bullshit, format ruining bannings, and pushed cards? Still its annoying, just another pushed walker used to sell packs and promote uninteractive walker slinging. Walkers can be fine but a 3 mana Platinum Angel is fucking obnoxious especially if you are behind, he even stays around and if you kill him and they drop AoZ next turn then you need to bust through a blocker and kill him too to win all while hes smashing face for 5 a turn afterwards and playing other threats.

What? Against DSJ, GBx you are even matched (biggest problem being early game hand disruption) and pretty much guaranteed to win if the game goes super long, very favored against burn from g1, favored against affinity post side, and unfavored against most combo decks with odds rising post board by a lot. The only decks that straight up takes a shit on you are the Tron variants unless you luck into the combo early and they miss on interaction via stone or red sweeper, admittedly it was a lot worse pre Eye ban but it's not good still by a long shot.

Even if that is the general outline you can tailor you deck to a specific meta, mix and matching your odds against the various matchups with shit like more mainboard Wall of Roots to shut down early aggression or a mainboard Courser or a mainboard Selfless if your meta is wrath heavy. It just seems to me that your local CoCo players are trash at the game and can't deckbuild/pilot their way out of a porta-potty.

What? If the deck wasn't good in the current meta it wouldn't be tier 2, that is literally the function of a tier system. Do you just not know what tiers mean or something?
>>
>>52945758
Tier 1 is the best decks in the format
Tier 2 is decks that can compete with Tier 1 but aren't played quite as much
Is that right? I guess I just wanted opinions on the deck and it's matchups rather than just something like "yeah the deck's tier 2, if you want to play it you'll have fun."
>>
>>52945778
Generally tiers are strictly by usage (% of meta game), and people can give whatever explanation they like for why they're at that level of usage. It's possible for tier 2 decks to be able to compete with some decks easily and have no game versus others, some might be all round match ups but aren't consistent enough.
>>
>>52945778
Basically what >>52945788 said. Tier 1 decks are the uncontested champs of the format. Tier 2 can compete with most Tier 1 decks, but tend to have a few matches bad enough that they keep them from the top. These bad matches can be made fair(er) though with sideboarding and a good pilot.
>>
>>52945820
>These bad matches can be made fair(er)
as long as it's not tron
>>
>>52945867
Fuck off goober, Tron is far from unbeatable.
>>
>>52945778
Eldrazi D&T has good matchups with the 3-4 color titans of the format, being DSJ, Grixis DS, Melira, Junk-Jund(less so due to bolt) etc as they disrupt and scale better than regular D&T but not so much they can race or out pace a DS/BGx deck that can push through the disruption, on the board at least. Naturally good-ish matches against Storm and combo decks in general, so-so against Tron (good hand disruption but you can't scale and the O-Stones are your bane), pre sideboard very bad against Dredge and even after you are relying on luck to draw your RIPs (you will note most lists run freaking 4 of them in the side).

E D&T is a bastard child in the middle. It has good hand disruption (4 scullers, 4 Seers +8 flickers) but that isn't always enough. You also mostly give up air for a ground assault as opposed to regular D&T in exchange for a faster clock but sometimes a single goyf, DS is enough to stop your pressure. A solid deck with flexible pieces that slot into legacy and fairly cheap if you put the Vials that cost close to 200 and 2-3 Bobs aside.

Also Skred fucking wrecks you bitchboi ass hard.

Splashing G or R, for now, is not an option.

I'm so fucking done people using tiers as deck strength basis. It just shows how shallow your understanding of the game is.

I've seen so many decks become top decks that were considered to be "tier 2-3 jank" that were misunderstood, because most of magic players are bad at deck building and the decks were still finding that last piece to tip the cup over. People also don't understand that decks to beat are sometimes worse than Tier 2 decks in certain meta, but because they are played the most they are still in that unbeatable champ list of "tier 1".

When 10-20% of meta is playing a deck, even a suboptimal list will put up results, maybe even top 8 just because of variances. (This isn't completely true, because your deck still needs a reasonable consistency to get through 8 or so rounds) But holy fuck, someone won a tournament with shitty Amulet bloom deck (cheater? Maybe, but someone else got into top8 with low metashare as well), someone won a tournament with a shitty lantern deck. RG valakut was a meme in the era of BG valakut, but now that's how they play it. UR storm, complete shit, put up top8. Skred, complete chaff, according to /tg tier4.5 complete garbage, put up top8 or did it even win?

Yes, banning changes the meta, but tier 2 decks are sometimes really good that just won't put up result because not enough players can put them through to top8, because of variance.
>>
>>52948757
Continuing:

Death shadow, was a complete junk according to big portion of /tg, it's now one of the biggest impact cards in current meta.

SCG Classic - Worcester april 9
Zombies, fucking bad deck, top8. I remember people bashing it here all the time.

Blue moon got into top8s straight from the gutter if I recall? It wasn't really ever discussed from what I saw and somehow it just came around and got into top lists.

I remember how right after Grave-troll unban, people testing dredge kept telling how bad it is. Here again, most didn't know how to build it, most didn't know how to play it. A fucking gargadon version won the tournament and gargadon is just bad in it.

What deck should I build next tg? I have DSJ, Storm, Grixis Control, GB Tron, Mardu Midrange, Affinity, Titanshift, UB Tezz, Abzan Company, Eternal Command, Merfolk, BTL Scapeshift, and Dredge built. I'm bored with them all, I want an interesting hard to play deck, don't care what tier, but something interesting that's at least semi capable of winning.

Hello
>>
>>52949707
>13 decks built
>bored of them all

Have you considered that Magic might not be for you? Or that you might have a problem? I can't possibly imagine being bored with the game, much less bored with 13 different decks. (I have 7 decks across 3 formats and I'm still excited to play)

Maybe you should take a break from the game for a while. Or try different decks on XMage before buying into one that you'll just get bored with.
>>
>>52949707
Find a card that gives you erect and build around it yourself. If you can't, you are in the wrong game.
>>
>>52949935
Nah I love Magic. I've had Grixis Control, Tron, Mardu, Affinity, Company, Eternal Command, and Merfolk built for a while. I have autism, and it's really all I do, I have a bunch of other rich friends at college and all we do is play MTG all the time, but those decks I love and play them all the time. Most recently I built UB Tezz which got much better with Whir and I'm still enjoying, Titan Shift, BTL Scapeshift, which is still fun but not that great, DSJ, Storm, then Dredge, 4 of which are really linear and boring desu. I want to blow my brains out when I have to bring Dredge to a tourney. I wouldn't say I'm bored, there's just nothing I enjoy more than working together a new deck and testing it and brewing and playing it, the new deck feel is my favorite. IDK any suggestions help. It's also of note I do play standard and like to brew there, but copycat just shat on the format for so long I stopped playing, maybe I'll fuck around some more with Amonkhet and cat banned. I play legacy too, but my painter and Miracles decks just got shat on so I'm a little ass pained, and 4c Control is so fucking gay.
>>
>>52950046
That card was BTL, however it's just not that good in today's hyper faggot aggro format.
>>

Huh, okay. You might not be as bad as I first thought. I've known several people who were always bored playing anything, but for whatever reason, they never stopped. Like, dude, I'd rather do anything else than you be miserable.

You can try UW Control or Esper Draw-Go. Or maybe Kiki-Chord if that's still a deck. Possibly Living End, and it's getting better with new not!Egypt toys.

For that, Mono-red Burn or Mono-green Stompy. Of the two, Burn is the better investment, as it's still fairly strong and can easily build into the full, "real" list when you get the funds or will to do so.

Avoid mono-green stompy. It's too slow for even FNM at this point.

With $250 I would look to focusing on your mana base. Allied fetch lands go for about 15-20 a pop, 60-80 for a playset. Shocks are about 10 a pop on average. Pain lands are 2.00 to 5.00 per, and check lands are even less.

These are going to be essential if you want to bounce between decks, and if you want to run more than two colors (you should).
Getting locked out of a deck because you can't reliably get the mana you need is awful. Buy into lands first to avoid this.

We can probably make do with four fetches and put another 40 into shocks, using up 100.
The other 150 we can put towards actual spells.
Or, we can put 150 into lands (8 fetches, or more shocks and some pains) to allow us to move between decks easier.
Your call. If you don't know the deck you want, I might opt for the latter.

Avoid enemy-color fetches for now. We don't have the money.

Personally, I might recommend something like
https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/much-abrew-alesha-reanimator-modern
provided we cut some of the worthless jank like Master of Cruelties who we won't ever use anywhere else, and isn't even great in this list.

Why I recommend it is because it's a deck easily divided into parts.
We make one pass on lands, a second pass on nonlands, and then when we have money, we replace the shitty nonlands with good ones and have Jund.

Bant Eldrazi, or Eldrazi & Taxes might also be a consideration. They only have one whopping expensive card (Noble Hierarch and Dark Confidant respectively), unlike Jund with multiple.
The other thing is that Bant Eldrazi is still allied colors, which has cheaper lands. E&T meanwhile is one of the few decks that doesn't need a third color, and so we don't actually need the $30/card fetches as bad.

The strength of abzan company has always been the fact that it's a fairly solid gw value beatdown deck that just accidentally wins sometimes. Anyone talking about the remedies/druid combo like it's how they're going to be winning most games is a retard. By that same point, the infinite life/damage combo probably works better in the deck just because it doesn't require you to hold things in hand in anticipation, and that it goes off at instant speed the turn the pieces are assembed, of course.
