Though I don't know if this is what OP was looking for. The skull is certainly not a human skull.

Artist here. I don't have any good examples on hand, but i do like to make sure elves aren't just youthful human face with pointies. Things like eye shape relevant to environment, and similar.

Another thought, in regards to the actual ears: I believe Tokien originally described his elf ears as "leaf shaped." which you can do a lot with that most just don't bother to do. (shit post example: High elves - weed shaped ears.) There are a LOT of leaf shapes.
