My character had to sacrifice pursuing the girl he'd been crushing on to marry for political gain. It was the most obvious fucking trap in the world and the GM was a huge fan of GoT and Russian history so I knew I was going to get backstabbed at some point.

Spent the better part of an in-game year preparing for it.

And then one day she saved all our asses, revealed she was a half-celestial Paladin, and that every time she'd mysteriously disappeared from the castle during a crisis, she was off fighting evil. I was pretty damn relieved, because I'd really let her grow on me by that point.

"Humanfinder Anon" here, I posted my custom setting a couple threads ago asking for help making custom races and picking a better name (looking at "In God's Image" as a possibility right now).

Rules-wise, the thing I need to make are the races: a bunch of slightly-to-drastically modified humans in various ways to make them as fierce, powerful and magical as the robots believe their ancient creators must have been.

Anyway from the looks of things, I'm only gonna be able to come up with like 6 races total - a low number for PF - so my current question is now: would it be a good idea to just let players choose their race's assigned ability score adjustments, not just one floating +2 but a full +2/+2/-2 set?

Once, I got a barmaid knocked up by session 2, the DM joked about rolling for pregnancy and she announced the barmaid got knocked up.

If you make exactly 6 races, give each race a unique -2 attribute, then let the players choose which two attributes to boost by +2. They can even put one toward boosting the weak attribute, winding up with a +2 somewhere else as the only adjustment.

If you do something else, remember that a +4 attribute is worth more than two +2 attributes. Doing that comes with two -2s instead of one.

According to a reliable source, the Avowed is going up to 6+Int skills. I do kinda wish they could get more shapes up and running earlier, because it kinda feels like you HAVE to max out and build around one shape, with anything else as just a backup, or else you fall behind. Maybe it's missing some potential class skills.

Also what the fuck more do you want than the skill clauses, seriously. Rerolls are god-tier, and you get those rerolls ON TOP OF A BONUS. TO MULTIPLE SKILLS.

6+int will help a lot actually. IMO a cha-focused class really needs a lot of skill points to work its stuff well, even more so if it's supposed to grab some knowledges and stealth. Getting more shapes viable earlier would be nice.

As long as it skillmonkeys well, has utility SLAs, and can deal decent damage using a variety of shapes for different scenarios, and doesn't need dex, con, str, and cha, all by a respectable level (like 4-7 or so) I'm good with it

One of my PCs met up with their unbeknownst-to-them adult bastard son when he returned home for the first time in twenty years.

He'd kept correspondence with his family, but none of them mentioned the boy, since they didn't want to keep him from him doing his God's work.

When he finally came home, and he finally figured out that the boy is his, the first thing he did was start to look for a way to get him legitimized. Was super cool.

I already asked this in the other thread, but I might as well ask it here too. So, I have 7 skill points I can spend at 1st level, but 8 skills I'd like to take.

The skills I'm looking at are Bluff, Diplomacy, Disguise, Knowledge (Religion), Perception, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, and Stealth.

Which of these can I reasonably get by without until I get more skill points? Disguise is the one that stands out most to me, but I'm still pretty new to the game and I thought I'd ask you guys before I end up making a mistake.

I've also been told Sleight of Hand is pretty useless, but I thought it might be good for the character I'm trying to make so it's still a consideration anyway.

He's an oracle with the covetous curse (You must wear fine non-magical clothing and jewelry worth at least 50 gp + 100 gp per character level you have beyond 1st.), so I figured from time to time he'd end up in situations where he has to resort to theft to work around that.

Anon, every character in a /pfg/ game is still level 3, which is like the lower end of C-Class.

B-Class is level 7, A-Class is level 11, S-Class is level 15. Saitama is an example of a level 20, Mythic 10 character starting at C-Class.

It really depends on the pact. It's got your basic magic user thing of "can cast Detect Magic". It has a pretty good selection of shapes to let you be a blaster-focus or a weapon user. There's a LOT of skill clauses to let them be excellent with some groups of skills (dude rerolls lmao) and possibly cover up for if you wanted to be dumb and dump the fuck out of Wisdom (Cha-to-Will as early as 1st level).

You essentially have three considerations for these:
Is it cross-class? (class skills get an extra +3 bonus for that first rank, which can be nice)
Is it usable untrained? (you cannot gain greater than dc10 knowledge untrained, for instance)
And, of course: do I actually want this skill on my character? (Consider if investing a point, or more, in later levels might work out just as well)

Played a genocidal alchemist bent on wiping out races like goblins, because as a child his village was attacked by them and his father wounded, dad survived but it left it mark on the young kid. Fast forward, kid is a genius revolutionized how they grow crops and use herbs a medicine, eventually gets recruited to alchemical college. Turns out he's obsessed with poisons and using them to target specific species (goblins) gets kicked out of the college, becomes a alchemist for crime ring the funds his experiments until its taken down by the fledgling party.

roped into the Party, BBEG appears amd starts to end the world, Alchemist goes to save his parents only yo find it too late the villiage is destroyed. I don't like playing as human in fantasy because humans are quite boring in characterisation and design. They are often too genertic and serve no thematic role in the setting or has no motif associated with them. By contrast, I often play as human in scifi settings where they usually do have a role of theme.

I could argue for several races being better than humans unless you're starved for specific feats from the word go.

Aasimar/Tieflings tend to shit on humans given their flexible Stat allocations and useful non feat bennies. Deep Gnomes make for ungodly good Wizards, Wyrwoods shut down an entire swath of effects, Samsarans are really brutal casters if there's anything worth poaching from the magic type you choose, the half-breeds (especially Half-Orcs who want Fate's Favored) can slot in better for most builds, and Skinwalkers are the unquestionably best natural attack starting race chassis.

People pick humans because they ARE humans and aren't constrained to some forehead alien stereotype by their race.
